LED by the ear peace? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi
This maybe a daft question but is the clear plastic square on the TP inside ear peace an actual LED??
Previously on WM phones this was used as notifcations and bluetooth, I know the TP has the circle that lights up but I have noticed this LED doesnt light up at all like when I have bluetooth on. Is there a way of turning this on?
Cheers

Thats the light sensor.

That is the light sensor. No LED there...

have to say that this is annoying. I would have preferred an LED, don't know why they ommitted it.
when my phone is in stand-by, there is no way of determining if it's on (and in stand-by) or if the battery has died and it's actually off!!

lol thanks guys, now i feel dumb lol
Although I do agree with twisted on this one, seems odd to remove the LED. Is there anyway of knowing if the bluetooth is on now without powering on the screen? I miss the blueness lol

Well... most ppl don't need to know whether their phone "died" (ran out of power). Including me. At first I was wondering myself about the absence of any LED. But I liked it the first day I went to bed... no room blinking anymore! And even if I had received a message I don't need to stare at the phone waiting for blinking, instead I can recognize that almost immediately.

You still have the LED indicator...its just moved underneath the D-pad and its white now, but it`ll still blink if you got a msg or missed call. im sure someone can cook a rom which can keep it indicating all the time, not only for calls and msgs.

Personally, I like the lack of lights. As Chatty mentioned, the bedroom isn't turned into a cheap nightclub now. Plus I've never been the biggest fan of the 'Mug me now' flashing blutooth lights

omg, i couldnt stand the sidekick's annoying flashing trackball every 5 seconds... thank God this one isnt like it!

I hated the constant flashing of the Tytn II bluetooth LED at night so much that I got a cover for it. So, when I put it in the cradle at night then on went the cover !
What would be nice in Touch Pro "II" would be multiple colours in the ring?

keyboard leds stay on after sliding back in

A couple of times I was shocked to notice that the keyboard leds on my TP weren't shut down with the keyboard slid in. Since there is a slight gap between the keyboard and the screen, in a dark environment, looking at the TP's right edge, white light was clearly visible just 1-1.5 cm's above the stylus (display and the hardware buttons were OFF, so no, no light "bleeding" effect).
After promptly sliding the keyboard out and back in, the lights went out; actually they went out right when I started to move the keyboard, possibly indicating that there might be a loose contact somewhere. Once, I actually waited for the light to go out by itself; it certainly stayed on after the regular "timeout" value...
So, I wonder: if the contact that is supposed to cut the power to the keyboard when you slide it back in sometimes doesn't work, but the device thinks it's locked and doesn't "timeout" the leds anymore, can this be the cause of mysterious battery drains reported so many times on this forum? Sure enough it's quite hard to spot, especially if you're using a case for the phone. It would most certainly explain why battery drain varied on my device rather wildly even though the usage pattern hardly changed from day to day.
I tried reproducing the effect but it's quite hard (I'd say for my device it would kill the lights correctly at least 9 out of 10 times) and I didn't want to stress the sliding mechanism too much...
Anyone notice this?
Just so noone thinks I'm seeing ghosts, today, just after unplugging it from my laptop, eventhough the keyboard hadn't even been opened, I saw the leds were on again. Just to be sure this wasn't a "feature" I waited about 5 minutes and they were still ON. So yes, this is most definitely a bug and a quite serious one at that.
I took a photo with a friends phone camera (sorry for the low quality). The bright, white, dots seen in the pic are the leds from the underlying keyboard (the phone had always been shut, keyboard fully slid in: display and hardware keys were completely off and no, there was no light from the D-pad either).
I can now easily understand how, occasionaly, the battery managed to run out so quickly... Has noone noticed this before? Am I the only one with a potentially defective unit/keyboard contact?

New phone, no led's

So I just got my replacement Touch Pro (t7272). and everything's working great, but the LED on the phone is not blinking at all... not at start up or anything... am I losing it or isn't there suppose to be a blinking LED in the earpiece?
My Kaiser had software to change the color of the LED depending on the response (msg, missed call, etc...), but can't find the app now...
really? 18 views, and no one can even tell me if they have a blinking led in the ear piece?

Charging notification - Breathing light

Is there any way to disable the "Breathing" Navigation ring when its charging or the solid light when its done? I keep this phone by my bed at night and really don't enjoy the flashing lights in my room.
Thanks,
Landon.
set it face down while charging.
Not to be rude but thats like taking the switch off the fidge door's light and just closing it. The lights still on you just don't see it. I'm concerned with the lights life if its on 1/3 of the day. Also when I recieve email through the night the phone vibrates and grinds the screen into the wooden night stand. I dunno, seems to me that the charging icon up top would be good enough and the breathing lights unnecessary.
Thanks,
Landon.
the lights life? its an led. leds never burn out. as for the notification, seeing as its part of the hardware and not a setting in windows mobile, youre stuck with it forever. set it on a cloth or something, or set something over it.
Can I set mine to strobe? Its really slow and annoying. I only like fast things.
...and not to be rude but I don't want to wave my fingers in front of it for effect.
ROFLMAO!!!!!
I used to have an extra piece of nice microfiber cloth which I folded and put the phone face down on next to my computer. Something that keeps the phone from scratches and simply to block out the light.

Wow Really? Is your Raphael a special edition made of eggshells? I mean HTC would never have thought someone would have their phone face down on a wooden table when It vibrated. Also, what the heck kind of rough sandpaper nightstand do you have?
If the short 1 second of vibrating scratches up your screen, maybe you should get a Screen Protector (good to have anyway) or perhaps a nice phone case.

[Q] Backlit buttons not working correctly

Ok,
So my home row buttons (Menu, Home, Back, Search) do not light up as they should! if the room is dark they will not work at all! and ive never seen them work in a dark room! However every day in the late afternoon when im in my living room and the phone is charging they will just light up! (at first i though it was a refection or just ambient light in the room so i grabbed the phone and ran into my closet and WOW they light up!) so i figured it was something with my settings so i reset my phone to new and still same problem, then said WTH and rooted and updated to 2.3.4 (best thing ive done with it so far!) and have the exact same problem... So then i decided to try another charge (brand new out of the box 1 day old!) and the lights will do the same and light up when its moderately light in the room but then they wont turn off...
So a chat with samsung and they tell me that these phones dont have that feature! so off to verizon and lets test a few more devices!!! and what? at some point they lit up also in inappropriate lighting conditions, so after puzzled VZW people i consult samsung again and they tell me yet again that the featured isnt offered on this phone, so my guess is that its a software flaw?
any ideas?
anyone having lighting issues?
thanks
Wow, that's a lot of exclamation points. I don't know what you're talking about, mine work fine

Here are 2 pictures that show what im talking about, i will try to get a few more
Odd, works fine for me. Is it possible that you have a screen protector covering your light sensor? In the day time the back lights are off, then if I cover the light sensor they come right on.

The light sensors (which controls auto brightness and the backlights on the hardkey) is broken in the kernel for Gingerbread..
If this is a huge issue for you you might want to consider going back to Froyo

But he said it happened with the new phone and the verizon display one...?

It might even be broken on the stock Froyo. All the people who said it's working fine for them right now are running custom ROMs, kernels, firmwares and all that jazz. Maybe it was fixed through one of these custom updates. I dunno.
I just got a brand new Charge (thanks to the Fascinate swap program).
The bottom buttons do not light up. This is fresh out of the box.
I also do not see any way in which they would light up - the icons appear to be painted on to the physical buttons. No underlay for LED backlight.. but I suppose there is one if custom ROMs allow for it.
Which I will know shortly

there is no screen protector or case on either of the phones, and both phones were cleaned well to make sure nothing was hindering the sensors.

The problem is not only to the one that is rooted and flashed but also happens to the 2 at verizon that i inspected (brand new out of the box) and the 2nd one that i have that is also brand new with no mods

I think that the kernel for this phone was just snatched and quickly edited (by samsung) from another product and this is one thing that they havent been able to fix and figure out, because the woman at samsung told me
(Ruby: As your phone has physical keypads, there is no light feature available for keys.
Visitor: the small row of buttons (4 to be exact) at the bottom of the phone should be back lit in low light situations, however they occasionally light up but only in moderately to brightly light rooms
Ruby: I am sorry, there is no feature available on your phone.
Visitor: im sorry but i can prove that this phone does have back lit keys
Ruby: I am sorry, your phone home key rows do not have light option)
but we all know that the button do actually have a lighting option and samsung is just trying to delete the function but isnt 100% successful..
I don't know what to say, they work properly for me. This includes when I was fully stock EE4, as well as now (deodexed, rooted ROM, PBJ kernel, voodoo enabled).
droid charge doesnt have backilights in the keys.. wth are you all talking about... no wait there they are! barely. what th! where did they go again?
Stock froyo from the factory... Daylight = button lights off; sensor covered (night) = button lights on.

Notification led FAILS

Hello everyone,
I'm thinking to buy this very good devices but I read on some italian sites that there are some batch that have notification led bugged.
I'm explain better: they told that the led is shifted from the normal position and isn't so visible as other batch.
Anyone of you have this problem?
BR
nope, mine is at the right position and works well

Thanks.
Can you do a photo so I can compare with the one that I will buy today?
Will seems strange but on internet there aren't any photo of the one s notification led.
For me hte LED, comparing to the Desire is less noticable
I don't know if this is a bug or a feature, but the led is definitely too back behind the ear-piece net.
Just got my grey one s yesterday so not sure what is normal what is not in terms of notification light.
My light is located at the second row of the speaker holes, the 5th hole from the left. it is yes quite small compared to my incredible s, and during daylight, you have to be close to the phone in order to see it.
Is it normal?
This is my same location of hte led as well

my led is in the same location and it is much less visible as compared with my 2 years old desire...
The problem is not where is the led, but the fact that notification is still buggy after update 1.78.401.2: the other morning for example I had 3 emails but there was no led blinking. Others too reported led not working or working just for the first 5 minutes...

I have the opposite problem. My LED flashes for new emails, but does not stop when I access the mail app! (Still on original 1.53 base).
Have some problem.
LED blinking for a few minuts and after don't blinking
Mine is just fine.
Mine was useless. You can't even see the led from the sides, only when u look pretty much straight at phone. Led is behind the speaker grill.

Also coming from Desire, this is a topic of concern for me as well, since I usually look at my phone from an angle when it isn't in my hand...
Same issue with the One X

good and cool idea as far as design goes, but most definitely not good for notifications
Mine is international unlocked, but with french CID. The led is too down and catches up just the first row of holes on the grill.
I must say it's completely unusable. I'm looking for a way to hardware fix it with some light conductive material.
Maybe a software patch to boost up the LED current will be also needed.
On HTC Mozart it's also under the speaker grill, but it's way to bright compared with the One S one.
mine works except I notice it only blink for like 5 minutes and turn itself off.
Mine is kinda useless, since it's almost impossible to see it unless you hold the phone in your hands...
