Hi all,
I have a MDA compact that was flashed from German to English without a problem. I have noticed that on the xda's ftp site the ExtROM 1.01.124 WWE version for T-mobile has not been updated to a newer version. The O2 mini has an 1.03.166 ver, I-Mate UK has an 1.03.163 ver and the Qtek S100 has an 1.06.115 ver offered. :?: My question, is it that T-mobiles version so "rock solid" (stabile) that no updated are needed at this time while the other HTC magicians have mulitple udates??? I just don't understand :?

The T-mobile rom is one of the most stable and well engineered rom for htc. practically no bugs, no soft resets needec. I will never update this puppy.

Thanks for the reply, but, as a rule of thumb "never say never". I must say that I'm very satified whte the T-mobile rom but as far as I'm informed when I go to the T-mobile.de web and perhaps the Dutch web page there seems to be no support what so ever. This is what makes me very :evil: :evil: :evil: Hell, I-mate has their support site and so does O2, but not T-mobile.

To be sure, I had an Imate for three weeks and returned it to Amazon. (Sound isssues + camera) Yes, they offered support, but this was because their product is crap, so they constantly have to update it, currently, they are still waiting for a rom update to fix the sound. I mean, a phone that needs a Sound update for the Phone sound? Bunch of monkies those club imaters.
I am much happier with T-Mobile UK, no sound problems, no camera issues, no planned rom updates. AND NO SUPPORT.
Do you know why?
Because their engineers built it right the first time! So I hope you enjoy all the wonderful support from clubimate, I didn't...

I am a previous user of an HTC Blueangel and a SPV C500 when I was in France then I moved to UK where I choose a Blackberry 8700g but I am not feeling really happy with it.
I mean the Blackberry is a great handset in term of reliability and it is doing what it is supposed to. But it is not really a flexible. In fact, I found that the software range is really narrow and expensive. Also, I am missing the use of a stylus. However, the jog dial is really great.
Since I can use the MS Push mail with my company email, I am really thinking to switch back to a Pocket PC phone.
By the past, I really liked my SPV C500 but I don't think I can go for a Smartphone now, I think it won't be practical for writing email and so on.
To summarize I would be happy to have some people point of view of which handset would be the best for the following requirements (MS Push Email, I am not playing game, I am not using a GPS, I am using a Samsung bluetooth headset, listen to some music sometimes and watch some video sometimes, WIFI, sliding keyboard would be appreciated, possibility to use Skype or other VOIP system if possible.....).
Any help is much appreciated.
Finally, I have some newbie question:
- Is anybody using his Pocket PC with T-Mobile Web n walk in UK?
- If the device is not AKU is it possible to upgrade it to have this functionality (maybe flash firmware)?
- Does web n walk allow the use of MSN on T-Mobile UK Web n walk?
- For the MS Push Mail is it enough to have a data plan (like Web n Walk)?
Sorry for the long post. But I am a bit lost.

I think the new TyTn / Hermes will be perfect for you.
Sliding keyboard, AKU 3.0 with all it's goodies, WIFI G, BT 2.0 400MHZ processor and 2MP camera as a bonus (+ VGA camera for video calls).
I am not on T-MBILE but I can answer a couple of your questions:
1) All WM5 devices manufactured today come with at least AKU 2.0 newer devices come with AKU 3.0 and up. Some older devices get updates from the manufacturer but not all.
2) All you need for push mail is internet access (GPRS / UMTS / WIFI) and an Exchange server on the other side.

Oops. My mistake, somehow I remembered seeing it with the green windows screen.

What about he MDA Vario (i.e. Qtek 9100) is it good? I am a bit worried since the processor is only 200Mhz.
I will try to see if I can trade my blackberry against a Hermes or another one (with complement maybe).

It's pretty good - see for example my game reviews, where I also elaborate on the given title's playability on the Wizard.

Get the Vario II (Not the Vario)
Vario = Wizard = 200MHz
Vario II = Hermes = 400MHz
i have had wm6 will running on the Magician it runs ok all the problem is the sound doesent work phone call ects work with no problems and the camera and voice command shortcut dont work but i am sure some 1 could make a modified rom to sort this small problems out

Oh no... the story is about to start all over again... once with WM5, now with WM6... the only breakthru we had was Big Storage by some russian guy... but he was never seen again. I wonder whether he'd have the knowledge to put any new OS on the Magician... if yes, I reckon I'd sell my <whisper>TyTN</whisper>...
its not a joke it will pop a picture on soon as pos should be later i used wm6 download of a download site that is named fotos.rar i will have use the girlfreinds phone cam to take the pics

as i said before it does work ok but the speaker for ringtones doesent work so some one will have to mod the rom as i am not any good at that i can also post a backup of the rom wm6 on Magician if that is allowed if i can figger out how back it up

No i think it is a good phone, but ... you will stick to WM2003
im happy with the Jam, My wife has the prophet which uses WM05. WM05 is lacking some stuff i use all the time in WM03 like the memory balance
Jam (Magician) is not that bad.. as a matter of fact, some prefer Jam for their speed over the WM5 devices. And some prefer the WM2003 stuff, like an interesting example, the Word in WM2003 enables you to hand-write and type in the same document, while Word in WM5 doesnt allow you to do that. If you can hold down your though of.. the grass on the other side looks greener.. Jam is just another good device.

It is only a program to block the screen. I proved it and I uninstall, because it consumes much battery when resident remaining.

maciasp, on the video is the htc home screen installed, the one that we can find in wm 6.1. that link that you provided is only an application, but, is like the iphone one, i have that allready. if you see the video, he is watching at the weather, the htc touchflo cube 3D, things that i don't think that are on winterface.
I've comunicated via msn with the owner of that phone, and it is not a magician, but a charmer.
So dont keep your hopes on running wm6 on the magician
qtek s100 and qtek s110 are using same platform, only some small differences are between them. so, i'm still waiting an idea about that rom or what is it. i tried to contact him on msn or yahoo messenger, but without any luck.
P.S. just a clarification: qtek s100 is the same as spv m500, magician, o2 xda II mini, etc.

thats clearly an s200! (probably with a grey casing)
s100 and s110 can not run wm6.
only a charmer can and that is s200 not s110 or s100
i had qtek s100, 110 and s200, and trust me, i know them very well. first of all, the keys aren't the same, second, the led from the operator signal isn't the same, and i'm telling you all of this from my experience. i'm attaching printscreens with qtek s110 and s200 exactly with the differences.

and..if you look more carrefuly at the video, at the end, he is rotating the device, and it is looking exactly like qtek s110, and not s200, and the comm manager button doesn't seem to be anywhere on the left side of the device (the one from the video):
s200 comes in 2 different looks. the one which you have shown here having different styled keys and the other one which looks exactly like s110 with no difference in looks.

Since getting my Rhodium, I've been away from these boards for a while. I still have my Kaiser in case I need a backup, but it's been some time since I've researched/flashed ROMs for it (see last ROM in signature).
I've just skimmed through the ROM developer forum, but not all chefs list their last ROM revision date within their subject lines. Can anyone tell me if there are any chefs that are still cooking for the Kaiser and which ROMs they are? If not, can someone point me to the latest Kaiser ROM(s) that is known to still work well?
With all the new devices that have come along, I realize that the Kaiser is considered a dinosaur right now, but the device has always worked well for me and I still consider it a treasured backup, if my Rhodium (God forbid!) should bite the dust.

Very soon i publish my ROM in XDA.

i'm about to buy a very cheap kaiser and was very curious how it preforms.
So found out it pretty much sux because of the lack of drivers,
at least that's what Google and Youtube showed me.
My question to you is: Do the new roms fix this problem
Or will i be stuck whit a non multimedia able device?

The Kaiser can be very performant with Android although when I compared my experience there with any WM ROM I tried, Android seemed to win most of the time...
In my experience, even with a class 6 MicroSD card, you wont really be happy if you don't run Android from NAND, IMO. There were times when the phone app wouldn't load quite fast enough (maybe just the first time or when android needed more memory) so I would miss a call, which is unacceptable.
Personally I recommend Myn's warm donut since it seemed to give you more space and good performance, but things may have changed. There's a CM build for Kaiser, too. Additionally, if you feel adventurous, you can overclock the kaiser with Android (maybe you can with WinCE but I don't know).
That said -- since I don't think you're buying it to play games, it works well as a WM device, too. I have the HTC EVO and I still keep my Kaiser. When I had a WinCE ROM on it, I even had a tiny web server (Microsoft's) running off it.
One thing to make sure before you buy it is if the 3G radio works. This is important and it's easy to be deceived at first glance to seem like it is working when it is not. My Kaiser's 3G radio has always been dead but you can use software to disable attempting to use it.

Kaiserul (TyTN II) este telefonul meu de 2 ani de zile. Am instalat si reinstalat Windows Mobile si Android. Cam toate ROM-urile de pe aici le-am incercat. Intreaba exact ce doresti (scrie si PM).
