Does anyone did a internal memory upgrade to 128mb in the Qtek S100? Where? Is it worth the price?
Thanks!!!
It's awesome ... 57Mb internal RAM is simply not enough. After the 128Mb upgrade, I did not have to select what to install in RAM anymore, and everything runs more smoothly than it did in 64Mb (I have an upgraded i-Mate Jam)

where did you upgrade your i-Mate? Just curious.. 8)
What exactly are you using all that RAM for? I've installed all I need, and I have plenty of space left.
Hi,
How can I upgrade my ram? Is it possible to use parts of other pocket pc's? I have a Qtek2020 which I could use for parts... (it's screen is broken)...
Thanks,
JeDa
Mine was upgraded by www.ppctechs.com. I have a requirement for the following programs to reside in RAM, since about 3 hours of my working day are spent connecting to the corporate Lan with a wireless SD card. One look at the list should indicate that I mostly use my PPC professionally.
TimeTTracker
Tekstmaker
Planmaker
KSE Truefax
PocketPlan
Citrix Client
VNC Client
Terminal Services client
TomTom
Adobe Acrobat
PocketLauncher
Peacemaker
Commontime mNotes
PIToday
Hudson Phonedashboard
PocketZenPhone
Tube PRO London and Paris
Pocket InformantSprite Backup
SPB PocketPlus
SPB GPRS Monitor
TimeTTracker
Looks really powerful! I might check this out!
Tekstmaker
Planmaker
Looks good, really good. But if you're at your own premises (like you said) you might as well use the real thing on a full size computer with a full size keyboard to save some time.
KSE Truefax
Why? You must have fax machines at your company?
PocketPlan
Useful if you have project plans allocating your time on an hourly basis, if not - why do you need it in your pocket?
Citrix Client
VNC Client
Terminal Services client
All three of them? You should have your company selecting a standard environment. And WTS client is in ROM so that does not really count as something requireing space on your device.
TomTom
For navigating the corridors?
Adobe Acrobat
Reader or writer? At least on the QtekS100 there is an acrobat reader included in the ROM.
PocketLauncher
With SPB PocketPlus, why do you need this?
Peacemaker
Why exactly do you need this if you're connected to the WLAN?
Commontime mNotes
I guess if you're stuck with Notes you're stuck with this.
PIToday
Something like this should really be standard, but I personally prefer tAgenda. And does PIToday work with mNotes?
Hudson Phonedashboard
You have a company phone, right? So why bother?
PocketZenPhone
Nice one. But not really useful until I can use the volume slider to pick between different profiles.
Tube PRO London and Paris
Beutiful!
Pocket Informant
Does this work with mNotes or is it just a "nice to have"?
Sprite Backup
Is this really necessary? If you syncronize with your server using mNotes it seems a bit overdoing it.
SPB PocketPlus
This should be on every PPC!
SPB GPRS Monitor
Again, why? I used it for the trial period to find out roughly how much I was spending, but now I just don't bother. If I don't need to know I don't want to know.

It's mainly for reference purposes during meetings. The sheets I work with sometimes lose formulas in the translation to Pocket Excel
KSE Truefax
Why? You must have fax machines at your company?
Yes, but some faxes I receive are confidential
PocketPlan
Useful if you have project plans allocating your time on an hourly basis, if not - why do you need it in your pocket?
I have project managers in my staff, and need to able to see impact of changes in resource allocation, time frame changes, delivery delays during meetings in which we discuss these
Citrix Client
VNC Client
Terminal Services client
All three of them? You should have your company selecting a standard environment. And WTS client is in ROM so that does not really count as something requireing space on your device.
My company has a standard environment. Our customers usually do not.
TomTom
For navigating the corridors?
For getting to my office Actually I travel a lot by car, both for work and private.
Adobe Acrobat
Reader or writer? At least on the QtekS100 there is an acrobat reader included in the ROM.
Reader, and it's better than the westtek one, period.
PocketLauncher
With SPB PocketPlus, why do you need this?
I like tabbed menus better full screen than on the today screen. I do use pocketPlus, but only one single line for the key programs. The rest are organized in Pocket Launcher
Peacemaker
Why exactly do you need this if you're connected to the WLAN?
Peacemaker helps me exchange appoinments with people who have PalmOS (quite a few among my customers do)
Commontime mNotes
I guess if you're stuck with Notes you're stuck with this.
Yep
PIToday
Something like this should really be standard, but I personally prefer tAgenda. And does PIToday work with mNotes?
That's the fun of it. Regardles of what you use, all appointments go into the pocketpc underlying database. All PIMs are nothing but frontends in front of that same database. PIToday provides the list on the today screen, pocket informant gives me a more complete and detailed view when actually planning, and mNotes synchronizes that same underlying database with Lotus Notes.
Hudson Phonedashboard
You have a company phone, right? So why bother?
No, the PDA is private but I use it for work. The phone part contains my private number. I also have a company phone, but that is a phone only.
PocketZenPhone
Nice one. But not really useful until I can use the volume slider to pick between different profiles.
useful enough for me though
Tube PRO London and Paris

Pocket Informant
Does this work with mNotes or is it just a "nice to have"?
As with PIToday above. PIToday is only a today plugin, Pocket Informant is the real PIM, and yes, Pocket Informant Rocks!! (and mNotes synchronizes my data from Lotus Notes to the PPC Database, so yes, for use with Pocket Informant.
Sprite Backup
Is this really necessary? If you syncronize with your server using mNotes it seems a bit overdoing it.
Yes, it is neccessary. A PPC usulaly not only contains data that can be synchronized with the desktop, but also license files, configuration files, favourite settings etc. Besides, PPCs do crash, and having a self extracting backup handy on a memory card gets you up and runnign in 30 seconds, back to the state your machine was in before the crash.
SPB PocketPlus
This should be on every PPC!
Indeed.

I need to know, since it's my private subscription. Aside from this, quite a few companies allow you to use a company phone, but with a quota above which one has to prove the calls are buisiness related, so yes, tracking calls may actually be of importance for more people than you would imagine.
Of course, the reply above was mine. Forgot to log in ...

Ok, I wont quote the long text
Although I would have chosen to carry a small laptop for some of the tasks I agree that if you don't you probably need most of the software you listed.
To Wiz:
With all those application running, How is the battery life on 128MB ?
thank you
As far as I can tell, battery life is roughly the same with 128Mb installed, maybe slightly better even since I do not have to start programs from SD anymore.
how much memory now is free after a hard reset?

Simple request
Does anybody know of a simple utility that can incorporate Tasks into Pocket Outlook. Tasks then will be intergrated into the calander and will use the appointment screen to set a task. Also this utility should manage to display a full weeks appointments and task in sequence - not seperated.
Thanks in anticipation

There's a free today screen plugin that shows combined tasks and appointments...
http://tiews.info/index.php?show=software/todayagenda
I've given up on it for now but it seemed to work ok. Not as advanced as other plugins like PocketBreeze but much lower overhead associated with using it.
Have reverted back to standard plugins even though they are pretty pathetic since the plugin didn't seem to cope with orientation switching too well - an annoyance when using it with a device with a slide out landscape keyboard.
PocketBreeze for Me!!
I can't comment on TodayAgenda, as I've never tried it. I found it on these forums after purchasing PocketBreeze. But, from everything I've read about it on that thread, it's a very good program.
However, I WILL say that I LOVE PocketBreeze, and it would be virtually impossible (IMO) to find anything that even comes close. It does exactly what the OP wanted, plus more. It's the only plugin I use on my Today Screen, and it allows for Custom tabs to be set for other plugins, as well. So, I have iLauncher, Pocket Weather and Spb Time integrated into PB as custom tabs and from that can access virtually everything on my Wizard from the Today Screen through Pocket Breeze.
There's a 14 day free trial period, but I was sold on it after only 3 days and bought it. Others may have different views, but for me -- it's the BEST!!
I've use both todayAgenda and pocketbreeze. For the price of todayAgenda, there isnt really much to 'complain' about, other than the fact that, it doesn't display tomorrow as 'Tomorrow', which is quite annoying (that it lowered the importances of the task/schedule).
Anyway, I'm using pBreeze now and no complain so far. It is highly customizable which others may find annoying, but if you want to have full control on your display, go for it. I so wish I get commission for selling this software
Check new todayAgenda 0.95 beta and check spbDiary with better phone contacts handling (hardware keyboard) than pocketBreeze.
Thanks everybody.
TodayAgenda works well for me. Exactly what I wanted.

Hi!
I'm searching for a software for personal finance management.
I've found several, but this 3 seem to be the most well ranked:
- Spb Finance
- Cash Organizer
- Mastersoft Money
Have you ever used any of this, are they user friendly, practical?
What is your experience with these software?
Which one do you recommend?
I don't want anything complicated.
I just want to control my day by day spending.
Where do I spend most, where can I save, etc...
Can you help me make up my mind...
Thanks!
I've used CashOrganizer for more than 3 years now. I has a great planning / schedule feature that automatically loads repetitive expenses or deposits into the corresponding account as required, a project category system and great report (and fast) generation. I don't sync the data with a computer, but it says it can do it. I have about 10 accounts with at least a year's worth of transactions and it runs very well. I would improve the gui a bit because it is sometimes hard to read. They also have good / fast service via email. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the answer.
Have you ever tried any of the other apps?
Or have you always used cashorganizer?

No. I 've only used Cash Organizer. I haven't tried the others.
I haven't ever tried those 3, but I have Quicken on my notebook, so I use PocketQuicken, works very well!
No problems with Spb Finance here.....
I've been a user of both spb Finance and CashOrganiser.
I use CashOrganiser 8 which I sync with Microsoft Money 2005 on a vista PC with no problems. It's quick, reliable and the reports are useful.
I went over to CO because I had numerous sync problems with spb Finance. This was a couple of versions ago and they have had a major update recently for Vista compatability.
Best bet is to get each of them on a free trail and try for yourself.

Hi!
I've been testing the apps for the past days and I've decided to go with Cash Organizer.
It really seems to be the most complete, friendly and atractive one.
Thanks for helping!
I use SPB for the past two years. I really like it but I do not sync with any desktop applications.
Cash Organizer even for multiple PDAs
I've tried them all, since they did away with MS Pocket Money.
I have had syncing problem with SPB.
I have used the Cash Organizer for several years now and though not perfect, I like it the best.
The bad: Very little Customer support, if it's questions or problems they don't want to deal with.
Upgrading: had great personal support from the developer!
The good: Easy to use.
Will sync 2 or more PDAs, so we run the same software and just sync up in the evening through MS Money. Great way to keep our finances straight!
Have tried the demo of
- Spb Finance
- Cash Organizer
and I preffer Cash Organizer
I will but it once they bring the feature to add notes from the express screen
I've been searching for a good PIM software forever. I loved the PIM software that came with the PalmOS. Since changed to Windows Mobile, I have not found one that can match up with the native Palm PIM. I am not looking for much. All I want, is simple "search" function added to the Calendar and Task (todo) programs that comes with Windows Mobile 6.1. Is that too much to ask for?
All the commercial software packages I've tried, either, too slow, use up too much memory, not hooked up with Windows Mobile environment well, or all of the above.
Any suggestions! thanks very much!
Yes, me too. Since my Psion revo, I've not found anything similar. The one thing I miss is multiple diaries. With WM6 everything has to be on one diary. I would like to seperate my work and personal diaries (without use of 'categories'). I've looked and looked. Everything seems to be simply a 'front end' to the WM one, but nothing unique.
I had a great plug in on my PalmV that gave me a week view of my calendar on the screen just like a paper diary, why has no-one done this for the Pocket PC?

anyone know of real PIM s/w. not just a today front-end, but something that has it's own database/sync?

Sorry but forget about PPC not even for WIn PC exist a nice/good PIM.
can we use this thread for useful applications.
whether its tools to customize or certain programms. There are a lot of people who didn't own one of the latest HTC devices, thus they don't have a clue about the names of certain apps.
Those who do, could help them to install the right tools for their needs.
Too Right
we need load of appz for this phone like the iphone has. we must use the multitouch on board and develop loads of application for the HD2. So all you programmers out there get busy when the device comes out and give us some mega apps for this mega phone
the only MUST-HAVE app for me (and I've always had a few that I really like to have) is PhoneAlarm,
this is the best program I have ever found for conserving that all important battery life.
it allows you to set profiles and then switch to these profile based on time, gps location etc. The result is that you can switch things on and off as you need them (bluetooth, wifi, etc etc) which results in minimal power being used when you don't need the things turned on. for example, I have mine set to switch to flight mode at 12pm and then turns back on at 6.30am, this means my phone is effectively off at night (using virtually no power) and switches back on in the morning without me having to do anything. Why not just turn the phone off I hear you ask, well because if I did that I couldn't use the alarm to wake me up in the morning, and I would have to suffer the reboot time (which, lets be honest, isn't great is it)
and it's cheap to buy,
Please developers can we have an app like painting. an app that lets you paint like on the iphone, my little girl is crazy for that. I think the app is called "Brushes" just take a look at theses pics
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...i-masterpieces-finger-painting-new-level.html
I can realy seccond that!
My brother who is a iPhone user showed me lots and lots of nice apps making life easier and fun.
Prisjakt för example is a nice app that scans the thing you want to buy in a store and tells you the best price close to where you are.
Many many apps like this made me a bit confused wither i should still go WM or go over to the dark side... nah...
And why not a Mafia Wars app for WM as well?
Also include Sprite Backup for any kind of backups we may perform on our Leo's prior to flashing
Essentials for me are:
Resco contact manager (dont know with the new sense)
Pocket irc
SPB pocket plus & spb weather (dont know with the new sense)
Mypersonaldiet & MyPersonalTraining (Gym rat)
Resco explorer, because the WM explorer is a ****.
pocket player (good music player)
HiCalc
Tomeraider 3 (wikipedia offline)
Lexisgoo dictionary
ThumbCal
Coreplayer
Vito Audio Notes
Touch Pal (the best keyboard)
Pocket clock pro (best alarm and date/hour software so far)
SpaceTime 3.0 (maths)
PhatPad (to take notes, but I think that will be unusable in a capacitive screen)
SkyFire
Background all tabs...
I had touch hd and all tabs background was a very good app!
Thank's!
two apps I'd love are an ebay app and sky TV app....but no sign of such things anywhere...except on the iphone and since I can't wait to get rid of the stupid thing, I will have to suffer the lack of these two.
I also will have
Resco Registry Editor
Resco Explorer
Schapps Advanced config (assuing it will work on the HD2)
SPB Wireless (for tracking my internet usage)
SPB Time (as silly as it sounds, I found the snooze on WM too small when I'm half awake in the morning)
Resco Photo viewer (for editing images so I can send them via MMS)
I'd add Total Commander, enabling to change/overwrite system-files (such as the weather_cities.xml for other locations)
Generally I'd also really like to see such an variety of free apps for HTC devices as for the iPhone, cos I really don't want to buy such a piece of fruit, but the advantages keep growing...
I'm a Touch Cruise user, and really reading with suspense the first user-reports on the HD2, hoping it'll not be such a disappointment than my TC, but I fear I'll be disillusionned again from what I'm reading till now...
the sad thing is, there are a whole bunch of apps on the iphone that are free, and yet I would gladly PAY for them if they were on WM.
Cool needed Apps
okey, here we go,
Paint like VS paint or Vs Note pad,
Media like Core player, SPB TV or Dimond TV,
Games like Sky force, and Emulators like nes snes + Roms
barcode reader + step counter or pedometer etc...
Comic Reader Mobi
My single favourite app is Comicreader Mobi which makes comics look bloody awesome on the HD2!
I also use Kinoma Play.
* Resco Keyboard Pro.
Improves typing A LOT on the sensitive HD2 screen (due to the fact that it doesn't allow to change a character once you pressed one on the keyboard)
* Pocket Player with this skin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=563410
(no more fooling around with the buggy "Audio Booster", ust use the built-in EQ of Pocket Player. Better liberary browsing etc. )
Finger Keyboard 2.1 *free*
Batti 2.1 *free* (I love to be able to see my battery level as a thin bar on the top of the screen)
HTCaddicts CleanRAM 1.8 *free* The best RAM cleaner there is
Microsoft Voice Command (incredibly useful when driving)
SPB Newsbreak (Using this allows me to save so much time as opposed to using a browser alone)
TouchOff 0.5.0 *free* (For simple soft rests)
Touch response *free* (To enable more haptic feedback options)
SPB Traveller (For conversions, currency rates, etc)
Crackwhore's old style snooze options *free* (cause I simply cant use one fixed snooze alarm... this takes it back to the old style of being able to set the set the snooze length of time)
Coreplayer
Advanced Config Tool 3.3 *free*
Dutty's HTC task manager *free*(I really still cant let go of hit x to close apps)
Ewallet (for easy secure access to all my passwords, logins and other sensitive info)
Thanks to the others that have posted, I am keen to check out Comicreader Mobi too and a couple of other apps.
Sorry! Double post!
Must-haves for anybody:
SPB Shell
SPB Keyboard
One of: Resco File Explorer, Total Commander or similar
SPB Keyboard fixes all problems with HD2 keyboards, and SPB Shell is more practical IMO than the TouchFlo 3D interface.
Must haves for tweakers:
SKTools
Advanced Configuration
There's a lot of other good software I could list (e.g. TCPMP), but not everyone wants or needs them, so I don't consider them "must haves".

Do you know of any free alternative to that comic book reader app. I`d love to be able to read comics on my HD2 (for which I`m waiting eagerly(I`m from Romania btw)).

Trust me, none of them match up to this. It's worth the cost to be able to view the whole page full screen and tap on a bubble to zoom it to readable size! Plus, there's a free desktop version!
For years, I've been using fancy PIM managers to make up for the shortcomings of Pocket Outlook - first Agenda Fusion and then Pocket Informant.
PI worked beautifully on my iPaq 2215 running WM2003. It was up and ready in just 3-4 sec.
Well, then I switched to another device with WM5, then WM6, and the start time jumped up to 11 sec. Now Touch Pro 2 with WM6.5, and PI still takes 8 sec to load. That's an improvement. The problem is, I have no patience for this. I find myself using POL on everyday basis and not touching PI until I need to do something POL doesn't let me to do. While POL is very basic, and doesn't show tasks and appointments on the same page, it loads up almost instantaneously.
I tried everything - Agenda Fusion, Agenda One, ThumbCal, etc... all 3rd party PIMs suffer from slow startup, PI is actually one of the fastest. On my old PDA I solved the problem by running Pocket Breeze on Today. However with Sense, PB becomes redundant.
So, here's my question... are there any mods / extensions to POL to make it as user friendly as possible. Not the 3rd party standalone programs that use POL database (although if you know of the one that's as fast please let me know).
My 3 biggest issues with POL are
- small buttons to move between days
- no tasks in calendar
- no search
