xda2mini does hard reset after take battery only for 10secs - General Topics

my case is:
both main n backup baterry ARE 100%. and i just take out the battery for 10secs (just to test), and after put the battery back, when i pressed the power buttion, this will give me hard reset.
i tried to turn the plane mode on, then push the power off before taken out the battery, still same.
anybody can give explanation for our problem?? could it be the backup battery dead???
i made little experience last night. i let the MAIN battery till ONE (1) %, but BACKUP STILL 100%. then i went sleep for about 8 hours. in the morning, i CAN NOT turn my mini at all... pressed power and nothing. then i plug it to my desktop via usb. and it come suddently, without any soft/hard reset!! i immediately straight away check the battery status, its said : MAIN: 0% (charging) and BACKUP: 100% !!!! how coudl it fully charged my backup battery back to 100% in only 2 seconds after i plug the usb cable?? its very strange!
what will happen normally when the main battery going down till 0% ?? i should use the backup batt, right?? please help me. .
thanks all!!!

hi all... for who has the same problem like mine (take out batery then got hard reset instead of softreset), the solution is: SENT IT BACK FOR REPAIR TO THE SERVICE CENTRE.
also, dont forget to write: " please change my RF/MAIN BOARD" otherwise, they will change ur backup battery only, and this wont solve the problem.
i got mine fixed, and i get new IMEI number as a result. first, they replace the backup battery only, and WITHOUT CHECK it, send the phone back to me. im shocked to find that it still had the same problem. made a serious complaint and send it back, this time the manager take care of my phone directly.. hehhehehe.... well, thats the story... thx for all of u that read n give comments about this problem.

your backup battery doesn't act like a secondary power.lt purely saves your devices settings when the main battery is flat.lt is not an lnternal battery that lets you carry on using your device when the main battery is flat.there does seem to be some lssues with the backup battery when you take the main battery out as sometimes for some reason it does do a hard reset....

I have same problem with my XDA IIs.

@jaythe magic
well,.. yes, i agree wit you. but all my friends that have xda2mini NEVER got hard reset when they swap SIM card (some of them do swapping quite often) and the 02 service center said they replace the my mini 's RF / main board. so, still, my suggestion, if you have this kind of problem, better quick send it back before your warranty expired

hard Reset Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm new to the forum so i hope someone might be able to shed some light on this problem.
I've had my Xda2 for over a year now and just lately it has been shutting it's self down with a full hard reset (i'm sure you can understand my frustration having to reload everything). I'm not sure if it is a hardware or software problem. when it is working it is showing a full battery. When it is off it wont always turn back on and if i plug it into the mains i only get a red light on the top and no other functions.
Is anyone aware of a bug! or what i can do to resolve the problem.
Thanks
your backup battery might be dead
maybe take it to o2 and they could check it for you ,while i ws upgrading i saw 1 of them check the battery of a phone ,maybe they can do the same for you
The power settings do indicate a full 100% backup battery but it's still worth having it checked out.
Thanks Andy-c1

HELP!!!Impossible to charge the battery, permanent RED Led

As i said on the title, suddenly i couldn't recharge my Universal anymore, yes i've tried with a brend new official battery as well but everything was in vain.As soon as i plug my charge to my Universal it appear a Red Led and after 3 min or so the led turn off and so the battery.
How can i fix this problem?!
Is there any chance?!
Is it really dead like that?!
Please HHHHHHHEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the battery is really brand new, then I guess the connectors might be damaged or the internal power buses might be broken somewhere. Have you dropped your device recently? Or did anything that might explain broken connectors or internal buses?
Nothing happened to my device and never felt down,it just happened suddenly! Now if i won't be able to fix this by myself this means a finger in da a.. cuz my warranty is expired!DAAAAAAAAMN

It can be a software error. Have you tried hard resetting or installing another ROM?

Your battery is fine, unfortunately your device broke
Unless you have a lot of specialized equipment at home, and the proper qualifications, there's no way in hell you can fix this. I'm sticking with my diagnosis, that either the power routing circuit broke down, or a power bus inside the device.
Really, your best off taking it back to the store, and paying for the repair. Either that, or buying a new phone, and selling this one for spares...
Sorry mate...

What a terrible news!I can't believe it!!!!
If i'll bring my phone to the assistant i'm gonna pay alot of money,at least 200.00 euro!!!!
similar problem
i had the exact same thing happen to my EXEC when i got 2 new batteries for it. One was a standard sized, pretty much the same as the stock one that came with the phone and one was a much larger capacity one that needs an extra cover for the back.
Id been using the device for ages on this huge battery and the charge said 100% constantly. then the device turned itself off and it wouldnt come back on. upon connecting the charger the LED was red, so i thought the battery was dead. I left it on charge over night and when i tried again the next morning it was fine.
this happens everytime with this battery, it just needs a much longer charge than the standard one, and doesnt register properly on the default OS, i havent tried it on my recent upgrade to one of the midget roms.
so try leaving it on charge over night or for a very long time. if all else fails just get a new battery.
That might reset the battery back to life, but I wouldn't exactly count on that. A battery with a broken monitor circuitry is pretty hard to reset.
My last hope,i'm gonna leave charging my phone for a day and then see what happend....I'm desperate
Permanent red light...
I had this problem, I put the phone on charge but forgot to put a battery in - spare phone... It wouldn't work no matter what I did , until I reformatted the DOC by following the steps in the WIKI.

Could u post it please?!
Took a while but here it is...
I did the task 28 55aa command in MTTY which should reformat the DOC alternatively you could reload the bootloader using the link below...
MTTY with "task 28 55aa", "set 14 0", "set 14 9, "set 14 10" and "set 14 20" as described. bootloader screen may be replaced with a blank one, boot it on bootloader mode by "Backlight+Power+Reset"
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Resets
now upgrade as usual.
If you stuck on the bootloader again after upgrading, try to upgrade the bootloader itself go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1255206&postcount=52

Exactly if my Jasjar is completely dead how can i connect via usb and then use mtty?!
I'm losing my hope to bring it back to live!
have same problem - can do nothing, still waiting
but there is one thing - led flashes once, when i put the charger into the device - but it does nor light, nor flashes - exactly nothing happens
If your device is dead...
Well just to answer the question, if the battery is dead and you can't charge it because of a red LED. I suggest you buy a standalone charger from ebay and charge the battery or get someone else to charge it for you. Then follow the steps as I stated in my previous post...

The point is that the device is dead and that is why the constant red light. I have a device that is stuck on the splash screen (no solution in sight) and another that fell down and broke. The one that fell down does not power on. If you put a charged battery ang plug in the charger nothing happens, no light comes on, but if you put a discharged battery the red light comes on. I have a third Uni that I accidentally flashed with a BA rom. It is behaving exactly like the broken uni, it does not turn on, does not go into bootloader and the red light comes on when I plug in the charger with a discharged battery in it.
For some things, there's just no cure...
Okay I understand where you're coming from but essentially what you need to do, under normal circumstances, is connect it to your PC, which if the device is working at all the PC will detect it but not connect... In the case of two of your Uni's I don't think this will help - the dropped one and the BA ROM failure. The one with the Red LED, which has stopped working could be a component failure on the board or it could be a Corrupt DOC table. Now to get back to how you'd go about fixing it if it is a corrupt DOC table, when you connect it to the PC and the PC detects it you disable ActiveSync and start MTTY it should give you the option of connecting to the USB port, when it does this if you get a prompt the problem should be fixable because MTTY can "talk" to the device... As for the other's try this method and if it doesn't work sell them for parts or canabalise the one for parts for the other...

vox - turns itself off with no reason ;/

hi,
as you can see, I've got quite unusual problem with my vox.
the phone screen goes black, it blinks once the right green diode for half a second (could this be an error code?) and turns itself off. (not saving any changes made, or sms sent/recieved)
it usually happens when I make a phonecall, or browse the net, but lately it has started to happen randomly, when I browse the menu, or use any other programs.
What's interesting, is that after turning the phone back on form such a malfunction, the battery status shows it's below 20% and turns itself off again almost instantly.
The only solution I've found so far, is to wait some time, switch it on again, and pray that the battery indicator would show the state before malfunctionong. If it does, the phone could work as long as the battery remains charged (or turn itself off again, as it happens more frequently lately)
Does anybody hav some clue what could it be? malfunction of the battery, or phone itself?
I dont think it's a software issue, because just yesterday I replaced WM6.1 (drGonzo) with wm 6.5 ( the 2.1 ver by frauhottelmann)
and it still occusrs.
Same problem
Yeah i am also facing the same problem with my Vox...it is around 1.5 yrs old...and i know its battery is dying...but it happens even the battery is fully charged...
Is it really because of the battery or some hardware...
Dude its due to battery .May be you are charging your machine through USB. Your battery need replacement..It will show you full battery. Its false showy.
I faced the same. Now I happy after changing my batttery
FIrst of all check the battery mates.
Me and my friend both had the vox that with full battery charged suddenly turned off after a call...and definitely was THE BATTERY.
Now I bought a double capacity for about 10 euros shipped...and my vox stays on without intensive usage (3-4 calls of 4 min each, and about 10-15 sms for about 8 (EIGHT) days)
Try to empty the battery completely and then recharge it completely!
To really empty it, put it in boot loader and unplug the cable. Let it sit until the screen turns off. Then recharge it without turning the device on.
My phone has started doing this recently, it doesnt seem to be as bad if I put it on Aircraft mode, but it always turns off randomly after a while at least, I am going to try frauhottelmann idea now.
Also, if it works I would like to flash it to WM6.5, how can I check to see if I need the USLP? I got the phone second hand so I am not sure what the phone was originally.
Had this problem for a few weeks now. Just put it into boot loader mode to see if it works. Shall let you know later or tomorrow
forgot to update the topic ;D
I've changed the battery for a new one, and now it's running smoothly and lovely

Since i m facing the same problem and that now it is confirmed that it is due to battery, I wished to try FMs idea. but its now more than 2 days in bootloader, my phone is still not discharged completely. is there any other way to completely discharge the battery?
Well, seems your battery has plenty of life! LoL
BTW I suggest you to activate BT and WIFI...then run TCMP into loop and maximum volume...
the phone should run out fast...when the phone suts itself off..you could do the FM's thing just to refine the discharge.

Good luck !

yap, its the battery alright. facing the same issue, but the battery is warn out due to intensive charging from my car...
so, incoming new battery
actually i think i have a different kind of problem... my mobiles do not restarts instantly, the screen first fades to grey (as if the lcd is damaged with only grey and white vertical lines visible), and then to black and then it restarts. has any one faced similar problems? Can this be solved by changing the battery?
and i dont know but somehow each time i set the correct TIME in the clock, after sometime my clock slows and shows the wrong time(as in case of a wall clock with weak batteries).
any suggestions?
This method worked for me....
Switch off the phone, take out SIM..clean the sim enclosure area and insert SIM..RESTART

An easier way to turn the phone off other than having to remove and rinsert the battery if the power button does not work, is to open the Sim card door.

[Q] [Question] Battery LED becomes gray sometimes with a "!"

Hello People,
Can somebody help understand why the Battery Icon turns on Gray with a "!" in the middle of it, and in battery information, status shows Unknown for 2 minutes ?
Thanks for your help
never heard of that, check battery contacts to ensure that they're clean, ensure fast boot is off before you power down device, you'll find option in settings, power.
I'd install a battery usage application like battery monitor widget and see what it reports during these "grey" moments
Swyped from HTC Desire S using XDA Premium
Thanks I'll do that now and see if the problem persist, will monitor also the battery; maybe i'll return the phone if the problem persists.

report back with the usage figures that you get and we can see if the battery is working as expected, other wise you may be better of simply trying to get a new battery on warranty rather then send in your device and loose it for a couple of Weeks, as it could be either battery or device that is faulty

Your battery is very probably bad. Is it a genuine HTC? Stop using it if it isn't!
Battery is Genuine came with the Phone !
I'll buy one from Muggen @1800mAh
I went to Vodafone to explain the issue, but you can't talk to an Uruk'hai you know !
Anyway, I wasn't expecting any help from them, as they're sharks like the others.
Thank guys for your help, I'll try with a new battery and give a feedback...
PS : Also contacted HTC...No comment, the poorest Tech.Support I've ever had to deal with. You ask a question with details, the answer is in 4 words -> Battery out of charge. and then they closed the case.thanks HTC.
this happened to me when the battery wasn't properly inserted
Ok finally HTC support answered that the icon means OUT OF CHARGE...Or that there's a problem ))))
Anyway the problem disappeared after I uninstalled Battery Widget.
Still waiting the new battery @1800mAh
Thanks all for your support and advise.

Gray/Icon episode 5 saison 1
Hello again,
Something strange happened yesterday....I configured the power management on the phone to switch to economic mode @20%, and when the battery reached 20%, the icon appeared for 1minute again, and disappeared.
I think HTC described correctly the issue Out Of Charge, the icon appears once the battery is about to be OOC...we'll see later the results and the evolution.

I would certainly try to return just your battery under the inital warranty....and see if it continues to occur afterwards with the one that they replace it with!
I have exactly the same problem on my phone. Talked to HTC, this is what the online support told me:
James: Have you tried removing the battery?
James: I recommend that we perform a soft reset on the phone. This is done by removing the battery from the phone while it is still powered on. Leave it out for 5 minutes and then put the phone back together and switch it on.
That's not good advice, is it?
Episode 6
Hello,
Not sure it's a good idea...are you sure you talked to a HTC support agent?
Taking off the battery while the phone is on....:-S wouldn't try it.
FYI I reset the phone from the menu, the problem still persist, I don't think it's a soft issue (or maybe it is? Bug, error, or I/O misunderstood by the code?) Anyway....for the moment my phone isn't doing it since I uninstalled the battery widget, will test it again with the Mugen battery when it'll arrive, and keep you informed about the original one until then.

WOw! that is really awful advice, although at least they had you wait before re-inserting the battery......A soft reset of the phone is simply to restart it from the Power Menu!
Ouch!
To power off properly, just reboot into the boot loader and then select power down.
That's off, off.

[Q] Sensation Battery

Hi all this question may of been asked before or slightly differently. I have Sensation with ICS (Unbranded) and had the phone since Sept 2011 and it seems when my battery gets to 30-40% left (approx) i start getting rebooting and becomes more so lower it gets. Now i know its not ICS as it started doing this 2-3 weeks when i had gingerbread. So could my battery be failing? or something more sinister going on?
Thanks in advance
Also when i upgraded to ICS i did a factory reset.

I'm a bit curious to see the answer for this one, my friend has the same problem, and I've been trying to troubleshoot it for him with no luck.
There are a few posts about switching the type of signal, which we tried, but it wasn't a good solution as he didn't get 3G network at where he lived
So i have now also turned wifi off (Only 3G enabled) and @ 50% according to battery indicator i went to open a message (SMS) and it rebooted on me.
Did you cablibrate the battery?
um no, never heard of battery calibration , any tutorials on what needs to be done. Thats new to me
Ah ok i found this on xda for non rooted device
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Fully Charge.
3. When getting 100% signal, unplug quickly.
4. Pull off the battery and put it anywhere.
5. Wait for 180 seconds exactly (be careful )
6. Meanwhile, take this opportunity to dust off the internal compartment.
7. Put back the battery on the right side.
8. Turn on the phone.
9. Pray the Battery god
10. ... and voilà !
Source : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312273
So i will give that a try
I tried my above post to calibrate battery and it didnt work for me so i sent my phone back for repair and alls good now. They never said what was faulty so the reason i guess is still unknown.
Some people on Facebook HTC UK page said it could of been a Ram or Processor issue, it wasn't a battery issue as I still use same battery and works fine since i got it back.

Thanks i tried everything inc. your idea and all failed. I returned it to HTC for repair in the end
my battery charged than i go from home out, than i looked my phone; phone turn off, than come bak my home and plug charge; but phone not charged-charge light not shine-. i plug my extended mugen battery and phone turn on. what the hell my original battery?
