I have been having this strange problem of my eten m500 going to sleep and requiring a hard reset to wake up once a week.Normally this happens on fridays/saturday/sundays.
when i urgraded the rom it didnt sleep for a good 15 days but again the problem has started.
Any thoughts as to what the problem could be?
You might find the answer in this thread.

Hi all,
The backlight of my SP5m (WM6 perfect ed.) turns off after 5-7 seconds no matter what values I set. I've tried many different places to modify this value but none of them worked. Which registry settings should I add/modify? Could it be related to the LowLight software that dim the screen? This one also seems to act a little special after "some" reboots?!
Any help would be appreciated before an hard-reset...
Thank you for your time,

That's right. This forum is full of information. Did you even do a search before posting a new topic?
Yes, I sure did search through the forums and didn't found that exact thread that you guys now refer to, which is very similar to what I'm experiencing actually. All other posts were not describing my actual problem.
And for your information, that value was set to '1' on my phone and not '3 or 4'. I've set it back to '0', now let's see if that solves it, hopefully yes
Thank you all for your time,

Partial Fix...
On my "upgraded" WM 6.5 Tornado, I found another registry entry I haven't read about, ever. Try modifying this:
HKLM\Software\HTC\KEYPAD KB_LIGHT_TIMEOUT DWORD Value data 30000
30000 is 30 seconds. Now, the only problem here is when I keylock, u guessed it, the backlight on the keypad stays on for the same specified time.
I have two big problems with this rom:
1. When I open some text message, it is scrolled on the end of the message. It really bad, because etc. If you use right/left for moving between SMS, you see only "blank" screen and you must scroll up.
2. When I turn screen landscape, there is scroll bar. And when I turn it back (to portrait), there will stay gray line on the right side (where was scrollbar)
And one other problem: I had radio 1.64.06.04 and I hadnt problems with GPS. I tried many radios without hardreset and now I cans fix my position. All satellites are red. Can someone help me? If not, whitch program do you use for backuping your PDA (registry, programs, settings). Thank you

I will not answer this question because you did place this in the correct thread. Please post threads like this pertaining to certain ROM's in the correct area. Thank you.
1.) This has been answered numerous times
2.) I bet you didn't hard reset after you flashed the ROM did you.

I am discovering a problem with my o2 Orbit2 (HTC Touch Cruise / Polaris) which I couldn't find here in the forum:
Aprox. every 5 days my Orbit 2 hangs up, when its in standby mode. It doesn't matter if it goes to standby by itself or if I push the power button to do so. When i want to turn it back on again it doesn't respond and the screen stays black, but I still can see the LED on top flashing. If I call my own number from another phone, I can here that there's a line put the orbit doesn't do anything. So I'm missing all calls and am not getting a missed call information after the softreset I will have to do to get it back to life.
This problem is not depending on the battery status and I usually don't have any progs running in backround.
After the softrest everything is fine for the next days, but I still don't know since when it hang and what I've missed during that time.
Does anybody know this problem or may even have a solution?
Many thanks
MSG
Ohh my GOD !
I was hoping these kinds of problem to be fixed by MS on 6.0 version . . .
Because i have had your identical problem on a Win Mobile 5.0 MIO A501 that has been sold and i am happy with my new HTC POLARIS wich hasn't at the moment this kind of problem . . . at the moment

If I were you I'd uninstall one-by-one each piece of third party software you've put on there until it stops doing it, then you'll know the culprit.

Hi, you may join this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366558
I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2 where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.
I am posting this because 1) I don't think this issue is specific to one cooked ROM, and 2) despite searching, I can't find a solution.
The issue is that with all of the ROMs I tried that are based on recent AT&T or HTC 6.1 ROMs, the backlight reverts back to 10 seconds. I can change it through Backlight settings to something else, and go back to the control panel a minute later and see it's back to 10 seconds. Very annoying.
I've seen this with a couple of L26 ROMs, the stock AT&T 6.1 ROM, and the HyperDragon III Pro ROM which I am currently using. I see this whether I have S2U2 or not (I am on 1.22b now). My current set-up: HardSPL 3.56, HyperDragon III Pro Sept-17, S2U2 1.22b... but like I said, I don't think it's ROM-specific.
Calling all experts: is there a fix for this? (If you are planning on posting something like "I don't have this problem" or "Change your backlight setting through the control panel", please don't clutter the thread with your post).
Thanks!
I spent a fair bit of time searching this and testing various suggestions that seemed to work for other people, however I was constantly getting the 10-second reversion, plus the even more annoying dimming backlight when locked.
Anyway I posted this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425361
And now after removing the registry 'BatteryTimeout' my backlight is working exactly as I want it - i.e. backlight dims afer 30-seconds regardless of whether it is locked or not, plus when locked the backlight comes on when the screen is tapped.
Now wait for the various replies saying 'use the search'.....
Andy
FWIW, I too had this annoying issue, but found that using ROMeOS roms (last version is 4.6) I don't get this issue. Not sure why or what the chef did to fix it.
The chef has now moved onto the Raphael...so he is not working on his Kaiser roms anymore

Thanks, let's see if it sticks. I've tried quite a few methods I found during my search and those didn't work....
It happened to me also with akadonny's 3.29.DK.10 / SPL 3.56.Hard
I changed SPL in the meantime for a different reason, and I had no backlight issues afterwards, but still I would not link that strictly to SPL cause I changed many other things.
Anyway, I found a power setup that works for me very well:
- for "on battery power" I only use turn off device (uncheck turn off backlight)
- for "on external power" I only use turn off backlight (uncheck turn off device)
P.S. This never happened to me with earlier builds, only with 20748.1.4.0.
Well, the first approach didn't work. I have a setup similar to the previous post, but that hasn't helped. I am on SPL 3.56 Hard. Which SPL did you go back to?
Second approach didn't work either. I see a lot of posts with people reporting the same problem... Has there been a definitive solution?
Im using HyperDragon_III_Omnia_20080818. With this ROM I dont have the issue of the 10 sec backlight. I use Hard SPL 3.29.
Chau Juan
I also have this problem and it is making me sick, at night while in bed I am trying to read an ebook but I have to tap on screen every 10 seconds!!
I am HyperDragon_III_Omnia ROM and I have tried many tweaks no luck.
Edit...
Ok I think the problem is now sorted.
Here's what I did... changed the following registry - HKCU\ControlPanel\BackLight\ACTimeout set the DWORD to 0 and reset the device.
So far it seems to be fine.

Hmmm, I'll try this, thanks. This should be for backlight while connected... but worth a shot. I wonder if HardSPL version makes a difference... I'm on 3.56.
Hellow mates,I have SE Xperia for 2 weeks. After the first week everything was ok,but now i have 1 problem. After i dont use the phone , he is automatically switching to sleep mode(like all Xperia i think) and i push the turning on button (to switch it in work mode) like always, but thoose days when i push the turning on button my phone is starting. It seems he is turning off by himself.I tryed to change the ROM,but i have the same problem with the new ROM.Im using Xperio rom without manila. I searched in the Options menu and found this " Turn off device after 1min is the devise is not in use or something like this and i remove it,but i have the same problem. Can this be fixed somehow ?
PS: Sorry for my English
PS2: Dont blame me,because im new
A bad contact with the battery perhaps? Take out the battery and check if there is dust/something on the golden contacts.
No one blames you .
Thanks for the answert Liveen,i`ll try and post the results.
UPDATE: it seems like the problem is gone for now ^^ I removed some things i Options menu :]
Good to hear .
Excuse me Livven can you give me one an advice.I have Xperio Rom , but is "low-ing" my battery verry fast (half or 1 day). Sometold me to use RMS without manila, but i am wondering what ROM to put for my battery (to recharge it not so many times like twice a day :s). Is manila low-ing battery faster,or no.And if i put manila will my X1 be slower then before :?
