I found that the serial port (and therefore the pinout of the connector) on Blue Angel is not compatible with earlier HTC devices (especially the handshake lines). Did anyone encounter problems with connector compatibility too?
The Magician uses mini-USB
The Himalaya and Alpine use the same one as the iPAQ 2 & 4 series (and some others, but I am unsure which ones)
The Blue Angel uses a different one, I am unsure why. Maybe deals with accessory makers to stop things being re-used indefinately (maybe I am too skeptical).

I am a new XDA user and have been looking through the XDA forums to see how to repleace the MS stack in my mini but there is alot of contradictory information out there
I have Ipaq BT headsets that I want to use on it......can anyone help or point me in the right direction?
mate i have been trying to get this to work for a month now with no luch, i ended up offering a 200 eur reward to the person that gets this to work. BUt still nothing
HELLO? Why on earth would you want to do this right now. Until they get all the LOADS of bugs out of the Widcomm stack why would you want to mess with the mini's perfect MS bluetooth stack.
I would love my mini to have bluetooth headphones but I am not willing to go back to that terrible stack.
because the widcomm stack supports so many different profiles then the MS bluetooth stack
Agreed Walshie. Besides Widcomm having a better variety of profiles, it is more stable that MS......Why do you think the IIs has a Widcomm stack? HTC is just being cheap with the Mini. I have used both and let me tell you, MS is more unstable and less useful with a multitude of BT products.
Agreed
I think the Guest above must have been speaking about the Blue Angle Broadcomm Stack, and I agree that was a piece of crap in the beginning.
Now, as I read and understand, the Blue Angel ROM Upgrade plust the new Broadcom toll makes the BT Stack pretty darn attractive.
One of two things have to happen. Someone has to provide a stable and good procedure for switching out the MS Stack to Broadcom or someone has to come up with a toll for the MS Stack that provides good functionality.
HP bluetooth stereo headset with Magican (mini) possible?
Hello,
I have been browsing this forum for hours now.
I cannot figure it out if it is possible ti replace the bluetooth stack of the i-mate (mini) in order to use the HP bluetooth stereo headset
I just bought this headset and i am not sure anymore if i can use it.
If it is possible (i would be so happy) could someone give us a step by step, with all the files and all the instructions.
It is pretty difficult to get it from all the threads when you are not an expert.
Thanks in advance.
John
All,
Does anyone know where I can get hold of a BMW car adaptor for the inbuilt Bluetooth system (you know the one in the centre console)?
I have just received a 5 series and cannot find a suitable adaptor. They exist for iPhone and Blackberry but not for a Diamond or any other HTC device...
Can anyone help me?
All the best,
Sam.
also looking for this snap-in adapter
Hi, have you found a suitable BMW snap-in adapter for your HTC?
I have a htc diamond touch and also looking for an suitable adapter.
Please let me know if you found one
Best regards
Bart
I've just got a BMW and am also interested in a cradle for a HTC Diamond or Diamond HD.
In the last 12months since the above post has anyone came across a suitable cradle? I'm primarily interested in using it to boost the signal strength with the external antenna.
The closest thing I found was this DIY guide: http://forums.5series.net/index.php?showtopic=60462
I'm reccomending checking out http://www.brodit.com/
I've just used it to buy mount + holder (Molex version) for my BMW 3 and TouchPro2
It's working very nicely connecting to bluettoth sysetm, and what's more important just looks nice
I know what you mean. I am also looking for cradle adapter for HTC Desire Z to put in original eldow space in BMW5, but it looks it is not existing.

My Himalaya is starting to get pretty flaky - it's given many years of excellent service and I'll be sad to see it go. But I pretty much have to replace it so I started researching and have struck a snag:
While I'd love to get a Touch HD, if for no other reason than the 3.5 mm audio jack, the unit is way overpriced for my taste so it's not an option.
All of the phones on my shortlist have the EXTUSB interface and I'm wondering just how resilient that is?
I carry my Himalaya in the inner pocket of my motorbike jacket and listen to music whilst riding ... this hasn't been a problem with the 2.5 mm jack - does anyone think it would be a problem with an EXTUSB plug?
Scotty
My experience with miniUSB ports (essentially the same stuff) has shown them to be pretty damn durable... it may tend to get a bit loose (it'll become easy to unplug it accidentally; although will still maintain a connection without issue) but it won't outright break...that said, that may be different with extUSB
I suggest you invest in a stereo bluetooth headset... they're quite good these days; although I guess having another thing to charge is a bit of a pain
Does the One X have the same contact scheme for headphone mics as an iPhone. I found this...
http://www.openmusiclabs.com/projects/bootlegmic/
which has been tested to work on an iPhone, but Google has failed me on whether the pinouts are the same as the One X.
I dont see any differences between iphone and any other devices in this case, they all have standart 4 contacts plugs. The only compatibility issues is the chip for mic+buttons witch in this case not used.
On the side note, since it's reducing input level, why can't it be done on programming level?
This is a late reply, but...
Just to add some info in case it could help future researchers. Some Android phones (especially cheap ones) are unable to detect an external mic unless the proper headphone output impedance is detected as well. Heaphones range from 16-32 ohms. It may be possible to trick the phone into thinking you have proper headphone plugged in if you put 22 ohm resistors in the heaphone output channels on the bootlegMIC. I've not done it to the one I've made, but I might be making more soon and will experiment.
[email protected], yeah totally agree the mic gain should have been controllable from an interface from day one. But, where are we now...Android 7? Still nothing. It's probably one of my most persistent disappointments with Android.
Hello,
in microsoft store there is 2 different VGA adapter, one for RT version and one for PRO, but they look absolutely same... Are they different? Can I use adapters from SURFACE RT with SURFACE PRO?
They look very similar, but I believe the pins and electrical outputs are different. They are not believed to be compatible. I think the RT uses standard microHDMI (well, almost standard; the side of the tablet is not perpendicular to the port, which is nonstandard, but third-party ports should still work).

I want to sell my RT and buy PRO version and I don't know if I should sell my adapters and buy new for PRO..... yes, the tablet side in RT is not perpendicular but it is also not what much oblique to be the problem... USB port is also on the same side and I didn't have had any troubles with sticks, mouse or whatever...
I just can't find difference(excluding the skewness) between this adapters...
The RT only has micro/mini HDMI (one or the other I forget which), the pro (its not capitalised like RT btw) is display port, look at them and they aren't the same any more than a USB and a headphone jack. Sockets are different shapes, different numbers of pins and different electrical signals.
Your RT adaptors won't even fit the socket on the pro without you breaking the socket.
That is why there are 2 adaptors, an HDMI-VGA for the RT and DisplayPort-VGA for the pro.
