So i have written a simple script to ease the process of editing apks. Got a lot of downloads so thought its in demand
Whether you're doing basic image editing or editing the smali or xml files, on average u have to use (Brut.all or JF's smali/baksmali) awesome tool to extract the apk, edit it, then sign the apk and then adb push/install it. This process is quite tiresome if you are testing a method that needs fine tweaking.
This script should make the process a LOT smoother.
Theres an option of compiling/signing/installing all in one step
Thanks:
Goes to Brut.all for his awesome tool.
Goes to JF for ofcourse, smali/baksmali
Goes to farmatito for porting this script to linux
Features:
- Extract, Zip apk's.
- Optimize pngs (ignores .9.pngs)
- Zipalign apks
- Sign apks
- Push to specific location on phone
- Incorporates brut.all's apktool
- Pull apk from phone into modding environment.
- Batch optimize apk (Zipalign,optipng,or both)
- Quick sign an apk (Batch mode supported)
- Batch Ogg optimization
- Compression level selector (monitor status above menu)
- Batch install apk from script (option 16)
- Logging on/off has been removed. Instead a log.txt is created which logs the activities of the script organized using time/date headers
- User can change the max java heap size (only use if certain large apks get stuck when decompiling/compiling apks) (Option 19)
- Improved syntax of questions/answers
- Error detection. Checks if error occured anytime u perform a task, and reports it
- Read log (Option 20)
- U can now set this script as ur default application for apks. When u do, if u double click any apk it will install it for u.
- Supports batch installation, so if u drag multiple apks into the script (not while its running) it will install them all for u. U can ofcourse drag a single apk as well
- Added framework dependent decompiling (For non propietary rom apks). (Option 10). Checks whether the dependee apk u selected is correct.
- Allows multiple projects to be modified, switch to and from.
- Allows to modify system apk's using apktool but ensures maximum compatibility in terms of signature / manifest.xml
- Stuff i forgot i guess
Instructions (Windows):
- Place apk in appropriate folder (Any filename will work, if running for first time folders will not be there, you must run and then the folders will be created)
- Run script
- Minimize the script
- Edit files inside the project folder
- Maximize the script
Instructions (Linux):
- Place apk in appropriate folder (Any filename will work, if running for first time folders will not be there, you must run and then the folders will be created)
- Open terminal and change-directory to apkmanager (Easiest way is to type "cd ")
- Chmod 755 Script.sh
- Chmod 755 all files apps inside other folder (thanks for the tip bkmo )
- Run script by typing ./Script.sh
- Minimize the script
- Edit files inside the out folder
- Maximize the script
Requirements:
Java
Adb
Future Improvements:
- Manage multiple simultaneous apk edits (choose which apk to extract/build)
- Option to optimize the apks
- Option to adb push to user defined location
- Other stuff i dont know yet
Got problems ?
1. Make sure your path has no spaces
2. Your filename has no wierd characters
3. Java/adb are in your path
4. It's not a proprietary rom's apk (aka Sense,Motorola,Samsung) (If u are, then use option 11 and drag the required framework, eg com.htc.resources, twframework-res...etc)
5. It's not a themed apk (if it is, expect .9 png errors, use as close to stock as possible)
6. Look at the log to know whats happening
7. If all else fails, post as much info as possible and we will try to assist you.
MOD EDIT:

Nice
As you probably know, I want to add signing and installing functionality to apktool. But I don't plan to make any kind of GUI for it, so such wrapper is a very good thing for many users, thanks
What is "Option to optimize the apks"?
I was thinking of incorporating the script "apkopt" it was basically using optipng to optimize the png's and then used zip align on the apks. Thanks btw, this tool wudnt exist without ur awesome script
I just did this so ppl would stop asking questions like "How do i change this/that in an app"
Here this is wht im talking about Link
Very nice
Thanks dude...
once again you manage to make modding easier with your scripts!
Does your apkopt avoid .9.png files? Because those have been a pain in the behind.
Re: Apk Manager 1.0 - Makes Modifying Ur Apk A Breeze
my script currently does not optimize apks. it will be in the upcoming updates and yea prolly when ill implement itll avoid .9.pngs lol
I have already incorporated "adb push" into the script.
Aside from adding an option to optimize the apks, is there anything else you guys think would make this script easier to use ?
Im really targetting those ppl who overcomplicate the simple process of editing apks. Any tips would be appreciated.
I posted a video attached to the main post.
New version out, features added are
Zipalign apks
Optimize pngs, ignores .9.pngs
allows to adb push to phone through script.
Great script man, it works flawlessly. You may just wanna edit your post #1 rather than continuously bumping with new posts for every update. I'm sure a mod won't be too pleased with that
I'm getting the
'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch filemessage when I attempt to sign an apk. I tried switching the PATH in Environment Variables so that it's pointing to my Java bin folder, but then I just end up with
java.io.FileNotFoundException: ..\place-apk-here\repackaged-unsigned.apk <The system cannot find the file specified>

Could Not Find C:\ApkManager2.0\place-apk-here\../place-apk-here/repackaged-unsigned.apkHelp? :]
What app are you trying to edit ? also are you editing pngs only or code editing ?
Hop on Here im helping someone out so ill help u 2
There's a lot of things in /system that benefit from the optimized .pngs. Vending.apk, for instance, shrunk to half the size and runs a bit quicker and smoother now. Even framework-res.apk enjoyed the optimization. Paid apps, on the other hand, don't seem to fare so well; perhaps they check the md5sum of the app or something.
Yea png optimization works for almost all apks, zipalign on the other hand as i recall doesnt work on certain system apks such as settings.apk. Im prolly gonna incorporate apkopt's script into this which would allow to optimize a folder full of apks. As for paid apps not being optimized, a lot of dev already do their part on making the apk as small as possible, so perhaps thats the case.
hmm, after trying a couple of unpaid apps, it seems that perhaps the testkeys aren't compatible with my build. For any signed app, I get an error "Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE]"
Yes when u modify a non system apk, they need to be resigned, and you cannot resign it with same key as dev cuz u dont know it hence anytime u modify an app, u must uninstall it, install the modded version, and from then on any change u make u dont have to uninstall as the keys will match
ahhh thanks. My mistake was just removing the package rather than uninstalling it.
Getting this on a zipalign. The file is there but it is repackaged-unsigned.apk and throws this error:
Please make your decision: 5
Unable to open 'E:\ApkManager\place-apk-here\repackaged-signed.apk' as zip archi
ve
Could Not Find E:\ApkManager\place-apk-here\repackaged-signed.apk
The system cannot find the file specified.
Nevermind....looks like it is by design that it tries both signed and unsigned and throws the error on the file that does not exist. It's just I did not see any zipalign output
having an issue that when I go to resign an apk the file deletes after running the script.. am I missing something here?
"How To Make Widget Skins Transparent"
TOOLS needed: 7zip or Winrar and ApkManager v4.9* by Daneshm90 of xda
1. Transfer the apk from your phone to your computer. It's probably in a place like data/app or data/data or the like
2. Open the apk with 7zip (or Winrar). Do not extract the whole thing, just open it. Inside you'll see a folder called "res"; transfer that somewhere on your computer.
3. Inside the res folder you'll see a bunch of folders. The images you want to edit are usually in a folder labeled "drawable", but you may have to look elsewhere
4. Find the background image you want to edit. It might be labeled widget_bg or something helpful like that.
5. Edit it how you want. In the case of transparency, you want to delete the background and make it entirely transparent. Save it in the same format and do not change the name. (Note- if your file has .9.png in it, you're dealing with something else. I can't really help you on this)
6. Drag the res folder with your modified images back into the archive, using 7zip. You might want to use a duplicate of the apk, just to have the original on hand in case something goes wrong.
8. Place the modified apk into the place-apk-here-for-modding folder in the APK Manager folder
9. Open up script.bat. Select your project using option 22.
10. Do the following things- Extract APK (1), Zip APK (3), zip as regular apk (2), sign apk (4)
At this point you should have a signed version of the apk in the place-apk-here-for-modding folder. You can transfer it to your phone now and install it. Or install it directly onto your phone through apk manager if you have ADB enabled.

Sorry mate if its allready been posted but the link you gave dosn't open
This is a rough post at the moment.
The goal of this is too enable some cool and disable some annoying things on the stock LG G3.
Things needed to do this
-Root
-file manager
-IQ above 70
Version 1.0
-Disables the CMAS except for Amber Alerts because that is actually important.
-Enable delivery and read reports. *need to test *
Upcoming things
-mms compression (I argue the network limit theory)
-other stuff
*Compatability*
I own and used a D850 apk. The app may or may not work for everyone. It does have all the variants it seems though.
*Liability*
I am not responsible for breaking anything do with your phone by any said person who makes any attempt to install/replace the stock app with this app.
*Installation*
-File location is /system/priv-app/LGMessages.apk
First copy the original app and Odex file somewhere safe and delete the stock app called LG messages.apk and the corresponding .Odex file.
Secondly copy the modified app to your internal storage or SD card. The copy it to your priv-app folder.
*SET PERMISSIONS TO 644 OR RW-R-R*
Lastly reboot and enjoy

Here's an fully customizable MMS.APK you can use that works with the LG G3 I have it installed in System/App with no errors just make sure you enable it as default.
Install:
You need to use an explorer app to rename the LGUSMms.apk and odex files to LGUSMms.apk.bak and the same to the odex one. The delivery reports and read reports work. I hope you like this or whoever tries it. Happy texting!!!

I accidentally remove my magazine unlock folder with wall the magazine pictures.
After I restarted my phone I was able to download again the standard magazine pictures (but only the default ones in Chinese) although I have subscribe the English categories: Fashion, Life, Car and Travel.
When I try to check for updates for those categories they said that is already updated but I got no images.
I'm using emui 3.0 v5.2.16 and my phone id H60-L02, does anyone know how can i make it download the pictures again?
Or if someone got the categories: Fashion, Life, Car and Travel subscribe can send me a copy of the MagazineUnlock folder, is located on the root of the internal sdcard.
Thank you.
Same here if anyone??
I have updated too and don't have original one, only chinese version.
But I found a method to change the photos and add your favourites to magazine unlock
- Go to folder HWThemes/magazine/Balance(magazine)/ and copy all the .apply files
- Rename one of them in .zip and extract the content
- Repace the images with yours OR add them to the folder and add a new line in the layout_balance.xml that you find in the folder
- create a .zip file selecting all the files
- rename the .zip to 01.apply (or number that you want)
- copy the file in the original folder (the one on the first pass of this tut)
- go in theme manager and re-apply balance theme
- select the photo's folder that you want in the Settings of the magazine unlock
Done

hi guys
i am going to make a guide for how to make a custom rom for yourself without a pc.
so straight forward first check that you have following things.
1--> a android device (rooted)
2--> clockworkmod recovery installed
3--> 100% battery
4--> atleast 1.5 GB free on external SD card
BEFORE STARTING THIS METHOD I RECOMMEND YOU TO TAKE A PRINTOUT OF WHAT THIS GUIDE SAYS BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO DO WORK WITHOUT A PC ON A NON MULTITASKING ANDROID AND LOOKING TO XDA SITE OR APP EVERY TIME IS NOT A GOOD IDEA.
STEP ONE :>
First of all move all your data on internal sd card to external one and then do a factory reset.
After that goto recovery mode and follow
wipe data
wipe catch
backup and restore --> backup.
after having a nandroid backup. turn on the device normally. and just install es file explorer(it is good and provide lots of options).
STEP TWO :>
now you have a nandroid backup. goto that folder and open it. there are many files and one of them is system.******* . now copy that to a new folder where you will make a rom and paste it {remember to copy only do not cut or disturbe the original copy in backup folder just copy it}.
in the new folder look at the name system.*** you will get the original extension of that file its either .rar or .tar or.zip
now rename it as system.(the extension you found)
after renamming it just extract it and you will edit in this folder to make a new rom.
STEP THREE :>
in that folder you will see many folders just have a look at all folders and write names of those folder which have .apk files in it on paper. now those folder which have apk files are to be edited.
THERE ARE TWO TYPER OF ROME
1--> DEODEXED {HAVING ONLY .APK FILES IN THOSE FOLDER}
2--> ODEXED {HAVING .ODEX FILE WITH .APK FILES IN THOSE FOLDER}
DESIDE WHATS YOUR ROME TYPE AND FOLLOW THW GUIDE SERIOUSLY
FOR DEODEXED ROM --> now you have to give shape to your rom. i will provide you with list of apps you can change in custom rom.
launcher
gallery
camera
lockscreen
keyboard
calculator
gapps
internet brouser
file manager
you can add special apps to your device like screen recording software
and remove the default apps listed above {first remove default app and then paste the app you like}
FOR ODEXED ROM --> now you have to give shape to your rom. i will provide you with list of apps you can change in custom rom.
launcher
gallery
camera
lockscreen
keyboard
calculator
gapps
internet brouser
file manager
you can add special apps to your device like screen recording software
and remove the default apps listed above
first delete the app and its odex file and then past the new app{if you leave odex there for default app the new app wil be transformed to older once so delete odex of only those apps which you cange}
STEP FOUR :>
now you have apps of your choice and you are exited to test it.
but now its time for trickest part editing build.prop in system
inside system folder you extracted there is a file named build.prop open it and start editing
#change lcd screen density
ro.lcd_density = {increase for magnified view and decrease for a zoomed out view}
#change ram alootment to apps
delvic.vm.heapgrowthlimit = set only one value {68, 96, 124 ,256} {set a higher value than default in your file}
delvic.vm.heapsize = ste higher value than heapgrowthlimit, set only one value {96, 124 ,256} {set a higher value than default in your file}
#to get navigation bar at the bottom with three icons
qemu.hw.mainkeys = 0
save these changes {these lines are not to be edited they are there in that file only change the values ok}
STEP FIVE :>
copy the nandroid folder onto pc and save a copy of that nandroid backup on pc.
YOU HAVE MADE A CUSROM ROM BUT IT CANT BE FLASHED SO NOT GOTO THE SYSTEM FOLDER WHERE YOU EXTRACTED IT AND SELECT ALL FOLDERS INSIDE IT AND MAKE A SAME EXTENSION FILE WHICH YOU EXTRACTED IT FROM {select all folders inside system folder and make same extension file do not just select the system folder from outside go inside the folder and then do that ok}
for this step you will need a pc ofcoz.
STEP SIX :>
GREAT JOB YOU HAVE A SYSTEM.XXX RENAME IT LIKE THE NANDROID BACKUP ONE AND REPLACE THE ORIGINAL SYSTE, FILE WITH YOUR MODDED ON AND JUST CROSS YOUR FINGURES.
all steps are complete and not its time to reboot to recovert
wipe data
wipe catch
advance/wipe delvic catch
backup andrestore/advance restore/restore system
and its done first boot will take time and you have a custom rome made for yourrself on android and time to test it.
remember if you face any problem just use that nandroid which you saved on pc the original one and restore that to go back to custom rom.
if this guide helped please hit thanks.
