MDA compact ./. THB Bury Carkit: Problem with Patch - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

HI everyone,
first post
There is a Patch for enableing the THB carkit to provide a proper muting of the radio. This patch is really slow. This means that it takes at least 2 sec. to mute the radio. This is no problem while using the phone, but it is while using TomTom Navigator.
Now heres what I hope you can do or already did:
Either maybe someone has a better (faster) patch or maybe it is possible to let the TomTom application somehow never use the tel. mute function so that the build in speaker is used.
Thank sou for your answers...

ben

nobody?
Thank you all anyway....

So, what is this pacth doing exactly? Where do you got it from?
For which car kit is ths patch?
I`m using a THB Bluetooth Car kit, but without muting radio, so i can not test it or say anything about it...
Stefan

Thank you for your reply,
the patch is for the dedicated phone specific cradle wich is available from THB for the MDA compact. The pacth is obviously needed for muting the radio at all. In fact the car kit doesn´t recognise the phone "is in a call" without the patch.
Heres my actual idea:
It seems that only some kinds of audio files are supported for beeing routed to the car kit. E.G. an *.wma doesn´t activate the muting even with the patch. So I´ll try to convert all TomTom5 announcments into *.wma so that they are not routed to the car kit and therewith don´t mute the radio. This is, if it works, an easy and acceptable workaround.
I´ll post wether it worked later.
I´d appreciate anyone having a better or diffrent solution and posting it here.
best,
ben

Hi Ben,
I'm still waiting for my THB carkit and cradle, so I can't help you at this very moment.
What I wanted to know about this kit: is it possible to play music via the radio??

Playing Music
Hi corny749,
you actually are able to listen to music with the carkit. Unfortunately the music is filtered just as a phonecall is by the blackbox. This means that the audio frequencies are not transmitted linear. So the music doesn´t sound very good.
However I hope to here from you in the future. Maybe you´ll find a solution for the patch problem.
best,
ben

MDA2 Carkit is silent after upgrading ROM

Hi,
I've got a problem with my carkit (O2 XDA-Carkit) after I upgrade to the new ROM-Version of T-Mobile (1.60).
With the old Rom-Version, the carkit works as a loadspeaker for all kind of sound. The voice-instructions from tomtom for example, came out of the carkit-speaker loud and clearly. Each kind of sound, the device made, came out of the speaker of the carkit.
Now, after upgrading to the new ROM, only the telephone works with the speaker of the carkit. With Incoming or outgoing calls I can use the carkit as usual...the speaker works and the mikro works also. But every other sound (e.g. tomtom voice-instructions) came direktly out of the speaker of the mda2 in a poor quality.
Some hints, how I could use my carkit again as a speaker for all kind of sound without goinig back to the old ROM ?
Any other kind of hints...maybe to use a bluetooth headset therefor (so that all kind of sound came out of the headset....not only telephone...I've got a Plantronics Headset...but also only the telephone works)
thx for help
best regards
rob.
Yep.......I have the same problem here.......don't know why they changed settings on the handsfree profile here.
Another thing you will find out is that the charging is very slow on the XDA carkit with the XDA II. If you run TomTom, Yeti and a bright screen the xda II will not charge, but drain!!
It has something to do with the wiring of the interface, but unless someone will come up with a solution I will go for a new carkit or a BT solution. (It's a bloody shame though it doesn't work properly with the XDA carkit! )
Hi,
the charging-problem is also a mess.
I think, the problem is only the GPS-driver from tomtom. In my tests, only when the GPS-driver is loaded, the battery-power goes down. With stopping the GPS-driver, the battery will charge again, but only, if the battery-power is more than about 75 - 80%.
If the battery is less than 75%, it will not charge at all, even if, there is no App runnung and the screen is off.
You said, you will go for a new carkit or bluetooth-solution. Do you know a carkit or bluetooth-solution, wich offers the feature, that all sounds (tomtom instuctions...etc.) came out of a loadspeaker or thru a headset (without connecting the wired headphone ;-)
As far as I know, at the moment all devices works only with the telephone-funktion....
best regards
rob.
Same here,
i have build my own carkit, and have put ground to pin 19,
sound was normally going though the connector to my car stereo
now it doenst anymore
I am sure this isnt a hardware thing it is software
could be the settings on the handsfree profile. on the xda2...
this is very very frustrating. just being finished with my carkit and now i cant use it anymore
also you cant set the phone to speakermode anymore..

Does anybody know how to change this back?
I found that the registry points to a certain file in your windows directory: HandsFree_Dll.dll
(I found this here: HKLM\Services\Handsfree)
Can someone with the old 1.03 ROM please upload this file so i can try if this solves the problem...
TIA,
Max
Akira, Max :
I am building my own car kit, and have no success.
I do not obtain audio out with or without grounding pin 19.
I'm running Rom 1.60.00WWE.
Did you solve your problem ??
I must correct my last update.
I obtain audio when in phone mode, but not during playing waves or TomTom directions. Even Ring Tones do not go out trough the bottom connector.
So is it a software problem ?
Can it be corrected ?

problems with carkit

Hi there,
I have recently upgraded my Himalaya device to WM5 but just found out yesterday that the audio does not go via the carkit, but just uses the internal speaker.
With the 2003 version, all audio (music, TomTom, phone) went through the carkit to the external speaker. Now, with the same carkit, only the phone audio goes via the external speaker.
I use the pro-install active carkit, together with a GPS receiver attached to it.
Anyone have any info to get this working again?
Thanx.
Same problem here only with a different wayfinder (I use Alturion)
The support of Alturion told me to use WM2003 but that's not I want to.
Hi,

bypass headset earphone jack switch

Hi,
Before I start creating an application that would bypass the headset earphone jack switch(the one the activates once you insert a headset), I would like to know or find out first, if it is programatically possilble to bypass this manually by a registry setting or an application. If yes, kindly advice as to where I should start.
I found similar application while searching for solution to
fix sound problem while using VOIP on Titan/Mogul
and other HTC devices. It was writen for ETEN but
to my disapoitment doesnt work on the Titan

Hi,
As I understand it the HTC models that do have an FM Radio build in can switch the FM Radio output the the main speaker even while the headset is plugged in. It needs to be pluggen in; it's theis antenne. So my guess is that it must be possible. I myself would be very interested in such a program.
Good luck, hope you'll sucseed,
Cheers,
Cactus

yup
anybody out there who could point me in the right direction? where should i start...?
still no luck on this - pls help, even just to point us in the right direction
i've search desperately but no luck i know it is possible; first because the built fm radio application can stream through both speaker and earphone. second, i run into a bluetooth app that can divert/stream audio(not only calls). this leads me to conclude, that is it possible. i just don't have infos i need to create one. i've read many msdn articles, tutorials but still no luck that is specific.
please to all the programmers out there, help us. this is just a very simple app and it would hurt 5mins of your time just to point me in the right direction. I am most willing to view/review servelar even tons of source codes that is very similar or close to the solution we are looking for, you just have to share it to us. thank you. i hope somebody out there could help us.

In the registry:
HKLM/System/State/Hardware
change the key "Headset" 0 to 1.
but the headphones works like antenna and you dont hear any radio station.

thank you ryomahino, for taking time to reply. i'm already aware of this registry work around and have done this already, but the hardware switch still persists. aslo sometimes or when you reset, it does not persists. so the only solution is having at switch, that will run the audio both on the headset and speaker, pretty much like what the fm radio does, but must also work on calls, together with the microphone. im pretty sure this is very much simple for those experience programmers out there. if we put together that fm radio and bluetooth audio capability then this would work. just need a little push/help as to where start. or if I could look into those source codes then we are ready to go...
technical question on fm radio app
Gurus/programmers/anybody,
Does anybody know, or at the least, give me an idea, as to how the o2 xda atom build in fm radio application, programmatically (technically) toggle from stereo headset to speaker? Just even, point me to the right direction, pls, I'll read tons of infos, if need be...
Had same problem on my Raphael, here is what I did:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444581
Maybe this or similar would help you as a workaround too.....
this app would be great for htc touch hd!
i use normal 3,5inch headphones to listen to music but when i do a call i always have to plug them out! would be nice to have an app that automatically disables headset when you are in a call so you can have your headphones attached but still talk with the phone!
Moved to Q&A section

Raphael + Bluetooth + car stereo

I'm having problems using my Raphael in combination with a JVC KT-BT1 car stereo.
When, for example, I'm running TomTom, and the phone is connected to the car stereo, all sound is sent to the car stereo through A2DP. No problems there, BUT: the start of each route description is cut off. It looks like the connection has to be set up every time TomTom says something.
One way to solve this is to keep for example a media player running in the background, so that the A2DP connection 'stays alive'. This is however obviously not a nice way to fix this.
I must say that I've had the very same problem with my previous phone (N95), so I'm kind of suspecting it to be a stereo's problem. However, I do hope someone else has come across this issue and knows how to fix this.
Is there a 'A2DP_keep_alive = true' setting somewhere?
Thanks!
There was a setting for this afaik, it is somewhere in the Hermes section. I tried it, but it has a downside as well (although maybe there's a fix for that as well). It has to do with redirecting sound over bluetooth and keeping that connection open.
Having a carkit myself, I wanted to use it like this: the radio plays and whenever a direction is needed, tomtom would announce it via the car speakers. However, in my case, when tomtom announces via the speakers, the radio mutes as the carkit takes over.
When using the hack where the "connection" is kept open, the carkit takes over all the time, which basically means no music from the radio.
If your carkit can work alongside the radio at the same time, then maybe this is a solution for you.
Check out (in hermes forum, so not 100% if it works for Raphael):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=278778
or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=300268 (which refers to BTaudio: http://www.davidmays.com/blog/?postid=6 )
If there's a better fix I'd like to know as well.
Thanks, but unfortunately it didn't change a thing.
If there's so few people having this problem, I'm really suspecting my car kit...
I have a parrot CK3100 btw, so it happens with a different carkit as well.
