Anyone (ITSME/BUZZ are you listening!?!) know a way of using an MS format BIN file to flash the magician?
Tried converting using OSImageTool.exe, but when I dump to SD and hard reset with power & camera, I dont get the prompt to flash (do when I extract my orig rom, then extract that to nb1 using ntrw, then back again to card from same nb1 file)....
Isn't BIN just an image format that you can mount in Windows with third party tools like Alcohol 120% or Deamontools?
possibly, but I platform builder creates a bin file, and its this i need to get to the magician. (PB doesnt seem to allow me to connect via usb - serial connection only....)
The thinking is to convert it to a format that romupdate/romupgradeut will be able to use...
Incidently for those in the know this is a v5 format file....

Well here I am stupified. I updated the ROM to a WM6 the phone works well with one exception USB and Blue tooth connections will not work. I am struggling with an sd card update ( to reinstall another rom) , but have failed so far. Any suggestions as to how to have my phone talk to th epc again. I can use the sd to get files back and forth. Obviously I am a novice.Txs

Are you using XP or Vista to do the upgrade?
In case you have a preproduction HERMES and you can not update the ROM (due to the fact that your bootloader is <1.04) here the very easy solution:
- format a SD card with FAT32
- extract the .NBH file from the rom image you like
- rename the .NBH to HERMIMG.NBH and copy it to your SD card
- put SD card in phone and start it in bootloader (hold OK button on left side and POWER button at same time and stick with stylus in RESET on bottom)
- confirm flashing on screen
- flashing might hang after some time but this is normal. Just wait. Complete flash takes about 30 minutes.
This also works for normal (non preproduction) devices but keep in mind that if the CID does not match the flashing might not work.

where is the .nbh file coming from? is this the org rom download?

Just go to the Hermes forums and look for a rom that you like over there and download the package. More than likely, the zip/rar file will have the upgrading tools as well as a file called nk.nbh. This is your rom. Just do as nir36 said and you should be fine.

I then succesfully uploaded a vanilla 2d from josh. As the phone went dead( nirvana) a couple of timnes i tried to use a different rom
which i could upload, afterwards though the phone works but no bluetooth or usb connection hence no contact to activity sys and no restoring of my contacts.
Am i bricked or what is it. Can I somehowe eras all info and start from scratch?
MAin concern is I cannot get my huge contact list back in the phone

I botted into the bootmaster connected to my computer and installed via "olliinstaller" a new rom told the softawre to ignore and safe hard boot.
It worked .

I broke my usb connector port. So Im stuck with the same rom, Is there any program that can let me load a rom on my i900, and then flash? I dont think file explorer lets u open .exe roms Maybe total commander?
maybe you need to extract .bin file and flash using sd card. executable for desctop pc won't run on ppc.

Hello! Before posting, i search this forum but not found nothing understandable. I wont to modify .ftf file of sony xperia e single sim, edit some apps and repack in fleshable ftf again, but i have some problems. Ok i'm doo next:
1. Extract flashtool via winrar.
2. Copy system.sin to flashtool directory and extract with sin editor, and get 2 files system.ext4 and system.partinfo, but with flashtool only possible to extract yaffs2 files. 3. Here is big problem, i tryed menny softwares for opening ext4 images in windows, but only ext2 exploer can modify this files, but totaly inaccesible with screen readers like as jaws.
4. I found some tutoryals for mounting in linux but i can not understand linux commands as well, for example did i must know exactly syze of system partition to mount ext4 image, maby exist some gui program for linux from wich can mount end edit ext4 images?
Finally, does possible making flashable img or ftf file for sonny phones for custom roms? For example, easyer to me is flashing custom roms via fastboot, because in some situations for cm recovery i need sited assistance.

I have looked around to repack an extacted system.sin but never found how to do it. To dump the ext4 img just use ext2 explorer after it has finished extracting & loading click save in the toolbar and choose the folder where you want to save it.

hello! I can't found ext2 explorer, i only found ext2explore, but this software is totaly unusable for me, don't works with screen readers.
P. s. whats your problem when you try making system.sin?

There's no tutorial on how to build one or a tool. Not for windows anyway.
I have been searching for long time, just trying to find a tool to make a system image after all needed apps are installed. like imagex, Ghost, Acronis or clonzila on Windows, so i can use that image to restore into other device.
I dont want to install all apps on over 50+ android devices (MK902) over and over again......so there must be something i can use to load a rooted .img file with all configured apps....
the .img file can be loaded by using RK Batch tool, but how to make a .img file with all apps installed?
Anyone has any idea?
as far as i know, there is no such software that does that. only way i know is to make a disk image of the partition using DD command in linux or using Roadkill (link is from my own backup) to make a copy of the whole partition table of your phone while it is on download mode.
