Hardware button re-programing - General Topics

Is there a chance to re-program any of the hardware buttons to display "Notification"? i.e. any incoming SMS or missed call? Or even a reminder!
I know that with Lakeridge Wisbar, it is possible to reprogram any of the icons up on the bar. Any reg. hack?

Removing 'E-mail' label for left soft key & Battery indicator

Hi
Is there anyway to remove the 'E-mail' label for the left softkey?
I tried using the registry hack on:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112
to change it to 'Messaging'. After the change, when I press the left soft key, I see both E-mail AND Messaging (highlighted) and I have to select it to launch Messaging. Can I get rid of E-mail completely so that with one key press I can launch Messaging?
In addition, is there a way to remove the battery indicator on the top task bar? Or maybe even replace it with the volume indicator?
I'd also like to know this.. can anyone help??

That only adds another menu item to the left softkey, it doesnt remove the email item. We want to completely get rid of the "Email" menu option
To the best of my understanding, the today screen softkeys are handled by a Palm specific program. As such, the ability to customize the function of the softkeys is quite limited. You may, however, be able to "kill" Palms handling of the softkeys and alter them as per other WM5 devices. (Downside to this is you lose the, IMHO, nice right softkey popup menu.)
Ingenious developers will most certainly find a way around this, but I don't imagine it will be as simple as a registry tweak.
Yep the menu button is a great addition by Palm.

How do I modify HTC dialing options?

I wasn't sure how to ask this so bare with me.
I have an ATT tilt with the HTC ROM on it. When I go to phone mode and am looking at my keyboard, I have the smartdialing box, the keypad and then three boxes upper-left side = LEFT ARROW (delete), VIDEO CALLING icon, and CALL LIST icon.
VIDEO calling doesn't work and I don't understand what those icons in the CALL LIST (are they received calls? Dialed calls?) are all about. I was wondering if I could switch what those three buttons do? I can't find any ability to change those in OPTIONS..
I suspect that further modification will require cabs or ROM updates?
I have imprecise fingers so the keypad is excellent- I don't want to change that at all.
Thanks guys
yeah.. me too flashed my 1 day old tilt with the htc stock rom... and the dialpad sucks..... no "CALL" button on screen....
Now have to use the keypad and fingers to dial a number and pressing the green call button to actually call... it was quite annoying at the beginning... but now I am gettin used to it.
Still if any registry editing could be done in order to remap the 3 buttons on the right hand side of the dial pad screen, it would be great....
Except for this option, the HTc stock ROM is gr8888888888 !!!!!!
anyone?
There has to be a way to play with the HTC dialpad?
Screen shots?
I like the default dialer.

ok I know this is a painfully dumb question but I've searched and can't find any solution. How do I edit my Kaiser's registry?
Thanks

change soft keys when receiving a call on the kaiser?

Hello....first off, thanx to Dutty. Been using dualtouch v3 rom on my att tilt and it works great. donation will be coming soon.
does anyone know how i can change what the soft key screen options are when i am receiving a call? currently my option are "silence" and "send text". am i able to change them to "answer" and "ignore"? I know i can do these things with the call and end buttons but its easier with the screen.
also, is there a way to make my soft keys light up when i am receiving a call? i thanx,
jacob
You need a matching dialer, but i cannot tell you, which one and where to get it. You might ask one of our chefs (ROM builder).

How about tapping down (or up/left/right) on the 5-way nav to make it light up?
I personally don't mind using the green/red buttons since it's SOO redundant to duplicate with the soft-keys also. It's somewhat more Treo-like also.
bump... did a search and couldn't find anything
I would like to know the answer as well? Does anybody know how to do it?
Me2..
.. glad to know I'm not the only one who's annoyed with the softkey option that comes with the touchdual. The dialer is awesome and I'm using it on my Tilt. I like the feature where it asks if I wish to save a first time answered number..
I'd like to get two "tweaks" for the DualTouch dialer..
1. The same as Jake where I'd like to switch the softkeys function while receiving a call during conversation.. to answer and ignore.. better still, i'd take conference and ignore, if thats possible.
2. I would like to have a conference button get automatically activated on the status screen where there are the six buttons that one can tap while in call. So, this way when I dial the third line to enable conferencing, I won't have to open the options softkey and then tap on the tiny conference option...
Hope I didn't sound twisted..
Tilt with Alex's WM6.1 Rom.

Check out the link below. Look for 'Change your soft keys' or something like that and see if that helps.

Eye candy

What do you guys use for eye candy?
PointUI + S2U2 = Yay
Original release of PointUI has no issues with battery or performance. New release of S2U2 solves a lot of previous problems with landscape orientation. I use S2U2 because it can lock the keys without reverting back to the home screen and hiding PointUI.
Slide using the d-pad, it unlocks and PointUI slides in for a nice smooth feel. It can also unlock the keys and run an application when you slide out the keyboard.
Once I find out how to fix the Caller ID issue with the Green/Answer call key not working, it will be superb.
How do you change the settings for S2U2? I can't seem to change anything...
You'll have to do it through the registry;
HKCU\Software\A_C\S2U2\
Let me know if you're able to answer calls using Caller ID with S2U2 and being able to answer a call, my green button won't work with S2U2.
I already deleted it.
It doesn't have anything extra over my screensaver from smarttools.
the PointUI is kinda nice, if only it could acces the startmenu from Home and if it had the same functionality for dialing contacts. Start typing the name of your contact and Home looks it up in your list. I use that a lot, i don't search for contacts...

InCall Lock - Lock Send/End buttons on incoming call
InCall Lock will temporarily disable Send (aka Talk, Green) and End (aka Red) hardware buttons when you receive an incoming call in order to prevent accidental call pickups/rejects while you are pulling your device out of your pocket. All other hardware buttons are untouched.
After you answer/reject your call the application will release the buttons, so you will be able to hang up, put calls on hold etc. using hardware buttons normally.
The application, after being launched, will remain resident in memory but will not use any CPU cycles at all as it relies on WM Notification system and doesn't do any polling. As it is using WM internal event system, it should work regardless of OS language, installed dialer etc.
This is a zero config application and has no options (yes, this is a feature). I personally needed an application that would do just this - temporarily block these buttons. If you need a device locker, try PocketShield or other available solutions.
How to use:
* Install attached cab
* Soft reset or launch "InCall Lock Toggle"
* To enable/disable InCall Lock temporarily, use InCall Lock Toggle in your Programs menu.
* To disable it permanently, just uninstall via Settings - Remove Programs

ALDAS this file is great, its simply what im looking for since 3 hours searching for solution to that problem. but this solution solve my problem 50% since the end key still working and able to hangup any received call. i appropriate it if you give me another file which can block both send and end keys.
im using HTC HD2
thanks for your help, that problem made me thinking to get rid of this phone.
sorry i meant fotone, thanks
Does this exist for android builds? I really want to disable the damned end (red) hangup on a call !
