Hi,
The two lights on top of the xda2i.
I know the left one goes blue when bluetooth is active and the right one goes amber when charging and flashes green when active but what do the other colours mean? The one on the right flases red sometimes but I don't have a low battery.
Any ideas?
thanks,
Tom
The right one flashes red if you have a message or missed call. The left one flashes green if you have wifi switched on. Hope that helps.
excellent, i had never seen the flash light bit before. thanks guys

Hi
This maybe a daft question but is the clear plastic square on the TP inside ear peace an actual LED??
Previously on WM phones this was used as notifcations and bluetooth, I know the TP has the circle that lights up but I have noticed this LED doesnt light up at all like when I have bluetooth on. Is there a way of turning this on?
Cheers
Thats the light sensor.
That is the light sensor. No LED there...
have to say that this is annoying. I would have preferred an LED, don't know why they ommitted it.
when my phone is in stand-by, there is no way of determining if it's on (and in stand-by) or if the battery has died and it's actually off!!
lol thanks guys, now i feel dumb lol
Although I do agree with twisted on this one, seems odd to remove the LED. Is there anyway of knowing if the bluetooth is on now without powering on the screen? I miss the blueness lol
Well... most ppl don't need to know whether their phone "died" (ran out of power). Including me. At first I was wondering myself about the absence of any LED. But I liked it the first day I went to bed... no room blinking anymore! And even if I had received a message I don't need to stare at the phone waiting for blinking, instead I can recognize that almost immediately.
You still have the LED indicator...its just moved underneath the D-pad and its white now, but it`ll still blink if you got a msg or missed call. im sure someone can cook a rom which can keep it indicating all the time, not only for calls and msgs.
Personally, I like the lack of lights. As Chatty mentioned, the bedroom isn't turned into a cheap nightclub now. Plus I've never been the biggest fan of the 'Mug me now' flashing blutooth lights
omg, i couldnt stand the sidekick's annoying flashing trackball every 5 seconds... thank God this one isnt like it!
I hated the constant flashing of the Tytn II bluetooth LED at night so much that I got a cover for it. So, when I put it in the cradle at night then on went the cover !
What would be nice in Touch Pro "II" would be multiple colours in the ring?
I've noticed on a few occasions since I got my new fuze that the screen will go monochrome, either red green or blue, often switching between the 3. The glitch seems to be triggered by using the flat buttons next to the touch screen, especially the 4 arrow buttons which surround the circle button. I'm definitely going to be calling up ATT next week for a replacement but was just curious if this is a common problem with this model.
Has anyone Confirmed that our LED is a multi-colored LED. I have not been able to change the LED notification color through Go SMS Pro, and other apps.
I'll keep looking into it, but have not seen any spec sheets that say differently.
Update: Wikipedia states that the LED Can only Flash Green or "Orange" (i see red)
It is multicolored. It was red when I plugged in, then when the battery was full it went to green.

Same results here. Red/green.
Wish I could do different colors to correspond to different app notifications but it's better than no LED on my old Fascinate.
Never realized how much I missed a notification LED until that phone -_-

Read on one of the reviews that the LED is not customizable (through light flow) and they couldn't even get the app to work even with HTC direct mode enabled.
I'm just happy there's an LED at all. Coming from an SGS2 it surely is a time saver.
here's to hoping it's just a ROM swap away from customization.
I think we are SOL on customized led notifications. The last 3 HTC devices I had (inspire, EVO 3d, and vivid) were unable to change colors.

Only thing I miss from my blackberry
Cuz you can set different colors when you get text from different people
(so I could ignore it if it was someone unimportant lol)

Sorry. Posted on wrong thread. Noob on xda I am.
Looks like a true multicolour LED
I know that HTC say that the notification LED can only do orange and green but I'm guessing that the hardware is multicolour capable (i.e. Red, green, orange, yellow, possibly even blue, white, etc).
I say this for the following reason; the hue of the green LED.
It is not the green colour that you normally get from a green only LED (which normally has a slightly yellowish hue). The HTC green LED colour has a blueish hue that indicates that the green comes from a multicolour LED. Also normally the orange that HTC state you should see when charging would normally come from a green and red led (or dual colour led) lit together. My HTC One X lights red NOT orange when charging.
Perhaps my observations are incorrect am I'm just seeing what I want but if anyone has a link to HTC it would be good to get an answer on this.

When commanded through Light Flow, you have three options, Green, Deep Orange (Looks red) and Orange (which is more yellowish then the deep red)
My fear is that the LED Is not an RGP LED which means we can not make every color.
any update on this for the AT&T One X?
Multicolor led can work only if some kernel dev activates it but we need the source and i have not seen any kernel devs yet working for the hox

Yeah i too miss my N1 and the trackball/LED. It was great for taking pictures (dedicated shutter) Trackball wake was the **** and the multitude of colors was a great feature. I had a different color for almost every notification. I knew if i missed a call, got an email, a text message, calendar alert, etc from the other side of the room. When my girl took it over the colored notifications was enough to catch her cheating ass in a lie (or two) lol.
eX picks up phone, reads it, says i missed a call from my mom. I'm thinking but the light was blue for text. Red is missed call. I checked it later and sure enough was a text from her ex. No missed call from mom :victory:

This did make me chuckle...but as you say, the different colours are/were epic! Is there NO way we can get more colours out of the HOX?? I'll be honest...had I known this little detail too, I might just gave gone the SGS3 route...sigh
Hi, I'm having a small problem about my LED notification. In Handcent SMS it's letting me choose what color of LED it wants me to use
(Amber or Green) but the problem is even if I choose amber it always flashes green. Tried using GO SMS Pro which has more colors but still flashes green. I'm using Virtuous Inquisition 4.0.2 btw
I tried flashing to stock rom but it's still the same

Yeah, read about that somewhere. But still even if I choose Amber (or red for that matter) it's still a green flash, and I can't even change it to slow or fast blink frequency. Is the red led exclusively for charging or something.

Well that sucks if its true. I just wanna change it because I barely notice the green led when I receive and SMS unlike Amber.
But thanks for the replies rzr86 I appreciate it

That is true. There are only two colors.
I'm aware that it only has 2 colors but my problem is that even if I change it to red it still green. Last night I tried Light Flow and still can't change it so I guess I'm stuck at green then
Um... It actually has three usable colours to be precise. Not to be a jerk, just pointing that out there. Orange, Dark Orange (yes there is a notable difference between the two) and green.
Now, when you say you tried Lite Flow, did you actually read any of the prompts on the screen? For the Sensation you must run the app in "Direct Mode" to be able to get any colour other than green working. If you tried that, then maybe there is a problem with your LED...
Huh, mine always glows amber. I thought it was supposed to be green, but mine only glows green when it's finished charging or I get a notification while charging (alternates between green and amber) I personally like the amber though
Hey guys thanks for the reply. there is nothing wrong (I think) with my LED as it glows orange just fine when charging. In Lite Flow I tried changing it to red or any other color but now it's still flashing green, and I can't even change it back.
OK, this is strange. On my tl09 i suddenly notice a red dot, a little light.
Next to the speaker top centre there is a black circle, the camera/flash. To the left there is an oval. In the left corner there is the red light, round.
Is this normal? What is it?

Is the red light you are referring to different from the notification light?
Yep. It is just a very faint red dot. Sometimes it seems to light up a bit, but that could be my imagination. What does that left 'opening' do? Strangest thing is that I dont know if it was there before. I did undate to lollipop recently.
Update: the little light was a light as it shut off when I just powered down my phone. When I started it up again, the light went on for about a second at the last huawei logo, but then it shut down again. So it is gone now. Could anyone check if they see a faint red dot/light when booting?
It is a sensor, it is normal
