Hi everyone> I am new to this so please forgive me. My question is i now have a XDA Exec. I work and travel with people from Thailand. I have installed Lingvosoft phrase book and dictionary on my phone and these work fine for referance. The only trouble is I get e-mails and txt messages from people who I work with in Thai. When I open them all i see is the square symbol. (I asume this is because i need to install some thai fonts).
Can anyone help me with this and also explain how I set the xda to use both english and thai fonts.

i use the programm tomeraider to read wikipedia.
How can i manage that the asian character will show in the right way? Now i only can see strange combination.
I have a XDA Neo (Qtek S200) with WWE Rom.

It might not be the answer you need or the easiest, but this is my trick :
Change your Rom to an asian rom
If you still want english menus, I think there is a soft that have been developped to then change in english (or other languages). search Asukal posts.

i want to use an english Rom, so it's really not the easiest way
i have find out, that i need the unicode fonts. Google says that this font is 22MB big, so i need to put the font on my memory card. There is a program called "Font on Storage" but this program doesn't work with WM5 :-(
Is there some similar way or program?

I would like to ad a language so that my Xda will be able to read text messages written in other languages.
The languages i'm refering to are hebrew and arabic etc that don't have Latin letters

Czech dictionary
I had the same problem, I discovered that you can add words by opening .txt file containing list of words in your HTC HD2, you can select part of them, and click in swype on the button with marked as "i", words will be added.
I attached hereinafter a file with around 24 000 czech words.

G'day fellas. I've had some problems when sending messages containing stress words like é, ã, à. In portuguese we have a plenty of words with accentuation. The point is: whenever i send a message with stressed words, the receiver can't read it. Only aquares are shown in his/her screen. How can i solve it? I appreciate your help guys.
P. S. : my keyboard is set as international, using SwiftKey.

This is an issue with Android since I can remember. There were two workarounds I used:
HTC IME Mod: Replace "unpleasant" characters, keeps the dictionary.
Handcent SMS: Has an auto-replacement feature.
Currently I use the stock keyboard without dictionary.
I have a problem, I'm Portuguese, so you write sms with catacteres 'ã' 'ê' 'ç' 'á' among others. Right now I'm using the ROM of Endymion, I've come to use the ROM and Runnymede had the same problem of special characters. When you send sms to other mobile phones with special characters, shows with other characters. If I change to the language to English (Portugal), it sends correctly, but if you switch back to Portuguese (Portugal) turn to be the problem.
I think that is the coding for sending sms. Someone can help me?

i'm not sure if it would fix the problem, but have you tried downloading a different keyboard? Something like swype?

have already installed some keyboards, and continues with the same problem. I can only post with special characters if I change the ROM language to English (Portugal).
Also installed morelacale2 to change to the Portuguese language and continue with the same problem.
So the encoding of sms that is defined in the ROM language to English (Portugal) is not defined in Portuguese (Portugal)
if I knew how be programmed the ROM, maybe I could find the settings to English.
that's why I'm asking for help.
I'm also Portuguese and also suffering from the same problem. My phone is completely stock with HTC updates, it has android 2.3.5 and sense 3.0 and I use the last version of Swype. I agree with you and think that the problem is not the keyboard but something else.

I had a similar problem when typing Greek characters, the sms were sent ok but instead of sending 160 characters per SMS, it would send only 70 per SMS.
This would mean that I was sending 2-3 SMS in order to send 160 characters message.
I solved it by installing Handcent SMS client from the Market.
I don't know if it would help you but you can always give it a try.

Im currently on TBD v3.1 Rom, and have the exact same problem, and really only happening when sending sms, it looks fine on my htc HD2, but the receiver instead of "~" gets a "?".
Email is working fine, facebook, everything except sms.
So far no one knows whats wrong or how to solve it =/
(my best friend, Google, cant also tell me how to solve this)
