Can I store Pocket outlook info on storage card? - General Topics

Dear all,
Is it possible to sync (or store) the Pocket outlook data on storage card? I can't find any setting about this; however is it possible for me to make it via any tweak (like registry modification)?
Let me explain why I need to do this. I understand that when device failed, I can always sync PIM to new PDA with outlook on notebook or desktop computers. However my secnario is that if I can store Pocket outlook (PIM) data on the storage card, I will not need my notebook or desktop. I can just put the storage card into a new PDA, and I can have all the info. I may leave notebook in home, but will carry PDA all the time. This is what I thought for this.
Thanks for reading this post and your kindly assist.

Michael

if it's the same type of device you can just use xbackup or spirite backup to backup and restore your data from the sd card
the thing about putting active programs and data on sd cards is they have a limited nr of writes they can do before they die
and most programs cant cope with their storage being removed run time
which you can do when it's on a sd card
sd cards are disabled when the device is off to save power
if you get a mail or sms when the device is off the sd is off too

Dear Rudegar,
Thanks for the reply. It looks like there is no way to store PIM in the storage card. I will try to test another solution, eg. to sync with Exchange server directly. The only issue to sync with Exchange is that it is not so easy to find wireless access point.

Sync Files on XP Desktop and Orbit

Hi all,
there is another question regarding my orbit.
I have setup the "File Synchronization Settings"
When I connect the Orbit to the computer, it synchronize these files on both locations.
This function works great.
The only problem is that the folder location has been pre-set in the main memory.
I want to put all my documents in my micro-sd card, although I can copy the files to it, but it addes several more steps.
Is it possible to change this location to my micro-sd?
Thanks for looking.

TC: Echange sync-inbox, calendar, contacts

You all are intelligent as heck- I am a newbie. And learning.
I am trying to free up some RAM in my TC. I am trying to, or wish to, have my Outlook inbox, calendar, and contacts download into my phone. I am getting a memory full message. And I see no method that I can see to move programs over to storage cards..
Is there a way to move some of my programs over to a larger storage card? And what is that process please....?!
Thank you all. This is my first HTC...and not real up to speed.....
Your Inbox might not fit into built-in memory.
There is a configuration option for outlook (and mail in general) to save Attachments to the Storage-Card.
This should free up the memory enough.

How to get phonenumbers to HTC

Dear Forum,
I am currently using a Nokia E51 and will be getting the HTC Touch HD in the next few days. As I have been a Nokia user for the last 5 years I am unsure of the best way to get my contacts to the HTC. Until now I had no problems as it is easy to transfer Nokia to Nokia. What should I do? I have no Outlook on my PC and the only other place I have my contacts at the moment is on ovi.com (a Nokia website to sync your mobile)
Any suggestions (for instance software) would be most welcome.
Thank you for your patience and any help on this matter.
Simple!
Go to your CONTACTS in your Nokia. Then OPTIONS - SELECT - SELECT ALL
Then copy all to your SD card. They will be saved as standard vCards which then can be easily opened and saved in your WM device.
Downside:
You will have to open and save each single one but still better than having to type in everything again!
If you have Microsoft Outlook you can import all your VCards to outlook and then all you have to do is Syncronize your device with outlook on your computer. May save some steps or at least make it easier
what about saving to SIM card and then delete them once their in your phone?
Thanks for all the help guys
I'll try first with the sim card. I didn't think of that because I am so used to having those old ones where you could only save 1 phone number per name. I acquired an umts card (sorry, am german, not sure if it's called the same in the u.k.) only recently. If that fails, then SD card and a nice train journey while I open/save each contact
Outlook I don't have, so I'll look into getting that maybe, but I remember it being quite pricy as a stand alone product

working on ubuntu !!!

I have searched this alot and couldnt find an answer ...
Is there any way to sync my PPC with ubuntu (linux) , I just need to read/write my SD card
Can any ony one help me please?
I'm not sure what you want to sync, but i use evolution on the ubuntu side and google as an intermediary. There is no way directly sync evolution to ppc, google offers activesync support and evolution has a plugin for google contacts and calendar, and now possible email. ppc wil sync to google via active sync too.
good luck.
for now all i need to do is to add files to my sd card (i dont have sd card reader) so i have to connect it through usb
what about using wireless connection (wifi, bluetooth) for transfering files?
You can use WM5Storage. You just have to install this cab on wm and you can turn your mobile into an usb-storage. But syncing isn't posible. you just can upload or download files
WM5Storage: link
thanx just what i need i will test it

[Q] Backup contacts, calendar and files from WM5

I have an XDA Argon running WM5. It has on it all my contacts, calendar etc. plus lots of Excel, Notes and other files. It used to synchronise with my notebook PC, but now whenever I connect it to the notebook either the notebook overwrites the data in the mobile, or vice versa. I have not therefore dared to synchonise it for over a year now, so both devices now have a lot of differences. Also I suspect the root of the problem is that somehow the timestamps (or whatever Mobile Device Center uses to control its sync process) have got messed up.
How do I, without risk of losing any data either in my mobile or in my notebook, get the two re-synchronised?
Either I need to back up both sets of data to somewhere I can restore from before trying to sync, or I need a sync process that will never delete or overwrite anything without asking for permission first. So far I've failed to find either solution. I can back up the files from the mobile to an SD card, but I can't find out how to back up the calendar and contacts. Is there a web service that will do it (without connecting to the PC)? Or can I create a new Outlook account and copy the mobile items to it in some way (without the risk that the PC writes the empty Outlook account into the mobile thus deleting everything)?
Hope someone can suggest a safe way out of this mess...
Thanks - Rowan.
