Hi folks,
Does anyone have any info about sites that are selling these? Sandisk website has been updated with this product in their product line.
Cheers!
Lakshman
In the Netherlands there is a shop, where you can put in pre-order. A few weeks ago, the owner told me it should be here this month. Maybe you can try it there.

Good luck
ps, if you somehow be able to purchase one, can you please post your experience with this card? I'm thinking to buy one too... [/url]
I wrote a review of this card a few weeks ago, and it should appear at US retailers in the next week or two, I'm told. Not sure about overseas.
I've used it with my XDA II and it works well.
From what I've heard, you need Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition to support this card; does this mean you have SE for your XDA II?
-e
WM2003 SE is most definitely not required for the card.
I tested it in a variety of WM2003 PPCs and it worked fine. At the end of last year, SanDisk had the drivers working for SE but since have developed drivers for pre-SE versions of the OS.
There wouldn't be any point in releasing the card now if it only supported SE since the Dell X30 line are the only SE devices and two out of three come with integrated WiFi.
I have this Sandisk SD Card with 256Mb and WiFi, she doesn't work on my SPV M1000/Qtek 2020 1.66 FRA. It's impossible to format the SD card and the WiFi don't work.
Do you have any idea ?
Sandisk WIFI + 256 same problem here
i can't adress the 256 Storage.... and WIFI isn't working.
I did try different ROM's ....
Does anybody know how to solve this problem ???
Well, I certainly cannot help you but I can confirm the problems.
I have a MDA 2 mysqlf and running with the 1.72 firmware.
For users who are considering about buying the card, this is what I send to the sandisk support:
After having installed the card according to your instructions and having done a soft-reset I finally plugged in the card.
I am always asked whether to format the storage card.
Even if it is formatted I am not able to access the card (as storage card).
Every time I select the AP Browser the device freezes.
Even when I turn off radio mode the green light blinks and wifi is not turned off!
Sometimes the device freezes if I go to any tab of the configuration utility.
Selecting SanDisk Wi-Fi from Settings->Connections I sometimes see the message "Card not found" but the card is definitely inserted and even blinks.
Finally I am therefore not able to use the card neither as storage nor as wifi-card.

I the same problem exactly, can you have keep us informed of the response of the support?
By using the drivers for PPC 2002 (It's strange !!!), there is a small improvement since the WiFi is finally detectable! But the 256 Storage doesn't work
Detectable - but not that useable it should be.
Please keep in mind it will definitely help if other users/owners of this card write to Sandisk. They won't care much about our issues if only a single solemn user describes it to them but it will slightly increase the pressure if every one contacts them!
(Up to now no answer from Sandisk.)
I also wrote to the technical support for this problem...
You can buy that card in Germany (they're also shipping into thw whole EU) at Reichelt: http://www.reichelt.de.
Back to the problems: Have you noticed it? At the top of PPC 2002 drivers you can read "SanDisk... SD Card" where using PPC 2003 drivers you have to wonder about "SanDisk... CF Card"!
Finally, PPC 2002 drivers do detect the card as written above but it takes an unlimited amount of time activating radio (unsuccessfully). And please notice your SDBusDriver.dll is overwritten with one which may not be suitable for the device (else Qtek would have it delivered, not SanDis).
(Short: The utility does not freeze but you can't use the card anyway.)
This SD isn't compatible with the Qtek !!!

Unfortunately due to hardware limitations with your device the sd wifi 256mb will not work.

I am somewhat angry. They have explicitely listed the mda 2 in their compatibility charts!

Unfortunately due to hardware limitation, the MDA II is not supported on the SD WIFI 256MB card. The single function one will work fine.

SAN Disk Answer for compatibility
Your Response:
...
http://www.sandisk.com/consumer/download/sdwifi/sdwifi_compatability_list.htm My device is a PDA of the 'xda II, mda II, i-mate (HTC)' type, as the mda II is the T-Mobile MDA2 (aka HTC Himalaya - look at www.xda-developers.com). So is there any chance of making the sandisk device work proper?
SanDisk Response:
Unfortunately, we are talking about 2 different devices.
The compatibility list you have mentioned is for SD WIFI CARD (no memory). The SD WIFI 256MB card is not compatible with your device.
Remark:
no memory = SDWSDB-000-E10, 256MB = SDWSDB-256-E10
hope that helps
Thanks, Clemens.
Here are some more details I received:
The dual function card will not work in the XDA due to luck of Custom Bus driver in the unit.

Well then, does anyone know how to recover the overwritten files? (SDBus*.dll) After having previously made a hard-reset I have not been able to find them (with Resco File Explorer and by Active Sync) and now another hard-reset would not be that funny.
Or, can anyone provide the original files for the others?
Same problem.....
SanDisk Response: (07/22/2004 10:22)
Unfortunately, due to hardware limitation with the MDA II the card will not work.

Your Response: (07/23/2004 09:59)
Thanks for your answer, before I ordered the card, I've successfully tested the MDAII with your Wi-Fi SD Card (the one without memory) and it worked fine. The MDA II has the same hardware as the HTC Himalaya. Is it possible to do a software/firmware update, or is it a real "HARDWARE"-problem?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SanDisk Response: (07/23/2004 03:05)
Due to lack of Custom Bus Driver in the unit the card will not work properly. More likely there will be need for a firmware update by the manufacturer of your unit.

Thanks, Finaly I have to return the WiFi -Card to the reseller where i bought it, I also tried the newest firmware (version 1.72 HTC Himalaya) and a second PDA-device with no success.... How can I be absolutely sure that the sd-card is 100% OK and has no defect?

Are you refering to the SD CARD or SD WIFI 256MB CARD.
Okay or not the sd wifi 256mb card would not work in your unit.
Sorry not to come up with a solution, but you might take comfort from knowing that there are lots of posters who have had problems with their Sandisdk SD wifi card, me included. I'm at the end of my tether.
I am perservering with Sandisk tech support for now.
There are some useful posts if you search around with things to try to get it working, and some people seem to have had success.

OK so what i would like to do is turn my phone into a card reader.
Think about it, your on holiday or just out and about taking photos with your camera (not your phone), id like to be able to transfer images from the camera's SD to the phone.
The hardware seems simple - all you would need is
a female usb to male micro usb adaptor, and
a usb sd card reader.
My question is can the desire be use in such a way? And if so is there an app?
Thanks
Rick
You need a usb host kernel and an external power source. For the time being, there in not a ready user friendly solution.

It would be nice with some kind of standard protocol for driving USB-devices soon.

Hey everyone,
I'm new here and really have never been a forum member before. Love everything that XDA offers so I thought I would ask all you smart people a question.
I am wondering if it is possible to make a bootable sd card or usb that will boot onto my manufacturers head unit. I love android so much I would love to just put the sd card or usb dongle into my HU and have Android pop up.
Thank you for anybodies response!!!
