Two PDA's sync with one PC? - General Topics

Greetings all, I have two imate jams and one PC which I would like to have different contacts. Problem is, when I sync with Outlook, both PDA's have the same contacts (combined). Any ideas how to overcome this problem?

2 different outlook users would fix it
or maybe something in relation to categories

In ActiveSync you switch to "sync only contacts of the following categories". So categorizing your contacts will help.

Outlook contacts sync

I have the following situation:
I previously had a Nokia 6680, which I used to sync with Office Outlook, through Nokia Pc Suite. The problem is that all my contacts phone numbers, was filed as "Other" , in the Outlook contacts field, and now, when I synced again with my XDA III, I realised that ActiveSync doesn't sync the "Other" numbers. So, on my PDA, it appears only the contact names, but not the phone numbers.
The only solution I found, is to change the field section in Outlook, for all the contacts, one by one, but that would be terrible for my over 400 contacts.

WM5 activesync with two PCs / 2 PCs

I am working for two companies and have to keep both Outlook/Exchange agendas up-to-date. Until now I did this by plugging my Qtek S100 (WM 2003) into each of the PCs. As we know, this is no longer possible with WM5.
Has by now anybody found a solution or an elegant work-around, or do I have to stick to two PDAs, one for sync reason? Thank you and best regards, Stefan
why is it impossible with wm2005?
i sync with everything on my desktop at home
and sync with calender and tasks and notes and favourites
on my laptop at work it works without any problems at all
You can sync everything from both into your one device, but you would need Intellisync. It would not be set-up as an exchange source on the device, simply as 2 seperate PC's.
Obviously having the two set-up means you would not be able to sync with your home PC because you're limited to 2 ActiveSync PC connections, but you could still set-up your own Exchange source with any of the push mail providers to do this.

He mentions Outlook and Exchange. 2 Outlooks isn't a problem, but 2 Exchanges is.
2 Exchange Servers the Problem?
That is not my experience with WM5.
When establishing the partnership with Outlook1 I have to decide if I want to sync my calendar with that Outlook - which I do want.
Upon establishing the partnership with Outlook2 I cannot choose calendar to sync with Outlook2 as it is already being occupied by Outlook1.
And yes, behind both Outlook is (a different) Exchange Server, but I would not need to sync with the Exchange Server directly, synching with both Outlooks would be good enough.
Thank you AlanJC!
Thank you Alan, your hint lead me to a working solution.
I synchronize Agenda, Contacts and Tasks with Exchange Server 1 via Server Synchronization.
I synchronize Agenda, Contacts and Tasks with Outlook 2 using XTNDConnectPC, which allows me to synchronize the data of my WM5 Smartphone with the contents of the Outlook-Client.
BTW: Intellisync worked as well, but had some flaws in "forgetting" to synchronize certain Calendar entries with other people participating. XTNDConnectPC does not seem to have that problem.
Thank you again, Alan!

How to not-sync Private Appointments?

Hi,
I searched the fora, found only very old threads but no answers.
When I sync my Hermes, I would like it to only sync the business items at work and not my private appointments.
I can mark my appointments as "private" in my outlook mobile, but they still appear on my work desktop.
does anyone have an idea how to solve this?
How about using categories? Just create a category "SYNC" and add this to all your business contacts. Obviously you'll have to adjust your ActiveSync settings accordingly.
I don't think it's possible to control exactly what syncs across. AS far as I know it's really an all or nothing.
/anyone get the pun?

Outlook Contacts

I have an interesting problem with synchronizing my Outlook contacts to my Treo 750. I noticed this using both ActiveSync installed on my PC as well as using an ActiveSync direct connect to our Exchange Server. I have about 1300 contacts that I synchronize. Most of them synchronize but there are several, non duplicated contacts, which for some reason or other just will not transfer to the Treo 750. I tried this on another phone, BlackJack, and all of my contacts moved across successfully so I am sure there is no problem with my contacts database and it must be an issue with the Treo. Any thoughts on this??

Sync a selection of Outlook contact to three different phones

I have a all our family contacts in Outlook and we have three different HTC WM6.1 phones that we would like to sync with the contacts database. The problem is that each phone just want some of the contact synced. Example: phone 1 just want to sync all contacts with category phone1, phone 2 with categoy phone2...
I have tried but i can't make it work. Any suggestions on how to setup a sync like this? Any other software? Settings/hack for Outlook?
operating systems today are made to be multiuser
if you make 3 login users on your computer
each user will have their own outlook which can sync with
each phone
you can transfer data between the outlook's using export
and import of pst files
what you ask is something I haven't heard about before
sounds very spc and not something the general public
would request too much
