I just want to transfer pages from books, directly into text on the mda

Sorry i know nothing about PDA's.
Basically i need a Windows based PDA which has the following features:
MS Word, Excel (& Access would be nice but not essential).
Large screen but a smallish handheld device.
Keyboard (preferable a flip/slide out one).
Comes with a cradle or has the option for a cradle for quick data transfer to pc.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm sure the K-JAM aka Wizard comes to most people's mind.
There's a forum dedicated to this device- check it out
...and on T-Mobile that would be the MDA Vario.
the only thing i want from my pda - is the correct reading of *.doc files! :!: I've tried TextMaker, but it's heavy, slow and unstable. :x It sometimes uses incorrect codings and corrupts russian fonts.
So it would be great to see Word Mobile 0.5 on PPC 2003
Or maybe someone knows some program, exept TextMaker, something light and fast, without extra functions, but able to read and save text with formating in Billy's *.doc files.
well if you have a himalaya device you could try to put wm2005 on it and see if the newer word is better
It is not possible to run applications compiled for WM5 on WM2003SE.
... but I have Alpine/ Imate PDA2, so it's a dead end! If I could upgrade to 5.0, maybe I wouldn't find this site ever!
Perhaps someone can help here. Since then I a MDA Vario with WM 5,0 use, can I in my SBS 2003 network the drive assemblies access, it do not appear IP. With my MDA3 2003WM it functions perfectly. Where the error can lie. Thanks
This is just an sudden idea, I haven't test it ^^
The theory is emulating wm2005 on your PC and then drag it to your Magician take some pictures or clips and upload to Youtube to surprise everyone ^^
But how???
first of all you have to find the wm2005 emulator somewhere on microsoft website
Buy and install a software called Innobec SideWindow that can extend the desktop of your PC to use the pocket PC as a second monitor
SideWindow transforms your PDA into a virtual desktop extension, allowing you to drag applications such as your favorite picture viewer, media player and instant messaging applications to your PDA while freeing your main display's real estate for something more useful. (some word from Innobec site)
Now install wm2005 emu and drag it to your pocket PC. Sidewindow use finger or stylus to interact with the applications as a mouse so you can work with wm2005 on Magician as a REAL ONE
Have fun my friend (and sorry for my bad English )
But wht if PC is not available?
fun idea.
I said it an idea for FUN and for whom who like to experience wm2005 running on their Magician for some hours when they 're at home
can anyone help me? I've been looking for a dictionary app for the hd2 and haven't had any luck! ino there is tons for the iphone so just woundering if there is any for this, thanks.
I am using "Langenscheidt Dictionary for Windows Mobile".
But I guess it's only available in german...
Install Microsoft Reader and then download the free Encarta Pocket Dictionary. I have used it for ages with other Windows Mobile devices. Actually can read various books with pocket Microsoft Reader. Ed
Edit.... Not sure Microsoft Reader will work with 6.5.... It appears the available app is for wm 6.1 maybe you could try it for us and report back. Regards
There are lots of dictionary apps for windows mobile.
Have a look at following links :

As a matter of fact I do think that there are lots of really good softs for windows mobile and they definitely can compete with Iphone ... and without the need to jailbreak or hack your own phone to be able to customize it a little bit !
But it is also a fact that it is more difficult to find the softs as there is no softaware catalog that could compete with the centralized AppStore : you have to search with google with a lots of keywords : Pocket PC, wm5, wm6, wm6.1, wm6.5, windows mobile and so on ...
<OFF TOPIC>
Yet the biggest enemy of Window Mobile in the ability to compete with Iphone is from my point of view ... Microsoft :
- With the aberrant conditions to entry MarketPlace for developers,
- And with their crappy windows phone 7 series that is maybe the biggest step backward in computer industry that I've ever seen,
they will totally kill Window Mobile and commit suicide to their mobile department !

Apart from "Encarta Pocket Dictionary" it is available the "Oxford English Dictionay" in .lit format for free some where in the net, and if you have a dictionary in .doc format (with hypertextual links) you can convert it to .lit format using the appropriate mirosoft word patch, all links will work in .lit too.
