hi im new and have a quick query im desperate for an xdaII and it seems ive found a bargain the problem is the connector on the base of the xdaII is not working so the phone will not charge and will not sync with pc on the cradle, battery has to be charged seperate from the pda,ive heard this is a common fault but is it easy to repair as i obviously would like to be able to charge it but more importantly i want to use it with a wired gps cradle for my tom tom navigator.
It all depends on how badly the port is broken.
Here is a page that shows diagrams ofthe connection pins, hopefully it will help you repair it.

Hi all,
So I travelled to London for Windows Server 2003 exams. Wanting to travel light, I brought my new JAVO EDGE sync and charge cable with me. I should have tested it as it's not functioning to charge the device! This is a known issue and I read the posts about how to modify the cable. However I'm in a hotel in the evenings and have no access to solder etc.
Does any local person reading the board know where I can buy a charger or a functioning sync and charge cable? If I bought an iPAQ sycn/charge lead would that work? I was thinking that the iPAQ leads are probably available at Dixons or something on Oxford Street as that's also close to the hotel.
Anyway, I'm kinda stuck. Not enough power left to even back up the device, phone is switched off at this point and I'm also uncontactable! Really, help!
Thanks
Howard
best to get yourself down to a local O2 shop. Post the postcode of the hotel (or send it only to me if you are worried) then I can look one up for you. Any help?
Will they have the accessories in Stock?
I don't actually know the postcode, but the nearest tube station to my hotel is Bond Street. Typical tourist in that sense sorry.
Thanks for your help, I'm somewhat relieved to know that I might not actually lost all my data!
Cheers
Do NOT use the ipaq charger, it may kill your xda, the wiring is different although the connections are the same, you need to do a backup just in case you dont get a charger, the Orange SPV charger will work with it also.
Woah! Thanks for that.
I'll try the O2 shops on the way back to the hotel and hope that I can get something to work.
Thanks
Howard
Thanks guys for your suggestions.
I went to an O2 shop on Oxford St. and they directed me to the Flagship store right opposite Bond Street Station. Anyway, they had lots of accessories there, and I ended up buying a charger and the connector. 30 quids Sterling! I should file a suit against JavoEdge for misrepresenting their products.
Cheerio

i started with the XDA them moved onto the XDA2 and on that the buetooth (talking mainley for headset use) worked OK, a few soft resets and so but in the whole it was useable.
Stupidley i upgraded to a XDA2s mainley for the WiFi but as you all know the bluetooth for headsets and the quality of the microphone in the device was crap.
But i am happy to report the bluetooth headset on the new ADX2i is OK, it crackles a bit now and then and dose not always connect, but its far far better than the XDA2s ( i had 6 in total) 1x PDA2K a sim free XDA2s and then 4 replacements from o2.
One stupid thing i did was when i sold my XDA2 i sold it with 3 spair cradles and 3 spair batteries. I wish i had not done that as i could sure do with then now.
If anyone needs any cradles or batteries for XDA2s or MDA3 please let me know, i have cradles batteries and chargers, and stlus all of witch are now useless
John
any spare XDA 2 stylus????
Keep on losing mine....had 3 and lost all three???
So you are reverting back to xda 2?
Sorry no spair stuff for the XDA2 , as i gave it away when i sold the XDA2, but i wish i had not done that as everything is the same on the XDA2i.
At least the 2i fits in the 2s cradel but the batteries are different, And just to confirm the battery in the XDA2 is the same as the XDA2i ( not just in size its the same part number )

Hi, I've recently registered despite lurking for most to the time I've had my XDAII, but never had to ask a question becasue someone else got there first.
I'm being forced down the route of changing from my XDAII because the touchscreen section cracked yesterday Having said that given the amount of abuse I've given it I chuffed its lasted this long, probably a year better than any other phone I've had!
One of the major things I use my XDAII for is Sat Nav, using TT3 and a Holux GPS cradle, which is a very neat installation one power lead, no need to wire up a reciever or power a bluetooth reciever etc. My understanding is that all of this can be reused if i go to either the XDAIIi or XDAIIs, because the connector pins and OS are the same (or atleast similar) etc.
However if I upgrade to the XDA Exec, I'm going to need a new cradle, new GPS reciever (because I dont think anyone does a combined cradle and reciever for the Exec like I have currently), and new TT5 software to use with the 2005 spec OS? Does anyone do a powered/active 'stick to the windscreen' mount for the Exec, the Brodit unit looks like its vehicle specific, whic his great if you only drive one car...which I dont! does anyone do a wired GPS reciever to mate with the Exec or do I have to use tart mode, sorry bluetooth?
What are your thoughts on all of this? To Exec or not that is the question.
Regards
Iain
Brodit do a suction cup windscreen mount in the Proclip range. I would imagine this to remain compatible with their Exec cradle.
Hi,
I retail all the brodit kit, if you are not already sorted, ill be happy to advise if i can.
Hope that helps, PM if you need any assistance.
Thanks
Bryson
I am looking at buying an imate ultimate but there seems to be some issues with charging it while the Tv out is connected....
I want to be able to display my tomtom on an external screen that i have in my car, it is much bigger than a phone screen.....
I have been led to believe that i cannot charge the phone while i am using tomtom which is pretty useless really.....
Is anybody aware if there are any ways around this...?? Is there a cable that can be bought or made up....??
Is there any way to identify what pins do what and how to make up a cable...??
Can 11 pin usb ends be purchased from anywhere to make a cable....???

Sorry for the late response. Had not noticed your post before. The TV-out cable, which is included in the 9502 package, already allows its battery to be charged whilst connected to the TV/projector.
Just my 2 cents...
Cheers!
Carlos

You're welcome, Roger! Some pieces of advices: if you decide to buy an i-mate 9502, register it on www.imate.com right away, in order to be allowed to use their i-Q services (very useful, IMHO), then dowload their official WM6.1 v1.77 ROM from there, and flash it on your device.
You see, although I've come from a much beloved HTC Universal (O2 Xda Exec flavoured), I have never regreted having shifted to the 9502.
Cheers!
Carlos
yes the tv-out cable is included in the package. The TV-Out feature works perfect and there is still a way to plug your charger on.
there is also an option (Start -> Settings -> System -> TV Out) for NTSC and PAL tv systems. Checked on PAL and works...
Hi Folks,
Yesterday I repaired the Backlight/LCD of my Raphael and destroyed the coaxial cable thats connecting the mainboard and the other board. After this action I tried to work with the phone but i have no receiving. Now I bared the rest of the cable and i have a little bit receiving. First i wanted to braze it, but the connectors are to small.
Has anyone an idea where i can get that part (coaxial cable)? I searched the www but didn´t found anything. Or are there any other ideas to get the phone correctly working?
I´m very sorry but that was my best english
Maybe someone can help, me.
Greetings,

Ouch sorry to hear
It always hurts when you try to repair one thing and in the process something else breaks. ( my poor psp and its LED mods )* RIP
Try having a look in the Raphael accessories forum.

sounds like you are talking about the "ribbon flex cable".
I damaged mine on my wizard or kaiser back in the day and ended up buying a damaged device off of ebay (one that was run over by a car!) and then taking the part form that device.
also you could check cnn.cn as they have parts for phones as well.
Hi,
Thanks for your replys. It´s not the "ribbon flex cable" it´s the cable shown in the picture named "antenna wire".
When there is another way then buy an old rapahael i´ll take that
