Ok so I was playing around with a friends iPhone a while ago and was impressed that it automatically connected to any un-secure wi-fi connection out there. Is there any sort of application out there that will do the same? It seems more efficient to have something always connect and leave wifi on, but that could just be me.
Let me know if this is possible or if there is already a program to do this. THANKS
eeeehhhhhhhhhhh
well I dont know if this answer your Q, but at least My TILT, automatically conects to the wi-fi conections (that I have already setup , btw: secured conections)
I havent try on any un-secured wi-fi, I dont know a place with unsecured conections...

Hello Everyone,
When we connect WM phones over Active Sync, we are able to run internet on WM Phone through desktop's connection.
So, I have this old XDA Stealth with me, and I thought of using it as a Wireless Router for sharing Desktop's Internet Connection with Laptops and other WiFi Devices.
Upon using WMWiFiRouter, I'm getting error saying there is no connection defined. That's right because I don't have any data plan and no modem has been defined.
So how can I share my desktop's internet connection with other devices using WM Phone as a Wireless Router (wherein the only way for WM Phone to access internet is through USB Cable and Active Sync).
I would appreciate any help.
Thnx
Sonny
In other words I wanna share Desktop Pass Through Connection over WiFi.
Please help, ain't there any way of doing this?
In other words, you want to share your internet connection that came from WM Wifi, to desktop computer,.
or
You want to sharre your internet connection that came fro your desktop wifi, to your WM device?
Do you want to achieve something like:
Internet->Computer->wired link->WM device->Wi-Fi->other devices
which if it's not possible in WMWifiRouter seems an oversight, and one which the development team may want to know!
Thats right! Its this way.
Cable Model >> Desktop >> Active Sync >> WM Device >> WM Device's WiFi >> Other Devices.
Ain't this possible, if I try forwarding Active Sync's IP?
Here is what I tried,
I configured WM Phone's WiFi's IP add to 192.168.0.1.
Next I got the connection detected on my laptop and pinged the IP and got the reply, but was unable to access internet. Guess ICS was not enabled.
Now how can I forward the IP for Activesync to be used as a gateway to access internet on the laptop through the WMPhone.
i have the same problem as the thread starter here....want to use my old pda2k as a wifi router for my e71...pass through works on pda2k but wmwifirouter doesnt work!
worked follow exact instruction on this page!
http://support.wmwifirouter.com/documentation/41/USB_to_Wifi
Hey Thnx!
I got it working!. But the range and speed sucks!
Is there any way of increasing the range of WM5 device's WiFi interface?
I'm planning to plug a wire to the WiFi antenna and connect it to an aluminium sheet which would be like a parabola covering one side of the phone, hope this would work well.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
UPDATED INFO:
I am a captionist for the deaf/hard of hearing and I use my laptop to type and give my client my phone to view what I'm typing. I am at different locations all the time. The way it has worked conveniently in the past for me is by bluetooth activesync connection and Innobec Sidewindow to use my phone as an extended display. I can no longer do that after updating from XP to windows Vista, so I am looking for alternatives.
Did you try Remote Desktop? That worked for me in Vista and 7

I'll be honest. I have a hard time setting up remote desktop, port forwarding, IP addresses, and all that. Can it be done through bluetooth?
I will be using this for my laptop and windows mobile phone to take to work at different locations. So I will be on the go the whole time. Will remote desktop be for me?
Also, I'm using Vista Home Premium, so is the Remote Desktop that came with my windows mobile phone even an option, or would I have to have Vista Ultimate?
it can be don using pan bluetooth but not bluetooth network connection over activesync
as when one take over the desktop the user is log'd out and that ends the activesync session

Thanks for that info. So I can do this with Vista Home right? I don't need Ultimate?
Can you please provide some info on how to go about setting up PAN bluetooth and remote desktop, or a link to some good info even. Thanks..
Edit: Is having a PAN bluetooth the same thing as having my device paired with my computer?
Well after 6 hours of trying to figure out how to remote desktop via bluetooth, I've given up. I got stuck trying to set up PAN bluetooth, since I could not find the option for PAN Bluetooth anywhere; I only found LAN Bluetooth Network. My bluetooth device must not support it.
I'm still desperately looking for alternatives if anybody has any ideas, otherwise I'll have to resort to installing XP and do it with Innobec Sidewindow like I've done in the past. I was hoping I didn't have to downgrade from Vista though.

VNC is remote desktop right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I would need to have access to the internet in order to do this right? Can it be done via bluetooth?
Okay, regardless of that - I will attempt to do this if you can help me. If you have experience in this, can you tell me specific programs I will need to download for my phone and/or my laptop and I will try to go from there. Thanks.
Edit: I've updated the first post with more details on what I'm looking for.
As I'm looking further into VNC, I want to repeat that the computer I would be accessing through my phone will be taken to different locations with me while I'm at work. I'm only reading of features about having remote access to computers at home, or some fixed location. So I don't know if VNC is for me. Please let me know if that's correct, otherwise I will look further into it.
I tell ya, I'm real dedicated. I've been on this since I posted at 10am this morning and I've learned lots so far.
VNC seems to be a cool feature and I've successfully connected my laptop with my phone with my WLAN. I've still yet to figure out if I can do it without a wireless router or internet connection, using just bluetooth or wifi adapter. If anybody here has the answer, please let me know.
Thanks.
hi to all
i have a 2.4ghz wireless spy cam and was wondering if there was anyway of directly viewing it on my leo ( it does almost everything else )
i curently use a laptop with a reiciever but can be bulky and not very discret
thanx in advance for all help given
+1
It's my dream since a long long time....
No way to watch a wifi cam on it ?
hi i dont have an hd2 yet (its coming tomorrow) but i can tell you its possible to view wifi cams from your hd2
it all depends on how your camera works but if you have a network camera of any type (wifi or wired to lan / pc) then you will probably be able to browse to an ip if youre on the same wifi network
if the camera is on your pc by usb or something you can set up vlc player to stream your camera video to your hd2
even over data tariff
edit: i dont know about the original 2.4ghz camera idea though. they arent bluetooth signals and i dont know about how that would even be possible (with frequencies etc)
if you have a pc that you can leave running, you could get your wireless security camera and connect it to a video input on your pc (gfx card might have it, or a capture card/dongle) then stream the input over your network...
There are plenty of programs that can broadcast a web cam or wificam that can be viewed off local-network if you want. I used to have a web cam setup on my pc that would stream the video. I could log onto the IP with my Fuze and see if somebody was at my house from anywhere in the world.
YawCam is one I have used that is alright and free. Your best bet would be using a computer to grab the wifi cams video feed then from there throw it on a private network that you an log into from the phone. I don't see the phone picking up the signal and then interpreting it to video nor can I see it being able to access the video even when the phone is being used as a wifi router. It might possibly be able to get an ip from the phone being a wifi router but I don't see the phone being able to access it with in it's own router program on it's local network.
If you catch my drift on that gibberish .
Thanks for your answers !
I understand what you mean (and i use that too) but it's not what we look for.
The question is most for that kind of purpose :
spygearco.com/MicroReceiverRecorder-DVR-P160-FreeSpyCamera
I don't know why gtr-viper want to use that camera, but for me (as a magician) it could be a great trick to see what the people do behind my back (or in the next room).
So, i need that kind of camera that use no network but only wifi connection (2.4ghz).
For that cam, they sell an USB adapter to watch the live stream on your PC, that's why i thought that it may be possible to use a good smartphone to see the video too.
(yes, i'm a dreamer ...)
I am using Mobiscope and it is working perfectly on my HD2
Hello,
Anybody willing to share mobiscope.cab for my HD2.
Moreover, what is the best Alarm clock application and a
stop watch application available for the HD2.
I had a good program on sony ericsson k750i.. ( with multiple laps, countdown
timer, Timecounter etc).
Any guidance on this is appreciated with source to grab and try the same.
Thanks in advance.

G-Alarm, it's free and awesome!!!
Is there a program or way i can use remote desktop without having a router connect to my laptop. So using the built in wifi on the laptop to connect to my HD2.
Or even bluetooth..
Just an idea as I can't have a router here at uni.
are you trying to basically surf the web from your laptop using your HD2?
you need something like internet sharing which is available on the Device itself (its a standard Windows thing). you need to set it up though, and of course make sure your device has internet access (GPRS/whatever connection methods).
Nah not using the internet, but to view and control my pc from my phone over wifi.
gotcha. why would you wanna do that?
but anyway...dont think it is possible like that as the wireless on the laptop will not act as a DHCP (like a router does) to give an IP to clients who are connecting to it.
It would be cool though to be able to use it as a remote control to perhaps skip or play music etc. But connecting through wifi would be impossible i think.
I recall with my old old old sony ericsson phone I could connect to my computer using a bluetooth dongle and control music and even the mouse cursor...such an awesome feature. A bluetooth program for the HD2 would be good providing you have a bluetooth dongle.
funny you should mention an app like that as I developed an app a few years ago which does just that called WMP Remote.
basically, you connect it via bluetooth or wireless (as long as you get an activesync connection going, or even wireless with a router) and then get a list of files from a certain directly, play/pause/vol up/down from the Mobile application and play files in full screen and so on....
haven't updated it in a LONG time but was a big hit back then.
also developed another app called DAR~ling, which is a Digital Audio Recorder

It looks an awesome App, but does not work with WM6.5 & Windows 7 (not sure which one cause the issue).
IMHO worth some re-development and putting on Windows Market Place $$$ I'd buy.
Ben
aww, thats encouraging mate! Thanks!
not sure why it doesnt run on your devices? I ran it on my Samsung omnia which runs WM 6.1 - works fine.
I've also got a WM5 device...works fine on that. the issues are just the screen display!
I have been meaning to "start" the project again but just had no time at all. been so busy.
HELLO
T2 REMOTE TOUCH
Very nice program. I use it to do anything to my computer because I'm too lazy to get down of the bed. I use it when it was beta and the only bad thing was that he only had color mode for free
Anyway if you can manage to create a wireless network connection (AD-HOC) with designeted IP's it's going to work. I don't know about the port dough.
Anyway, I have windows XP, and I don't know very much about win7's configuration.
GOOD LUCK
