Hi, I'm a new user. I've searcehd on here fro entries on this but can't locate anyhting relevant. I was hoping that setting an appontment's status to "private" would let me distinguish between work-related things and family commitments. There's nothing in the wholly inadequate O2 manual so far as I can see. Can anyone enlighten me on the possibility of automatically hiding personal appointments?
Many thanks
Jim
Using the default appointment program provided by MS there is no way to filter them as you require...but you can categorise the appointments (and create new ones if the names do not suit you).
If you wish to have more advanced features, may I suggest something like Pocket Informant 2005 or PocketBreeze...these are more complex than the default MS ones so will take a bit more getting used to, but they do the trick.
Pocket Informant : Click Here
PocketBreeze: Click Here

Simple request
Does anybody know of a simple utility that can incorporate Tasks into Pocket Outlook. Tasks then will be intergrated into the calander and will use the appointment screen to set a task. Also this utility should manage to display a full weeks appointments and task in sequence - not seperated.
Thanks in anticipation

There's a free today screen plugin that shows combined tasks and appointments...
http://tiews.info/index.php?show=software/todayagenda
I've given up on it for now but it seemed to work ok. Not as advanced as other plugins like PocketBreeze but much lower overhead associated with using it.
Have reverted back to standard plugins even though they are pretty pathetic since the plugin didn't seem to cope with orientation switching too well - an annoyance when using it with a device with a slide out landscape keyboard.
PocketBreeze for Me!!
I can't comment on TodayAgenda, as I've never tried it. I found it on these forums after purchasing PocketBreeze. But, from everything I've read about it on that thread, it's a very good program.
However, I WILL say that I LOVE PocketBreeze, and it would be virtually impossible (IMO) to find anything that even comes close. It does exactly what the OP wanted, plus more. It's the only plugin I use on my Today Screen, and it allows for Custom tabs to be set for other plugins, as well. So, I have iLauncher, Pocket Weather and Spb Time integrated into PB as custom tabs and from that can access virtually everything on my Wizard from the Today Screen through Pocket Breeze.
There's a 14 day free trial period, but I was sold on it after only 3 days and bought it. Others may have different views, but for me -- it's the BEST!!
I've use both todayAgenda and pocketbreeze. For the price of todayAgenda, there isnt really much to 'complain' about, other than the fact that, it doesn't display tomorrow as 'Tomorrow', which is quite annoying (that it lowered the importances of the task/schedule).
Anyway, I'm using pBreeze now and no complain so far. It is highly customizable which others may find annoying, but if you want to have full control on your display, go for it. I so wish I get commission for selling this software
Check new todayAgenda 0.95 beta and check spbDiary with better phone contacts handling (hardware keyboard) than pocketBreeze.
Thanks everybody.
TodayAgenda works well for me. Exactly what I wanted.

I've been searching for a good PIM software forever. I loved the PIM software that came with the PalmOS. Since changed to Windows Mobile, I have not found one that can match up with the native Palm PIM. I am not looking for much. All I want, is simple "search" function added to the Calendar and Task (todo) programs that comes with Windows Mobile 6.1. Is that too much to ask for?
All the commercial software packages I've tried, either, too slow, use up too much memory, not hooked up with Windows Mobile environment well, or all of the above.
Any suggestions! thanks very much!
Yes, me too. Since my Psion revo, I've not found anything similar. The one thing I miss is multiple diaries. With WM6 everything has to be on one diary. I would like to seperate my work and personal diaries (without use of 'categories'). I've looked and looked. Everything seems to be simply a 'front end' to the WM one, but nothing unique.
I had a great plug in on my PalmV that gave me a week view of my calendar on the screen just like a paper diary, why has no-one done this for the Pocket PC?

anyone know of real PIM s/w. not just a today front-end, but something that has it's own database/sync?

Hi folks,
I searched an hour and couldn't find anything: I want to be able to (easily) switch the today screen calendar to:
A) only show private meetings
B) show all meetings
The Nokia N70 does this nicely but I couldn't find any WM software to do the trick. I own a Nike with WM 6.1 btw.
The reason for my request is, that on weekens I would like to be spared with being reminded of meetings next week at the office - improving my work-life-balance ;-)
Anyone know of a solution?
Thanks & Best regards,
p0lDi
This is a wonderful option to be implemented into poutlook. I know you can filter your appointments by categories rather than by status.. so i assume that if you're willing to accept this it would not be that hard to write a quick script which switches between filters.
do you think that would be enough?
not sure - I would assume that the filter is not applied to the today screen, or is it? Also I use categories for other things already... But maybe I just got you wrong ;-)
Well, i assume that to filter to the today screen you'd need a seperate application... but i'm not sure.
The windows today plugin is indeed very basic with only few to no options.
You'll need a separate today plugin like SPB Diary or WebIS Pocket Informant.
I'm sure there are lits more.
Hi,
I actually have a Polaris Touch Crusie (the first one) and am running a nonstandard operating system.
I have been looking on and off for months, and all i basically want, is the color categories in wm6.1 calander to show up, that i have set on desktop outlook 2007. My search fu may not be the greatest, but i have tried google many times, and i personally do not have to the time to go thru the entire xda forums and every thread. I really can't seem to find anything.
I really don't want to go the hassle of a completely different calendar program on the PDA, because i am so intergrated with Outlook 2007. I really don't want to mess up my outlook integration and deal with a bunch of work arounds if possible.
Are colors on the calandar, by chance part of wm6.5? anyone got anything. Is there a registry hack to do this (add color cats to wm6.1)?
Could the be done with a some hack (or code mod) to basic calander, and pasted into a custom rom from someone else, then loaded with a kitchen program, i think? (i hope that was the right phrasing)
anyone got any advice or help?
Thanks
Lol, you want an answer but dont have time to search for one hence asking (joke)
Anyway, basically this cannot be done using 6.1,6.5 ms calender app. If you want this function there are 3rd party apps that can show calender categories and that intergrate quite well.
Our devices have to restrict functionality of their desktop equivilents due to storage and processing restrictions, otherwise they just wouldnt run on a pocket device (hence the phrase)
Cheers.
Need help. I'm having problems making/receiving calls on my Tilt 2 and I'm thinking of upgrading. I am having a lot of problems just finding answers to some basic questions about the options available. Being a long time user of Win Mobile, I'm leaning to the WP7. Some questions that I have are:
1. Text entry. Sliding keyboard aside (I'm thinking of the Samsung Focus) is there a transcriber program? I take notes during meetings, etc., and presently either use the keyboard on the Tilt, or a 'Phatware' transcriber program.
2. Backward compatability. Will WM6.5 aps work on the new WP7? Programs like eReader, Laridian Books, Platware, etc.?
3. Is there the ability to import a Contact to a new appointment on the Calendar? Not being able to do this on the Tilt 2 has been a real pain!
4. Is there a stylis?
5. Can you watch a missed TV show from CBS, A&E, or Fox.com?
As I said, these are simple (hopefully, not stupid) questions, and thanks for what ever help or opinions are offered.
1. Microsoft OneNote to take notes. There is no handwritting recognition, just virtual keyboard (for Focus).
2. No.
3. ?
4. No.
5. Several 3rd party apps are either available or in development to watch TV shows and old seasons.
3. The calender provides the option to specify required and optional attendees for an appointment if this is what you mean.
Is the OneNote the only application? I was under the impression that Office was included, which has Word and Excel.
Also, there is some confussion about what I ment with question #3. On my Tilt 2, when creating a new appointment, there is no way to pull a name off of my Contacts list. I have to re-type the name as a new appointment, with no cross link. This has always been a real pain, and something that I can not understand why a business friendly platform can't do. In the original Tilt, you could pull up a Contact, and had a menu function that would allow you to create an new appointment with that contact, but not with the Tilt 2. This is something so simple that even my old Palm M100 would do.
An observation, it certainly appears that all platforms are full of bells and whistles, while leaving the solid old PIM functions out. Maybe I need to go back to my Franklin Planner, and a simple flip phone......
Thanks for the info. From what it sounds like, I won't be going to WP7. I'll have to look at the android/iPhone, to see if one of them will work for me.
Thanks again....

android and iphone will be the same as wp7 in all those aspects.
the only advantage goes to android which can watch those tv shows (android has flash) but wp7 will be getting flash soon too, so it will be able to soon. iphone will never have flash.
