A while back, while searching for higher quality Micro USB cables that would reliably charge the phones and devices used by everyone around me, because I somehow became responsible for that. Anyway. I ran across USB cables with a longer micro USB head that allows a good solid connection even with a case.
At first I thought it was a gimmick, I wasn't sure there was anything special about these cables at all, but after I received these USB cables and compared the ends to standard run of the cables, I found that the micro USB heads were in fact longer, by around 1/8in. This little bit of length made all the difference in the world on my Note 3 with a hybrid case. My phone charged reliably every time I plugged it in. The seller I bought them from had them priced dirt cheap (which i later found out was an error on their part), so I ordered more, 3x5 packs. They proved to be a big hit with my family, friends and customers, I went thru those 3 5 packs in no time flat, when I went to reorder them, instead of being $1.99 FOR 5, they were $12.99 for 5.
So I started looking for other sellers and I noticed that each seller called the cables something different, but I started to notice that amongst the OEM's in china they were calling them USB V8 connectors and it was consistent across all of the Chinese and Hong Kong based OEM's. But the US based resellers and retailers didn't seem to follow that naming scheme, I'm finding all sorts of micro USB cables labeled as V8 cables by US sellers.
I've been researching the origin of the name USB V8 and have come up with nothing what so ever. There is nothing on the official USB Implementers Forum OR USB.org regarding this naming scheme. I'm hoping someone here has some information about what USB V8 is all about, if so please share...
It's a Chinese thing
As you mention in the USB standards, there is no V8 standard or anything similar. My theory is that this V8 thing is a name convention that cheap Chinese manufacturers use and they popularised, it's not official in any way. You only see the V8 name in cheap generic cables, not original OEM Ones.

Back then in 2007, a little ways before the OMTP convinced manufacturers to all start using the same standard and micro usb was choosen for this, China was already selling chargers for phones, and usually labeling their products by the leading model for said connector, say, a few nokia devices would use a certain same connector, but they would sell you a charger for the Nokia "3310", regardless of brand, you would be looking for a 3310 charger, knowing beforehand it would work for your Nokia non-3310 device.
Now, on the same style, the first popular mobile device to use the Micro USB connector, was in fact, the Motorola RAZR V8.
that's it, that's where the name comes from, no other mystery around it, the chinese already had an internal system of what to call the connector before anyone and anything set their thoughts on it, so they just kept on using it, if aint broken, why fix it?
on the same note, you'll also find the Mini USB head is also called a "V3 Connector", due to the Motorola RAZR V3, which was also the most popular mobile device using the Mini USB standard.
Thank you Nostev. I was trying to buy a charger online in Mexico and the seller said it would only fit my Y9s "if it's a V8". I was confused by the name as well, and no info on the V8 anywhere but here - GRACIAS.
Now, just to clarify: Is the tip of the chinese type-C "V8" actually -longer- that a regular Type C? Because I just took apart a generic cable and some of the tip was hidden by the plastic cover (not 3cm like his, mine is 2cm tops), which makes me wonder if the OPs "longer-tip" connectors where just regular ones with thinner plastic.

I don't know if anybody is still looking for a cheap Android Tablet (for reading ebooks, comics etc.), but I just ordered the following 7" tablet from eBay for just 17€ (23$)!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220813246231
The seller doesn't have any feedback yet so it might be a scam, but we have PayPal protection and for just 17€ it's well worth the risk imho
Turned out to be a scam after all.. Got this e-mail from eBay:
PHP:
We schrijven u om u te informeren dat de volgende aanbieding, waarop u heeft geboden, werd verwijderd:
220813246231 - NEW 7" ANDROID TABLET PC NETBOOK LAPTOP UMPC MID CAMERA
PHP:
We are writing to inform you that the next offer, which you have supplied has been removed:
220813246231 - NEW 7 "ANDROID TABLET PC LAPTOP NETBOOK UMPC MID CAMERA
We do not recommend further to complete the transaction. Purchases through eBay are done, but then outside of eBay to be completed very risky. They are not covered by the eBay seller and are highly vulnerable to fraud.
Heh, I might have to try out one of those myself
The screen doesn't look so great though, you can see the finish is somewhat dull..
Would be nice to have just for letting the girl friend read when she comes over

wow thanks for letting us know.

thanks!
This might or might not be of use: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7RngLHCZ5w
yea ive found that video and it currently sits at the top of my "might be useful" videos.
thanks for sharing, though im still hoping someone can share some personal experience and/or a guide that somehow google cant find.
This is exactly for idol3 ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWmuVFr8iGI ... but it seems that the replacement is not an easy task.
Looks like it pops right off. I don't think you need to disassemble the whole phone. I think the video is a complete tear down. It does however look like the digitizer and screen are one piece. I've heard its very hard to separate the digitizer and screen on other phones with fused units.

I think that the phone needs to be completely disassembled. Watch again, one of the connectors for the display is at the back side of the mainboard. The other cable for the display/digitizer is under the battery. Plus the glass will needs to be heated in order to be separated from the body.

I just dropped my phone and smashed the screen and it no longer is responding to touch. The phone is less than two months old and I feel sick that I just watched it fall and break.
Has any progress been made with replacing only the digitizer? I've ordered a replacement, and I'm seriously worried about not being able to use it The phone is only about a week old.
new option on aliexpress
Find new alternative for LCD digitilazer assembly
look for Alcatel OT 6045 LCD assembly

Hi Tim, did you change touch on you phone? If you did, how did you separate screen from digitizer?
im looking for some battery cases to buy. are they worth it? like they do add bulk to the beautiful s6
and if you know some good ones please give me links
(Excuse my english)
Personally, I hate battery cases. They add bulk to the phone, and a compromise in protection (compared to lifeproof or otterbox). I carry external battery so I have the flexibility to charge my tablet and friends phones on a trip. Much more versitile, and has much bigger capacity.
yes its worth

It's interesting you hate the bulk of battery cases. I've thought about getting one just for that! The s6 is so small in my hand.

Hey guys. Do any of you ever had to replace OP6's battery?
I'm trying to find an OFFICIAL battery for it and I came across this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33025696222.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.5d262e0eKoCbq9
I'm not sure wheter it's original or fake... What do you think? Also feel free to recomend other places to buy it as well.
Thanks a lot
On OnePlus support site battery replacement is priced at 8€. Add shipping and labour costs. I think it's the best option.

I'm sorry to steal this post, but can we replace the battery of OnePlus 6 with the one in Oneplus 6T for the extra 400mah?
Thanks in advance.
Não não podes. Ligações diferentes.
No you can`t.
I buy 2 batteries + isolation water here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBN7Tc7J6W4
Seller told me they are originals.
Obrigado! Sendo assim vou comprar antes a original e aproveitar e meter a parte traseira transparente
Thank you, if that's the case, i'll just buy the original one and once i''m there i'll make the back cover see through
Hi, I'm really struggeling between 2 head units, because I have no idea if what they claim are genuine. The HU are those two:
€ 338,51 48% dto. | TEYES-reproductor Multimedia CC3 para coche Opel Astra K 2015-2019, Radio, vídeo, navegación GPS, estéreo, Android 10, No 2 din, DVD

€ 152,55 35% dto. | Reproductor Multimedia con Android 12 para Opel Astra K, pantalla de Monitor de coche, Lettore, autorradio, navegación GPS, TV, Radio estéreo, 2015 - 2019
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EHpq87X
First one is perfect but doesn't have 2k screen
The second one is more expensive but I doesn't inspire trust as is the only one with 2k screen and android 12...
What info are you not sure about? The claim of Android 12?
The 1st unit is a Teyes CC3. I would guess most of their info is genuine.
The 2nd unit might be Android 12. There certainly are genuine Android 12 head units out there, just not made by FYT.
I can't see anywhere on the page listing that says any technical info like what CPU is in the heat unit.
To me it does not appear to be an FYT unit so it might be Android 12 but that's just an educated guess.
I just don't want to make a dumb purchase, I want to hear opinions from more educated users, should I go for that 2k?
There are no real brands. Avoid Teyes.
A a unit you like and ask seller for pictures of Android head unit to know what you are ordering and ability to dispute if not sent the expected unit.
Read the find forums and find out....
