T-Mobile MDA II Car Basic Kit - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Accessories

Does anyone have experience with this T-Mobile carkit?
Ik read a review somewhere (cant recall where) thatthis kit:
1. Has a RJ11 GPS connection that links to COM1 for use with a TomTom or Leadtek GPS mouse
2. Sends both Phone and PDA audio thru the carkit speaker
I want to know:
a. Can anyone confirm this?
b. Does this kit have an audio-mute to connect to my in-car stereo?
Regards,
Joost

Hre someone else who would like to know.
Afaik the Expansys zarkit doesn't give PDA audio through the speaker, only Phone....
[/i]

Another interesting "alternative":
The price of a genuine O2 XDA II carkit seems to have dropped in Germany:
http://www.telido.de/produkt.asp?products_id=29391
Now for 137 euro (ex shipping) !!!
This one is supposed to do everything it should do (according to some australian websites):
pda audio
gsm audio
gps-mouse connector
audio mute
I asked Telido some questions just to be sure . . .

Anyone know how to buy one in the netherland, or to have an shop to send it to me ? I don't have a creditcard...

Dear Jpiek,
You can order this from via internet and then go and collect it from a pick up point in Germany .....and pay cash . I collected my from Gronau.
Mine works great!

So far so good.
I will give an update when I know whats exactly in the box.

edsup,
why didn.t you trie the new Yeti carkit they sell in holland. see the specifications in dutch en the url to a site where you can order:
Yeti Handsfree carkit voor de Qtek2020
http://www.i-con.nl/pd1421989805.htm?categoryId=39

Its quite simple: Until today I did not notice the Yeti solution.
It does look very nice
BUT the price difference between the kit I have now and the yeti is more than 110 euro!!
Apparently the kit I bought from telido looks very much like the Expansys i-mate kit (which also costs approx 250 euro!!)

Sounds good, but drive all the way to Germany ? I'm in Rotterdam

Got it!
Although the box nor the manual mention 'O2', the contents is exactly like I saw on some australian sites that also claim to sell the original O2 carkit.
On the other hand: The cradle looks VERY much like the i-mate carkit as sold by Expansys . . .
The kit for sure is different from the T-Mobile one.
Contents:
Cradle with RJ11 GPS connector, GSM-antenna connector
Blackbox
Speaker
Mic
GSM-antenna (with moulded wire, so seems to be useless)
Manual
It supports easy and complex wiring:
- Just use the speaker
- Use speaker with car-audio mute
- Use car-audio speakers with car-audio mute
What I need now is
- GPS mouse with RJ11 (or better: PS/2 o RJ11 converter cable)
- Dashmount or pro-clip
Following some info on the RJ11 6-wire GPS connector:
RJ-11 pinout:
1. NC
2. +5V
3. RX
4. TX
5. GND
6. NC
It's RS232 COM1 in XDA II
You can use any other RS232 GPS receiver too
Just find GND and the +5V UCC on the RJ-11 pins - you will know the rest.
Remember to connect RX of your GPS receiver with TX on the carkit connector and vice versa.
It should pe possible to make a converter myself.

Car Kit for Diamond?

Hello, has anyone seen the original HTC car kit, made by Herbert Richter, for Diamond? I wish to buy one cos I had one for my Touch cruise and it's very good in quality.
Cheers!
something like it
looks nice.
now to find someone who sells them
I bought the Gripper 3 from HR Richter with holder Global 9
I now have a E-ten M700 with original holder, the back and sides of the phone now have scratches because of the holder.
So if you want to protect you're phone against scatches buy a universal holder,
and every time you buy another phone you don't have to buy another holder.

Linda, this is what we call BAD timing from a manufacturer point of view.
Your team's were not aware about this upcoming product
It would take me 10 days to make a mold in Guangzhou, so I guess you're having other issues @ brodit no?
So, Proclip, or holdmyphone.com will neither obtain the holder as they buy from Brodit SE ?
I paid 106 USD for a Brodit Honda CRV clip + holder for my TytnII, and I do not complaint about the fricking price for 2 pieces of plastic , but at least I and many others hope on a good - quick - service.
Just my two cents.
I've the Universal carkit of HTC. I sale him. So contact me with a pm!!

Guys,
This Herbert Richter holder comes without the arm right?
Can this holder be used with the arm that comes with the P3300/Cruise? (It's from Germany, and I don't know the name)
Coz I have P3300 arm which I used for the Cruise as well (just changed the holder). Really good arm, and I wish to continue using it with the diamond.
Thanks!

I asked Kidigi and make an order directly from them. It was 60 USD with delivery and Euro charger (about 46 euros). The original from Expansys costs 59 euros and from Clove 51 euros. Let's see when it comes. Not cheep one, but it looks good and there are power, usb and headset sockets.
I thought Kidigi only sell their products in volume ? Do you order only 1 unit of the cradle from Kidigi direct ?

But the original doesn't charge a spare battery, which while it looks nice, is a let down.

Not true, there the cradle costs with taxes and delivery € 52,26. You have always count the total cost, the advertised price is not the whole truth.
The original has less connectors, uses the original charger etc. The original charger looks nice, but the shape doesn't suit well with other chargers in the same splitter.
If you buy the HTC Travel charger with the cradle, the total is € 67,34, I paid € 45,68. So?

Ik zie niet in waarom niet, de meeste schade die dit soort imitatie apparaten aanrichten is daar waar de connectie word gemaakt oftewel het stekkertje aan de telefoon, dan neem je gewoon de originele kabel.

In your case, but NOT in my case. I have to count all the costs, which I pay to get the cradle home. After all that I got the Kigidi cheaper from them than any original from anybody. It's just useless to compare your situation to my situation. I'm not going to fly to the Netherlands to get the cradle without 15 euros delivery costs.
Of course Kigidi has their own charger and of course I can get general charger cheaper than the original, but if I buy the original cradle, why should I then buy a cheapo charger? If you like to know, I have an iGO charger, which offers the best flexibility to charge any small device anywhere just changing the tips (two at same time). I have tips for the HTC, Nokia, TomTom, Sony Ericsson, etc. I don't know what you wanted to suggest behind the non-working link (and I don't even care).
In my opinion you get most features with less money when you buy a Kidigi Diamond Deluxe Cradle, that's the reason why I'm gonna get one.
There is no reason to continue with comparision to the original cradle. They are as far from each other as the original TF3D is from the TF3D with XDA extensions.

If you like to compare the TF3D and the one with XDA extension like the original and the Kidigi than you sugest that the TF3D with XDA extension is beter, do you realy mean this? If so you can compare than the cheapo cradle aswell with the Kidigi and original and to your opinion the cheapo can even become the best buy.

My Diamond with SecondToday, TodayAgenda, extra tabs, tweaks, colors etc makes the phone much more usable than the version out of the box. With some extensions from XDA I'll can use the phone with localized views. There is NOT a finnish WinMO from HTC. There is some localized views in the phone, but HTC doesn't offer any way to get them in use, XDA forums does. HTC has no daring to compete with Nokia in Finland.

The Kidigi is not a cheapo cradle, it is much more flexible than the original. That was my reason to choose it. Who has made the original cradle? HTC itself, I doubt it, it comes from some OEM manufacturer.
The HTC Shop offers Herbert Ripper Car holder. In your way the Ripper must be the best because it is from HTC. Not true, I have the Brodit holder which is designed for Diamond with same power, usb and headset connections as the Kigidi has. The Brodit is just the best car holder, there is no rival for it.
In my case, decisions which I have done, suits just perfecly to me and all the money I have used, it's all my money. Maybe you have other values to choose, their are up to you.
This conversation is now merely offtopic, it is time to end it here. Life is...

Yes, it is freshly added into Brando webshop. The cradle offered in Brando are all from Kidigi, and have waited for this deluxe cradle to be hosted in its webshop. In Expansys you may find the same Kidigi cradle for Touch Pro but Expansys renames it to Expansys deluxe cradle. Other cradle are all from Kidigi but Expansys does not use this name only. Therefore Brando will be a better place to deal with since you buy it with better price than Expansys with the same cradle from OEM Kidigi. This time Expansys has not offer Kidigi deluxe cradle for Diamond.
I hope so since I also attach 1340 mAh extended battery with my Diamond and it is more or less similar thickness with US version. I have tried Touch Pro cradle and it cannot synchronize with host pc but only charging. Anyway I prefer this than the HTC one since it provides spare battery slot and AC plug. I may use it with original 900 mAh battery or to see whether Diamond with extended battery may be inserted into the slot or not. Perhaps I may remove the battery cover when synchronization.
I'm keeping an eye on this too.
I want to see if it will fit the Sprint Diamond.
I have the Igonemobile dock which I like just fine.
This one does look better though.
So if anyone does try the Sprint Diamond with this dock please let us know how it goes.

Cheap Android Tablet (Update: SCAM!)

I don't know if anybody is still looking for a cheap Android Tablet (for reading ebooks, comics etc.), but I just ordered the following 7" tablet from eBay for just 17€ (23$)!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220813246231
The seller doesn't have any feedback yet so it might be a scam, but we have PayPal protection and for just 17€ it's well worth the risk imho
Turned out to be a scam after all.. Got this e-mail from eBay:

We raden u af de transactie verder af te ronden. Aankopen die via eBay worden gedaan, maar die vervolgens buiten eBay om worden afgerond zijn zeer riskant. Ze vallen niet onder de eBay Kopersbescherming en zijn zeer gevoelig voor fraude.
PHP:
We are writing to inform you that the next offer, which you have supplied has been removed:

We do not recommend further to complete the transaction. Purchases through eBay are done, but then outside of eBay to be completed very risky. They are not covered by the eBay seller and are highly vulnerable to fraud.
Heh, I might have to try out one of those myself

[Q] USB Type: V8 Connector?

A while back, while searching for higher quality Micro USB cables that would reliably charge the phones and devices used by everyone around me, because I somehow became responsible for that. Anyway. I ran across USB cables with a longer micro USB head that allows a good solid connection even with a case.
At first I thought it was a gimmick, I wasn't sure there was anything special about these cables at all, but after I received these USB cables and compared the ends to standard run of the cables, I found that the micro USB heads were in fact longer, by around 1/8in. This little bit of length made all the difference in the world on my Note 3 with a hybrid case. My phone charged reliably every time I plugged it in. The seller I bought them from had them priced dirt cheap (which i later found out was an error on their part), so I ordered more, 3x5 packs. They proved to be a big hit with my family, friends and customers, I went thru those 3 5 packs in no time flat, when I went to reorder them, instead of being $1.99 FOR 5, they were $12.99 for 5.
So I started looking for other sellers and I noticed that each seller called the cables something different, but I started to notice that amongst the OEM's in china they were calling them USB V8 connectors and it was consistent across all of the Chinese and Hong Kong based OEM's. But the US based resellers and retailers didn't seem to follow that naming scheme, I'm finding all sorts of micro USB cables labeled as V8 cables by US sellers.
I've been researching the origin of the name USB V8 and have come up with nothing what so ever. There is nothing on the official USB Implementers Forum OR USB.org regarding this naming scheme. I'm hoping someone here has some information about what USB V8 is all about, if so please share...
It's a Chinese thing
As you mention in the USB standards, there is no V8 standard or anything similar. My theory is that this V8 thing is a name convention that cheap Chinese manufacturers use and they popularised, it's not official in any way. You only see the V8 name in cheap generic cables, not original OEM Ones.

Back then in 2007, a little ways before the OMTP convinced manufacturers to all start using the same standard and micro usb was choosen for this, China was already selling chargers for phones, and usually labeling their products by the leading model for said connector, say, a few nokia devices would use a certain same connector, but they would sell you a charger for the Nokia "3310", regardless of brand, you would be looking for a 3310 charger, knowing beforehand it would work for your Nokia non-3310 device.
Now, on the same style, the first popular mobile device to use the Micro USB connector, was in fact, the Motorola RAZR V8.
that's it, that's where the name comes from, no other mystery around it, the chinese already had an internal system of what to call the connector before anyone and anything set their thoughts on it, so they just kept on using it, if aint broken, why fix it?
on the same note, you'll also find the Mini USB head is also called a "V3 Connector", due to the Motorola RAZR V3, which was also the most popular mobile device using the Mini USB standard.
Thank you Nostev. I was trying to buy a charger online in Mexico and the seller said it would only fit my Y9s "if it's a V8". I was confused by the name as well, and no info on the V8 anywhere but here - GRACIAS.
Now, just to clarify: Is the tip of the chinese type-C "V8" actually -longer- that a regular Type C? Because I just took apart a generic cable and some of the tip was hidden by the plastic cover (not 3cm like his, mine is 2cm tops), which makes me wonder if the OPs "longer-tip" connectors where just regular ones with thinner plastic.

This might or might not be of use: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7RngLHCZ5w
yea ive found that video and it currently sits at the top of my "might be useful" videos.
thanks for sharing, though im still hoping someone can share some personal experience and/or a guide that somehow google cant find.
This is exactly for idol3 ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWmuVFr8iGI ... but it seems that the replacement is not an easy task.
Looks like it pops right off. I don't think you need to disassemble the whole phone. I think the video is a complete tear down. It does however look like the digitizer and screen are one piece. I've heard its very hard to separate the digitizer and screen on other phones with fused units.

I think that the phone needs to be completely disassembled. Watch again, one of the connectors for the display is at the back side of the mainboard. The other cable for the display/digitizer is under the battery. Plus the glass will needs to be heated in order to be separated from the body.

I got the same answer from ANOVO. I also asked to the company in charge of Alcatel repairs in Germany, they gave a price of 115€ (all charges included) and told that the phone could be repaired in one day.

I just dropped my phone and smashed the screen and it no longer is responding to touch. The phone is less than two months old and I feel sick that I just watched it fall and break.
Has any progress been made with replacing only the digitizer? I've ordered a replacement, and I'm seriously worried about not being able to use it The phone is only about a week old.
new option on aliexpress
Find new alternative for LCD digitilazer assembly
look for Alcatel OT 6045 LCD assembly
in aliexpress

I have send mine to anovo for replacement
Waiting for return

Hi Tim, did you change touch on you phone? If you did, how did you separate screen from digitizer?
