MDACompact WWE 1.11.171 Era GSM in the Uploads Section - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

Wouldn't it be extra nicer to add a message, or -even better- add a text file along with the new ROM, explaining what it is.
I still do appreciate this forum as well as all the uploaders, but it would make everyone's life way more easier.

Hello
I'm this naughty uploader , it's extracted Polish Era GSM external rom. If you think it's worth to upload whole rom from my MDA just let me know. I thought that the name of the rared file itself is quite good explanation of the content but as I see it wasn't enough, sorry for that. I'll try to be better next time

hello there!
i am new (4months) to this forum and i have some questions.
i red the wiki. but still some things are very unclear.
but my biggest problem si that i can't figure out how many versions of WM6 are there. all i count is:
1. Midget_1990 v.1.0
2. Universal WM6 Pro ROM
3. Jwrightmcps ROM update 2.02.02
4. Jwrightmcps ROM Update 2.02.00 WEE
5. WM6 CHT/.../DUT with Radio 1.15.00 from Darkforce
are there any others ???
i appriciate all the users that took part of those releases, i realy do appriciate their work, but i think this forum is a little bit unorganised.
wouldn't it be better to name all the WM6 versions in the same way like:
1. [WM6] [Midget_1990] [1.0]
2. [WM6] [Jwrightmcps] [2.02.02]
3. [WM6] [Jwrightmcps] [2.02.00]
etc.....
or something like this, somename that includes the version, the build number, the os number, and put them sepparatly on the top of the forum (sticky).
and i would suggest to keep modifying the first reply from the topic. the one that includes the description of the version and to add all the things that are discovered by users.
sometimes it takes 20 pages to get and to read a reply that says something that really matters to you. the rest is just "thank you" replies.
for example, if you want to use an certain program you might spend a few days reading the topic and find out that you shouldn't have upgraded your device because u cannot run the program.
i personally don't understand what is "Universal WM6 Professional ROM".
from the name of the thread, it is not verry relevant who build it.
and also why is this one "professional"? i would call "professional" the WM6 release from an official source like HTC.
i don't want to offend anyone with this topic.
i just struggle to understand for 2 weeks what is going on with al these versions.
and i hopped that at some point, someone will make a conclusion about evry WM6 version, something like:
"version no.1 crashes evry 20min, etc...
version no.2 doesn't have videocall, msn chat, office, etc...
version no.3 is the best of all but still hasn't got a videocall function. this can be fixed with the cab provided in the topic (link), etc..."
again, i hope noone is offended by my post.
i trully appriciate all your work, but i just think that it needs to be just a little bit organised. all that hard work and sleepless nights of the authors, need to be a little more easy to read.
thanks in advanced for your time and your understanding!

wm6 professional ala wm5 pocket pc
wm6 standard ala wm5 smartphone
this is the new naming convention used by M$
there is PDAVIET rom, helmis rom leo's rom and probably rom released by couple of other people
i guess the reason why you see different nomenclature used for the rom is because all rom makers usually work independently.(though i really like your idea)
as for some app being incompatible with one given rom... well i guess i have seen some people claiming that a particular rom broke an application while some one else will say that it works...and frankly speaking the rom makers can not update their bug log just because one guy claims so...

The link is concering the discussion on the what you called professional rom, the do or don't release of HTC wm6 build for the Universal and the hesitating behaviour of many rebranders.
it`ll get easier
The forum is diverse, this is a good thing, just a little confusing at first.

3.55.502.01 BASIC WWE ROM (19214) [12Mbyte Page Pool] ** 6 Versions NOW AVAILABLE **

Firstly:
Sorry for the confusion I was not aware that "NO THRILLS" which is what I originally called this Basic ROM was someones 'Trade Mark'. Please forgive me for stepping on any toes, it was not intentional, and not intended to take away from anyones well earned glory. Sorry all!!.
So Here it is:
This is my first ROM I've put up for Download. I've been playing about with these ROMs for quite a while and I have really appreciated everyones help in developing wonderful tools and freely distributing them here.
XDA-Developers is just brillient
So This ROM is based on the latest ATT build (3.55.502.1) I have removed all of the ATT bloat ware, and several applications listed below, and left the ROM open for customizing. I have often found that Most ROMS have only the 5 tab Home, and the older Task Manager etc, so I have removed all traces of these applications and simply left the ROM barebones, so people can just add applications as needed.
Applications removed:
ATT Music Shop
ATT Games Shop
ATT Mobie TV
ATT Music ID
ATT Mall
Real Player
HTC Home
HTC Today Plug-in
HTC Task Manager
Windows Music Player Plug-in
Microsoft Welcome Center
Applications Added:
SDAutoRun
Windows Vista Wait Cursor
Windows Media Player Compatability Upgrade (now plays mp4 video)
Screen Capture App
Reg Editor
This ROM does run 2 additional small Cabs after first installed, these are adding small settings for the ATT network. These Cabs DO NOT AFFECT any none ATT users. Hence this ROM can be used on all carriers that I am aware of.
This ROM is compatible with all the 1.65 Radios. I have not Tried the 1.58 yet, but I have tried the new 1.71 Radio and that one is also compatible with this ROM.
Voice Command and all the OFFICE applications are still there, as is NETCF2.0
I have uploaded two copies, one with the radio, and one without.
I am planning on doing a fully loaded ROM soon based on this acrhitecture.
Please let me know what you guys and girls find with this new ROM
Thank you

I called this ROM a NO THRILLS Rom. Sorry for any confusion but this rom is in no way associated with the Master Chef "NoThrills". Please forgive me if I mis-represented this ROM. I simply ment that it was a stripped down ROM with only Basic Apps installed. In England where I am originally from No Thrills means just that, "very basic". Which is why I used the term. I was not aware until recently that "NoThrills" was a xda members name.
However, NOTATreoFan is dead right its "No Frills" I was thinking of. Doh!!!!! Trust me I program better than I apparently speak !!!
Sorry for the confusion NoThrills. Please don't hate me, i'm just stupid

Thx M8, I'll give it a go...
wich no thrills rom is this based on because its not v3? or is it just the no thrills concept

This isnt the "No Thrills" that you think it is, it looks like we have a new chef which is great but I agree that this should prob be changed from "No Thrills" that is of course you want a cluttered thread with questions like the above. Its always nice to have another chef though, Ill give it a whirl if I get the time.

You are right. I was not aware until just now that NoThrills was someones call sign. I have changed the name of the file and printed an appology in the listing.
Thank you for your comments.
Like yourself...I'm anxiously trying and struggling to become a avid chef in cooking ROMs. Is it possible that you could direct a noobie like me to a tutorial or Wiki about what steps you took to take out most of the different AT&T apps and such? This is something I've been trying to do for some time now and have failed at almost every attempt. Any help would be greatly appreciative so that I can further my cooking expertise. If you don't know where to find information could you possibly post a Wiki or tutorial on how you done it yourself?
EDIT: Can someone mirror this through MegaUpload? Rapidshare keeps giving me an error.

Great Entrance, Anthony, but I welcome your "stripped" WWE Rom to the Kaiser community..
Great stuff for those who like it plain and simple.
Good to see so many new chefs around.
Look forward to seeing more of your work in future.

Next time, I will think a little harder before giving my creations a name.

Hi,
I'm not sure if there is a quicker way to do it, but for me it was a case of locating each and every file for the apps not wanted and deleteing them. Then I went through each rgu file and removed all entries concerning the programs no longer installed. You also have to go through each provxml file to locate any references in there as well, otherwise the rom might develop instabilities. I also did some very minor dsm extractions.
My ROM will decomplie again, so if your looking for a basic architecture to begin on, download my rom and extract it.
Hope that helps

Which files are you refering too :
I used notepad for the following files
.provxml
.rgu
and a HEX editor for:
.dsm
I can not report to much success with the dsm files. My knowledge of this area is limited. I was able to remove some lines that were not wanted, but some of the files did not translate well.
Hope that helps
That helps me out quite a bit. I'm going to retry what I've been battling all night and see what I can come up with

Removing AAC files from ATT WM6.1 ROM

Hello Rom Developers. I am wondering has anyone of you intelligent ROM cookers thought of removing the 10 ACC music files in the windows Dir.
on the Tilt (HTC Kaiser 8925) that most users will never use? These files take up between 6Mb - 7Mb. with that much memory free the unit would run even smoother. If any ROM cooker takes up this challange please share. Also if there is a way for me (A Newbie) to remove them myself it would be greatly appreciated.
These files, and a whole lot of others, are removed from my series of AT&T ROMs.
well, first off, congratulations on your first post and welcome to this community!
if you did not want to flash a cooked ROM but still wanted these gone, I would try looking at this simple tool:

You can use HTC ROM Image Editor to easily remove AAC music files and any other unwanted music files from any ROM including the stock ROM.
Edit: mbarvian's post above just beat me to this - same info here
I think almost all cook would make those files gone first
Thanks
I really appreciate the fast response from such busy chefs. i will try the advice of each one given to see which best suits my likes. i really like the stock rom other than the junk files like such.
ooops
As I expressed earlier. I am a newbie. and I apologize for not knowing my way around the kitchen.. but how do i get this ROM editor to work with the Stock HTC ATT Tilt ROM? it is a .exe file on my pc confused:

Use any compression software (anything just a notch smarter than WinZip, that is) and unpack it, you'll find everything inside. WinRAR should do and it has free 30-day trial AFAIR.
FYI this "exe' is not really normall executable packed file.
Its just like a self-extracting zip containing 'real' executables and data inside.
Thanks 888
I will give it a shot.
You cooks are great. i will donate as well as soon as funds are avail to all those cooks i use.

Please Help with my confusion

I am very new to all this and definitely not ready to cook anything just yet. I had the AT&T Tilt and just got the Fuze today. I don’t want to ask questions that already have been addressed, but I have read so many posts that my head hurts--still not sure what I need to have/do. I loved the Kaiser Tweak.cab that I got from you guys for the tilt to set up HSDPA and other wonderful little tools…Is there a single cab file like this for the Fuze that does the same as the Kaiser did for the tilt? I tried using the Kaiser and it worked till I turned the phone off and back on…Help!!!! I miss the HSDPA and all.
Thanks and be gentle- its my first time….posting that is!
Gibby
Gibby,
One thing at a time my friend, what are you trying to do with your fuze?
Fuze Help
I am trying to find a single .cab file, if it exists, for the AT&T Fuze that will accomplish all the things the Kaiser Tweak .cab did for the AT&T Tilt. I would like to get the HSDPA speed back, the start screen animation to go away, and other functions that were in the previous tweak for the tilt. Please forgive me for not being clear, as that was my first post. Hopes this will help me get pointed in the right direction.
V/r Gibby
Ok, your device is aka Raphael so head over to that forum and have a look.
THere are some reg tweaks on this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413562
Also download advanced conf, works wonders on most phones
Also check out this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419746
The Raphael forum is packed with tweaks etc so have fun and do some reading.
The above will do you for starters
Thanks
Just wanted to say thanks for pointing me in the right direction, and also didn’t know the device was called Raphael. I have downloaded a lot of things from this site such as the @essentials_upd1, which has a lot of cab files like the advanced config file in it. It changed my 3G icon to H like I was looking for, but is this true HSDPA or do I need to “cook” my ROM to get better results/true HSDPA. This is what I am having a hard time understanding. Thanks again for the help.
GIbby
no need to cook your own rom, as long as your network supports hsdpa your kool! and with all due respect my friend, yout prob not ready to cook yet

Editing OEM/SYS when Cooking

hey folks. i'm new to this rom cooking thing. i'm using the Kaiser Kitchen. I've loaded a base rom into the folder and run the Begin command prompt. now i'm stuck. i have no idea what OEM/SYS items i can get rid of and what i need to keep. i'm just trying to build an extremely lite rom that has manila 2d with the weather under the clock on the home screen. but i don't want to go and delete something that i need, so i'm not comfortable doing any editing just yet. can anyone give me a breakdown of what this stuff is? or even point me in the right direction if it's already posted (which it probably is, i'm just not sure what to search for)? i'd greatly appreciate it. i'm enjoying this rom cooking quite a bit, but, like i said, i'm pretty new to this. i've never taken any classes or anything, so i don't understand some of the terms/procedures used on this site, so please use layman's terms if you reply to me. again, i appreciate your taking the time to help me out, even if it's just a finger pointing me in the right direction.
Hope it doesn't take you too long to read.
first off what's your base ROM (the ROM that you downloaded and put inside the BaseROM folder) and then I could tell you what to get rid of. By the kaiser kitchen you mean the one from the wiki correct?
I'm going to need more info on how you are putting the weather on the home screen (e.g. CAB, Package. etc.) and your BaseROM to tell you accurately what to do.
as for adding in that weather package, first make sure the manila version you are using is 2.x or more. I would say don't make a package out of the CAB (if that's what you are using to put the weather display on the home page). Instead go into the OEM folder and look for the OperatorPKG folder. Enter the OperatorPKG folder and look for a file named "config_operator.txt" (without the quotes).
Mine looks like this:
LOCK:Enabled
TSK: \WINDOWS\Htc.tsk
CAB: \WINDOWS\AMfix.cab
XML: \WINDOWS\Menu_Operation.xml
CAB: \WINDOWS\fixyoutube.cab
CFG: \WINDOWS\config_PT.txt
I'm positive yours will look different. Pay attention to the "CAB: \WINDOWS\"insert CAB file name here"
What you are going to do is take that weather CAB for manila and put it in the OperatorPKG folder. Now go in the "config_operator.txt" and add this string:
CAB: \WINDOWS\"name of the cab file you just put in the OperatorPKG folder, INCLUDING the .cab extension (ex: M2Dhomeweather.cab)"
After cooking and flashing the ROM and setting up your device it will auto install that CAB and you should be set to go.
Now once you tell me the baseROM you are using I can tell you what is mostly junk in the OEM folders you have.
Also in case you are curious.
In the "config_operator.txt"
A "TSK" represents a theme and will make the device load a certain theme.
A "CAB" (obviously) represents a CAB file and will auto-install the CAB file.
A "CFG" represents the next config.txt file and tells the device to look at that config file next.. There are 4 total in all used for different purposes but they all do the same thing more or less. In the "config_operator.txt" ALWAYS make sure the
CFG: \WINDOWS\config_PT.txt
string goes last. It will skip anything else after itself if you do not have it as the last string.
P.S. - Always get an opinion from more than one person
Using the above process you will be using 2x the amount of space .cab & install
Also when things are cooked in they are faster accessible than via .cab install.
Regards removal of OEM/SYS a very good guide

kaiser:
well, first off, i'm using the HyperDragon IV as my base ROM. it's the only one i can find that actually has the weather on the home screen. i love the ROM, don't get me wrong, but it just has a lot of extra stuff in it that i don't need, and i'd like to have that storage space. this ROM actually has the home weather already built in. updates automatically according to the GPS (i'm assuming since it always displays the weather for the city i'm currently in). very handy for taking a quick look rather than having to press any buttons (i'm one of those "no phone while driving" people). however, when i add the Blue Galaxy theme to it, it changes the clock and takes away the home screen weather. i'm very new to this rom cooking business, ie: all i know is what i've either taught myself or looked up on XDA, so i have no idea how to make packages from cabs or anything like that. but reading above about where to put the cabs to auto install with the new rom doesn't seem too difficult. i can visualize it in my head (i spent QUITE A WHILE looking at those files yesterday! haha!). the HyperDragon IV rom is about 110 MB, and it moves a bit slow, but that is my ONLY complaint about it. i'd like to get to the point of being able to build a rom from scratch, but i think breaking one down and rebuilding it to my liking is a better starting point. i'm checking into taking some classes on it. i really enjoy working on my phone and i think if i had some formal training on it, it could be something that i LOVE to do. i just have no grasp of the technical jargin used, so sometimes i'll find a post pertaining to the topic i'm looking for, but i get lost in trying to understand some of them, you know? same thing with cars: i can work on them all day, but i have no idea what most of the parts are even called, much less what they do. i actually have 2 Tilts (my wife thought it was too complicated and got a different one), so i use one to practice on and check out new roms, and the other for everyday use. last night i installed the Hyperdragon IV rom on the extra and printed out the HTCHomeSettings file (with home screen weather) and printed the HTCHomeSettings file from my regular use phone (Blue Galaxy theme installed so no more home screen weather) and was getting ready to print them out and compare the differences between the two. just out of curiosity, would that have done me any good?
Off-hand question: NRH, is that North Richland Hills? if so, nice to see a fellow Texan! i live in Arlington, born and raised.
Stylez:
yeah, that's what i understand. phone operation is much quicker when software is built into the rom. thanks for the link. i was looking for something along those lines yesterday, just couldn't find it. i appreciate it. i've actually looked up A LOT of usefull info that you've posted on here, so thanks for the knowledge as well!

thank you, thank you, thank you sir! i actually posted a request last week for suggestions on a more beginner level user friendly kitchen, but got not a single response (last i checked). that's exactly what i was looking for: something where i can just check what i do and don't want. i was using PPCKitchen at first, but after cooking 3 roms that were just as big as HyperDragon IV (110+ MB) the program started giving me error messages. the frustrating part was that it wouldn't give me errors until it was almost done building the rom. that's quite a while to wait and quite a bit of time (by my standards) wasted to find out that the program isn't going to produce anything! so thanks for the suggestion. i'm going to go search for and download it right now.
To All:
thanks again for the help and advice. you guys are life savers! i can usually figure things out on my own. i like to think i'm smarter than the average bear. but sometimes i just need to be pointed in the right direction, or have things translated from technical jargin to layman's terms. i appreciate yall taking the time to help me and answer my questions. it's nice to see that there are still people in the world willing to help complete strangers. so thanks again guys! i'm sure i'll probably have more questions arise, so i'll probably be posting those as well. i try not to post anything that has already been answered, but sometimes i can seem to find exactly what i'm looking for, even if it is posted already. there is A LOT of info on XDA, but that's a good thing, or a GREAT thing i should say.
Kaiser:
by the way. i'm looking to cook a WM 6.1 ROM with:
blue galaxy theme, but with weather on the home screen, of course
bluetooth function
data connection auto config
manila 2d (dont need the customizer)
quick menu
quick gps
google maps
kaiser tweak
S2U2
BT enabled voice command
BTAudio Toggle (not the btaudio on/off but the toggler button that has the little headphones on the icon)
smartphone tracker
activesync
camera
opera 9.5
***prefer but don't have to have:
volume control, the one that is all black with the white volume bars running up and the vibrate and silent buttons directly underneath
there is also a contacts list that matches the above volume controls, black background with scrolling
wow! that actually looks like a lot now that i've written it out! i actually have all the cabs for the above mentioned items (except camer, activsync, volume controls and contacts list). i also have the cab for manila 2d with the weather on the home screen, but i haven't been successful in installing it WITH the home screen weather working, or even on the screen. i believe it's actually an add on. it's not the full manila 2d, just suppoesed to replace the clock with the flipping clock and add the weather under the clock (which it doesn't seem to do), so i think it may be about useless.
that's really about all i want in the rom. i'll most likely be using the HyperDragon IV rom as my base rom, since it already has the home weather. after that (and some more practice) i may try to learn how to take another lite or naked rom and add the home weather clock to it with manila. that's my goal anyway, to learn how to add it to a rom that doesn't already have it or manila. well, i'm off to download and check out that other kitchen. thanks again for the willingness to help me!
You should probably ask the chef of this ROM for help I'm sure they would be more than happy to help you. They would know about everything in the ROM and would be able to help you the most. If not then I'll download Hyperdragon and look at it in the kitchen.
@off-hand question - yup.
kaiser:
well, i think i'm going to download a stock WM 6.1 rom to practice on first. i'll see if i can't get in contact with the chef in the mean time. i got it off of the Sakajati website. not sure if that's going to make any difference in contacting the chef, but i'll see how it pans out. thanks again for your help.
