Sync-ing is fine. How can I live without it? Well I often have to, and I don't like it! I work for weeks or months at a time for clients on their sites and am expected to use their e-mail and calendar systems. However (and quite correctly) many of them won't allow connection to their systems of devices that they have not supplied and configured, so no syncing of my calendar on my PDA (Orange SPV M2000). I know it is possible in MS Outlook to export and import calendar data to and from files, and the files themselves can be sent by e-mail. Does anyone know of complementary software for Pocket PC that can do the same thing, i.e. take outlook calendar data in a file and use it to sync the Pocket-PC calendar (and vice-versa). Yes, I know it is messy, but it isn't half as messy as having to manually keep the two calendars in line!
outlook let you export and import things like that
as you see fit
you can just choose to export the calender to a pst file
and then import it to a nother pc with outlook which the xda can sync with
or maybe one could send an emial from the outlook you cant synch
with invisting you to all the appointments of the calender you require to
have on your device
I am working for two companies and have to keep both Outlook/Exchange agendas up-to-date. Until now I did this by plugging my Qtek S100 (WM 2003) into each of the PCs. As we know, this is no longer possible with WM5.
Has by now anybody found a solution or an elegant work-around, or do I have to stick to two PDAs, one for sync reason? Thank you and best regards, Stefan
why is it impossible with wm2005?
i sync with everything on my desktop at home
and sync with calender and tasks and notes and favourites
on my laptop at work it works without any problems at all
You can sync everything from both into your one device, but you would need Intellisync. It would not be set-up as an exchange source on the device, simply as 2 seperate PC's.
Obviously having the two set-up means you would not be able to sync with your home PC because you're limited to 2 ActiveSync PC connections, but you could still set-up your own Exchange source with any of the push mail providers to do this.

He mentions Outlook and Exchange. 2 Outlooks isn't a problem, but 2 Exchanges is.
2 Exchange Servers the Problem?
That is not my experience with WM5.
When establishing the partnership with Outlook1 I have to decide if I want to sync my calendar with that Outlook - which I do want.
Upon establishing the partnership with Outlook2 I cannot choose calendar to sync with Outlook2 as it is already being occupied by Outlook1.
And yes, behind both Outlook is (a different) Exchange Server, but I would not need to sync with the Exchange Server directly, synching with both Outlooks would be good enough.
Thank you AlanJC!
Thank you Alan, your hint lead me to a working solution.
I synchronize Agenda, Contacts and Tasks with Exchange Server 1 via Server Synchronization.
I synchronize Agenda, Contacts and Tasks with Outlook 2 using XTNDConnectPC, which allows me to synchronize the data of my WM5 Smartphone with the contents of the Outlook-Client.
BTW: Intellisync worked as well, but had some flaws in "forgetting" to synchronize certain Calendar entries with other people participating. XTNDConnectPC does not seem to have that problem.
Thank you again, Alan!
Many persons have problems with setting up the new Messenger, maybe I have some tips for you.
1) !!! Don't install WLM Mobile yet or remove it as quick as possible !!!!
2) First backup the WLM contactlist on your PC
(saving instant messaging contacts, creating a .ctt file)
3) Close Outlook if it's open and search for the PST file.
Copy that file at a save place. It's better to change the default location in the Application data of your profile anyway.
4) Open Outlook and WLM on your PC.
For all the contacts which you have in both programs, copy the e-mail adress from the WLM to the IM-adress field in the contact card of Outlook. For the contacts which are in WLM but not yet in Outlook, these will be created automaticly after syncing.
5) Did a lot of work in Outlook? -> Make another copy of your PST.
6) Sync all the contacts from Outlook to your phone by ActiveSync / WMDC.
7) Now install WLM Mobile
8) Reboot
9) Login Windows Live
10) I like the Windows Live Applications, but not the search. I sync the contacts but I don't sync the mail (cause I don't have Hotmail).
11) If you open the Contacts now on your phone, you'll see a VCard icoon for regular contacts and a Messenger icon for IM contacts. For the IM contacts you see if they are online or not (even you can see if you've blocked someone).
12) In Outlook you'll have to do some work to correct the created WLM contacts (give them a Full Name for example)
Syncing is slightly different when you sync with a PC, Exchange server and a mobile.
The most easy way is to make sure all changes are in Exchange server. So first sync everything and then flash the mobile. Clean all the contacts and appointments in Outlook (mostly home). Sync the mobile with Exchange server, then add the Outlook. For the rest is it the same.
If you don't clean your Outlook (contacts + appointments), it's possible you'll have everything twice. Tested it here (Netherlands) with a HTC P3600 (LVSW or mUn ROM), WMDC (Vista) and Outlook 2007.
Questions? PM me.
I have a Sharepoint Calendar on my network that is my primary calendar. the problem I have is that Activesync will only sync with the default Outlook Calendar. I have the Sharepoint calendar connected to Outlook 2007 but now way to sync it with the calendar on my phone, other than manually copying appointments from the SP calendar to the default Outlook calendar. I've searched for a few days now, not haven't found a good answer.
Any help on how to solve this would be greatly appreciated.
I want to install gingerbread but I have to sync by USB with outlook 2003 / 2007
Specially contacts an calendar tasks should be fine but is not a must.
Can somebody help me.
Thanks in advance
