I am not sure if it is my device or an inherent problem that I am not able to use my phone when changing. there is no voice but it is still able to ring.
have you tried doing a hard reset to see if it works
backup using sprite then restore & see what happens
tried that but still doesn't work. Does anyone else have the same problem?

I've searched the forums and couldn't find any post so I hope I'm not duping
Anyway, my problem started after the first time I used Sprite backup to restore my PPC (HTC Diamond) after my first ROM update (official Swedish one). Whenever I try to search for updates (I know there's none out yet) it fails with the error "Could not connect to the update server. Control your connection settings and that the devices date and time is correct" Error code 80072f05. So I tried a hard reset without restoring anything and it worked, also it kept working after I restored just what I really needed from the backup (emails, sms, address book). Yesterday I checked again to make sure that the problem hadn't returned, but it had. So today I tried a hard reset again, but with no luck even without me touching anything what so ever.
I would be grateful if anyone knew what could cause this problem, and how to resolve it.
Thanks!
Hi Guys
I am experiencing the incorrect phone lock problem. After a soft reset, the phone lock code is not accepted no matter how many times I give it correct. I tried all the possibilities listed in the forums like taking out battery, using the red button on the back to soft reset, etc. I think the only thing I can do is to hard reset as there is no solution to this problem as of now.
Unfortunately I didn't enable automatic periodic backups on my phone. So, with a hard reset I am going to lose all my contacts, text messages and other data. I am not worried about losing them except the text messages, I desperately need them.
I would like to know if there is there still a possibility that I can backup or sync text messages and if possible the contacts as well. I tried using active sync with the phone locked, it didn't work. Hope someone could help me with this.
Thank you
I cant not receive texts but i can send them and I've tried everything i can think of taking the battery out resetting it and deleting the text messages? can someone help please
I had this problem before, which seemed to occur when I changed the firmware string in my system file to unlock the full android market.
I reverted back that change, and then restored from my most recent titaniumbackup to fix this issue.
I'm not 100% sure on what causes this, nor what exactly fixed it, but I did manage to fix it without a full reflash.
the thing is it was a full fresh phone and was in complete working order then it just stopped working there was not anything done to the phone
Just received my galaxy s5 and everything was working great for about 4 days, The only problem I have found is when using my dialer to call my work voice mail. I can dial the number and connect just fine, but when I have to put a password or enter an extension it is unresponsive. I have did a soft reset and it seemed to work for 3 or 4 hours, but the same problem returned. Did a factory reset, but problem still exist. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Sounds like a touchscreen calibration issue hopefully. Have you tried turning on touch sensitivity quicktile in pulldown menu? Other than that, have you been in ART or anything root installed? Trying to see what may cause this other than plain stock, which I have not experienced personally this issue.
Thanks for responding. At some point I did change to the ART run time environment. After that I did a factory reset and I am back to dalvick. After further research I am able to dial a number that has prompts to get further into the system with no problems. So I have determined that my phone system at work does not like kitkat 4.4.2. It will work with any phone except ones that have kitkat 4.4.2 installed. I know it sounds weird, but that's how it seems to be. Maybe I just need to find another job.
Anyone else have this happen? Was ok yesterday and today nothing. I have to use speakerphone to hear anything. Cant find anything in the settings that suggest somethings been turned off. Is there anything that I can try without doing a full restore?
Edit - Got it working after a couple of reboots cache wipes it started to work :-| no idea why but at least it is
