Hi,
anybody managed to install TT5 to storage card? WM5 has so little memory so TomTom5 would be nice to get on card.
I don't understand why some progs wants to go devices own memory even I say install on storage card.
On the otherhand, I haven't got it working at all. I've installed the cabs and patched 5.21 exe with the backlight hex, but the first start process exits when I have selected the language for speech. This happens with and without the hex fix.
Click on ttn.cab. It is in your 2577 folder on the SD Card. Also have a look at

Hey! New here, read quite a bit... I have managed to Application unlock my phone and have been able to add mp3 ring tones. I am trying to install the .NET Framework for app I'd like to try but I am getting errors saying I can't install due to lack of space. Are there things I can delete? I moved all my pics n stuff to my 1gig card already. Can most applications be installed / run from the sd card?
Thanks for your input!

install netcf v2 in your storage card
There is a version that can be installed onto the storage card, I don't know why MS made this so difficult.
Search around, I forget exactly where the directions are, but someone did a nice write up tutorial.

thats's the right thing to do.
Thanks for the replies but still no go....
The NET install still fails even when I try to install on the SD card...
In the About tab I have
Avail storage = 4.29M
Total storage = 19.93M
Avail memory = 16.90M
Total memory = 45.05M
And I have a 1gig card installed and have mucho space there....

I am also facing the similar problems with installation of .NET Compact Framework and could not succeded yet. Can anyone suggest the solution for this problem. Thanks in advance.
Try to copy the CAB on you MiniSD then execute it from there..
The version of Net CF2 that can be installed on storage card is the service pack 1 version. It will install through ActiveSync, and when that happen, usually the file will be copied to the main memory first and then installed from there to whicever location is chosen. In this case, you will get an error saying that installation failed due to lack of space.
Just go to your ActiveSync folder in your desktop and you will see the CAB file there. Copy it over to your storage card and install from there.
.NET CF Installation
Even after executing the CAB file from storage card, it is giving the same problem. How to go ahead ?

Still could not able to install .NET CF2, even with the rapidshare download. Any other way ?
Same here... I haven't had any luck installing the .net pgm at all...
Maybe this bump might help us!

You need about 5.5M free on-board storage to get this to install. I had to move my entire /windows/appmgr folder to the storage card *temporarily* while I installed it. Then just moved it back after. This was the ONLY way I could get this to go...5.5M MINIMUM.
Good luck,
My friend just got TOPRAM 2GB miniSD and we try to setup his Wizard.
When I want to format (using card reader) this miniSD, should I choose FAT or FAT32 ?
Also is it possible to format card in Wizard itself and how ?
Thanks

software to format your card in your wizard
You can also access your storage card thru my computer. it will show up as a device with removable storage. use wm5torage.
You can use either FAT or FAT32, it doesn't matter. The wizard can read both of them. I always format my cards in a card reader because wizards sometimes have a problem seeing unformatted cards and you wont be able to access your card at all. To format format the card I always go through disk management in computer management under administrative tools in the control panel. If I remember right, if you just right click on the card in the card reader and then click on format it only gives you the option of FAT where disk management will give you the FAT32 option as well.
The reason I was asking is because I was able to format miniSD in card reader both FAT and FAT32 and put some data (CABs) to it using "My Computer", but ... when I try to install some CABs from that miniSD ... it just hangs.
So I was thinking ... may be it is because of wrong format. Now I believe that problem is in miniSD itself, because I was able to install same CABs from my other card.
You might try reformatting in FAT and see how that works. I've tried both on mine and there never seems to be much of a noticable difference. I've read that it might make a difference on older ROM versions. It deffinitely can't hurt anything to convert it to FAT and try again before giving up on the card.
I tried both FAT and FAT32 on BOTH cards. They all failed, both in very strange way ... I was able to read/write to the card using "My Computer". I was able to see files using Wizard "Explorer", but when I click CAB installation will start and then hang. Or one CAB will install, but second will hang.
Unpredictable
Both cards are miniSD 2GB from TopRam, from eBay power seller.
I'm not sure what you mean. Are you putting the cab files on your card and then installing them from there or are you putting the cab files in the \windows\start menu\programs and and then when they install you're choosing to have them install to the card and then they are failing? If it's the first one I mentioned, that might be the problem right there. I'm not so sure that SD cards are really made to be read from and written to at the same time and putting the cab files in the \windows\start menu\programs folder and installig from there would solve that issue. If it's the second one I mentioned, it might just be the programs that you're installing. I've had issues with several programs that when I tried to install them to my card they hung up and ended up actually corrupting my card. The fact that you have 2 cards doing the exact same thing makes me think that it may not be the cards that are at fault.

Im just guessing that you are using a ROM which uses mUn's latest 5.2.1413 as base. If that is the case, heres what i reccomend. Go back to a previous ROM which maybe uses mUn's previous release or farias rom as a base.
Why u ask? I have noticed that with ROM ver .1413, i either lose or see corrupt info on the SD card which on first boot is readable for a few minutes/seconds, but after i change the OS to say core 2.0 fior example, everything is back to normal on my SDcard.
I noticed this because just as u, i was trying to install some cabs off the card, the first was successful and the others just did nothing, on closer scrutiniy (tried playing songs stored on SD) i noticed that some files were missing and others corrupt.
just my advice, hope it works for u...
P.S. Everything was back to normal (all info was fine on SD) after going back to a previous version of OS
Hi,
I just started using an 16GB SDHC in my HTC-Panda (P6300) WM5. The SDHC was recognised inmediatelly without any patch nor driver. The memory manager also detects the SDHC and its real size. I was able to run programs, move files, etc. I copied all what I had in my previous SD card by using a backup I had in the PC.
My problem is now that I'm trying to install new programs in SDHC. Both from PC (using AS) and from PDA (Cab files) I see an error when trying to install in SDHC (it goes fine in RAM). I have also seen that free space in SDHC is not well calculated by installer (wceload).
Any idea? Are there a size limitation in wceload? Are there other loaders that can manage it?
Thanks
Hi,
I have got the setup.log file from My Device\Application Data\Volatile folder.
I have attached two of these files: the one showing the failure when installing in SDHC and another one that worked fine installing in as SD.
In the failing one it can be seen a couple of places where the word error appers as well as a stragne name for the installation path.
Any idea?
I have a medical app that requires me to install it directly to my storage card. Then when I plug my storage card back into my Fuze, the cab for the program is supposed to automatically begin installation. But no matter what I do, this is not happening, but I know the program install correctly. Where would this cab be hiding?

I could not understand why it should start automatically? If you are talking about Skyscape, once it is installed then it will not install again and again.
Let me explain. The program I am installing is called UptoDate. It copies all of it's files to your microSD card, and then when you insert your card into your Fuze, the phone is supposed to automatically detect the program, and ask if you want to install it. This is what is missing for me. My phone is not detecting the program, and it has in the past.
nevermind, I found the installation cab buried into the installation disk.
Hi there, i am not sure if anyone has experienced this problem, i tried to install these games ( Xtrat and Experiment 13 ) onto the storage card, but even though i clicked storage card, there were somehow being installed in the main memory of the device. I tried twice already and it is still the same. Any suggestion?
there's file path built-in in the cab...
if the files are hard coded.... I guess the only way is to rebuild the cab file....
that's what i was thinking. The built in memory for HD2 is quite limited. wish there is more....
thanks anyway
