Please can someone help I want to transfer all my contacts to my new XDA2s and do not know how to do it
If you just sync to the same PC with outlook, this will be done automatically...
Contacts -> SIM
On the old XDA I, copy the Contacts to the SIM, put SIM in new XDA II, copy back from SIM to Contacts.
I typed this then noticed it was the XDA 1 and not 2 you had. I must have read to fast  Just incase it is of any use i will post it anyway
If for any reason you do not PC Sync then just beam them from one to the other. Just hold your stylus down on the first contact and drag it to the last contact then then take your stylus of screen. All the contacts should now be selected. Touch and hold any of the contacts with your stylus and from the pop up menu choose beam contact. Then point your infra red ports at each other and wait for the XDAIIs device to appear with Tap To Send next to it. Tap it. You will have to accept every contact one at a time on the XDAIIs but its just a single tap for each one

What is the easiesit way to get all of my contacts onto the SIM?
Sometimes, I leave my XDA II behind and use my SPV. I'd like to just swap SIMs and take the contacts with me.
Is there a quick way to do this?
Can the contacts be permantly on the SIM and still sync with ActiveSync?
Thanks in anticipation.
i believe that the sim manager does that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=10381&highlight=sim
here if your rom dont have it
otherwise i suppose you could enter contacts and open the keyboard and press ctrl a and choose all contacts and tab and choose save to sim
Thanks Rudegar. That worked.
Interestingly, with Radio Off it doesn't allow copying of the contacts the the SIM.
I've no idea why. Just seems a bit odd.
well if i go flight mode on and off
i have to retype my pincode so that could make one asume
that when it's off the whole sim is off
I have transferred all my contacts from my mobile phone SIM to my XDA
using the SIM manager. I have now updated my contacts on my XDA
adding addresses and other details.
If I want to transfer these updated contacts back to a SIM, what
details will go across to the SIM? Is it just name and telephone
number?
Thanks.
i think that what your cellphone can display as contact info is what the sim can hold infomationwise
sim contacts
Only the basic names and mumbers will be saved on sim.
If you want tho save the full addresses etc then you need to save your contacts file in full to your memory card, or to your PC. You can also save using backup.
You can also save them in outlook.
Its a real pain but the PDA looses everything but the basics if the battery goes down.
Hello,
I have a HTC Touch 3G which an emplyee needs to use as a pda only. So, he won't be using it as a phone. The pda synchronizes mail and calender items by air (MS Exchange direct push). Does anybody know how I can disable the phone function. Or how I can delete/hide the text Phone in the display in the menu bar at the bottom left on the display.
Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. I cannot remove the sim card because the phone needs to synchronize email and calender items using microsoft exchange direct push. The phone is only used as a pda which synchronizes these items over the air. The user may not make phonecalls with it.

then the second option!!!!!
or third or fourth!!!
I turnedthe phone off in Comm manager,
However, the text Phone is still displayed iin the left corner at the bottom of the main screen, or home screen however you call it. When I click it it says "the phone is switched off, would you like to turn it on?". So the user is still able to use it.
If that is the case, then ask your operator to place a barr on outgoing calls (not including data of course). You could do this on your phone but is easily reversable.
Doesn't help the OP but i know this is very easy to do on a BlackBerry attached to an Enterprise Server. A policy can be sent which disables the phone function but leaves everything else running.
Hi...
I have a bizarre problem with contacts in my smartphone. First, it shows me that i have contact on my SIM but my SIM is empty. Even when i change SIM and put empty another one, it shows me the same contact on that SIM. And bizarre is that i can't delete any contact. When i press delete SIM contact it ask me to continue with warning and then i press yes and nothing happen. Contact stay where it was. Jeyo Mobile Companion show that SIM is empty also.
Second thing is that when i press button contact on phone keyboard it doesn't show me any contact on phone (and when i copy them with Jeyo Mobile Companion on phone) it ask me to create new one?! And when i open Jeyo it show me contacts regularly.
Did you have similar problem and how did you solve it?
thank you
Hey guys, so i have a problem. I know that in the contacts I can hide all the repeated contacts, meaning the duplicates that show up from google, and t-mobile, and the ones on the SIM card. I have all my contacts linked thro HTC facebook. But when I go to the dialer or to send message it shows all my contacts, so some people show up 4 times!
Is there anyway to hide all the duplicate contacts in dialer and MMS, and secondly, when I receive a message from someone it shows their SIM contact which has no picture and their name as I put it in, and not as it has been "linked"
Thanks in advance!
I am on the same boat. Its annoying cause I only want the Google contacts. Mines has both synced T-Mobile backup and Google. Gonna reset the phone and remove the T-Mobile app before I sync anything and get back to u
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
I had this problem and it was unbelievably frustrating when I first got this and after a few days of searching and banging my head against the wall, I found something that worked.
This is how you solve it (or how I solved mine).
1: Sync everything to Google. Edit the contact list in google (use the automatic duplicate deletion), delete useless contacts etc.
2. Remove contacts from EVERYWHERE. Sim card, phone, uncheck google sync. Your phone should then be completely empty for contacts.
3. Re-sync with google contacts. if you want you can copy it back to the SIM and you shouldn't get doubles. I think I just left it with google only but the end result is I don't have 9 different "danny's" show up when I go to compose new message because I know three of them.
Ok great, I'll try that out.. When they gave me my phone, I told the employee at the store that I didn't want the tmobile contacts, and yet, she still set it up. I hope they fix these silly thongs with the update
Try this
I had the same problem, shows same contact more then 1 time. i resolved it this way
1) Go to Contacts (App)
2) Press Menu button (2nd touch button from left)
3) Select View
4) Now select (Check Mark) the contact you want to see. in my case i unchecked all option but Google and Facebook for HTC
5) Select done.
now it will only shows single entry for each contact
Thanks
