I'm considering buying a Sprint PPC-6700 (HTC Apache). But I'm not sure if some of the software I want runs on Windows Mobile 5. Can somebody test it for me please?
These are music sequencers. So if you're into making music, then you'll probably appreciate this. All you have to do is install the free download and see if it works on your Windows Mobile 5 device.
Could someone try Griff and Phoenix Studio and let me know how they work on Windows Mobile 5?
If Griff works it would be awesome. Also, some of the plugins for Griff too.
I'm waiting for the consumer version before I get my 6700 (got tired of being told no, and also hoping to have Picture and Video Mail). But if these don't work on it then I may have to wait until they do (or wait for the next device).
Phoenix Studio works for me. dont know about the other one. i had Phoenix Studio for a long time on my dell axim and now i have it on my ppc6700.

Just tried the demo of Griff and it works pretty well - might even buy the full version!

I mean..
>500MHz
720x480 x 24bpp screen
integrated storage >8GB
Windows Mobile 6
WCDMA and GSM
and it starts at $195?
is this some kind of fantasy?
It is real, but it is far from $195, closer to $800. According to them it is scheduled to come out in December but you won't see it until next year.
May i remind you that i've never heard of Meizu before, its a newcomer, expect bugs and even shortcuts...

Meizu has been making MP3 players ( http://en.meizu.com/ ) for 4 years, but that's true: they hasn't made any Windows CE based device ever, until now.
I supose this Phone has Windows CE 6.0 Core, and own GUI so it can be uncompatible with Windows Mobile 6 stuff (CE 5.2)
They are offering another Iphone clone for 169 Euros in the NL. The CECT Clone. So the pricing could be correct.
This will run probably CE 5.2 so we can take all the goodies we have to this phone and from this phone!

Yes, As I read it doesn't run WM6 but Windows CE 6.0 under a special miniOne GUI so it can't run conventional Pocket PC apps. Unless the miniOne GUI only an app which runs on WM6 but I haven't read about this anywhere, so it isn't likely.
It can run most PPC apps, that's real.
Yeah, multitouch and USB Host / Client
now that's what i call an iPhone killer :O
the functions / ui of the apple phone + the things i love about wm (great community, so much programs, etc.)
I just stopped into a Meizu store today (I live in china) and saw this phone and heard of it for the first time. It looks very cool though. The price is around $350 US and has 8GB and is multi-touch. I think I want one
it definitely looks as the best PMP player and phone together.
if only it could run WM apps, it would rock..
Apps on Meizu
I got my hands on one of these devices and it is pretty slick. There are still lots of bugs in the os, but new versions are still being put out there. It sucks that it does not run WM apps. I have found 2 that work. Coreplayer and TCPMP run well on it, but really are not needed because the integrated player works well.
I am hoping someone will develop a Windows Mobile rom that will run on this device. It would really rock.
i really want this phone. It may not be an HTC phone but Meizu has some big potential.

with runing, all the Win CE / WIMO
Software, and on a lot of Threads i
read, that the Bugs almost not
solved from one to another Firmware
they always only put
only new Options in
and didnt Solve the Bugs
USB Host OTG i am not sure that is implemtet,

Since the G1 and now the mytouch both of which I flashed the Hero rom on, I just found my perfect business phone and this one could be a true Iphone killer and it has windows. I have not used a windows based phone since the dash and now the HD2 is making want to try it again. I live off outlook so that a plus but playing with the touchpro 2 I dont like some items, but like the Hero rich widgets, have you guys heard of anything?
Have you tried Androkidd 0.8, I installed it on my Pro2 yesterday and it seems good.

Cool, another Leo thread!
Since I posted this has there been any development on getting andriod on the HD2? Now that the Evo has come out I am hoping the process has been helped?

The developers have finally overcome the segfaults which previously prevented the Linux kernel from booting fully, meaning that Linux can boot fully, and Android is possible. However, the touch screen doesn't have any Linux drivers, meaning that until someone develops a touch screen driver from scratch, that Android (or any other Linux userland) is unusable without a USB keyboard/mouse plugged in .
The EVO 4G seems similar to the HD2, and it is reasonable to think that it may help in development of Android for the HD2, but it's actually quite the opposite. The hardware used in the HD2 is much different than that in the EVO. Besides the common appearance, the two devices are completely independent of one another, and the developers are mostly on their own. Just a small word of advice: don't ever buy a phone because of features that have yet to be developed, as there is absolutely no guarantee that Android/Linux will ever work fully on the HD2.
Leo is a great device, and it´s not outdated as it has the same or even more power than some newer devices.
WM is doing well on it because it´s fast processor
I agree withthe above poster. I think HD2 and WM have years left. Right now its the only phone I can do everything I want with, except HULU, which I firmly beleive will come. Heres what Android or iOS4 or WP7 will have to do out of the box for me to give up WM6.5
1. Play nice with my hava box for live TV.
2. Emulate PS1 game flawlessly
3. Play the PS1 games with a wireless PS3 controller.
4. Play any kind of video in existance thats under 2GB in file size with no frame dropping or quality loss.
5. Word, and Excel
6. a FTP program
7. Cut, copy, paste, and open with...
8. Streaming radio and play, OGG's, AAC, and other off brand codecs
These are my main concerns when I hear about WP7 coming. I fear we may loose all the killer software that has been build the last 5 years. Hopefully WP7 will have a compatability mode. LOL

Because we are the minority. those lovely features you speak of wont be present in most phone os going forward. Apple has shown that dumb down super simple phones are the way to go. btw I dont mean dumb down in the sense that they suck. What I mean is, we as a community are use to having free reign on what we do with our phones. The average user will do more harm than good with these features. With great power comes great responsiblity.
I like android! I havent seen a single thing that it cant do. Infact because of people like cyanogen its grown at record breaking speeds to be come a contender.
One of the best things about android is I have been able to install albeit modified versions of android on my g1 and my friends droid.
Now hes currently running froyo before motorola even has a chance to update it.
Thanks for the posts....I am using my Gen 1 Mytouch and while I like it a lot, its starting to be to slow for me.
I think the reason why I won't to windows is that I like the Andriod market a lot, being able to get a program , etc
But I am a windows guy on my laptop running outlook, office, etc and I am thinking it would be better for my business to switch to WM?
Maybe I need to research the market to see what I can get
Come on in the waters fine! With the snapdragon wimo 6.5 really pops. Its equal to or greater then ios4 or android. Once you get cookiemonsters app up, everyone at your work will be jelous of your phone. From comparing my multiple wimo phones with friend iphones and droid phones I can easily say once my rom is selected and phone is tweaked its actually much more stable then the other phones.
I LOVED braingoal!
It's only on the Android market, since my sister has an iPhone and it's not there.
I couldn't solve the 6th stage.
ANYONE?
could it work on wm6.1 for mobile or Windows 7 for pc? to work on it together...
Na...
Their website indicates they have it only on android...
Oh well.......
hi everyone.
dose anyone have any idea if we can find win7 for herms somewhere?coz i have checked that 6.5 its aweful i did,nt liked that so if anyone can help us all to find win7 for herms that will be nice.
regards to all xda family members
in a word...
no
That is never going to happen for so many reasons, the HD2 is the only phone with a ROM currently, but the Hermes doesn't even vaguely have the correct specs.
Windows 7 is unlikely to ever run on *any* phone, ever, period. Firstly, there is no ARM version of Windows 7 and secondly no phone would be beefy enough to run it anyway.
Looking to jointhe WP7 revolution in a few weeks with an upgraded phone (Looking at HTC Titan)
My home PC's currently run Winsdows XP.
Will i encounter any issues with this? Do i NEED to upgrade to windows 7?
I'd assume i might get better functionality with win7, and ive priced up upgrading my main pc to suit and ive been looking at swapping my tablet for a windows7 tablet too to keep everything the same.
However if i can get away with XP for a bit longer I'd rather do these things a step at a time.
So ultimately will a WP7 device talk to an XP OS without any issues?
WP7 talks to your PC via Zune. According to the main Zune download page at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/apps/zune-software.aspx Zune supports XP SP3, Vista & Win7.
Note that you must have SP3 for XP installed. Other than that, looks like you're okay.
Brad.
XP will work fine
XP SP3 would work, but I think an upgrade would suit you better in the long run with W8 coming out this year XP will start to be cut off soon, but you should not have any problems software wise.
Windows 7 is Da Bomb, but XP is still a solid OS. Wait till Windows 8, then do your upgrade. Why pay for dual upgrades.
Also, usually when a new version of Windows is getting close to release, you can pay for the current OS and get a free upgrade to the newest when it's released. That works well if you decide to upgrade your PC at the same time. Buy a PC with Windows 7 and get the free Windows 8 upgrade. But wait till it's advertised that way...
The theory was - i wanted to get an Acer Iconia W500 but i may wait until Win 8 is released before taking this plunge
The Desktop pc - im sure all it requires is more RAM to be capable of a newer OS (only got a gig in it) So im sure that should be a straightforward upgrade - I'm to be Dual screening this at somepoint this year too This is aimed as music library management, main data backup/management and music production.
The touchscreen tablet is going to be aimed at keeping my data syncd while on the go but primarily as i DJ a lot to be used as a music interface and a disco light controller. Ive currently got a Compaq TC1100 doing this task
Id rather do this a bit at a time otherwise it all adds up to a fair amount of cash - so i'll stick with XP for the time being if it'll work
I've used XP, Vista, And W7 for my Radar and have had no problems.
Nice choice on the Titan, but I would wait and see what pricing is now on the new Titan II.
BTW, Welcome to the WP family!
