SanDisk 256Mb+WiFi (Of course not working) - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Accessories

Just recieved my 256Mb+Wifi sandisk SDcard. But not working. I looked at the sandisk website. MDAII NOT SUPPORTED!!!!.
This sucks..... But maybe someone has a fix to get it working.... Or is it hardware limited? It seems to start, (green led goes on) but nothing more.
Even the storage isn't recognized.
I even tried it in my XDAI. Wireless is dead, but the 256Mb is recognized.
Any hints would be nice.

As far as I am aware, it is not possible to get it working. My understanding is that Sandisk need to provide a version that does work with XDA/MDA II.

dcs is right...i was advised by my supplier not to buy one like that...they told me to buy wifi card without the storage instead

Firmware update
Does the new firmware that was released the other week rectify this? as when I tried installing the sandisk software it prompted me to overwritre newer files on my xda?

which firmware update is that? checked site tocday......
ive found some interesting stuff with this card on 2003SE. Under SE - the radio works! it constantly sends probes requests out (no ssid, chanel 0 ). If you use the app to turn radio off, u can then use the app to get ver info, power settings and add profiles. when the radio is on, the app is useless. I captured sum of the frames and they have the priism headers n all. So i really think that it is the utility not talkin to the driver properly...will keep trying and let u all know....

I am downloading the Pocket PC 2003 setup from the sandisk website and testing in on the 2.06 ROM. Will keep you guys posted on the results...

Sandisk PPC 2003 combo wifi drivers - Investigation Report
Investigation:
This set of drivers from the sandisk website is no good for the 2.06 ROM.
(a) It detects the storage as per the old 1.72 WM2003 ROM and requests for format, but it never did. However, when you detach the card, it does prompt you that the card was not formatted successfully.
(b) I attempt to initiate the wifi tools with Flight turned off and turned on. It refuses to detect the card.
(c) I cold reset the device with the card attached, and attempt to initiate the wifi tools with flight turned off and turned on again. It detected the card, launched the wifi tool and freezes.
(d) I uninstalled the SANDISK WIFI tools/drivers only and install Socket Wifi drivers. It didn't detect the combo card.
(e) To double-check that the Socket wifi drivers are working, I 've went ahead and inserted the 0MB Sandisk Wifi SD card only, and the Socket Wifi tools detected this card and allows Wifi connections.
Warning: The installation of the Sandisk drivers disabled detection of unother SD storage cards. Uninstallation didn't help. I've to hard reset and restore backups.
I've tested for the 2.06.00 WWE ROM installed on my XDA2 devices only. I would love to know if someone else has managed to get this combo card working! Many thanks to the gurus in this forum.

XDA II mini - Extended Rom
Yeah, checked extended rom, and files arent there, trying to narrow it down with files in windows folder.

someone with car working...NOT ON XDAII that is
hey,
going to try something else - can someone with the card working (on whatever device type) please have a squizz in their registry (or prog dir for .ini's or whatever) i cannot see anything (interesting) written in my reg and i have a suspicion that if we hak our correct config in there, the radio *might* pick it up. As i said previously - the radio works fine but as we cant use the utility to configure, it sends its probes out with ESSID: nul and chan: 0 .
i shouldnt say this, (false hope) but my XDA II did detect my local AP at one point, well - it said 'access point MY_ESSID found' or the like. good news, as i have never entered my essid into the device. of course a) didnt note config at the time (was super late) b) couldnt connect c) cant reproduce.
has anyone been able to read/format the memory? ad tip - write proctecting the card makes it more stable (seemingly).
i think that if we dont have someone on board to re-write either the Util/Driver/SD_Driver then we should start getting a petition to the vendors going - work arounds suck.......and i want to use stumbler

Seems that Sychip is the vendor that is producing the SD Wifi card, and not Sandisk nor Socket. I've news from various quarters that it's working on IMATE-JAM that has the souped up drivers, but Sychip is not releasing them officially yet.
Wonder if Mini has the same drivers as well?

Skype driving me mad!

I use skype on my XDA IIs and as I travel a lot I find it a cheap and easy way to chat to my kids.
The problem is that every time I turn on my phone or it gets any kind of message or connects to my wireless router to sync with my laptop I get the following message.
'cannot execute \storage card\skype technologies s.a. 1.0\skype.exe'
Thing is there's nowt wrong with the storage card, now I've uninstalled skype it still says that. I even bought SK Tools to try to rid myself of this but it remains and the damn thing means now I wake up to a flat battery every morning.
Can someone point me towards the file I have to edit to stop this and of course a suitable editor. I am guessing the initial problem was caused by me installing skype to the storage card.
Anyone?
hey! maybe you should look again into the "Notifiy Que" in SK Tools. Look attentively at every entry there and remove everything that has got to do with skype.
Alternatively you may reinstall skype, do softrest (take attention not to run the skype app after restart!) and uninstall skype again via SK Tools --> Uninstall App

Quappo
The PDA2k seems to be slow in initially picking up the Storage Card on a power on.
People who use MP3 ringtones from their Storage card have the same access problem.

The SD drivers are known to be slow at both reset and power on, there is a definate lag - this is documented by WebIS (the Pocket Informant people) and Spb Software House. It is recommended that anything the can be considered a system service or which interacts with the Today screen be installed to the Main Memory.

Spectec Wi-Fi card problem-again!

Hi all,
I have a Spectec Wi-fi card and to cut it short IT DRIVES ME CRAZY! It works fine in the morning and does not in the evening; it works fine when I do not need it and it stops working when I desperately in need of it. I have tried every single thing that was published on this forum and also xda-developers. Here is the list that I can remember:
1) The plugin plugout sequence solution
2) The original driver came with the card
3) The driver on the spectec web site
4) Flashing my Himalaya again
5) Different wireless networks
6) Resetting my modem at home
7) Throwing the card to the wall (no damage done unfortunately!)
I have an mdaII with tofclock 2.03.64WWE installed. The card cannot dedect the wireless modem and when I define it with the name and details it gives the f#@##@ unavailable message. Does any one has any idea what to do?
All the best

Spectec Driver
I may be your saviour!
I emailed spectec a while back (a year ago now!) as I had the same problems you said. They emailed back within a week with an updated driver just for me!
And where is this magical driver I hear you ask? Why... it's attached to this post!
Hope this helps,
zing
thanx zingit
the driver that you have sent seems exactly the same as they have on their web site... anyways i will try it and let u know..

Does Garmin Mobile XT SD card work on Diamond

I have found many people that say their GMXT works on Diamond but I am not sure if they are using the DVD version or the SD card version. Obviously you would need to do something to get it off ot the SD card but are any of you doing this and if so what do you have to do?
Thanks DHATW.
I quess this is really a software question (was thinking bluetooth=accessory). I will repost in software.
Yes it works, but you have to push the SD-cart really hard to get it in
... but seriously i'm pretty sure, have some downloaded stuff which orginates from a card and its working fine
Thanks, but how do you do it? Garmin says you can't do it. I know it has been done but am looking for the how.
Dude you can download it. But its not free. Although there are always ways. I have it running on mine just fine.
You can download directly from garmin:
https://buy.garmin.com/shop/store/downloadsUpdates.jsp?product=010-11034-00&cID=138&pID=11413
But you need license key to activate to use with internal GPS.
Okay maybe I'm misunderstanding something. I have the SD card version running on my HTC Touch right now. I spoke to Garmin and they told me they do not have a solution for the Diamond about a month ago. I have already downloaded 5.00.20 for my Touch. When you do it looks for the SD card on the phone. I am not looking for free software. I just want to know how I can run the existing solution (SD card or purchase DVD) on my next phone (my wife has already let me know I am getting one for Christmas-that's if Rogers ever gets it) the Diamond. I realize there are always ways but I am not one of those guys that believes everything should be free. I just want a reliable, updateable and Garmin supportable version that works.
I know CoPilot 7 has a North American version that is made for the Diamond but I have been a Garmin fan for a long time.
Thanks, DHATW.
works for me
hi
i found a totourial i the net, bought garmin xt for win mobile, and i works
you have to conenct your diamond as external harddisc --> you could install gamin XT
after installation i copyied all files from the SD-card to the storage on diamond
at last you have to generate keys for the internal gps-receiver (and overwrite SWL.UNL and for the serial of the internal storage of your phone
if you look a littel bit around you will find a helpful tool from jet mouse...
andreas
Quite easy
I bought a Diamond Touch with the Garmin XT software. ( And unlock code)
The previous owner hard reset the phone to wipe out his entries,
All I did was sync the phone, copy all the files from the SD card into the expanded memory of the phone, and opened the install software from thre phone.
You have to enter the unlock key and the device then connects and sends a SMS to confirm sucessfull installation. (Or something like that)
Hey, I am no genius, but I worked it out, as I knew the program was installed before.
Thanks Basilrsa, I will try that when I get my Diamond. Maybe all the other instructions were for people that did not have a "legal" copy of GMXT.
Thank you again.
I'm trying to install Garmin Mobile XT by copying the files from the SD card to my internal storage, the phone recognises it and installs and runs it OK.
The problem I have is that the internal GPS is not detected and it just keeps searching bluetooth then attached gps constantly (the progress bar on attached GPS goes about half way and the bluetooth only goes quarter way so I think it is partially detecting).
It is a legal boxed SD card from Garmin that worked on the Touch Cruise and I just want to transfer to this phone. I don't want to run any Keygen exe's on my computer, has anyone found another way of getting the internal GPS to be detected?
I did try it in a good reception area and verified this using CameraAware.
hi
afaik garmin uses two files for licensing:
one with a key for the sd card and one for gps receiver
both were generated on a hardware serial of card and receiver
--> i think there is no way to get garmin working without using new license files
greetings
dopsi
Hi
I am not too sure if you can reinstall the Garmin XT software on another device.
The licence is for installation on a single device. When you register it looks for this device identification.
Maybe if you are trying to install on a different device, it will not release to software to operate.
I think you may have to contact Garmin and discuss it with them.
But, XT does install on the Diamond - mine works fine!
But hey, you had better get a car charger as it sucks the battery dry in no time.

I'll try to get another Activation code from Garmin and hope they don't ask what device it is. I'll post here once I have done and let you know what they said or if it works.

It looks like the GPS receiver costs £67 from Amazon (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000TSJV58/incomp-1-130534-21/ref=nosim) but I wouldn't buy it anyway as I bought a phone with in-built GPS so I didn't have to carry 2 devices.
I think it's safe to say Garmin will not be getting any more money from me and I'd rather buy something else. I just wish tomtom would release a diamond version 7 in UK. I've heard bad reports about CoPilot so don't really want to spend the money on that to find it is bad.
Garmin XT. - Garmin's comments.
Hi Kevlah,
" So, what we do here is when we load the data to the preloaded
> card we unlock the maps to the unit ID of that card, what this means is
> that the data cannot be copied to the phones internal memory or another
> card as the other format will have a different or no unit ID"
I cannot agreed with the above statement as I transferred all the files to my Diamond's ext memory and opened the installation program from there.
I am not sure now which file I used but I had to try a few.
I had to enter the supplied unlock code and later a SMS was sent with the GPS unlock code. I did not have to enter that.
Then, it worked!
But as I said in my post it was a reinstallation on my phone.

WMWifiRouter 1.3 & xv6700 issues

I am trying to get wmwifirouter 1.3 to work on my verizon xv6700 (wm 5). It connects to my data network fine but when i check my wifi it doesnt give me a ip address and wont surf. Is there a setting i am missing. I didnt see anything on their site that would help me
just asking... did you check for compatibility?
yes its compatible
All i can suggest is that you ask Chainfire what to do.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1949360&postcount=644
see? chainfire can solve everything
i will try it when i get home. can i ask whats the reason it will work on the device and not the card.....i mean whats the big difference
The ICS cab installs a service/driver. At the time in the boot process this loads (which is really early) it is possible the SD card driver is not loaded yet (and hence, fail). Also when your system is running it could pose problems if you remove the SD card. It wont crash your system probably but weird things may occur until you reset your device with the SD card inserted. This is normal behavior for services/drivers.
ok... i put the file on my card but i was trying to install it on my device but it didnt give me a option to do that. So question is where did it save and where can i go look for it to see where it installed. I also did a reset and ran the wmwifirouter software and it still didnt connect. Should i also install wmwifirouter on my phone also because right now its installed on my card
so i tried uninstalling wmwifirouter and installing it on my phone alone with the cab file and it still isnt working. is there some settings that needs to be set that its not telling us about
help !!! bump !!!
i notice it says it has to be " Windows Mobile 5 AKU 3.3 " .... what does this have in it that a regular wm5 dont???

USB to PC connection missing and Wifi problems

I have searched extensively and can't find answers that work for me.
I have tried several of the latest 6.5.1 and 6.5.3 roms on my Wing (which is HardSPL'd) and almost all of them have the same issues:
1) My USB to PC icon is gone in Settings\Connections. Did MS move it somewhere else? I'm having Activesync issues and think this is why, but can't change the "advanced network setting."
2) Wifi... I tap on it to turn it on or off, and more than half the time, nothing happens. It'll either stay on, or stay off. Ideas?
I had some of the same issues with some older 6.5 roms as well. Do I need to update/downgrade some of the individual device drivers or something? I'm at a loss.
Thanks, and sorry if this repeats anyone else's posts.
I am also having similar issues. I HardSPLed my wing and after I did that successfully I decided to update my wing with SIMPLY EVERYTHING 6.5.1 BUILD 23616 so I flashed it on my wing. It's installed fine and is working but now my wing doesn't connect via active sync to my PC (same PC i used to HardSPL my wing and flash this build). The USB cable is connected firmly as it does charge my phone, just fails to connect the phone with the PC via active sync.
I would really appreciate if someone can either provide a fix for this issue on this thread or tell us a way to somehow flash the device with another ROM (from storage card somehow).
Thanks in advance.
Sort of solved...
This is the one I found that works best on my Wing:
Search forums for "Illconcepts Current Projects" (won't let me post a link)
(the 28014 Titanium at the top of the page)
It is flashed from SD card like most are now (nice!).
Occasionally (usually after soft reset) the first time I try to turn on wifi it will fail to start the wifi, but it works after that until next soft reset. Have had no connection issues with ActiveSync.
Big plus of this rom is that it's fast, is lean and leaves lots of program space. I added Office and such, but on the SD card, so I can still run Skyfire (just about every other rom I tried didn't have enough program memory free to consistently run Skyfire after I installed all my standard programs).
Only down side I see (if this is one?) is that it has old PIE, not newer version, and PIE doesn't work properly at all. Only problem this has caused me is making it difficult to download/install java apps easily, as Opera Mini always seems to give me "invoke errors" when I try to download files, and since Skyfire only seems to be detected as a "full" browser, it won't pull up mobile versions of most sites, thus won't get access to the java app links, etc. Would be nice to hear of a solution for this (preferably how to fix Opera Mini's "Opera Invoke Error")
i guess this wil help u all coz it worked for me

all you guys just need to open network cards under connections in settings. just tap the Sdio wlan wirelss adapter and then select name servers and copy the dns and alt dns as the same as in your desktops. Select ok and restart your phone..
it should work just fine...
all the best..
uh...no...
Doesn't have anything to do with DNS settings. DNS settings doesn't affect whether or not the wifi card turns ON or OFF. It affects connections. This is different, dude.
