XDA EXEC - Unlock - General Topics

Hi
can someone advise how to unlock XDA-EXEC on O2???? 8)
thx

XDA EXEC - Unlock!!!! Hahaha
Just start smiling get the new sim card from the other network, put it in your XDA Ex and enjoy the phone.
This is the JOY of it. THE PHONE WAS NEVER LOCKED. Unless if o2 decided to change and lock it after some of us got the phone.
I repeat NOT LOCKED AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

unlock
thx 8)

E. Gold- Using the phone on o2????????
Since you want to unlock the phone, do you intend to continue using o2 or not?
Your XDA Exe could perform even better but gettting rid of the o2 interface.
To do this do a hard reset. When phone starts chose the corporate intall and password is 0506.
You will have to reinstall other programs that you installed yourself.
Hope this helps

not **completely** true. The ones from online shop tend to be unlocked, but the ones from retail have been coming locked now.

do you have proof? or have you encountered it personally? experiences of friend's or friend's friend do not count.

tried my voda sim in their display one, it was locked.

Methods to SIM Unlock

METHOD 1: I purchased an unlock code that wroked first try....
COST $22
I would like to share my experience for those who do not want to get scammed.
IT WILL TAKE 24 hrs AT LEAST with these guys so don't set your pants on fire waiting !!! I have used this site for all my phones.
Send an email [email protected]. Send IMEI and carrier details, country of carrier.
Then use code to unlock. If you need help entering code please post back.
METHOD 2: I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS. BUT There is another method to unlock the phone using a USB hack. This has worked for most people who tried it. It involves running software on your computer to replace the unlock code location via USB with zeros. This method is covered here in more details:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617999
User experience is also available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25480419#post25480419
The ebay method seems to work for now. it can run from $15 -$17.

Nope. Unlocked is when you can use it on a carrier other than At&t. With the skyrocket you have to buy an unlock code. Bloatware is removed in custom roms.

Welcome !
They are different things. Unlocking is SIM card unlocking that then allows you to use your phone on any GSM network.
Removing bloatware requires "rooting". You get access to system files etc. allowing you to modify the software on there.
This a good starting point for Skyrocket to modify software:

Well thats interesting...
Use chainfire or galaxsim unlock. They require root.
Yes, what you need to do is enter the SIM card unlock code that your carrier should have provided you with when you bought the SIM card - if they didn't give you one you'll need to ask them for it.
This is a security feature of the SIM card, and is not the same a network lock, which is coded into the phone's firmware and prevents it from being used on other networks.
I bought the galaxy s2 "unlocked".
But after experimenting with android i noticed that the phone was someday locked to a network and it was unlocked ( using an application ) and sold as "unlocked".
When i installed the new jellybean firmware, in which the installation contains the modem tar file, automatically arranged the nv data file to locked as it was the first time.
Now I have unlocked the phone using the galaxy s unlock application and moved to cm10 again
Thanks

The carrier is often not a great help and they sometimes charge a fee for unlock code. Plus the waiting time is frustrating.
I contacted support where i bought my phone and they provided no help.
It seems my phone was originally locked to O2 telefonica even though I bought it "unlocked" online. I suspect a lot of the grey imports have this problem as they temporarily unlock it and then sell it as unlocked. If you need help unlocking it again they're not interested...
I will stick to only Google branded/play store from here on, then I wont need to flash (or wait until the phone is obsolete) before finally getting an update via Samsung.

Jumping on the end of this thread.
I have a i9100m (bell - canada) and I have the CM10 nightly on it now. Since then I decided to unlock the phone -seeing as there were so many apps that I could do it with.
Not one has succeeded - Every app I have tried, except the one that you have to pay for from the store.. ANYONE know how much btw??
We still have the Bell account - upgraded the phone on the account to a Siii - and they still want $75 to unlock the Sii - thieves!!!
Looking for a suggestion - nothing on the phone is needed yet.. so .. should I downgrade it.. unlock with something in a different rom.. then back to Cm10? or is the galaxsim pretty cheap.. will work on 4.1.2 and I go with that?

[Q] Unlocking International 10.1 GT-N8000

So a relative of mine came from Spain and he bought with his 10.1 3g version. I wanted to know how could I unlock it to use it here on either A&TT or T-Mobile. I having a hard time looking for a correct answer. If anyone could please direct me to the correct way of doing so.
THANKS !!!
Just dial the following keys *#197328640#
Can you try these steps?
Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF > (after choosing this option, wait about 30 seconds, then go back one step by pressing the Menu button then select Back, now you are in [6] Network Lock then choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ ..... wait for a minute then reboot your phone... enjoy!!! There is no confirmation on the phone that the unlock was successfull.... just reboot your phone....
To test, just insert a sim card from a different carrier/provider. If the new sim card works then your phone is now unlocked.
Tried what u said but I get to a point that I can't input what u said. [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF >
Here is what I see
Anyone ?? Else could help me out to unlock this...

I am not formally recommending this but you can try to sell it on craigslist as a 3g galaxy note tablet and then run.
I am not sure if it will work but what if we install a German Rom after doing a complete wipe should unlock it experts can comment

Try flashing another official ROM and repeat. Spanish carriers enjoy making things hard tinkering with their roms and of course will not unlock it for free
If everything else fails, I'd invest in a IMEI unlocking provider. It would be around 12€ for a Movistar/Vodafone Note. I think it's worth the price.
Since you seem to be colombiano, you'll have no problem following the instructions from spanish pages. I'd recommend you one or two.
I haven't rooted it yet since is not mine. But yes I'm colombiano lol n I don't mind paying the €12 if I can get the imei. I will try once again it got an update this week so will give it a go n try once again. Where are the pages in Spanish

If you think paying 12€ is worth, then you'll be happy to know that 2€ will do the magic.
I've just picked my N8000 Note from spanish carrier Movistar, rooted it following the tutorial available here on XDA, downloaded, GalaxSim Unlock (Spocky) from Google Play, ran it, bought the Pro version (just 2€), and it unlocked.
Estimated process time for somedbody who knows how to flash with Odin and then from Recovery, 15 minutes

Unlocking bootloader

Whenever I try to use the Asus unlocked tool to unlock my device it just says" an unknown error happend" i''ve been searching on this and couldn't find any thing helpful, I tried a tons of times over some weeks, haven't had any luck. Tried to factory reset it for then trying again. Tried to write to Asus ans they said they didn't offer support on this topic. Tried on different networks. So my question is now... Are there any other way than using the Asus tool?

There are 2 reasons I'm aware of for it to fail:
1. Your firewall/router doesn't allow the port. I have seen people fix it by tethering to their phone, etc
2. Your Mac address is not registered to the mother board serial number in the Asus database. Call them, get on their VIP site and tell them to fix it. Lots of people have had success.

If you contact them, I would not tell them that you want to unlock. Some users have been successful anyway, but some ran into a wall of: We do not support unlocking. Seems to depend on which rep you talk to.
Tell them you can't register for device tracker and can't get OTA updates. And please report back if and how you were successful - or not....
can't unlock the tf700t bootloader
hi, ... sorry for asking again ... i'm not able to unlock my tf700t. i really tried every method i found in this forum ... there should be a method without that unlock tool?! what is asus doing with that unlock tool?! do they send a new bootloader to install?! would it be possible to install an already unlocked and copied bootloader from one tf700t to another?!
here my little history, i was getting my device from amazon 2 years ago, there was also trouble to register this device with asus, but with help of the support i could do the registration. after that i installed all the official updates till 10.6.1.14.10, but getting pissed by the behaviour of the tablet with some pauses and sudden freezes and working again after thinking about whatoever ... so i wanted to try another rom with a hopefully better and smoother behaviour of the tablet. found that nice thing called unlock tool what i should need for unlocking the bootloader. running that tool since half year daily without success! i also opend a lot of support issues by asus, with the last answer "... it should work now, if not please send in the tablet". i can't believe that this should be the only way ...
so tried a lot: downgraded to v10.4.4.18 including full wipe of all data from two years and my little one is not happy about that ... tried v7 of unlock tool, no success! (with no other apps installed) upgraded again to v10.6.14.8, tried with v8 of unlock tool. not working! currently that's my status, plus additionally i rooted the device with motochopper and throw away some of the asus preinstalled crap ... i'm able to find my device via the asus device tracker, the device is registered with asus, but the unlock is impossible ... it freaks me out ...
so is there an option to have the locked bottloader overwritten with root permissions with an unlocked one?! and second where to get that unlocked one?! ...
thanks for an answer!

t-mobile's 8T+, root, and (future) roms

I see there are already rooting/unlocking bootloader instructions for the regular 8T. is there any reason I should hesitate before buying the 8T+?
my main concern is (future) 8T roms may not work on 8T+. but in general, seems like most OnePlus phones eventually get official LineageOS. so should I not worry about it?
obviously it'll be some time before roms are available regardless - that's fine. I'm more thinking about 2 years down the road.

Thats for sim unlock. There's no time requirement listed for the bootloader. Only need the sim unlocked prior. So if tforce is willing to whitelist the imei (which it sounds like they usually do if your nice about it) then it should be possible. It can take 2 days to get the unlock file but thats better than 2 years to pay off the device.

I am a non-American, so I have no idea how the stuff works there, but can't you guys buy a normal unlocked device and use any sim that you want? Any benefits of getting a carrier locked device?

Thats for sim unlock. There's no time requirement listed for the bootloader. Only need the sim unlocked prior. So if tforce is willing to whitelist the imei (which it sounds like they usually do if your nice about it) then it should be possible. It can take 2 days to get the unlock file but thats better than 2 years to pay off the device.

I got already a sim unlock and I tried already multiple times to request a Bootloader unlock code and gives me errors that I need to ender a valid code, so I chat with support and they told me there is a 45 days wait

Problem is that even when you do get your SIM unlocked you still have to wait 45 days from date of purchase to be able to request a Bootloader unlock code (according to OP)

Is their a model difference between the normal US version and T-Mobiles? Will it make any difference in bootloader unlock?

I literally had this phone 2 months, and had him unlock it using chat, and my special crafted message, during reading this thread! 2 minutes ...Would you like? (T-Mobile)
