Hi Guys
Has anyone come across any software for WM2003 that can encode audio directly from the microphone (or effectively line-in using a little adaptor in the headphone socket) directly to WMA?
I've done a quick search on google and not come up with anything so thought I'd check if anyone has seen/heard of something like this?
Cheers

notem is free and it encodes right to mp3. do a search for "notem" or "note m".
Good luck!

Hi!!!
Finally i listen to music with my HP stereo headset.
I use BCHS FOR POCKET PC OZONE drivers
But i have some problems, windows media player only conect with my stereo headset when i play 128 or up mp3, never wma or mp3 with less compresion.
Help for this??
Thanks to all and excuse me for my english
No idea???
Nobody has any idea?? :? :?
No. Nobody has any idea. Seriously.
They're limitations of windows media player and windows mobile 2003. WM5 is better, apparently.
Seriously, search a bit before posting.
Awesome! I was wondering if this combination works!
I don't think I keep any MP3s with a bitrate lower than that anyway.

I have read the treath of BCHS FOR POCKET PC OZONE and i know that many people succes and stream mp3 but they have problems with compression, for this reason i open this topic
I use 44 k mp3 because i record it from radio or download from radio directly
Thanks for all!!!
I thought radio was 22k?
Here when i took from ondacero it has 44
Thought I would add - just got the same headphones, with the same stack, confirmed as working.
Volume on the headset works, but track forward, back, pause and play don't work.
Quality is awesome, but it's a streamed buffer. If your Magician is busy, you'll get a little skipping/blanks. I like how you can mute the Magician, but you still get bluetooth audio.
Oh yeah, only works in WMP.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but i've only just ordered my XDA Exec. I'm a long distance HGV driver and take loads of bloody things on the road with me which is why I decided to get an Exec to combine them all into one. I was wondering what the MP3/xvid/divx playback is like on them? I plan on putting in a 4 gig SD card so I can play all my MP3's etc (and a couple of tv episodes I follow) and was wondering what the playback is like on them? Is it ok or do I still need to take my MP3 player etc with me?
Thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to help.
I'm only using 1Gb here, but Media Player 10 happily plays all the MP3's I throw at it without a problems.
For DivX though you'll need something like BetaPlayer though (now relabed TCPMP) Just google it will find really fast.
Yeah, I downloaded that TCPMP the other day. Is the quality of MP3 playback (sound quality) on the Exec good?

Well I guess really depends what you're comparing it too
If you're playing through headphones it's fine and personally everything sounds great to me.
If you're playing through built in (stereo!) speakersit's certainly no worse than my previous BlueAngel (XDA IIs) and I think it's louder too. It's not amazingly ultra clear etc, but then it's not designed to be a super expensive stereo It certainly is good enough for me while getting ready in the morning etc. Othertimes just use the headphones and that's great.
Hope that's some help.
even old b&w pda's play mp3 just fine
it's not really that hard
and even xda1's play movies just fine in the res of their screen
Thanks very much to you both. I'll be playing it through headphones when i'm unloading my lorry. I always go to depots that are empty so I listen to my MP3 player to get through the boredom while i'm unloading and like good quality sounds
Consider converting your MP3s (or re-ripping them) to the new format AACPlus v2.
I have a 2GB Sandisk SD card in my Exec. Using the aacplus v2 I am able to have over 75 albums (yes, 75) at better-than-cd-quality bitrates, as well as everything else such as Tomtom, installed apps and a couple of films.
You would need to use TCPMP with the AAC plugin (which can be googled for pretty easily) to play them as WMP will not play them in high quality, but offers incredibly low filesizes - in some cases just over 1MB for a 4min song.
Cheers

I use my Exec as a MP3 player a lot, and with a decent pair of headphones the sound quality is great. I tend to use GSPlayer for audio more often, mainly as it has good support for Shoutcast radio too, although if O2 really do start charging for GPRS that may become a thing of the past.
Anton do you know of any good free MP3 to AACPlus v2 converters?
Chrispy, you may also want to consider getting a FM transmitter from Ebay or ordered from overseas (They are not sold in UK due to broadcast liscence issues), that way you can broadcast the Execs output to your Trucks radio.
I use the standard Windows Media Player for mp3 and it works just fine and sounds comparable in quality to my other mp3 players.
It's even better if you purchase Microsoft Voice Command as you can control WMP with one button press and your voice, and even use a BT headset - great for driving.
Can you possibly use any kind of bluetooth stereo headphone, such as Motorola or LOgitech to work with the XDA III to listen to your MP3 songs?
If so, which particular headset do you recommend?
Thanks in advance!
J-
so have you used the search facility of the forums?
there is some massive threads on this very subject over a number of devices
Yes, search for "A2DP". I've also published a lot of info on this.
Thanks guys! I'll do that!
I have a MDA Touch and will be upgrading in the very near future. I was hoping someone could offer me a little advice over Music Playback.
I use the Touch a lot for music playback and have Audio Manager, Coreplayer, Mortplayer, SRSWOW and Pocket Player installed. All of these different players suffer from the same problem, a slight hiss on all audio tracks which is not noticable on a dedicated MP3 player such as an IPOD or Creative.
I have done various searches on these and other forums and this hiss is often put down to a lesser quality audio chip on board the PDA. Not to be confused with the hiss from bluetooth headsets, I use a set of wired headphones and have also found that the better the quality of headphones the more noticable the hiss. I tend to agree with the explanation that the hardware doesn't have a good dedicated sound chip.
The problem I have is that the hiss problem comes up in different forums for several HTC PDA's and is certainly not isolated to the Touch. This is were I would like your advice if anyone knows of a PDA that does not suffer from this problem.
Please don't advise me to just use an MP3 Player or buy an N95. Although music is the main thing I use on my PDA, Windows mobile is a must for all the other tools I need and I would prefer to use one device only and one that at least plays music without problems.
Many thanks in advance.
re:
I don't think pda designed for mp3 playback.
You should take your pda to repair service maybe something inside were broken
All modern pocket pc's are designed so that they can play back MP3's, it's just that it seems several are not optimized to play them to the high standard of a dedicated MP3 player. It's not often the software that causes this but the hardware. I am looking for a Pocket PC that comes close to the standard of a dedicated player.
Solved...
At http://headsetbutton.com/ you can get app which allows us to use wired headset controls in majority of audio players (not only Windows Mobile player and Sense audio player but also Nitrogen, Pocket Music, TCPMP...)...
Enjoy...

Greetings.
I decided to write this post after hours and hours spend trying to find a solution for one pretty simple thing.
I want to be able to listen music on my HD2 on audio player that isn't standard one that comes with Sense UI (i have clean rom without Sense UI) and to be able to control that audio player with my wired headset buttons. I know that wired headset controls work ok with built in Windows Media Player for PPC but that peace of software is in my opinion totally useless.
If we ignore its totally finger unfriendly skin and menus (i even made pretty good one finger friendly skin just to give that software a chance http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=634613) and the most stupidest way of making playlists, the most annoying is, if you didn't noticed, is that it fills up most of available program memory (on my device only 30mb is left free and it spend over 120mb) when one load dozens of mp3 files in player (via open file menu) !??? So i decided to tray with other audio players and the best of them for my needs were Nitrogen (which is free) and PocketMusicPlayer (it costs). But on my surprise wired headset buttons don't work with either of them and i can't find a solution to make them work.
I found app that made that possible on older devices (like Diamond and HD1)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498349
but they have wired headsets with only one button (play/pause/call) and wired headset on HD2 has three buttons (next, play/pause and previous button)...
It's to big project for me but i saw excellent developers on this forum so maybe one of them can make this idea to life...
What are your thoughts ??
Not an answer to your question, but since you said...

I have to point out that you really shouldn't be putting music on your device memory. That's what the storage card is for. That would solve your "most annoying" problem immediately!
Maybe you get me wrong with this. I tried to say that, for example, when i load folder with 50 mp3 files in Windows media player it somehow pre-cache those files and fill most of free mem of device (not STORAGE memory but PROGRAM memory). Files are of course physically located on storage card...
No interests for this topic !!??
No one wants to use its original wired earphones to listen music on Nitrogen or other non-default Sense audio player and to be able to controle it with earphones buttons...
