i just been told that if you Text the word "Text" to 1122 on any orange handset or any unlocked phone YOU receive text saying (Hello from orange: Thanks! We will send you a text when your 30 free texts have been applied.Have fun and get texting!)
Tested? :?: Yes it works.
Enjoy- something for nothing :!:
This is nothing new. It's part of the Orange 'Try' promotion, yes you get 30 free texts, but only for the first month - if you don't cancel it after the first month, you get billed for this bundle every month.

Hi,
I have ATT Pay as you GO service. Its basically a prepaid plan and they send these VERY annoying messages to your phone every time some money is deducted from your plan (eg: phone call, text message, etc) to update you on your current balance. Does anyone know of a way to stop these messages? Its very annoying to get a text message and receive the message from ATT stating your balance and then receive the SMS. on the Cingular 8525 it makes a sound EVERY time that message from ATT arrives. So, I hear a sound which indicates a message from Cingular has arrived then .2 seconds later another sound stating a text message has arrived. There is no way to stop this sound either on the 8525. Any ideas guys? Thanks in advance!
Does anyone know for sure if outgoing emails count as text messages or just go against your data plan for ATT.
The reason being is that many people like myself have unlimited data, but not unlimited text messages (att is retarded when it comes to certain phones and the price of text plans - I refuse to pay more than anyone else with a different phone). Well long story short is that if you send an outgoing email to [email protected] for example (each carrier has its own address) it is received on the phone as a text message.
So will this count towards text messages or data?

emails will count as data, as you require a data account to send and receive from your mail provider.
As for [email protected] if it works like an email address, and you're sending your email through poutlook, I would presume that it will still be considered as data.
hey xda,
Just picked up an ATT HOX and noticed outbound texts don't seem to working.
I know there is a report for inbound text message notifications, but this one seems to be new.
Anybody else seeing similar issues? Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I am having a problem where about 20% of my MMS messages don't go through.. I have to go into the sms app and click resend and then they go through.
When I picked up the phone I had the same problem. I had to change from the non-LTE data plan to the LTE plan when I activated the phone. When I called tech support after realizing I wasnt getting messages it took her about 20 minutes of trying different things to ask if I had text messaging in my plan. I said of course, and she said it was not shown in my current services. After putting that back on the plan, it worked like a charm. Not sure why it got dropped when nothing else was to be changed on my plan. You might want to double check your plan.
Hrm... thanks for the replies! I'll look into those suggestions.
Right now the phone can receive, just not send SMS. It's supposed to have a text plan, but i'll verify that with ATT.
Even if it didn't have a text plan though, isn't ATT's default behavior to still send the text message and charge the ad hoc rate per message?

I thought so too, but when I asked they said I wouldnt be able to send messages without it on my plan...
Ok Ive alwaysssssssss had this problem since I bought this phone and never asked for help but its bugging me now and I want to get it fixed. If I send a text message which falls under the character limit everyone gets them just fine. But as soon as I exceed the limit that it has to send 2 texts no one receives the 2nd text. I even did a test and went 1 character over the limit the other person reported that they were missing the last letter in the text. I have checked my settings it says that any txt exceeding 3 messages will be converted to an MMS. I disabled this feature, I still have this problem. I set it to 5 msg limit to send as mms, still same problem. Its really annoying because I have free txts with my provider so I can send as many as I want but no idea why I cant send long txts. any my friends are on the same provider and they send me long txts and i get them fine. Ive gotten others to send long txts to the same friends they get em fine. its just my msgs that people cannot get from me. My phone provider is vodafone australia if that matters

I think some roms had something along the lines of split settings in the messaging app. Maybe it had something to do with that?
What rom are you running?

Starting two days ago I'm receiving text messages late. For example, let's say it's 12:30. I'll get a text and the time indicator will say 11:59 or something, which would usually be the time I'd receive the text. I'd send a text to that person at say 11:57 and thirty minutes later I'd get their text from two minutes after I sent mine. I hope it's a sprint thing it my area. However if I update my PRL the texts come right after I update it. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Sometimes it takes forever for my texts to send.
Probably a problem with the Sprint network due to maintenance, outage, or something else. This happened to me a couple times last week but things went back to normal after a day or two.

First i would try going to your settings and scroll all the way down until you see system update. Update profile and prl and that should fix the issue. Another way of doing this same update is by going to your dial pad and key in ##update#
I downloaded messenger By : Google on the Google Play store. It seemed to help out a lot more.
