Hi folks,
Last week I purchased a Seiko Smartpad 2 for my XDA II. I noticed someone else on xda-developers said they had got it working but I can't on mine.
Seiko Tech support told me I should be using the COM1 port in InkNote Mgr. However my xda says the port is in use by another app. If I try COM2 they appear to talk to one another ie. it says it is connected and battery status is ok. However the X/Y coordinates stay blank and nothing appears on the screen.
I do have TomTom installed so could this be grabbing COM1 or is there something else I need to look at.
hope someone can help.
cheers
Russ.
Go to settings/connections/beams and make sure the receive incoming beams is turned off. TomTom should only grab the port when it is running and will only use COM 1 when using a wired gps receiver.

Hi folks:
I wanted to gather experience on Bluetooth on the XDA II. How well does it work? Impressions with the Jabra headset seem to be mixed according to one of our forums.
But what about other BT devices? What have you tried and how well has it worked?
Thanks in advance,
Fernando
Do a look through this forum but
It doesn't work currently with a BT GPS device (Emtac or TomTom)
There are a couple of others it doesn't work with as well...
From southern china(but Japanese  )
The bluetooth can get connection of GPRS through the another B/T phone
such like a Sonny Ericson T610<<But for what?
Also can be received files like pictures, wav files, and etc from B/T phone
or B/T PDA.-----but stil can't find how to send from Xda ll to them
Tried to Xdall as external modem for Note PC through the B/T, but still not
be successfull.
How did you get it to receive files from other bluetooth devices?
file to Xdao2ll from device
very simple, turned on the bluetooth both of xdao2ll & the device which is about to sent out file, and use the command "sent by b/t" or some like similor command or menu on the device.
and select the name of bonded xdao2ll. after second,xdao2ll will show u the dialogue such like "xxx is sending files, do u accept?" (forget exact sentence...)
just u accept it. you can find sent file in xdao2ll. u must compliete bonding(pairing) between xdao2ll that device before do that.
Battery life
I use a Belkin dongle and use ActiveSync to give me a way to browse the Internet around my house. Works quite well, but the battery life is apalling. It's just gone down 3% in the time I've been writing this message!
Anybody know if the Bluetooth implementation is flawed as regards switching between class I, classII and class III power levels? It feels like the XDA is using 100mW when it should be using 1mW.
Hi, I'm trying to install a gps mouse on my XDA and cant work out the right settings. I have tried the must likely ones but they dont work.
when I try to connect to com port 1 my phone says its not available.
does anyone know how to open the com port or how i might get around this.
Go to settings/connections/beams and make sure the "receive incoming beams" is not checked. The mouse should then find Com1 and operate fine using nmea 4800 or just choose tomtom gps in the gps selector in tomtom.
Thanks for the advice, just tried it and it works fine.
Dam it guys..
Edit: damnit lol

As can be seem above, im having mucho trouble pairing successfully with my XDA2s (Win Mobile second 2003 edition ver 4.21.1088 (build 14132)
(The receiver is fine as I have paired it with other devices) It picks it up in the wizard on the xda but with a question mark against it and when I try to go to the next stage it keeps saying service discovery was unsuccessful
Any ideas?
let the receiver drain totoally then the recharge it fully an try again
as a metter of interest what makes u think that will work? It wont work even with the power supply plugged into it?
Could it not be the software on the xda2s as it wouldnt work on my friends identical model either.
I did have a rikaline 6031 x7 which worked no problem on the xda2s though
Strange and stranger
It might work because: By draining the GPS, it resets to factory defaults.
This is the only way ie. to get a Holux GR-230 / DConnex DC-230 come back to live when you acidentally messed with baudrate & protocol at the same time (on some GPS Rom versions that is).
Nope, that didnt work either, its still showing on the xda as having a problem
Just a thought but have you enabled the Receive all Beams function under the connection tab ? :?:
disabling the "receive all incoming beams" is only applicable when using COM1 (ie via a wired GPS).
BT GPS's mostly (standard anyway in ROM 1.72) connect via COM5 (the outbound port).
Also: try the Blue Angel (the XDA2s is a Blue Angel right?) forum
Make sure you download the latest GPs driver for the XDA series from the tomtom website. Worked for me.
has anyone got tomtom mobile on their phone?
Can get it all working fine, but when I want to select a non tomtom gps receiver, it just goes back to the gps configuration screen, doesn't let me select the com port etc?
Thanks
anyone have a solution to this? i am trying to use it with a parrot ck3300?
Thanks
Paul
try GPS Dash. It's free too.
got it sorted. name the bluetooth device BT GPS and all is well

fine with Tomtom mobile
I have been using my SDA(US) with TOMTOM 5.20 for a few month. There is no special configuration needed, I just have to add 2 ports, for incoming and outgoing. My GPS is the Globalsta BT-338.
awesome combination.

I've found that any combination of name is accepted by the program, BUT....
there is a BUT...
the name of the device has to end with "GPS", otherwise only names coded within the executable can cannoect with the device...
I've tried with my "HBTGPSOL" (the solar powered one) for one long weekend with no luck until I tried renaming my device to "HBTGPSOL GPS" and... voila'... it started working within seconds, not minutes...
S**T HAPPENS...
Hope this helps someone else out.

Hey guys,
Right quick story of whats going on, basically i got my XDA stellar hock up via bluetooth to my laptop at work using active syn, and is set to com port 8. the reason i do bluetooth is casue our work server wont allow usb connection, dont ask why, but bluetooth works fine.
so just yesterday my fone broke and currently taken it to get repaired, now i have got my old XDA orbit which i used before, and i need to transfer all my contacts i saved in outlook on to me old XDA orbit, so i paired the laptop and the fone, but active syn didnt work said i need to pair, so i tried to set the fone to have an outgoing port to the acer (laptop), but i have only got options for com6 & com7. i need to add com8 on my fone so i can active syn with the laptop, any ideas how i can add a com8 to my XDA orbit??
I hope this makes sense
Kind regards
shane
