I'm glad I can announce that I just realized my new Today Screen's plugin: MY|WEATHER.
Read below: you can get it for free.
My program shows you:
- current weather conditions for any point on the Earth (thx to weather.com service of course)
- forecast prognoze for the upcoming week
- histograms of changes, temperatures, winds, humidities
- satellite preview of clouds moving in the animated sequence of the last 10 pictures (thx to bbc.co.uk service) Europe or USA views only
In many styles and display types. To change display content tap-and-move down or up over the plugin's screen. Or only tap to switch to another screen. More: you can turn on/off borders, backgrounds, bars.
You can even use "one-line" mimized style, to save the space of your Today Screen. In this line you will see only temperature, humidity, wind speed and a small icon to open satellite preview on the top of the screen for a moment.
On any Pocket PC Phone Edition, where you set GPRS or BT connection to the Internet, all weather data update automatically in the specified period. You decide how often you want to update (and how much pay for connection). A full update requests around 5kB for weather conditions and 15-25kB for every sat.image - but you can decide how many sat.images you want to use: from 1 (last available image) up to 10.

I open the contest to authors of animated icons. I give the fully-features licence of MY|WEATHER and all next updates for free,
to everyone who makes and provides a set of animated weather icons.
The set should cover all 51 icons for weather conditions (as it is know from weather.com service) and, at least! 10 animated icons inside.
Descriptions:
MY|WEATHER uses as animated icons the following files:
- image in .png format
- any number of colours
- any size of frame (but 50x50 is preffered because optimization)
- all 10 frames should be put in one row
- all frames have to be in the same size
- eventually transparent color is 255,0,255
- the name should be compared to one of static icon
- alpha blendiong is not supported now, but will be in the future
- used images must be copyrights free

Whether it works with PDA2K? Any of your programs does not work with PDA2K correctly.
specialy, MY|PHONE PROFILES (Lite) i bought it but it coz doing hardrest WTF. do u name this a software or Virus??
befor u release any **** make sure that **** is work fine in ur XDA2 in addition dont say that **** works at -Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition- (LandScape Version) while u develope it in dummy rotate screen BASE.
i'm angry coz of ur ****s MY|**** MY|**** MY|****
if u feel sorry of what u'v done go and make UPGRADE (FIXES) ASAP
or ReBack Our Money
No working
I just try this software for my MDA II OS WM 2003 SE and have some comments as the followings
1. To slow restart device
2. Bug- hanging when search local place
3. Incompatible, I have to remove late on
JGUI's software ideas are actually quite good, it's just that in practice they aren't very good when made into the final program.
Very often I've installed various JGUI today plugins only to find they cause soft resets and then when I try to uninstall them, it says it cannot find such and such a file...and this is just in Windows, never mind Pocket PC.
I have WeatherPanel on my today screen and never had an issue with it, bought it for that very reason.
Cheers
Anthony
hey, JGUI, I would still love if you merged the current MY|CALENDAR with MY|PHONE and instead of Zodiac sign and population of earth (which I don't really care about) found in the MY|CALENDAR plugin, add signal strength and Network, as found in MY|PHONE. If you were to do that that would make one convenient and very useful plugin. I like the big display of the time and the calendar of MY|CALENDAR, but if you remove the zodiac and the earth population option, makes a empty space, that on the today screen is very vital.
Something like this (of course add shadows to the cellulat part also)
Still all this would work
sure
Yorch,
Finally it should be!
Right after I will finish MY|PLANS and MY|ACTIONS.
Still I wonder how to use the small size of screen to get all requested information at once. and the size will smaller... in the upcoming newest HP6500
Many/multiplied screens for today view, like spb plus or dashboard are not solution. Personally I don't want to make any action to change the view because I have to see something another. I want to view all at once. In just one blink of eye.
I play with many ideas.
BTW: the version with satellites previews is almost finished, just let me 2-3 more days for deeper tests.
I personally love My|SMS Messages.
However, i keep having problem auto refreshing when i receive message.
Sometimes, it does not refresh when i need to open certain programs to over write Today Screen, then My|SMS Messages will display.
Probably is my device got problem, however, very long ago, i did try out your older version on my older PDA, it still have the refreshing error.
FYI only.
NOTE:
your MY|Phone Profile Lite still not upgrade it yet (v1.0). all peoples tried it said that it suck because it hang the device when thay do softreset, so thay need to do hardreset to fix the problem. however, thay think your (MY|Phone Profile Lite) need to upgrade it. and thay need a support from jgui company. thay are human thay have a feel thay have paid.
not quite
I'm sorry but this is not a true what you said.
I have customers with XDAII, they use MY|PHONE PROFILES LITE without problems.
Alhought I understand I have to make more fixes to be compatible with this device more.
I'm very sorry about you problems. Maybe you use another program which touch settings of phone features. Maybe you should try to not use some specified features: like services on/off. Or maybe do not use ring sounds from external card? The Lite version hac no notification on-fly features. It just change resitry settings when you change Profile. Nothing more until you change it again.
I hope the next version will be more stable in XDAII.
Will be soon.
Cant get this to function
I really like the idea this of this plug-in.
but I cannot get it to work on my XDA II,
it will not complete the localisation even with PIE running in the background. :?
Is this my fault or is there some way I can get this to function.
:?
I spend a lot of time outside and some forewarning would be very very useful.
Davy,

I don't want to hide my Carrier Line, but I would like to customize it to make better use of the space it occupies.
Firstly, I would like to be able to show the date (in a shortened form, although not necessarily the short date format) so I can disable the usual Date plugin.
See the following Photoshopped mock ups:-
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Please note I have specifically placed the date where it is so that it doesn't overlap any of the different carrier or phone status messages that appear on the left.
I have yet to see a short date format that shows the abbreviated day (eg Fri or Wed) then dd-MMM-yy, but that is what I would like to see on my Today screen.
I would then like to use the space between the date and bluetooth icon to add some other icons. One icon that could be handy is one that shows that the hardware ringer switch is set to off (ie on mute). See Photoshopped mock ups below.
Ideally, if the Treo ever includes some sort of phone profiles app in the future (ie different device settings for home, car, work, meeting etc) then another useful icon that could be displayed here is an icon showing the currently selected profile.
Is it possible for any of the above to be developed in a 3rd party app ??
Or do I need to send my suggestions to Palm and hope they put it in a future ROM ?
What is the best way to contact Palm with this sort of request ?

Count Palm out on adding that to the carrier plugin.Im sure it could be added in.How?Im not sure but what a great view.It would save screen space filling that major void within the pluging.
The only way this could be done is to replace the original plugin. I doubt it can be hacked to add all that. I'm sure there are some clevers devs out there (and on this forum) that could whip up a replacement in an hour.
The icon for the ringer switch was more a "nice to have".
All I really want is the DATE in the Carrier Line so that I can remove the standard WM date plugin.
Perhaps I need to have another look at Wisbar Advance 2 and put the date up there somewhere.
I actually like the carrier/bt plug as well, I haven't used WA2 in awhile and decided to try again. Here is how I have it setup for the moment [might get your creative/setup juices flowing ]
Hey what is that cool plugin with the analog clock and calendar?

I gave WA2 a quick try yesterday for the first time although I wasn't really sure how to use it.
I did manage to get it to display the date and time together, in my preferred format of "Sun 04-Feb", which was good.
However, the other thing I really want on my Taskbar is a decent Battery Meter that shows the % remaining.
My current Today screen looks as follows:-
The app I am using the for the Battery Meter (and clock) is KBattery.
I don't particularly need the battery meter so wide..... I am just running KBattery that way so that it is wide enough to cover the standard battery meter and clock that normally appear side by side.
Can WA2 do a Battery Meter with % remaining figure? If so, then I could ditch KBattery.
I tried running KBattery with WA2, however, KBattery does not give the option to display just the Batter meter without the time..... thus I had two clocks!
I guess the alternative would be to keep using KBattery for the Time and Battery meter, but then use WA2 to display the DATE only - although I couldn't see how to do that in the WA2 configuration settings I was playing with.
HTC Home is a great plugin, I loved it from the moment i layed hands on it, not to mention that the skins the community here have made just added to the magic.
But, there were allways a few things that bummed me out about it, firstly that it doesnt fully support my new I780, sure i can run it at 96DPI, but i hate having to change my whole resolution just to run one plugin. Secondly, and this one has bothered me for a while even when i was using my tytn. The plugin just isnt customisable enough, you are limited to how many icons you can add, how many contacts you can add, you can't shift the tabs around the way you want them, it has a pretty standard layout. the only thing you can pretty much change is the skin. But then came along a new plugin that totaly blows HTC Home out of the water ....
It's called Hinavigator.
At first glance i thought, o no, here comes another htc home clone like pointui... boy was i wrong. With Hinavigator plugin i can change the tabs around as i want, i can add as many as i want, i can delete them as i want. I can put the clock on the home screen, can add the weather on the home screen with it, or icons for apps or contacts ... or i can put the weather into a seperate tab etc ... the options are endless.
And best of all, it fully supports the I780 with 320x320 resolution. I am running this plugin at 128DPI and from the screenshots you can see it runs very smooth and looks great.
Anyway, here are some screenshots, i only really use 3 tabs, but you can add as many as you want.
My home screen, I added both clock and weather on my front screen.

My Applications screen, iv'e added a bunch of usefull system apps as well as my most common program i use :
Lastly my contacts screen, i havent had chance to add photo's so iv'e just put some icons there for the time being, nice things about contacts is that you can add up to 5000 contacts :
Anyway, this plugin really rocks ... maybe with some skins it will be even better, but at the current level i don't think HTC Home can even touch it.
it's only $10 and worth every penny.
here is the Homepage : http://www.ppclink.com/?ppclink=product&do=view&id=64
you can download the trial version from there.
What do you guys think ?

all I know a few days ago somebody said Samsung Today is the best today plugin
anyway, nice write up. There will always be newer and better home plugin as we have abundance of talented WM developers around so you never know there'll be better once elsewhere to be unveiled. the new touchxperience seems like a great tool!
Really this application is very nice I used it for 3 weeks and It caused NO problems at all
I been using this since the original release and I really like it.
However, the automatic weather update does not work as advertised.
It is now Aug 3 at 7:10 EST. The last update was Aug 2 at 3:40 PM EST. My setting is to update every hour!

From what i read the dev's are aware of the autoupdate bug and said a fix will be out soon. you can manually update it, i mean how lazy can you be, its just a click of a button. Hardly a reason not to use it.
I love your theme/background. Can you post it please?
two problem that makes me uninstall immediately, unfortunatly.
1. photo contacts are not cropped properly. my contacts photo only show top left corner and hardly their face.
2. renders my 'ok' button useless...

That's not the point. If you pay for an application that says it does something, it SHOULD do it.
Like I said, I like the application but wish the auto update (which does not work as of 1.6) would work as advertised.
EDIT: I did notice the auto update would work if the weather was put on the home tab along with the time/clock. However, when weather is on a separate tab, it does not work and update as the settings suggest.
Can I make it use WeatherPanel instead of it's own weather app?

Yes. You can disable(delete) HiNavigators weather tab and use weather panel. However, you will need to use whatever space is left on your today screen since HiNavigator doesn't pull in other plugins.
Oh =/ , I meant can I integrate weatherpanel into HiNavigator but I guess I can't.
o it makes sense now. i have my weather panel as part of my home screen so i guess that is why i dont have the auto update bug.
but come on, be a bit realistic, this program is new and has very few bugs for such a young program. you cant expect it to be bug free. even htc home has bugs and its ancient.
for the time being you can manualy click the update button or put your weather onto home screen, its just pure laziness if you use that as an excuse not to use the software at all. auto update for weather is a very minor bug in my opinion.
thanks a lot. That´s what im looking for. Much beter than htc home and better ans easy than battery status.
If i could remove new e-mails and mms shortcuts, and use backlight control...it would be perfect!
great software, after tried for three days and email ppclink, i have purchased it. Worth every penny. wish they will support finger design for Task Manager as iPhone style.
what we actualy need is a few people with some creative talent to make some nice skins for Hinavigator
the default skin is pretty cool, but would be nice to have a variety...
the only Interface i will be needing : TouchXperience i am so pumped up about it..
When it has Weather support for my city, maybe i'll think about buying it. Until then it's a no go!!
That TouchXperiance looks super tight.
I'm pleased to announce the release of the Advanced Map Live Wallpaper, which allows you to show your position on a variety of maps on the homescreen.
Features:
* Wide selection of maps (Ordnance Survey, Google, Satellite, Terrain, Bing, OpenStreetMap, USA VFR and IFR charts...)
* Battery friendly - it uses network locations and shuts down whenever the homescreen isn't visible.
* Data friendly - aggressive caching means that you should only need to download a map tile once.
* Variable zoom on all maps
* Accuracy circle (can be switched off)
It's partly based on my original OS Map application, and draws on code from the open-sourced Rmaps2 and the AndNav library. Consequently, this application is also open-source, with the source available as soon as I've figured out how to use the Google Code repository (or you have have it as a ZIP file by email).
Notes:
This is a BETA release. I'd appreciate it if you could post any problems in this thread instead of leaving a low rating on the app. Ordnance Survey maps won't work outside the UK.
Right now, if you turn GPS on, you may need to select another wallpaper before it'll turn off again. You might also need to turn "Refresh Position" on in the settings page, which will be fixed in the next update.
Finally, I apologise to whoever's house is in the screenshots since I picked a location at random!

Update (14/06/10):
New version (0.9.3) uploaded. Minor cache fixed, force-close issue *hopefully* fixed, some general tidying up in the source. If it force-closes for you, try clearing the application data. Alternatively, enter the settings page, choose a different map type, and it should work. You can change the map type again after that. Hopefully resolved now I've remembered to close the database... ;-)
For those who can't find it, it's available to download here. You'll have to check for updates manually, I'm afraid, and if you keep an eye on the Market it should turn up eventually.
Update (16/06/10):
New version (0.9.4) uploaded. Fixes include landscape support and the really irritating bug where it would forget to load map tiles should now be gone.
Get it here (if you can find it on the Market, I strongly recommend downloading it from there instead):
http://maps.androidgamer.org/wallpaper/release/Advanced_Map_201006161712.apk
Update (5/07/10):
Version 0.9.5 uploaded to Market. Only major change is the addition of the Hike and Bike map as requested by a user. It should show up as an update on Froyo.
Also discovered the reason why it's not showing in the Market for Droid users - turns out that they don't respect the "Live Wallpaper" filter and won't show apps with that enabled in the Manifest.
Out of curiosity, is anyone still encountering problems with either the wallpaper itself, or finding it in the Market?
Update (4/08/10):
Version 1.0 uploaded to the Market. Major changes include the addition of Google Traffic and smooth scrolling between home-screens. (I hope you appreciate that, it took AGES to implement...) ;-)
There's an issue with force-closing on some phones which I haven't been able to resolve - no one has replied to my request to run Log Collector, and without a log I can't fix the problem. The Android Market is supposed to show crash reports, but doesn't.
Donations:
I've never been keen on asking for money, but there is a "donate" version to the Market. It's identical to the current release (which will always remain free) but it would be great to get a bit of reward for the hard work that goes into writing a Live Wallpaper.
It's only £1 and donations provide an excellent motivation for bug fixes and new feature requests. If you have the normal version, you'll find a donate link in the settings page.
Looks good, gonna try it out.
awesome
hmm interesting will try it for sure!
Even with the battery saving features, I can't imagine this not being a battery hog...
Wow, this is awesome. Thanks!
It would be really cool if we could get an overlay like: greenchairpress .com/blog/?p=1392 working. It's cool having maps, but it's not something I see myself using day to day. If there was a map alternative that was a bit more stylized that would be rad.
looks good. Just installed it. will let you know.
Not showing up on the market for me
alexland - is it possible to browse Bing Maps in that style, or does the Microsoft server have to render each mini-map on request? If it's possible to just get the tiles, in theory it should be possible to have it on the homescreen.

Me either. Bummer.
The accuracy circle bothered me on the other map wallpaper, thanks for letting us disable it. Are there plans to enable panning, or was that left out in favor of battery life?
Sick man. Thanks
Can't find it on the market either.
German Milestone from O² here...
Also, could you maybe add VFR/IFR maps for Europe in the future? Since I'm in aviation this would definately make it a wallpaper to keep =P
Thx in advance and before even having tried it,

found on market, thanks... will give a try!
Clearly something is up, there are lots of us unable to find it in the market. I learned about this app on an Android site and the one and only comment to the article was someone saying that they could not locate it either.
This looks like a great app, but I can't find it in the market either when I scan the QR code.
I have a Sprint hero on 2.1
ok, so, i think this only shows up on froyo. I was running cyanogen 5.0.7 (2.1) on my nexus one and it wasn't showing up. Then I restored to a nandroid of froyo (2.2) I had and searched for it, and sure enough it showed up, also, the screenshots in the thread are froyo, or at least look like it, so that also leads me to the conclusion its froyo market only
Hi all. I just posted to the market this widget which basically shows the clock with current date, battery status, next alarm, network operator and more. Most of it is configurable (which information to show, which color to use). I will add more customizations in the future.
P.S. it seems that on Galaxy S widget has some issues, pleasepleaseplease contact me before giving "1 star" for this, i don't have a galaxy s and i'm trying to understand whats going wrong.

not bad at all man. working on N1
love this but is it possible to NOT show the clock??`
I'm gonna add an option to show date instead of clock on next release, i could also permit hiding the clock completely, thanks for feedback!
Nice App - running fine on my Evo 4g - really like all the custom options
@johnuopini hey the time is showing incorrectly when used as a widget in i9000..Its intermitent, not rated yet.If you need any help I should be able to help you
Thanks for calling me a liar in the market description. On my galaxy s it always runs eating 10mb of ram even if the widget it not on the home screen. You admit you've never tested this on galaxy s. Maybe you should try your app on more varied hardware before calling your potential customers liars
I seems like anyone time anyone tries to report a bug in the market you just edit the description saying that's not true

Hi Ben,
first of all i've never used the term "liar" or anything near that, maybe i wrote that its not true that the widget eats memory or stays in background if nothing its on the screen and that's because i have tested it on a galaxy s (info on the widget its outdated), i have many friends from google that are using it on nexus s which is quite similar so im quite sure about that. Probably it takes 5 to 10 minutes once removed to autokill itself but it will disappear.
Moreover i don't understand people like you who writes "1 star" comments like that. Most of the widget in the market, i would say 90% of them, have background processes that are there even if no widget is on screen, does this make them "1 star" just for that or you think this could be in some way linked to Android APIs? I don't think this is fair considering that you are not paying anything for the widget, i don't see your comment as very useful for the community, that's all.
I could go into technical details and explain you why this is happening so often but there is a lot of docs around.
Finally, if you are not using my widget, just uninstall it.
Regards.
Yeah any app, widget etc that runs when not open or in use I do rate 1 actually. Google market allows users to rate however they see fit
No other widgets on my phone run when not in use. They dont have to be uninstalled

Try a reboot with widget removed and you will see that its not there anymore, or wait 5 minutes and, again, you will se that the process is not there, im SURE i have tested it yesterday on a Galaxy S.
Anyway no problem with the "really not useful" 1 star comment but an email before rating would have been nice, maybe one day you will develop some free software and understand what i mean.
Ciao.
I rather like your widget (just got the paid version), but there are a few niggles...
1) The date format flips between US (December 11) and European (11 December) depending on how long it is. Perhaps link that format to the global settings?
2) Might be nice to be able to create your own formats, or add a few text areas.
3) Personal thing, the year on its own might be nice.
4) Not sure what's wrong with the font selection, but I think you're working on that already.
These are by no means major, this is a lovely app (run on a rooted Galaxy S2).

Hi,
do you have the same issue with fixed location? is location&security->use wireless networks enabled on your android options?
Great widget, thank you! One request: Could you incorporate a color picker such as the one by Devmil:[Library] Color picker (Open Source)
Basically, I would like to be able to type in the hex color code rather than fiddling with the sliders.
Will be buying the pro version soon. Thanks again!
Great widget, I paid for pro version.
Can you explain me how to get short format of #NEXTALARM#?
I'd like to show next alarm as "Alarm in 15:45" but I get "Alarm in 15 hours 45 minutes".
Simple alarm time would be also nice as "Next alarm at 05:45"

Enjoy the widget and thanks
Lightwell is a Live Wallpaper which displays
- Current Location address
- How long you stay there already (UNIQUE NEW FEATURE)
- Time and Date
- Battery Status
- Local weather information [BETA]
- Network status (WIFI, mobile) and traffic counter [BETA]
I am very glad to read feedback from you here. Especially regarding measuring the time how long you stay at your current location. Does it have some value to you?
To me sometimes it was useful, e.g. "how long am i working already"...
Free version in Android market
If you have problems downloading the APK, you can try this link. But please note: Android 2.1 required to support Live Wallpapers.

lol whats the battery usage?
I like the concept. I installed the wallpaper and I will use it and see how the battery is affected if at all on my evo.
Would be nice of we could select any image as the wallpaper background. Could even go crazy with the customization by reordering things, different colors for each data set...weather option maybe.
Great work!! I look forward to seeing how this grows.
i can haz root
Seems to work okay....however it doesn't scale properly on my Dell Streak.
Only uses 3/4 of the screen vertically.
Width is fine.

Was actually just going to mention this too. Doesn't use up the whole screen on my evo, it actually seems to shrink sometimes and use even less vertical real estate

As I´ve written in the market!
Keep on and this could be the base for something great - why? Because no oine really needs it and that´s often a feature of success
If you need help with localization for German you can contact me (just see my other thread).
Excellent!!..
Thanks for this.
Can you please attach the APK?.. (sometimes is better for me than going into the market)
awesome live wallpaper! would be cool if there were an option to select a custom static wallpaper behind the status.
In X10 Mini Pro don't use all screen, in top keep a blank margin

It looks like that's an option of the paid version, if I read correctly.

+1 running on galaxy tab 7"
Cool wall paper thanks. I would like to be able to select the size of the battery gauge and the clock. I don't think time at a location is very useful to me. Seconds on the clock would be a cool option too.
Looks very good!
Have you run some tests of battery drain?
It would be great if we could customize the emphasis of each category. I guess a lot of people would prefer to have a bigger time and smaller battery level.
Select your own wallpaper background image
Hello,
first i want to thank you for all your feedback. I am very happy about.
- Currently I have uploaded two different versions to the market. One free version and a 1 $ version which adds the feature of selecting an image of your own gallery.
- Regarding Dell Streak's display size I will do some research and try to fix soon.
- Battery usage: This was one of my primary goals when developing the wallpaper. Often this was the cause, I have removed a live wallpaper in the past and changed back to a standard image again. As you can see all the values are updated when you turn on the screen. When the display is turned off, the app will unregister from all broadcast receivers to sleep all the night without getting disturbed (wakeup) by any OS notification. Repaint calls were optimized. I cant ensure that it is perfect, but I spent some effort on this already. (My N1 with Cyanogen is providing me nice statistics about CPU/Battery usage)
Once again I am glad, if the app is being used and some people out there like it.

extremely smart and unique idea. Good Job DEDEEP. still testing it out on my Tmo Vibrant with custom Roms

I apologize I didn't even see the paid version in the market, so I didn't know of the custom image feature.
I must say, I didn't notice any significant battery usage while the screen was off, certainly no change when the screen is sleeping, so it looks like that is working just fine.
Keep up the good work.

Agree with this, perhaps having configurable options as to what info is displayed? Apart from adding that to the wishlist, I'm enjoying this live wallpaper, good job.
