Half a year ago, I upgraded from Qtek 2020 to Qtek 9090 and I was very happy with the Wlan and keyboard, Not the I was using the keyboard mutch.
Now my Qtek 9090 was stolen, and I need a new one, should I go for a Qtek 9090 again, og "downgrade" til Qtek2020i?!?
The things I missed in the Qtek 2020 is in the Qtek 2020i - Wlan and 1,3 Mpixel..
Any advices?
personallly i would go to 2020i with no doubt,, after all u said it urself that u didnt use the keyboard that often,u might miss the additional buttons,,but for me I can live without it,,,,,
How is it a downgrade?
The 2020i is faster, more flash rom storage, better camera, and is a newer device that has far more accessories available for it thanks to being the same form factor as the 2020.
If there was a chance of a WM2005 update, the 2020i would get it, the 9090 would not.
well ok.. It not a downgrade.. Sorry..
But will the accesories from my BlueAngle work on the Alpine/Andes (2020i) Im thinking of my Brodit car active car holder..
The socket on the bottom of the Blue Angle is different to the Himalaya and Alpine, so if it's got a plug in it, it will not fit.
Hmmm...
Well, I was using the things from the Himalaya on the BlueAngle..
I think that everyone is forgotting some things..
1) 9090 is a demo wm2005 device used by microsoft in expos, so there's already wm2005 for it, and not for 2020i
2) They added wireless, 1.3mpx camera, more rom (32MB) and a new processor but forgot to change the battery
I think 9090 is a better choice because it isn't a lousy upgrade to an old platform
The only thing i miss in 9090 is not supporting the vga out sleeve.
Hello,
I want to buy a K-Jam or M600, but which one is the best choice??.
The K-jam is 200mhz, Is it too slow??.
What about the warranty of both smartphones?, Where is the best online shop to buy one??.
I am in USA now, But I am from Costa Rica and I travel a lot, so I need an unlock pda phone with WI-FI.
Do you think is in the market other pda phones better?
Thanks and regards,
Gabriel Porras
avoid imate
from what i read in the various forums, IMATE warranty repairs
are abysmal or simple poor. So you might get more milage
and satisfaction out of the Eten product.
A.
So what do you said is the ETEN M600 is much better than the k-JAM?.

Kjam, eten etc are not the way forward.
This, sir, is the way forward
http://www.theunwired.net/?itemid=2806
there is alot of satisfied kjam user, if you can live with the slight slow device when u ran too much prog but comes with a nice keyboard. personally i use eten m500 which is wm2003se device and that itself is very very fast thanks to the samsung processor, it comes with alot of programs which is only most htc device requires 3rd party to achieve so out of the box its more usable.. eten m600 is same but with wm2005 and wifi so its better.. by far its the most stable wm2005 device and faster as well not mentioning it comes with aku2 which support bluetooth stereo profile with the new upgrade when others dont have yet. so you will get more out of it. i like the kjam factor and would go for it if it comes with m600 feature. but i will stick to my m500 now till newer device come out next yr.
oh yea i forgot abt htc prophet.. it is slightly better since its not too buggy.. but processor still slow. play around wit them 1st before you decide.. borrow from friends that own them so you'll know what to expect since they already got programs installed..
from what i heard M600 is faster than the Kjam and its camera may be better. it also has full SD slot, which gives you 4GB maximum storage, while the miniSD of the Kjam only gives 2GB max. The Eten M600 currently support the A2DP and AVCR bluetooth profiles which allow you to use bluetooth stereo headphones to listen to music.
On the other hand, M600 lacks EDGE, Infra-red, hardware softkeys, and a keyboard. All of these things the Kjam has.
Thanks!!!
What is EDEGE??, Is that important?.
I need the following minimum requirements of M600 (to work in my country)
GSM with phase 2 plus.
1800 mhz
No SIM lock.
ADN – FDN – SDN
SIM 3 v to 5 v
GPRS
900 – 800 – 1900 MHZ (for roaming).
GPRS 4:1
WAP 1.2 2.0.
The M600 has all of this?
So, finally. Do you think the M600 is the best choice?.
Regards to everybody.
Gabriel Porras
yea m600 support four bands, 800,900,1800,1900. no 2100 thou(wcdma/umts)
what is adn, fdn, sdn??
not sure abt wap1.2 or 2.0 as the pocket ie cant run wap site in my country as i told them my m500 is similar to magician, and they say magician(mini) dun support wap?!?!?! i dun believe that thou.. shoul b able to achieve by 3rd party even if you cant use pocket ie. so far i still cant get wap/gprs working on my fone since vodafone aust wont give me the correct settings so cant confirm. thers always wifi on m600 to compensate for that. since m600 is wm5.0 unlike my m500 should be able to if the other wm5.0 is able to use wap and gprs.
m600 is after all a much better upgrade of m500

m600 is muchhhhhh faster than kjam.. it is benchmarked to be around same speed as universal even thou its 416mhz.. mayb cose its samsung processor.. so you shouldnt have problem with slowness.. edge dun really hit in my country so dun need it, i dun even use gprs.. infrared is not needed as my m500 comes with infrared but its not the strong version so cant really use it as remote. hardware softkeys can be assign to any button you want as long you willing to sacrifice the other buttons. keyboard well thats the only pro i see in kjam. lookwise they are both nice.. m600 has the black v3 looks that is quite stylish.. kjam is silver all around and nice too..
M600 is faster, but is better than the k-jam?.
What is EDGE? for what is this?.
What do you mean with soft keys?.
Thanks and Regards,
Gabriel Porras
Do you know what GPRS is? It's being able to connect to the internet from your phone without WiFi. Internet speed with GPRS is like dialup speed. EDGE (also known as EGPRS) in practical life is about 3 times faster than GPRS. Where I live, I can get EDGE connection for 6 US dollars a month, that's why EDGE is important to me.
As for softkeys, it's something that is Windows Mobile 5 related. You know how in the Nokia cellphones you have two buttons that have labels in the screen? For example, in the front screen, when you press that button it takes you to contacts, but once you are in contacts if you press that button again it takes you to search. The button is context sensative and you know what it does by reading the label on the screen. It's called softkey.
So, Microsoft did the same thing with WM5 to reduce stylus and touchscreen dependancy. Now, some WM5 devices come with hardware buttons that are dedicated to those softkeys, and some devices come without them. For those devices that come without the softkey hardware buttons, you can simply click on the softkey with your stylus/finger or, like Cutefox said, you can assign different hardware buttons to the softkeys (i actually never thought about this one before.)
Thanks man for the information.
Now I understand. So the m600 doen´t have any softkey. I´sn´t it?.
Ok. I Think we don´t have edge in my country yet. So I won´t have this problem, jejeje.
Is another PDA phone unlock, better than M600?.
Regards,
Gabriel Porras
??????
you really should base your decision on if you need a keyboard or not
get the k-jam if you plan to do a lot of text messages and so on
get the m600 for all other things that require more power
one isn't better over the other, it just depends on what you plan to use
Thanks a lot for your comments.
When I saw the first time the k-jam I felt in love. But I am worry about the 200mhz. If it is too slow.
I want the pda phone to in contact with my office and customers by email.
We have offices in U.S.A and in Central America. That is why is very important to me be in contact. I need the WI-Fi. But I am worry about the speed.
I had the IPAQ 3955. But I have to carry the pda and the phone. I want one thing all together.
I saw the M600 and I liked to.
So that is my only question?. It´s the M600 very good, is another better?. Imate? k-jam?. You are the experts. Could you tell me??.
Regards for everything.

i have an HTC Wizard and it's a very good device. Today I had to input a lot of appointments in the Calendar while i was out. i was really happy that i had the hardware keyboard to help me conveniently input the texts. i hate having to deal with hand-recognition or little virtual keyboards.
anyway, the 200mhz OMAP processor isn't too bad. Some people are also reporting slowness problems with HTC Universal, which is supposed to be faster. i have encountered slowness problems in the Wizard when i tried to play Worms (or graphic intensive games) and listen to audio files on AudiblePlayer at the same time. Some games (or Audio players) let you adjust the program's priority to the processor. adjusting these options can completely ELIMINATE this problem, which leads me to think that those programs that don't work well, aren't optimized for WM5 in the first place...
And don't forget 200mhz OMAP processor will give you amazing battery life.
I personally think you should go with K-Jam. it's what you first wanted, and it's a good device. just be a little patient if you face problems, WM5 isn't really intuitive.
good luck
Well!!!! what can I tell you!!???
Just thanks to take the time to ask my questions. Thank you very much.
Final question. How about the warrinty, parts, support and other things like that?.
Regards,
Gabriel Porras
another thing i wanted to point out about the 200mhz processor, i think it's dual core, such that one is dedicated to the pda functions and the other to the phone
of course then in pda mode it's still limited to 200mhz
the only major problems with it is if you will multitask a lot
as for warranty, i can't help much there
but support wise, there will be a lot more support for the k-jam since so many people use it
that way when you come to this forum, or another forum, there are a lot of others that have the same device and if you have a problem, likely someone else or a bunch have had it too, which helps since that means there are more people with solutions as well as hacks and so on
Hi,
Please help me choose my next phone.
I currently own Nokia 9300 and I just sold Orange SPV C600/HTC Tornado due to lack of applications. I used to have Cingular 8125/HTC Wizard but I sold it because the signal reception and call quality was poor.
Now I am considering getting XDA Atom or i-Mate Jamin/HTC Prophet as they are similarly priced and have similar specs. I like Atom because it presumably has the faster processor and is 8 grams lighter. I like Jamin because it has a little bit bigger screen, more hardware keys and is sold by more then one company so more choices for ROMs etc.
My questions are:
1. Does Atom have hardware soft keys?
2. Does Atom's processor make a difference?
3. Which phone has better battery?
4. Does Jamin suffer from bad reception and bad call quality ala HTC Wizard? How is Atom in this?
5. Are there any other factors I should consider?
What do you think I should buy? I would be very interested in hearing from people who have had both phones.
I thank you for your time!
Here is what I can tell you based on specs and my experience with the Jamin:
First, no problems during calls on the Jamin.
Second, ATOM does not have hardware soft keys, and I find them very comfortable on the Jamin.
As far as the processor is concerned, there is nothing Jamin can not handle because of speed (video, navigation skype) although some times it needs overclocking.
I tested mine with the free omapclock, and it ran fine at 256MHz.
Other factors to consider:
Jamin is quad band, has WiFi g and BT 2.0 while ATOM is only tri band, has WiFi b and BT 1.2
All in all I am very happy with my Jamin, but this is just one user opinion.
levenum, thanks for your help. I have one more question does Jamin have A2DP? How about with the latest ROMs?
My only concern is signal reception as I had this problem with Wizard. A question to users who have used Wizard and Jamin do you find Jamin gets better reception?
Thanks!

A2DP is implemented in Prophet by installing Tornado A2DP modules (.dll’s and registry entries.) Search the forum to download required files. 2 min. work. Works like a charm! The signal reception is not an issue. Specially with new radio rom 2.31 (look on the ftp for the upgrade) Also you may want to CID unlock your phone for future upgrades and downgrades with cross vendor upgrades. G 3 phones (SPL up to 2. 15.000) are unlocked by “PDAMobiz rom downgrade and unlock” tools. You may want to consider change paging pool size from 12 mb. top 16 mb. to speed up prophet. You’ll notice major speed difference! Search the forum for the directions.
Originally I wanted Atom as well, but I hear about too many problems with this phone. So I’m sticking with prophet. I would recommend reading forum/threads and see what other people are experiencing with these phones and what can/cannot be done with them . Good luck.
I struggled with this exact same question recently...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279061
Those are the problems I have heard of with the Atom and when people who own the Atom tell you to get another phone, I figured that was enough for me and ordered a jammin
Hi,
I was wondering if someone who has an O2 Orbit 2 would read the box it came in, and tell me what the following SAR ratings are.
HEAD SAR =
BODY SAR =
I know that there are some figures bouncing around the net, but they all seem to contradict each other, so that is why I was wondering if someone who actually owns one could quote me from the box or manual.
Thanks
SAR?
Hey Ppl!
The SAR rating which is printed in the German O2 Handbook is shown as 1,72W/kg. There ist no differncing between head and body rating. The same rating is shown on the O2 Internetsite.
Remember, if you have a bad cell the SAR rating rises to the max, in good cells the rating is much less than the max.
Frank
You see I had heard that figure !
...and it is the figure which is printed on the O2 UK website but I don't know whether this is just an outrageously high SAR rating, or whether it is misreporting, i.e. a 'combined' SAR rating
i.e.
HEAD SAR 0.888
BODY SAR 1.81
As is suggested for the Touch Cruise in this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371121
Does this phone actually have the same SAR as the Touch Cruise, its just that it is reported differently?
If this phone's SAR is 1.7, then that is ridiculous !!!!
The n95 for instance (I know, Nokia are evil, but for the sake of comparison...) has a rating of 0.58 !!!
I don't care even if it is the Max - 1.7 is far too high
I was literally on my way to buy this phone, when I found out the SAR rating !
As a result I am no longer going to buy it !!!!
Why should the HTC have SAR ratings which are so high ?????
SAR differences
Hey kdm!
Why u should by a HTC device? Because they`re cool and in the forum very good supported.
Everybody knows about SAR and I`m using an BT headset for every call.
The Hardware of Polaris and Orbit2 is the same, like u read your linked thread.
I like my Orbit with my headset!
Frank
er... wots SAR then?
Oh ok, Specific absorption rate right?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Specific_absorption_rate
Isnt google amazing!
has anybody really proved the SAR rating thing yet? last I heard here in australia was that EU phones are more powerful then AU phone and as such the rating system never came in to effect in australia. Well the way I look at it is I do much worse things then use my phone....
ANyone ?
No one still have their box or manual lying around ?
What does it matter dude?
I sure hope all this SAR stuff is crap, because I sleep with my phone next to my head every night!

Wow ! Thats living life on the edge !!! I think even those who state that mobile phones are largely safe still caution against that !
Look, to be honest I am undecided as yet whether SAR ratings really are something to worry about, but until it is established once and for all I think it better to hedge ones bets !
As a result I went for the Touch Cruise instead of the Orbit2 becaus the SAR is reportedly lower.
Radiation emmisions
Hey kdm!
Think about all the radiation of atombombs, nuklear accidents like tschernobyl and harrisburg and all the untold accidents... The radiation from outer space and so on...
About all the radar for airtraffic, Radiofrequencies and all the other emmisions we are exposed to everyday...
Without any longtime (50 years and longer) studies i think it would be difficult to assess the effect of all these including the SAR effect in our heads...
Just think about it...
Frank
Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz, (the Federal Office For Radiation Safety in Germany) rates it at 0,89 W/kg (http://www.bfs.de/elektro/hff/oekolabel.html)
Here's a link to a list of many phones and their SAR ratings as reported by Swisscom (http://www.swisscom-mobile.ch/scm/mce_sarwerte-en.aspx). Most Touch phones listed are between 0,4 and 0,8 W/kg.
There are two different standards for maximum exposure limits. The International (2.0W/kg) and the US FCC (1.6W/kg). The information above is based on 2.0W/kg testing. The SAR ratings listed throughout the internet for this phone range anywhere from 0,4xx to 1.4xx W/kg, which shows that testing and reporting varies as do beliefs on what's safe and not safe.
Best way to avoid cooking your brain is to just use the speaker phone or an ear piece, corded preferably. Using a bluetooth earpiece can be just as bad or worse (in the case of inside-the-ear dwelling models) than having the phone next to your head since they too put out RF signals.

Same hardware (HTC Polaris / P3650), really only cosmetically different.
Planning on resurrecting the old i-Mate 9502 for my son. Yes it still going strong with a stack of functionality - GPS etc.
Does anyone know if there has been any advance on a WM6.5 rom for the i-Mate 9502 yet?
Been searching and reading through iMate Ultimate 8502 & 9502 WM6.1 1.77 (see here), but there does not seem to be any further development.
Be nice to get something like Gregorys WM6.5 nice looking and functional rom for my old i-Mate SP5 (HTC Tornado) (See here, latest version here).
If you know of any WM6.5 ROMs, or anyone playing with one, please let me know.
i-mate 8502: Anybody sells display or phone? /alguién vende pantalla o teléfono?
Good afternoon, folks
I was relatively happy with my i-mate ultimate 8502 till I dropped it and the display broke.
As I'm against buying new stuff if you can at a reasonable price fix something, I'm asking:
is anybody willing to sell almost altrusistically a display or even the whole phone? We could do it through the normal channels (paypal, google, ebay, whatever). Or in person, I'me based in Spain.
Warm regards,
Manuel
