Hello, ive just upgraded to wm05 and my tomtom 6 worked perfectly before. now when i turn it on the back light goes off instantly. i have tried hex editing it from Backlight to Bbcklight but it comes up with an error when i try to open tomtom then. i have also tried downloading a pre patched one from this forum but still the same error.
Any help would be appreciated.

How did you get it working?
I hex edited the TomTom Navigator.exe and changed all the Backlight to Bbcklight. must be uni-code editor.
Or i have uploaded a pree patched one called TomTom-Backlight-Fix.ZIP
Install that ^
Then if you get this error message
The file 'TomTom Navigator cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. you might need to reinstall or restore this file.
Install the attatched file, Fix-Error-Message.ZIP
This should sort any problems

i have downloaded the file TomTom-Backlight-Fix.ZIP
i have copyed the file over to /program files/ navigator/
i am getting the error message
i have also downloaded and installed the fix-error-message.zip
i have extracted the .cab file to the root of the memory card and i have ran it.
it installed sucessfully.
but i am still getting the error message saying that the file is not signed or the components cannot be found.
could you please help me as i need tomtom 6 working as soon as possible

I have a palm treo 650. I just downloaded tomtom 6 and U.S. maps online. I installed tomtom 6 on my phone. (im pretty sure I did it right). I have the navigator symbol and everytime I click it, it says, "tomtom sd card not found".
Well I put a bunch of crap on my sd card and tried it again. I clicked to open the navigator but this time, instead of it saying "tomtom sd card not found", the phone completely shut off on me, then restarted.
I dont know what i am doing.

I don't know anything about palm treo 650, but I cleaned the SD card and transfered all tomtom6 files on my desktop computer using card reader. As soon as you insert SD card in to your palm itwill start installing. Try it it might work.
@Fudger: find out where Tomtom Navigator.exe is on your device and replace it by the one posted above.

I already created another solution for myself, a mortscript that writes to backlight registry keys once Tomtom starts. It is less elegant, backlight flashes and Tomtom starts slower. So

I found several solutions on the web for Tomtom turning volume to 70% at start up, but I don't like any of them very much. Anyone who's been able to tweak Tomtom to set it to 100% default?

still struggling with backlight
Hi. I have TT6 v 6.01. I have an IPAQ 214, and whilst I used TT6 OK on my LOOX 720, I get the "no backlight" problem on the IPAQ. I have seen the suggestions here. Edit Backlight to Bbcklight first. On my TomTom Navigator.exe there is only one occurrence (UTF). I've edited that and saved. The version posted here seems to have only one occurrence too, but the addresses are different. Different release? Tried my edited version and got the error everyone else reports re certificate. So then I looked at the CAB file suggested to fix the error message. How should this be installed? I put it onto my SD card and found it using explorer on PDA. Double clicked and installed it to "device". No good. Then installed it to "File Store". No good. Then put it into Navigator folder and installed it. No good either. Anyone got any other ideas please?
I've got this same issue on an Ipaq 214 with Tomtom 6.
I can see the issue being described with editing the exe with a hex editor to reference the backlight function correctly, and like others I'm getting an issue with the cerfificate of the file.
TomTom6 does not have a cab called Cert_SPSC
How can I fix the certificate error with tomtom 6 ?
I've edited the TomTom Naviator.exe file correctly, and just need to fix the certificate error.

I am a newbie to wm6 and have htc p3600 trinity. While I can install any .cab files, i get an error messages ´invalid application for pocket pc´ if I attempt to run a -.exe file. What do I do wrong?

what? if you run *.cab files you get the error "Invalid application for Pocket PC"? and if you run *.exe you get the same error?
If the *.cab is reject it usually is an invalid application for pocket pc - unsupported by WM6/6.1 i.e. skype *.cab is invalid for WM6.1
If the *.exe is reject..(i dont even think *.exe is supported at all on winmo devices - dont quote me thought)
exe files should be installed via active sync. meaning you connect your device to pc via active sync and then run exe file on your pc.
there are exe files for ppc, but they are applications and not installers
.cab files install fine, while .exe won´t run

as stated exe installs are pc installes which auto use activesync to get the cab to the device and install it

What about those of us on Mac's? Active Sync doesn't work with WM6 to Mac 10.5. I have to use Missing Sync, but still won't actively launch the installer of the .exe files
many exe install files are just selvextracting zips and can often just be renamed to zip and one can copy out the cab file in the cases
where this does not hold true then a pc user could get hold of the cab
or using bootcamp one can get around it

I'm having trouble finding a way to disable the certificate verification, in order to launch an old .exe file that worked perfectly on WM 2002. I've searched everywhere but no solutions worked for me.
What I've tried (and don't work):
* DisableCertChk.EXE (Only works on PPC 2002/2003 and smartphones 2002)
* Hacking theWindows Mobile 5.0 Registry
* Sign the file with signcode, and install the corresponding certificate
Any idea to make WM6.5 accept to launch my file?

do you get an error while trying to install the CAB file? maybe the problem is not the certificate verification but windows mobile version verification.
