I am wondering if anyone has seen this problem. I had tom tom nav 3 with bluetooth gps using Fortuna GPS Clip On. When i upgraded to an XDAIIi i have found that the serial port connection drops after about 10 mins of use using tom tom, any fixes going around?
Also i noticed on here someone was having problems setting the baud rate on the New version of Tom Tom Nav 5, to set this in GPS Settings select Other Cable NMEA GPS, select your baud rate and then select your com port. (Noticed that the dropout still happens on new version of Tom Tom which i upgraded to yesterday)

I have bought a Falcom Navi 1 BT GPS receiver to use with my xda2 (O2 rom 1.72.187) and Destinator 3. I have also downloaded the Dell axim bt patch and have set it to COM 0. When opening the Destinator sometimes the GPS is found, but most of the times it is not! The receiver is correctly set in the Destinator program at com 0. Anyone had this sort of problems before?
BTW, I have also tried the old Bluetooth tools as well with no result.
please help.

Hi I have experienced the same problems with Falcom Navi 1 BT GPS and HandyMap 2004. My solution was GPSGate from www.franson.biz

GPSGate didn't work either. Also tried the pocket bluetooth tools, but this sets the bt gps at com7 which Destinator does not see. Any more ideas guys?
I can strongly reccomend upgrading to WM2005 it works like a charm

I got tomtom 5 - whooppee. Was using 3 before.
Installed etc fine.
I cant get it to talk to the GPS. i have tried the diffreent settings for baud rate and comm, but do not know how to select the correct baud and comm.
i emailed Tomtom over a WEEK ago, once people are paid they do not want to know u!
I have an XDA2 ROM version: 1.66.00wwe and radio version: 1.10.00
and have a Haicom HI-204E GPS wired reciever
Which options do i select for baud and comms? How do i know which comm to select?

Make sure that beams is unchecked under settings/connections, your gps will use com 1 and 4800. If there is an option for tomtom wired gps this should also work.

Just recently purchased an Imate SP5 and TT5 Mobile. Both work really well with the Tomtom GPS unit.
I also have a Syson Sirf III unit, and I cannot manage to make it work with TT5. I've tried selecting "other Bluetooth GPS" in Tomtom settings with no luck at all.
Can anybody please help me???
Why don't you want to use the Tomtom GPS?
Don't use Other Bluetooth...
I assume that you know what COM port your GPS is accessible on, and what the speed is (presumably 38400). Use the Serial NMEA selection and then set the appropriate baud rate and choose the port. That usually works more reliably.

It's not that I don't want to use tomtom's GPS. I have two cars and I want to have a GPS installed in each car to the cigarrete lighter, so that I don't have to take the GPS unit with me every time (most of the time I forget).
As to NMEA selection, the Tomtom5 version for smartphone only lets you choose Tomtom GPS receive or Other GPS receiver. Period. No "other NMEA GPS" and then select the baud rate like in the PocketPC version.
I think that you can only use one GPS in your mobil phone, cause the first one you have paired is using the incoming com port, and the second one can´t reach that port becouse it is asociated with the first one.
I can´t use 2 identical GPS units in my C500. Only the first one that i have paired works.
..but maybe there is a solution for this.

I have just installed TomTom for my phone, installed perfect, however i am having problems getting a GPS Signal (minor issue!)
I have 4 options of GPS receiver when i set the software up, two are bluetooth ones and two are wired ones. However, am i right in thinking that the xda serra (htc touch pro basically) has a gps receiver built in?
Can anyone point me in the right direction...I have set the baud rate to 4800 (default?) and told the tomtom software and the phone to use COM4.

I had same problem with my Fuze (Touch Pro). What I did was disable aGPS (it is in your settings-system-AGPS, both tabs set to disable) Baud rate was set at 38400 and com port 4.
I also tried to use Bluetooth GPS receiver and I got an option on Tomtom to use built-in GPS receiver. After that - no problems. I read quite a bit on xda-developers about it and have not seen anything as simple - reflashing radio etc - sounds to invasive with a risk of turning a nice neew phone into paperweight.

To find out what settings your Orbit's GPS is using and also to check it works at all, download GPSTest. This will scan your device for it's GPS chip and then attempt to get a fix on available satellites.

From memory it was com4: 9600 then stand at the window for a few minutes until it gets a fix. While you are waiting if you go back into the gps settings you should see if any satellites are seen (grey bars) and locked onto (blue bars)

Hi,
In your phone settings you should set the External GPS applet to have HW = com8 ; SW = com6
In TomTom choose 'Other NMEA' set baud-rate to 115200, com = 6...
First fix might take some time.
