G icon next to the SIgnal Strength!! - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

Have anyone noticed the small lil icon next to Signal strength with the letter [G]?
Is there a reg. tweak that could eliminate it? Or even temp. hide it?

Just shows that you have a GPRS signal. It is not a problem.

Thanx iggy. Given the fact that it reflects the GPRS signal. Even if the radio is off, the networking icon still appears. I've got a friend whos used to no icon on the Himalaya and now having that on the Magician it irritates him!!
Just like Wisbar, it is removable and put back again

Signal Strength Meter

Hi,
I have got a Phone application and want to know about the method which will help me update the Signal Strength Icon on Top right Corner which is the Top Bar (Correct me if its not the top Bar). The phone application has a icon which displays the Cell signal strength, but it is inconsistent with the one on the Top. So is there a way to do that ? I tried with notification API's but somehow I am not able to find the CLSID corresponding to that Icon. Could any one please help on this.

Thanks,
With Regards,

[Q] WM6.1 click taskbar icon to show more detail e.g. battery -> % remaining

Hi,
I've recently purchased a HTC Touch Pro 2 running WM6.1. Before that I was on a Palm Treo 750 on WM6.0, and on the Palm when I touched the battery icon it would pop up an info bubble showing the % remaining. For that matter any of the other icons in the taskbar I clicked on popped up an info bubble. It just makes sense - icon provides basic info, if you want more detail click on it, simple. I presumed this was normal behaviour until I came to the HTC, and now when I click on the battery icon (or network icon or speaker icon for that matter) I just get a 'Notifications' screen which tells me nothing about the battery (or speaker, and not much about the network).
The battery icon itself on the Palm had a smooth decline from 100% to 0% rather than the HTC one which has just 4 fat bars. I know there are numerous other icons out there but I guess my question goes beyond just the appearance of the battery icon to the functionality of the whole taskbar.
How do I go about restoring the 'sensible' functionality of the Palm on the HTC?
Thanks,
Greg

wifi icon in notification bar on ICS

I've updated to the official HTC ICS release, using the flashable ROMs created on here from the OTA file.
All is great, loving ICS so far.
One thing I've noticed, the little icon on the top bar to show I am connected to a wifi point is grey, with just the little circle bit white , as though it was a low signal strength. This is with it next to the router. Apps like network signal info aren't showing any signal %age at all, not even a 0. It's working fine though, speedtest apps give excellent scores.
When I go into wifi settings and scan for access points, those are correct. My router is fully white, whilst ones around on the street are various levels of whiteness.
It's just that notification icon, and the signal strength in apps, that is not showing.
Any ideas?
Reboot, and then it's back to normal.

Are you kidding? As the phone is rebooting I'm thinking did they mean the phone or the router. When the phone comes back on and all my bars are there I'm like could it have been simpler? No I guess it couldn't have.

[Q] how to disable the autohide function of the status bar icons?

Does anybody know if there is a way to keep the status bar icons visible in wp7.5? Is there some option to disable the autohide function via some registry changes?
I know that this is against the minimalistic approach of wp7 and that it's easy to see the signal strenght and wi-fi signal icon, etc. just with one tap on top of the screen, but I sometimes like to have such information just at a glance, without one extra touch... especially that I often have to deal with very weak signal...
Anybody help please? I would appreciate it very much...
Not Possible atm
unless they push the setting in an update, you have to be content with the tapping top middle screen
I would also like this to happen; and there is always a way either by the way of a reg hack or a dll hack. Please someone do this
Currently not possible. But just a FYI.. If there is no signal, top bar will be automatically shown. Same applies for WiFi indicator as well.

That's bad news. Maybe it's my personal opinion but I don't like having to swipe to see this information plus it leaves an akward looking space. Like I said maybe it's just me.
But for me, it presents much cleaner screen and I don't have to look at those symbols anytime. If there's an issue that needs user attention, it will be shown automatically. That's really cool imo. But We have to live with it for now.
