i installed a mp3 player on my xda and it didn't work so i uninstalled it, i lost the file associations of my audio files to media player.. how will i get it back?
u aint gonna get it back! bwahahahah
my windows media player won't play *.mp4 files anymore.
it used to play them without any problems just click on the file and it will play.
now when I click on the file, it gives me an error; cannot play the file.
However, if I go to the library of WMP, it will play ok.
now the other problem is whenever I play any movie, not all of them will play in landscape although it used to play all of them in landscape
please help
You need to fix the file association for .mp4's. You must've messed it up somehow. You can do it with extended file explorer or total commander.
Hi,
Does someone know if it is possible to stream videos over SMB to/from Captivate?
Is there some app for it?

I'm using Astro File Manager w/ Astro File Manager - SMB Module to access my Windows machine.
It works out pretty well...
Cool. I will try it! Thanks

If you have windows 7, you can turn on media streaming under the sharing and network center and use AllShare to connect.
I have not tried yet, but i have done this with other DLNA devices.
Estrongs file manager works really good. The only problem there is no video player that can play .avi files. At least I can't find one.

Some of my .avi's work, and some don't. Could it be because of length? Boondock Saints II will play, but Alice in Wonderland will not, both .avis.

Avi is only a container not a format. Most players will only play certain formats at certain bit rates on mobile devices.
If a movie you really want to watch will not play you will have to re-encode it to the correct format before it will work.
example: both divx and xvid are both typically .avi files, but two different formats. If the player supports one but not the other then only some of your avi files will play.
I've installed Rock(divx)Player (non-market app) and at least I can play some of .avi files from sdcard that I couldn't play before. You can get it here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?enolzhkrmmy - just use adb install to sideload it
I've been trying for days to rip a cd in AAC format. I get the error above when I try to play the file. I ripped the cd with winamp pro (what I always use) and put the audio file on my external sd card. I've tried playing with the encoding bit rates - doesn't matter. Strangely the music player shows the Artist and Song Title - just doesn't play. In landscape mode selecting the same file gives me a unsupported file type error.
Anyone?
Strange, I get no errors with aac.

is there any way to play a video, but only take the audio, so the screen doesn't stay on, and it's just like an mp3? or do i just have to convert it?
Covert it.!? I use tubemate. Coverts to mp3 n saves to correct folder with 2 clicks.
