I tried to load Outlook Notes Connector but a message keeps coming up "The setup wizard can't continue while Outlook is running. Exit Outlook, and try again".
I have tried to close Outlook down but am still receiving the above message. Is Outlook loading up in memory, if so, how do I shut it down.
It is a work computer: Using a IBM Thinkpad and running Windows 2000

Hi all, I have a sync problem here just wonder if anyone has the same problem. I installed Faria's WM6 some time back and it was fine syncing with XP. Recently I upgraded my XP to vista and installed mobile device synchronisation center and I tried to sync with outlook 2007.
The device seemed to be unable to sync as the sync center said syncing in progress for a long long time. I waited 1 hour once before I unplugged it. I found that by selecting only files and notes, I was able to sync in less than 5 minutes. However if I selected to sync contacts, tasks or calendars the device would be unable to sync. I created a new outlook data file which was empty and tried to sync again but unsuccessful. I hope not to have to do a hard reset to try to sync so if anyone got any ideas I would be happy to try them.
you could try syncing to MS Excgange server for now (port88.org) ... for calendr, try goosync
i dont require email sync and i dont really want to have to find individual solutions for calendar, contacts or tasks. any other suggestions to solve my syncing issue?
I have a ROM based on the 5.2.1933 base from it's right. It is working mostly OK, however when I have the Wizard 'docked' to my PC ActiveSync seems to be constantly synchronising - well not exactly constantly but more than I seem to remember it did with other ROMs I have installed or built. This wouldn't be a problem but when it is synchronising the Wizard is really sluggish, so much so that I sometimes can't answer calls due to it not reacting to the 'talk' button quick enough.
I sync with the default Outlook E-mail, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks & Favourites on my PC (standalone Outlook with just POP3/SMTP email) and also the Calendar, Tasks and Contacts with an Exchange 2007 Server on the Internet. It does seem to take a long time synchronising, especially the Outlook email from my PC. I have battery status installed and when it synchronises the CPU jumps up to 100% until it has finished. There then only seems a short period before it starts synchronising again.
I have now started to leave it disconnected from my PC when I am working at it in case a call comes in when it is synchronising.
Is this a common problem or could it be something I am doing or have configured wrong?
Andy
I have the same experience (Herald with Win 6.0)
Hello,
since today I have a serious problem with syncing. I sync my PPC with Mail2Web, my Vista PC and my HTC Shift.
The problem: With all of these a simple Sync deletes all my birthday appointments within my calendar!
This morning I made a full backup with SKTools, so I can recreate always my PIM data - the appointments are not fully lost.
I tried this:
1. I deleted my partnership with my Vista PC.
2. I disabled all the Synchronization with Mail2Web
3. I restored my PIM Data
4. I changed all my birthday appointments using Pocket Informant 8.1
(Status "Busy" to "Free" and the names from "xxx" to "xxx's birthday")
5. At last I connected my PPC via cable to my Vista PC, set up, which items have to be synced and the whole PIM Data gets refreshed.
Result: Birthdays are still being deleted
What else can I do? I also checked "Keep the item on my device" setting within ActiveSync, but syncing with Mail2Web also deletes all this content
Hi all,
It driving me insane that I can't work it out why Activesync is not syncing my phone.
Here is the situation. Got the phone from my brother. With him it synced fine, with USB cable, with Outlook 2003 and WM6.5.
I have the same setup but Outlook 2007.
What happens is that when it connects, it finds the device, I only set it to sync contact, tasks and calender of outlook. It then says "Looking for changes" and soon after it says "Synchronizing". But then it hangs.
I searched the forum and the internet. I tried reconfiguring, soft resets, installing CompanionLink (software that works through Activesync).
No joy!
I simply want to be able to keep my contacts, calender and tasks from outlook synced. Nothing more.
Any help!!?!
I had the same problem when i used Active Sync from XP, but i works when im using Win7.
Try deleting all the Active Sync settings and make the configuration from Win7. When i did that it worked when i connect to the PC with XP - strange but true...
Ok. But what do you mean with "make the setting for win7"?
Yay! Got it to work!
Funny that I had the feeling in the beginning that it might be the amount of to-be-synced items was going to be too big. And somewhere on the net I found someone with the same idea.
I disconnected the device (usb cable). I removed the device from the "file" dropdown menu. And reconnected the usb-cable. When prompted with the wizard, in the settings I deselected ALL the to be synced categories.
Then it found the device and it synced... nothing.
But it said it synced.
Then I opened the option menu in Activesync and added only the contacts. And hurray! It started syncing. Then I added the agenda and hurray again!
The only thing that happened is that I ended up with duplicate contacts and agenda items. But after an hour I had that fixed too.
Note: Although I don't think that it contributed to the solution, I did reinstall and soft-resetted the device before I did all this. Just to let you know...

Try this:
1. At setting | connections | Run the the 'USB to PC'
2. Uncheck "Enable faster data..."
3. Uncheck "Ask me first about USB...."
4. Soft reset phone & PC
5. sync again.
Note: This may enable activesync works but file transfer from PC to Phone/Storage will fall back. may need to swap the setting back.
HOPE it helps.
Here's my dilema, soemwhere my ability to sync from my XP desktop to my Fuze got weird.
I have done numerous things to try to fix:
Hard reset phone several times
Changed ROM from versions 6.5 to 6.1 and back again
Uninstalled and reinstalled Activesync
Uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2007
Turned off Norton firewall and anti virus, and even uninstalled
Deleted Activesync partnerships on phone and desktop.
When I set up a new sync, only a portion of the calendar appointments and contacts transfer from desktop to phone. If I add an appointment or contact on the phone and then sync, it shows up in Outlook just fine.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Found a fix. Spent 90 minutes with Microsoft and they were stumped. If it ever happens try re-registering the OLE32.dll. This is done by clicking on "Start" and then select "Run". Then in the box for the Run Command and type: Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll
