SMS Export - General Topics

I'm trying to export SMS messages from my PPC to my PC. I've spent the last two days searching the web (including this site) for a solution, but so far no luck. I'm beginning to think that this is impossible.
I've tried a whole bunch of applications, including SmsBackup, SmsOrganizer, SmsExport, SPStudio and Jeyo Mobile Companion. None of these applications have been able to export my messages.
I've also tried to extract the messages from the system databases using different database tools. With this approach, I've managed to export my received messages. However, I'm unable to export my sent messages as these seem to be spread over different databases and text files.
I hope someone can point me in the right direction here. My PPC is a Qtek 9090 running WM 2003 SE.
Thanks in advance.

I would suggest you use smsOrganizer v1.02 from www.zedsoft.net
It has an option to "Export All"
I hope this helps

have you tried Jeyo SMS?
try jeyo sms, search on the forum.

Hi, do I get a prize for reading the whole post!
You can do an export (of sorts) using Jeyo Mobile Extender.
Download the 14 day trial, install and the SMS's will show up in Outlook. Go to File, Import/Export,select "Export To A File", choose file type - I tried both Access & Excel - then choose the SMS Inbox/Sent items from the Next screen.
The only problem is the fields that are exported don't include date/time!
Hope that helps

smsOrganizer for WM2005
smsOrganizer is now avaiable from Wm2005!!

""sms organizer is not a valid pocket pc application ""
this is the typical error ppl who try to run pc applications install programs
which use activesync to get the program to the pda on the pda rather then on the pc which they were made for

does any1 know how this guy makes his program send u a msg telling to the d/l the latest version when you try using the program?
ie i went to start smsorganizer today, and it doesnt start, but comes up with a pop up asking to check the website for the latest version...
how does anevemkovacs get the program to do that ?
does he have access to control the program even though i haven't been online for months...

please save my contacts list..... please.....!!!!!

Hello,
I need a GREAT favor from someone.
I did the upgrade in my Qtek 2020 for the WM2005 and I have mine backup of contacts made with xbackup in the W2003SE.
What I want, is that someone that has the W2003/W2003SE loads my list of contact in its qtek and make a backup with activesync or with outlook of windows.
Only that way, I will be able to have my contacts in the WM2005 without needing to again make downgrade and upgrade to the ROM.
Who will have the pleasantness to make me this great favor, please indicate its address of email so that I can send the file of backup that I have made with xbackup of my list of contact.
Thanks,
Eng Ricardo Gomes
Hi
I have the same problem. I had the Windows Mobile 2003 SE and upgraded to Windows Mobile 5, i didnt realize the contact situation and didnt even dream activesync 4.1 would not have a backup /restore. I have the backup of my contacts in the following 2 formats
1. Xbackup - wont open says backup information error, in WM 5
2. Activesync - Do not know how to restore
Could some body guide me, i will be really grateful if i get out of this fix.
Thx in advance
Murali
Excuse me , but , i dont uderstand your problem ....
you have a device with wm2003 or wm2003se .... you synchronize it with your pc , and your contact list is savec in your pc's outlook software
you can upgrade your device to wm2005 and synchronize it with your pc .... active sync inject the outlook contact list on your ppc , that's all !!
TofClock is right ... it worked for me after good advice to this effect. Make sure you are using ActiveSynch 4.1 when you synchronize (with Outlook) your PC under WM2003SE, then sychronize back the other way once you have flashed WM5 into ROM.
xBackup
Of course TofClock is right about backing up from PC but the problem that savagemen is describing is different. In 2003 there was a feature called "xBackup" that allowed you to backup and restore 'All Data' or only 'Contacts and Appointments' drectly to/from the storage card. This meant that you didn't need the PC at all. The "xBackup" feature does not appear in the 2005 Program file as it did in 2003's. I was very used to this feature and am desperate to get it on my 2005 upraded sx66. Any ideas?

As written alot about in much threads and forums, the xbackup is not available for wm5.
So for as far as my humble knowledge go's, i'd do it with outlook as leading person to sync the old contacts to the new rom.
Most quickest i think, without any hassle about "what if" problems

We are all reading from the same page. Yep ... Xbackup is no longer needed (or works) with persistent storage. And yes, I quite understand that he wants someone else to put themselves out and load his contacts, calendar and so on. But why doesn't he simply flash back to WM2003 >>> backup with ActiveSynch 4.1 onto this PC >>> flash the ROM to WM5 again and then restore with ActiveSynch 4.1. Problem solved. :!:

Migrating text messages (SMS) from WM2003 to WM2005

Hi, Does anybody know of any way to migrate (copy) messages from WM2003(XDA2 Mini) to a WM2005 device? I tried the follwing :-
smsorganizer (can't work in WM2005)
sunnysoft backup manager (Messages are imported, but nothing is shown in the inbox)
Is there any other way of doing so? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Use jeyo mobile extender for outlook
it backs ups all your messages to outlook. You can then download them all to a new mobile. Like I did from m1500 to exec and wizard.
Yes Thanks! I did come across just after i posted and it worked perfectly!!!

Help. Pocket Outlook Database is broken

Hello,
I've a great problem. I used PocketInformant and made a new appointment. Then my PDA (HTC Trinity) freezed. I made a softreset and after this lots of programs could not be started.
But the greatest problem is that all my PIMs (appointments, contacts...) are away. When I want to open Contacts I get a Error Message: Cannot logon to the the Pocket Outlook Database .
What can I do now? I know that all data is stored at the pim.vol . Are there any programs where I can read out this file?
It hasn't to be comfortable. I just need to see my appointments so that I can write them manually down at my Outlook on PC.

Telephone Contacts in Excel

Hello,
I am going to try and get an HTC Touch Pro from Vodafone UK when they get themselves into gear and specify a real release date for the device but have the following question.
I ahve all my contacts listed in an excel file, name in first, home number in second, mobile third and work 4th. When I get my touch pro, is there a way to import these contacts from this excel document into contacts on the phone?
Thanks
Regards,
Neil
Not that I know of. One great thing about this device however, is every new call (in or out) that comes through the phone offers to add the number to the contact list. If the number is in the correct format in Excel, you should be able to click and dial the number. Then hang up, fill in names.
That sounds like the long approach...and of course, if your contact list is like mine, that is 400 calls you hang up on, and a lot of minutes on your plan for the month.
THANK GAWD FOR OUTLOOK...HAVEN'T HAD TO MANUALLY ENTER A NUMBER IN 4 YEARS!!!
there is a way
sync your phone with outlook, go to outlook import
and then import from another program or file, and see what options is best for you there
import it into contacts...
you should be able to use ppcbckpcontacts that someone on here wrote and posted a while back. It recognizes excel without having to sync to outlook.
are you serious bro? Wow that is too much work. Get software called PIM. It is free PPC Pim Backup and you wont need to use outlook or excel. Just back it up, restore.. Set it andddddd forget it
I can't get either of the two programs you all suggested to work. They keep telling me they are not valid win 32 applications.
Any other ideas and also I do not wish to use Outlook or Outlook Express. The only contact databases I wish to use are the contact list in Opera, Windows Vista Contacts folder or my Excel Telephone list whcih I ahve started.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Regards,
Neil

Try running them on the phone
Your best solution is as what mospantagruel suggested.
Sync your PDA to your PC/Notebook
Open Outlook (your contacts should be synced)
Try to export your contacts to excel and study the fields name
Either move your contacts from your existing Excel worksheet or modify it (the fields name) to match the one you exported
Go back to Outlook
Import from Excel
Ok, As I stated in my first post, I do not have a phone yet which is why I said that so I kind of expected applications for the pc.
and again, I DO NOT WISH TO USE OUTLOOK OR ANY PART OF OUTLOOK IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM.
I agree with the Outlook technique, even though I've just installed PIMBackup to backup my machine before sending it to repair, and that program seems very very good. Might be feasible to do it through IPMBackup.
But on Outlook it will be much easier...
(God Bless Microsoft for the office suite... it is just great!)

Treo and SMS
Hello,
I am the CEO for SynergeTech Solutions, the makers of Windows Mobile SMS Sync. For some reason, Palm decided to build their own proprietary SMS software for their Windows Mobile phones. Any application built to use the default Windows Mobile SMS data store will therefore return zero messages as they are not stored there for these devices.
At one time, Palm offered an SDK that possibly would have contained the APIs needed to interface with their proprietary message store for SMS. Unfortunately, they seem not to offer it anymore and I have been unable to get a response form them for guidance on obtaining it.
To the best of my knowledge, there are no backup/export applications in existence that can interface with these devices. If I am incorrect, or if anyone has the Palm Windows Mobile SDK, I would love to be corrected. My company is actively working on adding support for Palm devices and I will be sure to update this thread as soon as a Palm compatible version of Windows Mobile SMS Sync is released.
Thanks,

SMS Backup
I too have been looking for a "sync" utility for SMS for the Treo 750.
Haven't found one yet, but I backup my messages to my PC simply by copying the message database. The SMS database is one file named PalmMsgV001 in the windows directory. Using ActiveSync Explorer on your PC it's as simple as "copy and paste".
synergetech solutions is a joke!
crappy customer service. mostly all reviews of their products seem like "paid" reviews. f'n crap company.
mr. "ceo" wannabe. step up your game.
