help with simple problem please

On my tmobile uk mda pro(exec) running wm5,were do i find the pim or contacts file to copy to sd card,to save my contacts
Thank you very much
You can find the file pim.vol in the root directory of your device.
Copy it to your SDcard.
To place it back after a clean install, you'll have to rename the clean pim.vol (to pim.old or something) and copy your backup to your root back again. Soft reset and voila.
thank you very much
anyone know which file pim.vol is located pls.sorry but i just cant find the bugger :?

Click to collapse
What do you mean?
There is a file named pim.vol in the root directory of your device.
Open file explorer (on the device), in the top bar select 'my device' (top option), and you will see a file called pim (file explorer on PPCs doesn't sow extensions).
Just copy that to SD.
oddly ive looked there loads of times but lastnight i found it cheers,
i think maybe i was in portrate mode and it was sat at the bottom off screen doh!!
one of those things well sorted now thanks, worked a treat renaming the file and after a hard reset it saved all contacts no problem

Convert outlook.pst to pim.vol

I only "synchronize" in one direction, i.e. from my PC to my i-mate JASJAM. Therefore I don't need the full facilties of ActiveSync, which I have so much trouble with anyway.
All I need is to be able to convert my outlook.pst file to the format of pim.vol which is the corresponding file in the JASJAM.
Is it possible to do this conversion and how can I do it?
I would really like to know that too

Unicode filename and activesync

Is there any way to copy file with Unicode file name over activesync? Activesync doesn't even give an error, it just ignore the file completely. I have some chinese songs that I would like to copy over.
I know I can take out the macro sd, put it in a converter and transfer file over.

Backing up qa_Layouts.dat

Hi, I am new to my omnia, and am wondering how to backup files safely... mainly qa_layouts.dat from the SPB menu 3. I am trying to download some of Mskip's widgets. I am worried I will back it up wrong, and loose it.
Do I just copy and paste the file to my storage (aka storage card), or what?
Please help, thanks!
Also, do I need software to do it? Like SPB backup, or sprites?
qa_layouts.dat is a plain file like any other so just copy it somewhere other than its program directory so that in the event something goes wrong you can just copy it back into place. Doesn't need any extra software, even copy it via ActiveSync back to your PC
Thanks! I'll do this.

[Q] nbf file extension

Im wondering if someone can help me with my backup file which has an .nbf file extension. I use NTI backup to backup my files and save the *.nbf file to my external harddrive. I then re-format my computer. I can no longer access my .nbf file using the NTI backup recovery. Sorry, this is my first time to join a forum since I'm really disperate to recover all my files. Thank you.
i hope somsone can help ^^ i need it too
.nbf are file extensions from BACKUP NOW software.
You probably need to use their software to restore them.
.nbf file extension
Thank you Dark3n for your reply. Yes I did use NTI BACKUP NOW to backup all my files that is why I got this *.nbf file extension. The problem is I save all my .nbf files in my external harddrive and format my computer. I installed the NTI BACKUP NOW software again once I've done formatting my pc and then when I tried to retrieved my file through BACKUP NOW software it can't read my .nbf files. Is there any way I can extract the .nbf files? Thank you.
