Nigel
i've had this
http://www.directshopper.de/image/zoom/san/sandisk-cruzer-128-mb-sd-card-sdcz1-128-.jpg
for awhile it's basicly the same deal just a bit more bulky
i dont use it for my normal computer though after i got this
http://www.cyberphoto.se/sandisk/8in1.jpg
so now my cruzer is mainly for transfering data to my pda from other computers
I bought a cruzer about a year ago and I use it all the time for transferring data to SD card to and from XDA, laptop, desktop - I'd highly recommend it.

Hi all,
I am about to switch from Prophet to Polaris. One very annoying problem of the Prophet is the extremely slow USB transfer rate (I guess it supports USB 1.1 only) - I have to transfer large stuff to the memory card directly.
How does the Polaris perform in this respect?
Polaris work on usb 2.0.
Bye
If you are still interested (last weekend I had to transfer few files):
Tested with a 1GB Sandisk (was in package)
~0,5MB/s USB (Vista 64-Bit, 333MB moviefile transferred in 10:47min)
~100kb/s Bluetooth (Macbook OsX 10.4, 3MB moviefile)
so keep your cardreader
(Maybe the Sandisk isn't the fastest, but I believe that the phone restricts the transferrate. So USB 2.0 is just a marketing trick)

Damn, too bad So this means you cannot practically use your device as a USB stick with tools like CardExport...

If you buy a MicroSD card from Sandisk you get a USB cardreader as well.
This is the fastest method to transfer large files from a PC to your memory card.

That's exactly what I did an hour ago Still, it would have been much easier if I could transfer the data directly through the device...
Hi there, I'm thinking about picking up a Diamond when they come out in Canada in the next couple weeks. Was originally looking at an iPhone but in Canada that means a 3 year contract and there is no way I'm signing up for that. The one big sticking point for me on the Diamond is the 4GB memory and lack of expandable storage.
Now, the Diamond does have a USB port on the bottom. Yes I know it's not a standard USB, but there are a million adapters out there.
If I plug a standard USB memory card reader or USB drive into it, will the Diamond/Windows Mobile know what to do with it? Are there drivers available or built in? And assuming that Windows Mobile recognizes the device will music and video apps be able to play directly off the card?
Now, assuming all this works, what sort of battery life would I be looking at?
No, I'm not expecting to haul my media collection with me and most of the time the 4GB would be mroe than enough for day to day needs, but I do occasional travel and longer trips. It would be nice to take a couple 8 or 16 GB cards loaded with music and movies when I do.
Any tips you can give would be appreciated.
no, but you can use the Diamond as a USB drive
Ok I have an 8GB card for my Tilt but i just bought a 16GB card and I want to transfer my files from the 8gig to the 16gig. The problem is my pc (HP a230n) can't read either one of the cards. I know that it's because they are SDHC cards but I can't seem to find anything online that'll give my pc the capability to read them. Can anyone help me out?
how are you putting the cards into the pc
via a reader and adapter or maybe using the phones mass storage utility??
please enlighten us
The card came with an adapter so that's what I'm trying to use.
try using the phone as the reader u should get a pop up asking if you want to use as a usb mass storage device
hopefully the pc with then pickup the card
also try using on a different pc with both the adapter and the phones usb utility
I've done it that way before but it's a lot slower like that. I want the cards to actually work with the pc directly. Once I'm done transfering everything to the 16gig I'm gonna have the 8gig just sitting there so I figure I'd put it to use but it's kinda hard when I have to put it in my phone to use it.
I just finished transfering all my files to the 16gig through the phone but I would still like to be able to do it directly through my pc in the future.
then try and find a ppc tool thatll format the card
we know the ppc will pick it up but not the pc
THIS little bastard did the trick perfectly. No need for a firmware update.
job well odne then
some info first:
- have a Samsung B7610, also known as Omnia. Custom ROM on it, don't know a name or something anymore due to the fact I flashed it on a long time ago. OS is Windows Mobile 6.5.
- in the Samsung a micro-sd card of 8 Gb
- and a Asus TF101, more know as the Transformer
- for those interested: laptop is a HP 6730b. Came with Vista, installed W7 Ultimate 64-bit on it.
A while ago I lost the connection cable of my Samsung Omnia, and since the price for such a stupid cable is €5 or €6, I still don't have a new cable. (Dutchman eh )
Now I want to root my Transformer, described at AndroidRoot.mobi, but you need to have a SD-card plugged in the Transformer. Thing is, the Transformer doesn't pick up the SD-card. I tried formatting the SD-card in the Omnia, but that also doesn't work. My laptop doesn't have a micro-sd slot, so Im currently a bit out of options.
My laptop also doesn't recognize the sd-card while it is in the Transformer.
Im currently on vacation, and I really don't have a clue where I could buy a connection cable for my Omnia.
The SD-card works in the Omnia btw.
It's a complete book I typed, but it comes down to one question: anybody has an idea how I could format the sd card? (a)
Figured I'd share a neat little USB drive that I've been using for past devices and seems to work swell for the S6. This here is the product:
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-conne...446218&sr=1-1&keywords=sandisk+dual+usb+drive
Super light weight, transfer speeds are swift, and this drive even "locks" into your phone-port so the connection is super secure. I can upload some pictures to a gallery if anyone is interested as well. I use it over an OTG+USB any day.
This is off-topic, but I had just plugged in my spare PC HDD via OTG and it did in fact properly mount. WIth 500GB I don't think missing an SD card is a problem at all...

Does it work to do nandroid recovery?
It is a good tip to use these little drives as they have gotten very cheap. I store quite a bit of music on one that I have and it works great. I do use BSPlayer because it will recognize an OTG drive.
Regarding @sachs question, yes you can use one for Nandroids. Just be sure that you can mount it in TWRP.
or you could just buy an otg to usb cable and use nearly everything (also a usb hub for more devices)
https://www.amazon.com/Rankie-3-Pack-Female-Converter-Adapter/dp/B00YOX4JU6
i even used mymouse, keyboard and external hdds on my phone, but it would be better if it's formatted in fat32 or exfat and not ntfs.
OTG to USB is better.
This flash drive might not fir properly if you have a case on your phone
Just a trick, don't buy this.
The little plastic thing that let you move the port between USB-A and µUSB-B breaks easily and you must use a knife to force the thing to move
I've got one of these and I keep it handy for flashing, file transfers, all sorts.
The pictures don't do it justice. The micro USB side sticks out further than it looks. Fits all my phone's in cases with ease.
Currently have a UAG on my S6...
I have one of these. Nandroid backup works. Only problem is, the metal clip can break off. I got this to replace it:
