Change startup screen on the I-mate JAM - General Topics

Anyone aware of a utility that is able to change the startup blue screen what you soft reset the JAM. and how to extract the default startup image.

Refer to this post.

Same procedure. As for the default ijmage, it is stored in the EXT ROm of the Jam, I did a hard reset and let the default programs install and it brought it back.

ext rom unlocker MDA Compact or S100

where to download - or doesn't exist ?
If you want to get access to the extended ROM you simply have to do perform the standard debranding procedure on you MDA Compact (or whatever brand you have).
Here is how it works:
1) Do a hard reset.
2) Go through all the initial configuration stuff (calibration of touch screen etc.).
3) At some point you will be asked to tab the screen to continue. Right after that the contents of the extended ROM will begin to install themselves. The trick is to tap the screen and immidiately after perform a soft reset.
Once your MDA Compact is done with the soft reset, you will find yourself being the proud owner of a debranded phone/pda. The external ROM will be visible. If you wish to install some of the things on the external ROM simply execute the respective CAB files.
I chose to install the caller ID application as well as the camera patch.
Have fun,
Lars
Hello,
Ok but if you don't want to make a hard reset you can:
go to your windows directory and launch loadvdisk.exe
just for info total commander see this file but the explorer of file not
yes thanks - but still i can't edit the ex-rom
Right, I forgot to mention that you can unlock the extended ROM without a hard reset. However, this is as I see it not particularly useful since everything on the extended ROM has already been installed if you don't go through the debranding procedure. Also as the name Read Only Memory (ROM) suggests you cannot write to it, so it is fairly useless to unlock it if everything on it has already been installed ... except if you want to extract the content of it to post it

I don't need to post - there is a lot already on the web. i need to change some preconfiguration with my own cab files for my company.
But it seams that there is no way to do this like with the 2020

What does an hard reset on a smartphone ?

Hello,
I'm exeriencing some random lookups with my s620, i think because:
1) memory leaks on the apps I have to use
2) i used to install anything i found on the first week of use and thus bloated/corrupted something
an answer could be to do an hard reset.
i have also problems with my JVM and found a new version on a forum (here?) so my question is:
If I modify the contents of my phone (like /Windows) and remove, modify or corrupt some files, will an hard reset make my phone like on the first day
or...
hard reset is just cleaning user partition, if you modified/removed some files of Windows you are screwed ?
Thanks
It will wipe out any registry changes and everything else. Your phone will be reverted back to the same state as the day you bought it.
So at first boot, WM copies itself from firmware (write only) to work area (read write) ?
I have a small new phone operator that use special software to connect to their networks. Is it possible that they add this software/network preferences (not sure to find GPRS settings) "outside" the firmware and that my phone will revert to an unbranded HTC or is it more likely that they have a custom rom ?
Just to confirm: I install the new midlet manager, if it break everything I can ALWAYS revert by hard resetting ?
no most of windows is run directly from the rom
only chanable stuff like registry is in ram/flash you have write rights to
and yes you can always hardreset

Soft Reset Loop

What causes a soft reset loop? I have installed ITsPapaBlack Final * 20748.1.4.0 on my Wing & now every time I soft reset my device, I have to take my SD card out to let the phone boot up, then put it back in when booted. It is rather aggravating! I assume that a program on the card is trying to start up on soft reset & is conflicting in some way. I have BatteryStatus & UltimateLaunch on my home screen & WeatherPanel as one of the UL screens. I don't believe anything else runs from the SD card in the background. If anyone can help me or provide an answer or some advice, I would greatly appreciate it!
P.S.: I had ItsPapaBlack RC6 on my Wing previously (the Final version above has updated SYS & XIP) & never had this problem.
**edit: I found this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321359) but can't figure out how to actually change the name of the dll! Any help?

Please assist-sorry to create new thread...issue after installing bg4all.

I installed bg4all after updating to the latest CHT 1.8 with editor. Now I have a blank (white) lockscreen and a blank (black) home screen. I've tried several times to add the home and lockscreen wallpaper with no success. I've deleted bg4all and soft reset as the problem occurred after the cab was installed. I've also un-installed HDWall and the HDwall patch. Please help as I don't want to have to hard reset. BTW, I'm stock US TMO with the upgraded 2.13 rom. Thanks in advance for the help!
In the future, please carefully read all installation instructions for any software you want to put on your device.
If you would have done this, you could have avoided the hard reset (after all, what is so shocking about this?): Cookiemonster clearly mentioned *not* to install *any* background mod or tweak, nor HDWall, as those functions are now part of CHT.
You might try to re-install CHT (turn off Manila/Sense, install, soft reset, turn back on Manila/Sense) before doing a hard reset...

[Q] Locked HD2 with keyboard .cab install

Hi all,
I just installed DINIK "Anastasia" Keyboard (v3) and must have somehow done something wrong, thereby killing my phone.
I copied the .cab file to my SD card, then ran the file, installed it to the SD card (without error) and restarted when requested. The .cab can be found at the following thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670811 .
When the phone rebooted it stopped at the white screen with gree "HTC" - it now will not advance beyond this point. I have tried to de-power & restart the phone, but it will not start.
The system is:
- OS version: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
- Manilla version: 2.5.19211619.0
- ROM version: 1.66.405.2 (76641) WWE
- Unlocked phone
Can anyone tell me how i can get the phone running again, even if it means a hard re-set back to factory settings. At the moment the phone can't be used for anything.......
Any advice or help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
BGM
I am concerned that the only solution is to make HR...
Thanks Petulinek,
No doubt going to cause issues when i re-install CoPilot without de-activation.

My device also died.. suspect that the keyboard does not work with recent ROM update.

U can hold volume down (or volume up, I can't remember) to boot into ur bootloader screen. U may now do a factory reset from there.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
OK thanks - looks like hard-reset is the only option
try boot with sd card out before HR
Of course it's satly to see this; but like mentioned several times on the "Anastasia keyboard" thread, v3.0 isn't compatible with older builds...
There only rest you a HR to solved your problem.
Thanks for the ideas - didn't boot with the SD out either, so have done a hard-reset.
Cheers
