Ok Ive alwaysssssssss had this problem since I bought this phone and never asked for help but its bugging me now and I want to get it fixed. If I send a text message which falls under the character limit everyone gets them just fine. But as soon as I exceed the limit that it has to send 2 texts no one receives the 2nd text. I even did a test and went 1 character over the limit the other person reported that they were missing the last letter in the text. I have checked my settings it says that any txt exceeding 3 messages will be converted to an MMS. I disabled this feature, I still have this problem. I set it to 5 msg limit to send as mms, still same problem. Its really annoying because I have free txts with my provider so I can send as many as I want but no idea why I cant send long txts. any my friends are on the same provider and they send me long txts and i get them fine. Ive gotten others to send long txts to the same friends they get em fine. its just my msgs that people cannot get from me. My phone provider is vodafone australia if that matters

I think some roms had something along the lines of split settings in the messaging app. Maybe it had something to do with that?
What rom are you running?
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using xda app-developers app
im running CM9 R8

My device is running WM6.
I don't send MMS often, but I've noticed that I can no longer send or receive MMS messages. They get stuck in my outbox or come in with a message saying they can't be downloaded.
When I first got the phone, it worked fine. Now, it tells me that the images are too big to be sent (don't know where the 100k limit came from), even though I only use the cell phone camera to take pics and i have to compress them. After compressing, it still doesn't send.
What should my settings be? Where do I find these settings?
Anyone?
Could I be having this issue because I use the Tmobile $5.99 internet?? If so, can someone tell me what (if anything) I can do to fix it??
I've been using google voice for my text messaging. I've noticed that my standard SMS with ATT is not working for some reason.
I thought it was google voices fault, but my friends vibrant seems okay with both. Is there something wrong with the number I use to retrieve my text messages? It is

Hey,
I was having the same problem and apparently AT&T fails in more ways than imagined.
When I upgraded my phone, they cancelled my messaging package. After logging into the website and adding Text Messaging as a feature for my phone, it started working. This may be the problem you're having.
Good luck!
+1 on SMS issue last to days I haven't been able to receive all my messages even after I clear all threads out. That is without Google Voice.
I can send and receive messages fine, with the exception of two people who apparently haven't been getting my texts. One of them is my wife that is on my family plan. I guess I should check if they fudged something up with her texting.
My girl friend on my family plan with me (who has an iPhone 3Gs) and myself are also having text issues. Some of my texts to her do not arrive, and nearly all of her text to me never reach me. I receive about 1 in 5 texts from her, and she gets about 3 in 5 from me.
The rest of her texts work just fine, and I'm learning today that about half of my texts from other people are apparently not arriving to me as well.
This is obviously *really* bad... it led to her thinking I was blowing her off all day sunday and took a lot of explaining to do on my behalf today, heh.
hey xda,
Just picked up an ATT HOX and noticed outbound texts don't seem to working.
I know there is a report for inbound text message notifications, but this one seems to be new.
Anybody else seeing similar issues? Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I am having a problem where about 20% of my MMS messages don't go through.. I have to go into the sms app and click resend and then they go through.
When I picked up the phone I had the same problem. I had to change from the non-LTE data plan to the LTE plan when I activated the phone. When I called tech support after realizing I wasnt getting messages it took her about 20 minutes of trying different things to ask if I had text messaging in my plan. I said of course, and she said it was not shown in my current services. After putting that back on the plan, it worked like a charm. Not sure why it got dropped when nothing else was to be changed on my plan. You might want to double check your plan.
Hrm... thanks for the replies! I'll look into those suggestions.
Right now the phone can receive, just not send SMS. It's supposed to have a text plan, but i'll verify that with ATT.
Even if it didn't have a text plan though, isn't ATT's default behavior to still send the text message and charge the ad hoc rate per message?

I thought so too, but when I asked they said I wouldnt be able to send messages without it on my plan...
I don't know why my phone is so wacked out...but now I can not send Pics in Text Messages. It trys to send but just gets stuck on "sending". Any suggestions?
Maybe try toggling your data connection off/on. Or, sent out a regular SMS. Sometimes that will help push em thru. I've had issues sometimes where they'll hang like that until I receive a text, then they push thru, but only on certain ROMs.
Hope this helps at all.
sent from 2yr old Evo on ICS
I had the same problem before, then I learned that my data had to be on in order to send or receive messages through text messages. I'm not sure if this is because of my carrier or if that's just how it is.
Won't work over Wifi, which seems kind of silly.
You need to have the data on to send MMS (picture messages) the carriers do not generally count that against the data you use.
On average how long does it take you guys to send a text message? I just sent 2 text messages in a row and it took over 5 minutes for both of them to send. Usually takes over 3 but this one took a little longer. Is anyone else having this problem? I am stock rooted running some xposed mods...
Something ain't right. My texts are going out as they are supposed to: instantly.
Running CleanROM with some extra mods and also Xposed for Sense6 toolbox.
I hate to state the obvious, but do you have a low signal? Are you sending pictures or just plain texts? The only time I experience send times this high is when I have a low signal or am trying to send a text in an unusually crowded area. I am also rooted and running xposed, so unless one of the mods you are using has something to do with texts or signal, I would think it would have to be one of the above.

Im usually on wifi for most part of the day, but my signal is usually good. I get solid 4g. I am mostly just sending plain texts but I did just recently get a new job and apparently it is right next to an at&t tower and I literally don't have service for a full 8 hours. I do use wifi there but i still cant receive text messages. Could that have anything to do with it?

Yeah, unfortunately WiFi won't help you at all with plain text messages. If you have no service there, that would explain the huge send times. With Wi-Fi, you'd be better off to use Facebook Messenger or Google Hangouts data messaging feature instead of texting. Those services use data to send and receive messages so the WiFi would be utilized by them.
