Hi all,
I've just stumbled across the site by accident and like what I've found
My question(s): Is there any difference between the Blue Angel devices offered by the UK networks? I'm on the verge of buying a nice new XDA / SPV / MDA but am unsure if the specs are different between the different flavours. There's not much to choose between the contract & call charges either, so do any of the networks come out on top of their rivals with regard to support and updates for their devices? Finally, can these things be "unlocked" to other networks like standard phones?
Apologies if these are common questions, I've had a quick search through the site and couldn't find definative answers or more likely I didn't understand the answers, being a newby!
Cheers,

Hi,
I made a search on the website and couldn't find anything related to the question abve. I am wondering why HTC is developing two band HSDPA devices as opposed to triband ones? It makes sense to have them world phone and not targeting certain areas!!! anyone can help on this. I sincerely apologize if this was discussed but I couldn't find anything about it. If it has been discussed, I apologize for doubling the effort/.
Thanks,
Gilbert
A reason why - this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands
Hi. Many thanks for your reply. I saw the chart but since I am not a techy, are you able to please tell me plain English what this all means? If I get it right, I see comapnies producing devices that are worldwide HSDPA ready but for some reason, HTC has been developing their recent devices to be targetted HSDPA. I know the chart explains the difference in frequency but why can't they cater to all of the bands in one device? Kaiser was worldwide for example. hwat happened apart from the introduction of 1700 band?
Thanks,
Gilbert
it' all about greed!
they want to sell it wholesale to bestbuy or wireless carriers and to make them happy!
Yes I think so. But can you image what a killer phone the HTC HD would be (the new one with a long screen similar to the iphone screen) with quad or tri band hsdpa!! these people at htc are really dumb to think narrow. In my opinion, even if i was living in Asia or Europe and I travel alot I would have a hesitation to buy it when I cannot make use of the technology when I am in USA or Canada. Simply not business friendly.

i lost all interests on touch hd after they annonced with no usa 3g! buy sony x1 !
htc wont give u everything at once! else what they have left to sell you in the future?
Hey guys! I'm new here and searched this topic, but haven't found an answer. It's just a general question that would also help other users who like the iPhone, but have a different carrier. My question is, Will the iPhone (possibly 5) ever be released on T-Mobile (includes any other US carrier)? I'm just wondering because it would be nice if iOS finally made it to other US carriers. Thanks guys
Hi there,
I'm interested in buying a HTC One S and I'm seeing European versions Z520e (S4 Ville) and Canadian Z520m which are on the Rogers network.
I've had a quick look at the Wiki for it and can see that the UMTS versions are different, but are there any other differences I should be aware of, e.g. Hardware or network branding, etc. that people have come across over time ? As for the UMTS, I intend to be in Europe most of the time but will be travelling to New Zealand & the U.S., so which version should I look out for ?
I don't want to pull the trigger on a purchase only to find that I've been stuffed some way or other as it's a lot of money to spend, so I'd appreciate any advice from this forum from people in the know...
Thanks,
Ed
Did you ever find out the difference and get an answer?
I would also like to know this :/
Hey there, people.
I am trying to identify the cellphone bands available in my country. Unfortunately, both documentation and support in this country is POOR. There is no official data, and to have an agent answer your technical question you would have to corner him in a dark alley at night.
Researching on this, I found the following post:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=28644
And, that is pretty useful... Unfortunately I dont have any android samsung right here right now. Just an omnia II and an xperia pro, and several feature phones.
Ideas? Suggestions? I am all ears!
Ill keep researching on my own beside asking here. Let's see who wins!
I need a Phablet or Tablet or Phone that is at least 8" running the most up to date Android possible.
I have made a couple of expensive mistakes in purchasing 4G/LTE tablets that I thought could be used as a phone also.
The latest being the Nvidia Shield. Got one for sale. never used!
I know I can run VOIP on LTE tablets but that isn't what I'm looking for.
I live in Canada and I travel to the USA almost daily. I drive a transport truck and I NEED up to date traffic info so I don't get stuck in 4 hour traffic jams BUT I also need to text and phone back to Canada. Currently I am using the new PadFone S. Great idea but it doesn't receive on the ONE frequency I need to be able to get a continent wide carrier plan that won't put me in the poor house. I currently have Bell Mobility and a T-Mobile sim I have to change every time I cross the border.
Wind Mobile has an unlimited Talk Text Data plan for Canada/USA that is $60 a month. That hits my sweet spot. Currently the other 2 plans are costing me $115. Wind in Canada needs to run on the 1700 band for now. It may change in the future but I can't wait.
My searching is getting me a lot of results but a lot of time I see the tablets do not allow the phone function or are dated 2 years ago.
Maybe I'm spoilt but my TF101 is running Lollipop and I love it.
Soooo I'm turning to learned friends. I Like to play around with anything I own be it cars or electronics but I don`t have the time at a desk to research this more.
Any ideas?

Thank you.
I have seen that thread and went through it but none of the answers actual fit my needs. Lots of different phones but no specifics and I`d have to research each one again.
I`m hoping someone who reads my OP will go " I know exactly what he needs" There can`t be too many of them.
As an aside, Why are all the LTE tablets Data only? Is there a big difference in the hardware required to offer Voice too? Or is it just the Firmware?
You can ask in the thread. That's what it's for.
This isn't the place for such discussion. ?
