I cannot find any freeware software to play a dvd film from an SD card on my MDAIII.
The reason I require freeware is because this is a one of job for a presentation.
If anyone can point me in the right direction  I would be very gratefull.
THANKS in advance......
betaplayer is the best I've seen for playing movies. Plays most formats and I think you can download additional codecs for it if need be.
Sorry:What I ment to also say is I am trying to record from dvd to mpeg4 on my hard drive and then put it onto SD card to play on my PPC.
But hav'nt found any free software to do the job..
Thanks to Spb Tips and Tricks, use DVD Decrypter, AutoGK and PocketDivXEncoder. Play on Beta Player. All of these are free !
thanks for the info will get searching >>>>>>>>>>>>

Thanks to Spb Pocket PC Tips and Tricks (some very useful info here), I've decrypted my DVD with DVD Decrypter, ran AutoGK, and PocketDivXEncoder. DVD is now on SD card and I play it with BetaPlayer. Problem is I only get the 'Director's Cut' soundtrack and not the original soundtrack. The file on my PC plays the original. Anyone any ideas ?
Aparantly you have selected the wrong sound-track.
It should not bepossible (unless you created a multi-audio DivX) to have 1 single AVI playing different audio on different hardware.
Tip:
For this purpose Microsoft has the Windows Media Encoder suite.
AFAIk it has all the important options.
No need for extra players/codecs on the PPc!

Essentially true but BetaPlayer is more flexible, will play a greater number of formats and remembers where you left off which WMP doesn't.
hi all i just got a 500 meg sd card for my xda2i . my question i have lots of dvd movies and would love to put a movie on my phone but i only have 500 meg and dvds r much bigger than that . is there any way i can squash a dvd on to my phone . what program do u need to do this and will my phone play movies or do i also need to download a dvd player or will media playe play them . any help would be good on how to do it cheers
If you do a search you'll find loads of posts on this. There's free stuff as well as commercial software and you should be able to get 2 watchable films on your 512 MB SD Card.
i have a hermes with wm5 and windows media mobile 10. ive been having a hard time finding a program that will convert my video files (mostly avi) to a format that my pocketpc can play. any1 have a suggestion as to what converter i should use or if i should just find another video player? im looking to convert my video files to a very small size so i can keep several of them on my microsd card. is pockettv a good player for what im looking for?
try tcpmp (the core pocket media player)
free and plays just about everything.
just search the forum or try my wm5 thread below, (think I put the cab in there)
A lot of movies are coming out with digital copies & they are all in WMV format but our players don't support it.
I tried searching but all I found was the plugin for TCPMP, which didn't work too well. Anyway I would like to know if there is a plugin for WMP on our phones? I have a few of these digital copies & I would like to put them on my storage card for those boring days at work. If anyone has a plugin or a solution, I would really appreciate it.
Where are the movies?? Anyways, CorePlayer should play them, about $25 directly from CoreCodec, which should be cheap for you judging by your avatar !
What are you talking about? Windows Media Player plays WMV files. it's already on your phone.

Talking about certain codecs not included in WMP, so you need a different player. Most videos can't be played through WMP.
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to not have to buy anything new but you gotta do what you gotta do. Anyway, a new question... if I buy this coreplayer will it do everything tcpmp does or do I have to keep tcpmp on my Kaiser?
As far as the movies... I have Juno & AVPr right now but a lot of movies come with an extra disc right now that you can download it from... Look for it on the cover, it says digital copy right on it

Cool, I have to check out my friend's DVD collection . Anyways, CorePlayer does all the main functions of TCPMP, but a bit better, and I personally like the looks of it better. It has the YouTube function built-in, but currently you have a limited number of results, so if your looking for a specific video, you must type a lot. I use CorePlayer as my main video player, and still keep TCPMP with the FLV bundle to watch video directly from the web.

Sweet I been reading up on it since you suggested it & I'm sold on it now. Thanks I hope it plays these movies. I'll let you know as soon as I got it all set up
WACK!!! Same thing as tcpmp... Granted, it looks better but its the same outcome. The video will start but it won't play. It starts loading & then it stays like that forever. Occassionally it plays a clip of the sound but only a fraction of a second
Any tips for the settings to change Champ?
All
(Please note I done the searches here!) Could someone let me know how to convert DVDs etc and watch on HD2?
Im looking for a freeware software and simple step by step guide. Ive read posts on here... but Im really lost with some converting programs as the settings (to me at least!) can be bit complicated - I have no idea regarding which options would give the best pic on HD2. Or if you can give me a good link somewhere would be great!!
Thanks guys.

Hi,
I have encoded DVD Disk into WMV file or Divx file. I usually watch these files over my DVD Player which works. Great. Interestingly, I can copy the same file in my HD2 Memory card and play using Mobile Divx player.
