Hi
Has anyone here hardwired their phone mount / GPS receiver to their car battery?
I have a Mitsubishi FTO and want to hardwire my powered GPS mount to the battery, but I'm assuming the process would be similar for most car makes.
Would be interested in finding out how you did it etc.
Cheers

why dont u wire it to the back of the Cig socket
It 's not hard. First you gotta get a car charger for your PDA. Then, to make it look good, ya gotta go get current from your car lighter and hook it directly to your charger, and hide the charger behind the radio, ou in the fuse box. this way, you still have your lighter slot free, and thiz way cant see the charger sticker on the lighter slot.
I've use this metod to adapt a desk cradle to my car:

Would a big magnet stick to the bottom of the i-mate 7150?
Would a magnet sticking to this cause any progrems for the pocket pc?
I have an idea for my car but first need to find out if this would be okay...
The HTC Athena has a large magnet in it (and a hard drive) but it works well with no ill effects, the largest problem with a powerfull magnet is when you put the PDA in your pocket, it can wipe out the magnetic strips on credit/ bank cards etc - I have a number of swipe cards that no longer work since getting my Athena!!! - Mike
hmm alright.. i have an idea that i was thinking about..
For any of you not familiar with the Acura Integra, on the dash board, it has a decling indent to show the clock..
now i was wondering.. i would like to but a large magnet under the dashboard before the clock so then i could open up the i-mate 7150 and place in the indentation and not have it sliding around and be held firmly.. i know this may be kind of confusing but for anyone who understand do you see any reason why this cant be done?
here is a picture of the dash board

No reason you couldn't try it - one word of caution though if the car is equipped with air bags take care when working behind the dash - set one off and it would probably put you in hospital.
Check out Brodit for a holder and Pro Clip for the device though, they offer a profersional and safe mount for most devices and cars - a magnet probably won't hold the device in the event of an impact, a heavy phone/ PDA flying around the cabin could cause serious injury - Mike
Ever think of trying something like this?

Target/KMart stores sell smaller versions that would prabally be better.
BTW... i always thought magnets mess with the landscape function in the phone..
heh I found this lying around in Huashan's ROM. It'll be dopod's T9188.
Didn't see it online anywhere else, so decided to share them (just thought that you guys may be interested)
I spot a memory card slot, and is that a stylus that I see?
And that (lower) hole in the backplate, is that a kickstand? a large device where a kickstand is required?

Nice find!
Random Observation, though: Is the device...upside-down? The speaker grill (similar to HD2) is on the top, but so is the stylis, a charging port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Thought I'd point that out.
Looks like im the first one to say that obviously its a GSM version of the EVO
with a stylus ?????

I think it's a power button at the top, and a charging port at the bottom.

Possible windows mobile.
Neither WP7 needs stylus nor android so it must be Windows Mobile or anything new?
Thanks for sharing!
Best Regards
Regardless of which device this is, these photos are really cool. It's like those books I used to read where they would show the insides of planes, boats, etc.
Hi everyone,
I am working on building some htc desire docks as I havent phone a commercially available one that suits (and id like to see my work on my desk!)
The question I have is to do with charging status, basically I want to put an LED in the dock what shows the charging status, the only thing I am not sure about is how to go about actually finding out the charging status! Does the microusb send a signal when battery reaches 100% ?
I think its done off the voltage reading. If you buy a charger which already has an LED indicator on it then you could re-wire it no?
Also you already have the status on the phone LED itself so do you really need this?

Also true, however the plan gets a bit more advanced at this stage, my pc case has colour changing glow lights underneath it (just led's that output different colours at different voltages) So as well as a desktop one I was looking at modifying my case so the phone sits ontop, charges, and the leds change colour when its charged, pointless I know!
nice thread, but sadly no one here seems to be doing diy docks? ive seen some awesome looking diy docks for the droid.. herghost, are u done with your dock?
just wanna share my recently diy lego dock, hope others can join in the fun

i´m planning to build a dock for my desktop with integrated vfd-display for my pc next week....i´ll post pictures, when it´s done.
Can't wait to see it. I'm modding a iphone one to take mine as that's what I have lying around
I did something drastic today. I ripped apart the old TF-101 keyboard (already broken prior) to get at the battery pack inside, opened my son's Transformer, and swapped out the dead battery inside with the one from the keyboard, only to find out that... the other pack is just as dead as the one already inside the Transformer.

I get the same red battery icon when I try to turn on the Transformer I just reassembled using the other battery. Now, I could in theory remove the battery from the second Transformer I have in order to do this, but opening up one of these things and extracting the battery is a non-trivial task to say the least, and I don't relish doing it again. A new battery is rather expensive, at around $40 + delivery, and to be frank I'd rather just spend that $40 as part of the cost of a new tablet. However, it turns out that there are some files inside that thing that I want to be able to recover (mostly photos and videos), so I'd ask what options I have for attempting to power up that thing one last time to extract the data from it. One way would be to use the working Transformer's battery, but that is obviously quite out of the question. I could put the thing on a lab bench somewhere (just assume that I have the facilities to be able to do this) and feed it with 7.4 Vdc along the same 8-pin header that the battery uses, to fool the tablet into thinking it had a working battery, allowing it to boot. What do the wires do, and what voltage levels should they have in order to make the tablet think it has a good battery?
There is a USB mod on the forums here somewhere to feed 1 USB port on your machine 12v instead of 5v using a 12v molex feed from the PSU, which allows charging from a USB port, which would also allow data access from the same port
I`ll post a link if I find it
EDIT - Could be here somewhere

Hi everyone,
I recently got my watch
So far I can tell you that I got the first (i think) OTA dump for Android Wear 2.0
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fFN4woS7a6jEioeYaG76USHRzDQFk6HF/view
The Sim can be replaced, not easy as you can think but it can!

If someone has a broken one, I could do replacement video for sure. I didn't find any USB connection that could be used in the recoverymode...
There is a group working on a USB connector with the Band pins over here:

Here's an idea,
So we know which pins are required to interact via USB and can now install TWRP on it. The problem with this is that in order to use USB, we have to take apart the watch and fancy a connector out of wires and such. From what I read, contained in the band is a LTE antenna connected over 4 pins (and I believe a Wifi antenna in the other), since we dont need LTE (at least where I'm at in Canada), perhaps routing the 4 pins (and de-soldering them from the motherboard somehow) to the USB pins on the motherboard could make a much cleaner way to connect usb. this would require quite a bit of fine soldering, but if you're up for the task im sure the old LTE band can be hacked apart to fancy a USB plug out of making USB access alot easier. Could help with development forsure. I havent received my watch yet but I think this would make a decent mod.
got this verizon wear24 watch die on me - touchscreen sensor isnt registering any touches. any suggestions to revive it?
