Is this problem my firmware? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

Hi,
I have a problem with my Qtek S110. I just cannot get it to use Bluetooth whilst the radio is off. Whenever I try to activate bluetooth whilst in flight mode it tells me to turn off flight mode first.
I can find no way of turning the radio off other than switching to flight mode.
When I hold the power button down the screen backlight turns off but the radio remains on - totally different to what my Qtek manual states.
My goal is to have Bluetooth working with my GPS receiver but have the radio turned off.
I've emailed Qtek and a rather terse reply states that my phone is not working properly and to return it to the supplier. I don't trust that information and if I did return it I'm just as likely to get a phone which does exactly the same thing.
So, my question is, could someone please tell me if it is definately my firmware that causes this problem? (please see my current firmware in my sig)
Thank you.

BT switches OFF in flight mode no matter what firmware you use! It's designed like that.

Ah, I realise both BT and the phone should turn off in flight mode but what I am trying to do is to just turn the Bluetooth on by itself. I can't find out how to do it and the manual gives me no clues.
Could you please tell me if it is possible to have the phone off but bluetooth on (obvioulsy with the device on and not off)? If so, how do I do that.
If not, Qtek already told me that it should be possible to have bluetooth on when the phone part is off.
Thanks

A software called phone alarm allows you to do that. Make sure you install the latest version. You will be able to switch off the radio and leave the BT on.
Qtek support are wrong. Using the default apps you cannot switch off Radio unless you put it in flight mode.

Hi,
I have just installed v1.27 of Phone Alarm again in the hope that I missed something the first time I tried it.
Do you have phone alarm software installed? Could you please tell me how I turn off the phone part because I can't figure out how and I just read the instructions. If you do could you please try to it and tell me what you did - would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Actually,
I seem to have just managed to do it.
Not quite sure exactly what I've done as it was initially still telling me that I needed to turn flight mode off.
But, I am now seeing a nice blue led with no green led and a cross through the GSM indicator!!!
Thanks for all the info kta!! This is very much appreciated as I can now keep my phone which I like alot and buy that GPS receiver!
Thanks again!

I was just about to answer you. You beat me to it

Hey guys, I've been having a problem with the wifi on my universal for awhile, it just won't turn on, antenna stays off, no scanning, it's just off.
Going into the Wireless lan settings in the control panel "Wireless LAN OFF" is displayed, click "Turn on WLAN" it thinks for a few moments then returns to off with nothing changed.
Does anyone know if this is fixable? It doesn't appera to be a software issue, as it has continued on 3 diffreent ROMs... so i'm not sure how to proceed

hi @ all
this tread is a bit "past" but now i got the problem mentioned by balur.
i actually use maxstegis rom(5.2), but i also tried it with te shipped one from t-mobile.
i used google and the forum search, but i was not able to find a solution. i hope smb. can help me, because i need the wifi tomorrow!
1) Perhaps some of these ROMs are based on others that have the same problem.
solution: choose another ROM. Tomal8.2, minhanhtran, nncuong are ROMs that I vouch for that work on my maching with no WIFI problems
2) Perhaps your radio is not good
solution: try flashing another radio. I use 1.18, but many say 1.15 is the most stable. I have had problems with neither - but it may be worth reflashing your radio to make sure it is ok and stable.
Personally, I think if your original t-mobile ROM doesn't work, then you have problems with phone hardware. First I'd check other things can connect to you WLAN, to make sure it's definately the phone that's not good - or perhaps try and connect to a friends WLAN.

how can connect to a friends wlan? Quote(Balur): "returns to off with nothing changed." i cant even turn it on!
but thanks for your help!!!
I've the same problem with Tomal's 8.2. An other rooms I've tried.
The only thing I did was to change my 2Gb SD to a 4Gb HDSD
I experienced automatical turning off WiFi on Tomal 8.2 when i installed some tweaks - one to edit system settings and speed up Uni, second to disallow applications turn on GPRS - only manual turn on.
I'm not sure which of them was causing it .... don't you have something like that installed?
I'll try to find exact names of them when I'll have a while ...
Yes I had the XCPU Scalar. But now, even if I install an Original Shipped ROM, I can't turn on the wifi. I think that something is swiched off permanently, but I don't know what nor how.

problem because unlocking, then unable to use gps receiver

Hello,
Some posts might have already discussed this, but I am not very good with gadgets, and I have a specific problem which I need help with, so I thought it is better to start a new thread.
So this is my story. (by the way, my phone is HTC TyTn II)
I unlocked my phone in other country and apparently the software on my phone is now for HTC touch dual (I think - because everytime I switched it on, it says Touch Dual).
I used to be able to use bluetooth before and now,I can't.
Then, I was trying to download a gps sofware (or whatever you call it) on my phone - it is called miomap. I can view the map but it does not detect where I am like a normal GPS/tomtom would.
My questions are:
(and I am sorry if this questions sounds too dumb. I try to read and get the answers from other thread and websites, but I am too dumb in this stuff to take them in)
1. Do i need GPS receiver to be able to use it as GPS system? As at the back of it, there is word saying GPs, andd looks like I can connect it to something.
2. If I don't need one, what should I do?
3. Do you reckon I should download the original software for TYtn II?
Please help me, and thanks for your help in advance.

R 1.64.06.04 (is it safe to publish this no here? u know, just in case )
by the way, i tried to use my friends bluetooth gps receiver, first it doesnt work, then i found this software called GPS2blue. downloaded it then tried again with the receiver, and it works!!!!!
so does it not come with built in receiver? i thought it does. its just much easier if i dont have to use it - too many things to charge and carry around. but if thats the only solution, then what more can i do.
speaking of radio, that is one function that was lost with the phone after the sofware is changed to touch dual
btw, thanks for ur kind help. keep helping.

GPS when phone turned off ?

Hi all,
I've posted this in the Iolite/Cruise 09 section as well. I'm posting here so there's a better chance of answering my question.
I just got my Cruise 09 delivered last week, it replaced an Eten M600 which finally died a month ago !!
I'm really happy so far, it could do with one or two more hardware buttons , but it's not really a problem.
I've been trying out TomTom , and bought the Europe maps, it works perfectly so far.
I have a question I hope someone can answer for me - Is it possible to turn off the phone and still use the GPS ? When I turn the phone off and try to use TomTom, I have a message on screen "All connections are disabled (Flight mode) "
Is there a way around this ?
I will be driving abroad soon and don't want to leave my phone on all of the time.
Thanks
you can turn it off but you can prob toggle the screen so you save a bit of power
that way
thing is when suspented the phones disable the sd interface to save power
and thats where most people keep their maps
It's a design flaw of TomTom. Other GPS apps work in flight mode though. You can turn the phone off but leave the wifi and/or bluetooth on. Driving with the phone off seems like an unnecessary/bad idea. Any good reason for it?
Hi ,
Thanks for the replies.

The reason I wanted to operate Tomtom without the phone turned on is because when I go away on holidays I usually turn my phone off. After all , the whole idea is to get away from it all and try to relax, not be answering the phone all the time.
I'm planning on driving around Scotland, and will be using the GPS on my new Cruise.
I've just been experimenting with my phone. If I have wifi enabled and the gsm off, Tomtom says flight mode enabled.
If I have Bluetooth enabled but wifi and gsm off , Tomtom works !
I also just got an email response from HTC, as follows --
HTC Customer Care said:
Dear valued HTC customer,
Thank you for contacting our Customer Support Center. We are dedicated to providing you with the best quality service and answering all of your questions and concerns.
You recently wrote us about an issue that you have encountered with your HTC Cruise 2
To clarify your issue, you stated that: Hard reset operation
There must be a bug into the software, if the flight mode is visible into the system this can be just a software problem, if the flight mode is inside the tomtom software this can be the distribution of tomtom , please try the hard reset.
HARD RESET OPERATION.
1.Start
2.Settings
3.System
4.Clear Storage (before performing please make sure that you run a backup using active sync)

If the above steps do not resolve your issue, we invite you to visit the support area on our Web site. Please go to: http://www.htc.com/www/support.aspx

It appears they think I should do a hard reset.
Would this not just reinstall tomtom with the same bug ?

o2 xda exec switching off repeatedly

o2 xda exec switching off
i have been using my o2 xda exec for 1 year now.
there is some problem with it now, it is continuously switching off
and i need to connect it to the power supply to turn it back on.
this happens very frequently, even the battery will be full, whenever i use the camera or the music player or even receive a call this is happening.
after it switches off it just does not turn on, if i try to switch it on, the windows mobile blue screen comes up and the mobile turns off.
i have to connect it to the power supply to get it going.
please help me, i am finding it difficult to even change the ROM as it turns off even when connected to the PC!!!!!!!!!!
please help please!!!!!!!!
Have you tried another battery? Sounds like it could be that, as it does turn on when there is power? That would be what I would try first anyways.
Stu
yes
yes i have got a new battery and tried with that also.
by the way it stays on in battery power for two hours or so on stand by, but after that if i use some application or even receive a call , it will switch off!!!!!
