Blackberry Client - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

Does anyone know if the Blackberry client is available for this unit as yet?
Has anyone successfully extracted the client as yet?

Me too!
Yes, pls. I have been carrying 2 devices right now my Mini and BB 7730. Would be a dream to have best of both worlds in my Mini. Has anyone successful extract from IIs and create an extended ROM for Mini???

Blackberry For XDA Mini
Hey Guys,
I managed ot get an extracted version of the BB conect client abd install it on the unit although it just locked it up when i would run it.
So has anyone got the BB client to actually work on an XDA MINI ??
If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great !!
Shannon

I had the same issue. It just locked up. I had to do a complete wipe to get rid of it.
I really want to get the sucker going.......

I have got it installed on my SX66. I believe the PIN and IMEI need to be registered with RIM network (APN) to work. If you input the PIN and IMEI on your device via the Web Client it indicates it is not valid.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious here, but keep in mind that the Blackberry service is a commercial service that is only available to subscribers. I bet you got a subscription you could register your device and / or get a proper registration code from RIM.

I am in the process of doing that at the moment......but should the software no be stable regardless of being connected or not???? :?

I do have the proper services provisioned on the phone number. However if you go to the web client as prescribed to get it setup it indicates the PIN and IMEI are not registered.

How can I get the file?
Possible to send it over mail? If not, perhaps someone kind enough to pist it somewhere where we can download? I have BB account and know someone in local carrier
If can be mailed, pls send to [email protected]
TIA.

XDA ii mini and Blackberry client
I have heard (and read) that a number of people have managed to get the XDA II going with hacked versions of Blackberry client. This apparently does not work with the ii mini, but I hear this is due for release by O2 imminantly. Does anyone have any updates / news on that status of BB on XDA ii mini?? :?:

Not really a hacked version of BB. In fact, the BB are official copies.
The PDA device itself has to be on the official ROM that supports Blackberry. Therefore, if one's XDAII is on 1.66 WWE instead of 1.72 WWE, he has to flash his ROM to 1.72 WWE.
Reportedly, there will be a ROM version that supports BB for XDAIIi. So one could flash that ROM over his original device ROM and get it to work.

Re: XDA ii mini and Blackberry client
my current ROM is 1.03.00 WWE with extended ROM 1.03.147 WWE
I will wait for the "official" release before flashing and attempting anything.
Appreciate the input ...many thks

Trying to get MDAIII BB client to work on Moto MPx
I have the BB client installed, and it sees the IMEI correctly, but it does not show a PIN anywhere. I am using the German ROM ripped software for BB Connect 2.0. Can anyone provide assistance?

pdzalot
send me the BB client an i will see if the software i have here will locate the pin for you, had something simalar happen here with a XDA2

I can only speak for some UK networks, but may work for others as well, if you are using the BB client and the internet mail / web service your account needs to be provisioned on the RIM network, hence it means a 15UKP charge (provisioning of the blackberry APN), your PIN and IMEI registered on the Network and once that is done you would be able to register your device to use the service.
For guys already subscribed to the service, ie already with BB acounts and have access to the handheld client, on the web client interface there is an option for you to change devices, if your device is not being recognised, you could try sending a registration message from your device and see if that works.
Quite frankly its too much of a headache when you can have the same service at fractions of the cost from guys like smartner (www.alwaysonmail.com), been a happy user since last august and cant complain
HTH
Jim

where can i download the bb client for my sx66
?

the www.alwaysonemail.com looks good. does it work with the xda 2i? what would be the cost compared to blackberry?
thanx

I have BB Connect for the Treo 750v, but does it work on Cingular US?

or just Vodafone? I have Cingular's BB Connect dta plan, and had the HTC tytn working like a chmp with the german BB connect software...so im hopeful. i just would like to know someone on cingular has BB connect working before i buy one on ebay and salivate waiting for it.
tHANKS!
BB client is always the same
I'm not on Cingular, but the BB client is always the same coming from RIM. So the version 2.1.2.31 should work for every provider on a Treo 750.
I have Cingular and a Treo 750v with BB Connect running successfully. Loving it. The only issue I am having is that I cannot run BB Connect while under a UMTS connection. For some reason, BB Connect only likes a EDGE/GPRS connection.
Where does one go about getting the BB Connect client for the 750v? Wonder if the client with work with providers here in Hong Kong?

Australian ROM, anyone got it to upload?

I believe that "3" in Australia is selling the TYTN2 with there version of the ROM.
Has anyone on this forum got this? Can you dump it and upload it for us?
My issue is that I cannot get TYTN 2 in the UK on "3" network to run Live Messenger. Everything else works perfectly with HSDPA too.
Anyone been successful in getting it to work on 3?
I have Australian Rom HTC TyTN II on 3 service provider.
But don't know how to dump rom then upload.
But i'm willing to help.
Hi
Are you sure it is suppose to work?
Some networks will disable instant messenger type applications or charge you a lot more in data to use them.
Maybe worth checking on if should be working on your particular package. If internet works all okay and Messenger isn't it is probably being blocked.
Regards
Phil
thanks......

If you can follow this link, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334680, it shows you exactly how to do the dump, quite straightforward.
Thanks for doing this, much appreciated.

Hi, yes Phil, it seems to be a three specific version of Messenger as any phone bought from 3 has unlimited messenger access, whether on prepay or postpay.
My problem is that my TYTNII was bought from HTC, and so hasn't got a "3" version of the ROM. So my idea is to check out the Ozzie ROM with aview to building my own "3" ROM for the UK.
Cheers
Unfortunately Messenger isn't unlimited on the TyTN II on Three in Australia. This is the same for all WM devices on the 3 network here. So it's no special client for the 3 network by any means. Skype is though!
Backlight in VoiceMail Calls
Has anyone noticed this phone turns the backlight off when calling voicemail? I have a friend with the phone and she has tried everything with the phone settings and has had no success.
I even gave her the Modaco lock patch as the symptoms were close although not similar. As the problem is with the type of call she had no luck.
I have posted the link to the Official ROM from HTC for Three network in this thread.

xda Orbit 2, will it work on 3 UK Network (PAYG)

I am wanting to run one of these with a PAYG sim on 3UK Network, to benefit from the faster HSDPA broadband access via the phone and via a USB lead to a laptop (using the Orbit 2 as a modem). Is this likely to work OK? Anyone already doing this right now?
Also will the Orbit 2 work well with Skype, as my orbit 1 is poor and the audio breaks up (even when connected to 4mbit wifi connection). I hope the Orbit 2 has cured this problem.
I would appreciate comments on the above. Thanks a lot. Tony
I just came back from holiday in UK. My German Orbit2 used for roaming either O2 UK Network or TMobile and 3G worked fine on both networks. Is it that, what you were asking for?
About Skype I don't know anything, sorry.
Thanks for the reply, but no not exactly what I am looking for. I want to use the Orbit 2 on 3UK, which is another network (unless 3UK uses someone elses network). The 3UK Network is a new network provider in the UK.....
I basically want to know if the Orbit2 will work on 3UK with a PAYG sim (NOT ON A CONTRACT) for HSDPA internet access and to use as a normal phone.
I currently have an Orbit 1 on Orange PAYG, but want to use HSDPA (faster internet access with the Orbit 2), I also want to be able to use Skype as well using HSDPA.
Thanks anyway for the reply.
If you don't get help here, you should call the provider and ask.
Because I wanted to use my Orbit2 with a prepaid SIM of O2 UK with mobile internet. And they said, I can only use it for making calls and texts, not for internet. (They weren't able to provide internet settings for the device if not in a contract.) So I was able to use a prepaid SIM but only for calls and texts.
Anyway, good luck.
3 uk network
I think I understand what you're asking.
3 will not assist you because the Orbit 2 is not an 'approved' phone for 3's network.
However, there is a cab file that permits you to spoof 3's network that you are using a Nokia N95 which is an approved phone.
I know it works because we did this for a work colleague that was sick of his Nokia and went and bought a touch cruise and we installed the necessary file.
He's generally happy with the result but does report the occasional lag on 3's network.
If you want to know more and find a link to the file I suggest you read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2229186
Best of luck and let us know how you get on.
Lom
Thanks a lot!!!!
It looks like you have sorted my problems... I will be getting the Orbit 2 in a couple of days and I will let you know how I get on. Thanks once again Lom.
ps. Any idea what the URL is for planet3 on the mobile???
Regards Tony

Tony,
I'm not a 3 customer, but the thread I suggested you read claims this is the address for planet 3:

ATT Fuze ROM Questions

All,
I currently have an unbranded/unlocked HTC Tilt that I imported from the UK when they first came out about a year ago, well before ATT started selling their version of the Tilt. Mine has the front camera, etc.
As I understand it, ATT must have made some sort of deal with HTC on the Raphael (Fuze) because the Touch Pro I bought (and have since returned) would not support all of the 3G bands here in the states. I could only get EDGE.
I really want to get the new Fuze, but I am concerned about the limitations ATT is going to introduce on the ROM of this device, and I wouldn't buy the ATT version if there was another way to get the device with the appropriate US 3G band support.
So, my questions are:
1. Proxy Server settings: Is this available on the Fuze ROM? The Tilt I have now allows me to uncheck the "use proxy server" on my MediaNet connection profile. This is an important setting for me to have, as without it I can't get my Slingbox client and Newsbreak to work properly if it is enabled or not available to disable.
2. Internet sharing: Are the rumors of this being removed true? I hear that they pulled it. ATT is starting to look like Verizon with their ROM limitations. If they did pull the internet sharing app, can you copy it from another device or will applications like PDANet or WMWiFiRouter work in it's absence?
I think that is all I need to know for now. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

why dont you just flash a new rom to it?
internet sharing is there you just have to open from file explorer
and the NA touch pro will be available after the fuze with 3G
I thought about that...
Ok, I had considered that, but if I do flash a ROM, which one?
If I flash it, will it have the appropriate application/registry entries to support the bands for proper 3G operation here in the States?
GRRRRR.... why do they pull this crap? Apparently it is too much to ask to get a true "world" phone with all the bands in hardware and software!

well i work for at&t and i was given the fuze as a demo device about a month ago and have since decided to keep it (kind of a nice thing). you can do what i just did to mine. I flashed it with HTC firmware, then flashed the at&t radio's onto it. I was also given a link to a cab file that switches the keyboard to the at&t layout (my only gripe change).
The onlything i see intresting is the Fuze's we got in last week, when i booted one up and played with it for a customer, i noticed they have a 1.95 SPL they are shipping with. wonder if that will effect flashing to the unsigned spl. And i will say, They didnt trim much out from original software, however they gave it the good ole' at&t bloatware.

All the configuration is done during one customization screen. A soft reset to kill the bloat must be done before you see the "3...2...1..." countdown.

Rob-
I bought my Fuze off eBay so I can't swear that it is the same version as what will ship but I'm pretty sure that it is.
On mine, you can check or uncheck "use proxy server" in the Media Net settings just like on your Tilt. Also, mine DOES include the Internet Sharing. I haven't had a chance to test it out yet, but since it's there I'm guessing it works.
Internet Sharing is in the official AT&T ROM. As a matter of fact, when you connect the USB cable, you get 2 choices: Activesync or Internet Sharing. No Wireless Modem crap on the Fuze.

Orange mobile windows phone

I need some advice regarding an upgrade on my orange account. I have just hade a HTC touch 3G after being pleased with my last phone HTC elf. I have sent the phone back today because orange do not let you access the internet throught wifi on this phone. I am not sure what to go for and would be greatfull for any suggestions.
wifi is limited range your phone company would never know or be able to stop
you from using wifi to access the internet
best thing they can do is if you get it from them put a rom
on it where wifi was removed
in which case you putting another rom on it would reenable wifi
so if orange block wifi in that phone they are likely to do the same
on any phone you get from then which also have wifi
normaly wifi works even if one don't have a sim in the phone
I have been told by HTC that wifi has been removed from the rom. Orange are suggesting the Blackberry Curve 8900 what do you think of this phone?
ive never used blabberry so ill not bash them but i recomend the touch hd
only seen a blackberry once shortly
but they got more of a rep of being email
devices then general pda's with games
and piles of 3ed party apps
when wifi is removed from a rom one can just
flash it with a custom rom and it's right back
of cause that could make orage void the warrenty
which is why I never buy my phones with contracts
As a Blackberry Admin i can confirm that they are almost second to none as far as email goes but for device tweaking stay with WM.
Thanks for all your advice. i have put a complaint in to orange as I feel they have miss sold the HTC 3G because it says on their website and on the phone box that they send that it has WIFI. I am going to try the blackberry.

He'll be back, the BB is good at what it does until you want to tweak it then you're stuffed.
Personally i am a BB Admin with a WM device of my own, give me WM any day.
