I accidentally deleted the terminal services client shortcut. I think the program is in the windows directory called termsclient.exe or something like that but I was unable to locate it Is it in the main ROM (not accessible unless do a hard reset or extended ROM?). Can anyone attach the program to their reply and save me a hard reset?
?
Thanks all,
David
Hi,
It's called "MSTSC40.EXE", it's located in Windows and it's in Main ROM. Simply make a new shortcut to it and place it in Windows\Start Menu\Programs.
Hope this is of help.
Phil
thanks!
Hi all, just did a search on the forums, and didn't see anything. So here goes. How do you uninstall intellipad? It doesnt appear in the remove programs bit...does it need doing manually, if so...how would one go about doing thins?
if it start automaticly then looking in windows\startup or what ever that dir is for the shortcut to the program and remove the shortcut and
then remove the files and reg'd it use would be the same thing as what remove programs does
you could also look in the pc activesync's add remove programs if it was installed using activesync
Couldnt find anything to do with it in shortcuts. I think all the program files are residing in the windows directory. Does anyone know which keys from the registry, would rather know for sure rather than guessing?
looking in Windows Directory and there's a lot of file IntelliPad.***
Yes I have seen the intellipad files there, its the registry keys im not sure of.
I am looking for some help with "shortcuts" or ".lnk" files
I am using a HTC Tilt 8925 with WM6, but I think this may be a more universal issue.
I went into Windows > StartMenu and added several new folders, and then moved the .lnks formed from program installations into those folders.
For instance, folder "Refererence" now hold Dictionary, Lexipedia, Thesaurus, etc.
All was OK for a while, but then I started to get error messages about 2 application .lnks that I had moved into a subfolder. The funny thing is, the links actually work! It's just that randomly, I get a WM6 message that there is a problem with " Programs > XXX > AAA "
Does anyone know how to make a "new" link, to replace these old links? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program and then moving those 2 .lnks, again, to the subfolder where I want it to be, but it happened again!
Thanks for any and all ideas!
PS: I have SK Tools installed; I thought there was a shortcut tool, but I cannot find it
Go into Program Files then whatever application you want the shorcut for. Copy the exe file then navigate to wherever you want the shortcut and paste shortcut. Rename the shorcut to whatever you want and the link is done!
Having said that if your shortcuts work sometimes but not others I cant see how it is a problem with the actual shortcut. You may need help here from someone more experienced than me.
Hey there!
I wonder if there's anyway to manually remove an item in the list of installed application on WM6.1? I have a couple of annoying programs there that just won't go away. WM said that the uninstallation couldn't be fully performed in these cases, and asked if I wanted to remove the items from the list. But they are still there. I even made a search and removed all files related to those programs, and I also deleted all references to them in the registry. But they continue to appear on the list. Where the heck are they stored, I wonder? Is it text in a specific file? Suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks
Edit: Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum, perhaps it should have been at Questions and answers instead...
Did you ever find an answer? Trying to remove Commontime with out resetting the phone. Darn thing locks the phone up when uninstalling.
uninstalling
Heres a solution I have found to get rid of useless programs (real player mainly) found it on the Microsoft social pages
"I have found the solution to the various posts listed on not being able to get rid of an uninstalled prog in the remove progs window. Using MemMaid 2.3 go jump to/databases/database usage, highlight SwMgmtMetadataStore and click browse, highlight offending entry and delete it. Then do and soft reset and you will find that the prog is no longer in the remove prog window. Hope this helps."
hope this works ,i have been search for the the last month to remove get scan life off program launch. i hate that i have to pay for this app, wish their were a free alternative ,wont go into this now, thank you will post my success or failure
Yes, I can confirm that it works!! Thank you VERY much for this post!! What you wrote is very helpful and seems the only way to solve this problem. I have tried searching all through the registry and removing all the keys I found and still - nothing!! It seems that in this, Windows Mobile is very different from its "big brother"
Now give me the retarted programmers who are writing programs, which can't be uninstalled !!! (boxing)
Just one small addition - the entries in the remove programs list disappeared immediately, no soft reset was needed.
THANK YOU ! ! !
Try going to hklm/software/apps and deleting the reg key for the app. I won't guarantee it will work, but that reg key records the install directory. Do a soft reset as well.
Thanks for the above tip, I have done the registry search trying to get rid of an app called point UI and a new theme which has been a stubord s%$& to remove, I got rid of the registry details and the folders and everything after I had done an uninstall (there were bits lefts) despite all this when I go to memaid and look at "installed apps" the folder including a list of empty folders for the theme (not the app itself) have not gone, I can't delete them and I can't find them in toal commander or file explorer, only in memaid and it is unable to shift them and when you click on "explore" it says the files are missing or deleted.
Problem is when I try to re-install everything from scratch it always says the previous version is still there and crashes the install.
I at a total loss on this, I've been waisting my time with it all day with no joy.
Is there anything else I can do to remove the empty folders ??
Many thanks to julioDave (post #3) - the tip was spot-on for solving my problem with a YouTube WVGA app "YouTube_Player_-_WVGA_-_800x480.rar" on my Vodafone TP2, which hadn't uninstalled properly and left an entry "MyLostBlog YouTube" in the Remove Programs list, no matter how many times I tried getting rid of it conventionally. MemMaid 2.3 (fully functioning trial software from DinarSoft), in Advanced Mode, does the job when following julioDave's instructions.
The original source for this solution is http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/windowsmobile/thread/7bad6dc7-d042-4bc2-8516-c9eeaeb5af58.
Removing that database entry can also be carried out using SKTools:
Category > Maintainance > Databases > Highlight "SwMgmtMetadataStore" > Action > View Content > highlight the offending entry > Action > Delete
Im new to Windows Mobile and did my first Hard Reset on my Xperia yesterday. Now I am missing the programs installed on my Memory Card, for example TomTom, in the list of programs in WM. The only way I am able to access these programs is through a file explorer.
How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance // Thorell

Hi Thorell:
To reuse these programs all you need to do is create shortcuts to them under the windows->startmenu->programs folder and they will reappear in your programs under start menu.
This way you don't need the file explorer to reach the programs .
Thanks! It works!
If I may ask another (stupid/simple) question: How do I make a shortcut? I solved this by copying and editing an allready existing shortcut, but I assume that there is an easier way.

@thorell,
Just hold your stylus on the application and the menu will pop up. There is an option in there that says "Send Shortcut to Programs..."
One small correction though to what thesire has written. He is right but not all programs behave the same way. A lot of programs copy most of its files in the location that you select. However, there are many programs that must write things into the registry and even copy some files in system memory. In other words, even though you will see programs in your memory card, you will not be able to run them... not even by clicking directly on the .exe. You only need to reinstall the app.
Good luck

So what you're saying means that there is no benefits except more free memory in the internal memory when you install on the memory card regarding some programs? I thought/hoped that you could install on the card in order to not have to reinstall every program after a hard reset. This time I had only the TomTom Navigator on the card, and it works now, but if I had installed, for example SPB Mobile Shell or some other programs that in my (not on knowledge based) opinion are more integrated (spelling?) in the system, it wouldn't have worked?
How do I know that a program will run from the memory card after a hard reset?
Thanks /// Thorell

you are absolutely right egzthunder1, because wm behaves the same way as traditional windows and when hard reset everything that is copied to the windows directory and registery for the program to function is lost. I definitely overlocked this small, but important pointer. Thanks.
